Up-and-coming rock star Briar Rose sings songs of love inspired by fairy tales, though she doesn't waste time believing in them. Scared and tired of being alone, she has seen first hand that happily ever afters don’t exist. In fact, they always end in divorce. All she needs to make her life complete is to get her own tour, and the only thing that may hinder that are the threatening letters she has been receiving.
With a career as a bodyguard, and drowning in debt, no-nonsense twenty-nine-year-old Holly Prince has never faced a challenge or temptation she couldn't handle—especially when it comes to clients. As for love, she has gone down that road before and will not allow herself to go down that road again. When an unusually high offer comes in to protect the daughter of a famous rock star, Holly jumps at the chance, knowing that it will be what she needs to get her life back on track.
When the rigid bodyguard and the rock star beauty meet, tempers are as hot as the instant attraction. But as the two begin to open up, they find that they might just have more in common that they first thought.
In order for this modern day Sleeping Beauty and her Dashing Princess to get the storybook ending they both deserve, they will have to find the fairytale magic that exists not in book or song, but much closer than they ever imagined.
Emily Sharp writes contemporary lesbian romance with characters as flawed as herself. Her books provide readers with stories of real women on their journeys to love and with promises of heartbreak, laughter, and tears along the way that will have you cheering until the very last page.
Currently living in the Republic of Ireland, she finds herself exploring ancient ruins and castles when she is not writing.

I give this one a 3.5 star rating. I liked it better than the first one in the series but I didnt like it like it. I mean it was cute but I found myself skimming to get to stuff happening in the book. Overall, not a bad read. Plus free with kU
Briar Rose is the 21 year old daughter of a famous rock musician who is beginning to forge her own career in rock n roll. The problem is she's received a series of death threats. So her father hires Holly as her body guard. I think you know the rest.
This was a solid, pretty well done romance, though the tension in the last third is the result of one of those classic misunderstandings or mistakes in overhearing only part of a telephone conversation. Yet, I wouldn't dismiss this one outright. The characters are well drawn with a little bit of magical realism thrown in for good measure.
This is a very well written modern version of not one, but two women who both end up asleep, one physically and the other, emotionally. Only the kiss of true love awaken either of them. The characters are well developed and the storyline well adapted to current times. This is worthy of your must read list.
An engaging story. I had to suspend belief for the bodyguard being 29 & having started the work at 20; but hey, it wasn't my story to tell. Also, since when do friends help a client try to seduce a bodyguard? Please! The girl's life's in danger. I have a problem reading a story that hasn't been effectively edited; going back to read a page, paragraph or sentence is disconcerting and I lose concentration and interest in the story. I'm glad Holly and Briar made it through their respective drama into each other's arms but I wanted to know if Holly kept her house, catch up with her bills and was able to help her mother. I don't like reading the epilogue and not knowing or having to guess. If you like a lesbian twist to fairy tales, read this book.
Another fairy tale well written by Emily Sharp. Like Briar, I too believe in Happily ever after. Life does have its perks being it is not perfect, however, turning the coin as Holly and Briar did is what life is all about.
Personally, HEA rarely is true for we all have the same ending. All things said a b d done, just change the attitude.
Love the story. By t he way, I knew it was Amanda at the get go.
A fairy tale singer melts an briar hearted security person
Briar Rose is a singer which she inherited from her father. Threatening letters persuades daddy to get a protector for his daughter. Will daughter and protector manage to keep their distance from each other? Enjoy!
This is a great read. Makes it harder to believe the animated version. All Mom’s need to be ready to read this version of Fairy Tales, kids need to know all sides of every story.
Though described as a modern lesbian Sleeping Beauty, this is primarily a rock-star-falls-for-the-bodyguard story. The sleeping beauty bit comes towards the end via a bit of magic thrown in for good measure. An okay read.
🌈HEA🌈 This story rocked!😍. Wow! Like Adara and the Beast. This story will touch your heart ❤. I loved Adara and the Beast! And I loved A Perfect Fit! Also. And I love 💘 The Legend of Briar Rose 🌹.
I enjoyed the book and will look for more in the series. An entertaining read and short enough to finish in a day. Only downside were textual errors that should be found in editing.
I liked this book as I have a soft spot for bodyguard romance stories. I don’t remember the fairy tale this story draws from so I can’t comment on that, but I felt for the MC young artist looking to her father for parental attention as she receives threats to her life. The no nonsense bodyguard had no intention to fall for her charge but with time and circumstance, she does. There is nothing strikingly special about this book but if you like the thrope (and I think bodyguard romance is a common enough literary device in lesbian romance to be called a thrope) you will like this book
