When she was sold to Master Elliot Lyon of House Chimera, Fawn could have never imagined he was the same person as Elliot, the man beneath a well placed mask. A victim. Just like her. She would have never thought he was grooming her for the Wolf she’d already escaped once. That he planned to deliver her to the beast’s jaws in exchange for his wife. Master Jäger will stop at nothing to have her—even if that means using others as collateral. With more than just their lives on the line, Fawn must become someone else, and Master Lyon distances himself further from Elliot as her transfer looms.
The roots of the Order run deep within them, but Fawn is beginning to realize another bond has formed between her and her Owner, a man she vowed to destroy along with the rest of their tangled branches.
In a world where trust is just a tool and love isn’t meant for people like them, Fawn is determined to beat the powerful at their own elaborate games of make-believe. Even the man who Owns her.

description Honest to god I do not understand why I am still reading this series. After the bomb we got dropped on us at the end of book one I was less than excited to start this one. However, I figured I would give book two a try to see if maybe things weren't as they appeared to be. Unfortunately, we get basically zero enlightenment of that situation the entire book. What we do get is a <-- charming...I know!

description

First, I am not a fan of humiliation in books to begin with, so I spent the entire book a little sick to my stomach. Second, I can't stand Elliot. I LOATHE this guy. He is a weak emotionally manipulative asshole. UGH...seriously people! I can't stress enough how much I hate this guy! (lol) There is nothing this author can do to make him redeemable. I don't want Fawn anywhere near him OR to end up with him. I want him to die a gruesome, painful, and bloody death. Alas, I have a feeling that ain't going to happen and we are headed in a sex free-for-all direction with the wife, Elliot, Fawn, and Marius. (lol)

description

All that said, I feel strangely compelled to continue on to book three. The writing itself is excellent. The plot is intriguing (even with all the things I hate in romance books). The characters are well developed and interesting (even the ones I hate). Maybe I need my head examined? Maybe I am a masochist? Maybe the author sprinkled crack all over the book files?? (lol) Whatever the case may be this reader is hooked!

I’m absolutely hooked on this series! Doe and Master Lyon go deeper then we have witnessed before and it breaks my heart seeing these two fighting to be strong on so many different levels all at once. Fawn is a stronger woman that I had already seen her as, to be able to push past those boundaries and continue amazes me. Elliot has his own battles and we’re still continuing to get more bread crumbs to the man behind House Chimera. Book two seemed to more at a faster pace for me then book one but continued to hold my interest and curiosity throughout. We’re given a bit more closure but not enough to complete the entire story of these characters. I will be patiently waiting for book three.

*I received this book from the Author and Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for my honest opinion.

Holy Mother of...OMG, did that seriously just happen?!!!!!!!!!!

After blitzing through the first book and ending with that cliffhanger, I couldn't wait to dive in to this book. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait since it had already released. But I was still surprised at how completely engrossed I became the more I read.

This book literally picks up where the first left off. But this book has a quicker pace to it. Where the first book concentrated mainly on character building and such, this book is all about the transfer and the process leading up to it.

After finally realizing that she wasn't escaping her new Owner, Doe has given in to her surrounding as well as her fate. And although Master Lyon has continued his training to prepare for the transfer, he wasn't quite ready for reality to come crashing down. But when Doe's fate becomes Master Lyon's reality, will it be too late for Fawn and Elliott?

Instead of spoiling the story, I'm speaking in as many riddles as possible. I truly believe that this story is something that you need to read for yourself in order to formulate your own opinion. Because let's face it, not everyone likes mind games.

Book 1, Bloom, totally pulled me in. So I expected the same from Wilt. But I was wrong. Wilt was even more compelling!
Our main characters, Fawn and Elliot, are dancing round one another, each with their own agenda. The wonderful Mr B (Markus), shows Fawn some of the friendship she so desperately needs, as time runs out for her at House Chimera.
Plunged back into the clutches of Master Jaeger and his House, only a miracle can save Fawn. Will it happen? Read it and see!
Compelling writing!

Wilt Review

Holy wow! I don't know if I can even find the words to convey my feelings about this book.
Yes, it is dark. Yes, at times it seems hopeless. But it was also it's own kind of beautiful as it delved into the intense feelings of the characters. It is an intimate view of them grabbing at what little comfort they could when everything else in their lives was completely out of their control.

The characters themselves are so well done it's like they are real.
They have managed to work their way into my head and have taken me for one heck of an emotional journey. I felt their hope, pain and passion and couldn't stop thinking about them when I wasn't reading.

The end may have seemed bleak for Elliott and Fawn but I have a feeling she is going to become something amazing and I can't wait to see what she accomplishes. I suspect she may even teach him a thing or two.

I absolutely can not wait for the next book and I can't say enough about how much I love this one especially without spoilers. So I will simply say in my opinion Wilt is highly recommended.

“My Owner was a twisted, tortured man who had crafted me into whatever he needed out of the necessity of his reaching his ultimate goal. This wasn’t love he felt for me. I doubted now whether it was love I felt for him.”

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Nikki Rae!

Rated:4/5
“You can’t train me,” I said. “Not really. Not for them.” My voice cracked but I wouldn’t back down. “You can’t prepare me for the things I’m forced to do or see.”
She was absolutely right. She wasn’t prepared and neither was I.
I’m writing this review with a smile on my face, even though the plot twist at the end was absolutely horrifying and twisted (in the best way possible, of course). I was so happy with the direction the plot took in this novel.
Granted, there was a lot of unnecessary emotional turmoil between Fawn and Elliot in the first half of the novel but, the second half salvaged this read for me.

The characters were more developed than the first novel and I ended up hating Elliot a little less. I still don’t understand why Fawn fell for him. But the closest explanation I got, which actually kind of made sense was this:
“All we could give each other were the thorns other had stuck in us. We’d been so damaged, scarred, and shattered that even if we knew how to express such a feeling, it would only seep out of the many cracks in our roots. We were too broken to hold anything for long.”
BASICALLY, they were emotionally wrung since they were being manipulated by the Order for as long as they could remember with barely any contact with humans. It was only natural that they’d fall for each other.

The most annoying part of the book was the (almost) sex they had. It lasted for 10% of the novel, i.e, around 30 pages. In the end, I just ended up skimming through most of it even though it was actually written pretty well.

I fell in love with Marius’s character in the book. He was the primary reason for the fantastic rating of the book. He was so open with his feelings, without being a tortured, stuck up douche even though he had suffered so much in his past as well.
“Marius was just one more flower choked in the weeds of the Order. He had survived by caring for others when he was helpless in every other aspect of his life.”
I completely agree with this line. I am shipping Fawn and Marius even when I know this ship WILL drown in the next installment.

OMG this series was so dark like anything I have read before. I don't even know where to begin with my review without giving anything away and beside my head is such a mess right now. So many emotions and questions going through it. Okay first thing first..this series needs to be read in order as every book ends in a cliffhanger. The first book is Bloom then Wilt and then Chrysalis.
When I started Bloom I knew this will be a dark read from the beginning I just didn't know how dark it will get, because trust me this series is nor for the faint of heart. The topic is really disturbing and for some readers it might be hard to read. But if you love dark reads and have no problem reading them (like me) then I highly recommend you read this one.
This books were absolutely amazing and no doubt will be one of my top reads in the Dark Romance genre. I loved it so fucking much that I was surprised how much I did.
It was my first read by this author and she just became one of my new favorite authors that you need to keep an eye on. She also became one of the authors who managed to challange my dark mind and go into the very dark conrners of it. And those authors are very few for now. She gave me so many feelings while reading her books. I have never cry on dark romance but trust me I did here. All the things Fawn and Elliot and Marius went through their whole life just made my heart feel so much for them. They went through so much pain that I wondered if it will ever end.
Reading page after page I never knew what to expect next. The story was so captivating that I could not turn them fast enough to find out what will happen next. And I still don't know what will happen next as it ended with a cliffhanger and now I need to wait for the next book and I am so lost I don't know what to do with my life. I have so many questions that need answers and I really wished I had the next book so I could start it stright away.
Brilliant, unputdownable, unforgettable story. Must Read.

ARC REVIEW

Pain. Brokenness. Lies.

‘Wilt’ by the amazingly talented Nikki Rae is book number two in The Order series.
In this book we still follow the dark and twisted relationship between Master Lyon and Fawn, or should I call her Doe now.
But in addition, we get more insight into how the order works and more importantly, we get to know and love a couple of new characters.

Master Lyon is his usual self, his hot and cold behavior will give you whiplash but it will all make more sense the more you get to know him. Still, I am not sure if I am madly in love with him, if I hate him or if I wanna dig his eyes out. Much like how Fawn felt throughout this book.

Fawn’s growth is extraordinaire, we see how she goes from a fiery mess to a docile girl to a hopeless slave to, finally, a woman whose fiery eyes have everyone scared.
Her life is not easy at all, every time she thinks she understands something or she feels safe, something happens that will shatter her hope over and over again.
But surprisingly, despite her confusing feelings for her Owner, she finds comfort and trust in someone else. Someone who’s always been there for her, someone who won’t forget about her and will do anything in his power to protect her.

‘Wilt’ shows us more and more with each chapter how fucked up The Order is, nothing is what it looks like and the more you try to make sense out of something the more complicated It gets.

Again, this book contains scenes that may be triggering for some, strong scenes that will burn your should and lit a fire inside you, scenes where all hope seems lost and all you want to do is cry.
But do not give up on this masterpiece.
It is by far, one of the darkest books I’ve ever read but something so dark can only elicit emotions you’d usually suppress.

Make sure to start binge reading this beautiful series now!

Book 2 picks up straight after book 1 Bloom, so make sure you have read this one first.

So in this book we have found out that Fawn is being used by her new Master Lyon, as a bargaining chip to get his wife back!! WTF!! Just as she was stating to let her barriers down and feel for him as Elliott, the man himself broken and used and abused by the order, she is again being used by a Master and being trained by him to behave properly in an attempt to get his wife back.

There's a lot going on in this one - we find out more about Elliott the man rather than the Master and his childhood, we find out about his wife and the Resistance, we learn more about Marius and his childhood with Elliott.

Elliott is falling for Fawn, or Doe as he calls her, but will not let himself have sex with her as she must be returned to Master Jäger trained and 'intact'.

I think Elliott / Master Lyon give me a bit of whiplash, going from caring about Doe and doing his best for her, putting his mark on her, wanting to keep her, to taking her to a party and showing her off to the world, sharing her, and then having sex with someone else in front of her!! I really felt for her and her need to escape no matter the consequences.

There is one heck of a horrible cliffhanger at the end of this book, not what I was expecting at all!!

Ready for book 3 now please!!

Firstly I would like to thank the lovey Nikki Rae for kindly providing me with a copy of Wilt to read and review.

Wilt is the second book in The Order Series and continues the story of Fawn/Doe, Elliot/Master Lyon & of course Marius, and picks up right at the end of Bloom.

Fawn discovered that she was going to be transferred to Master Jäger again in exchange for Master Lyon’s wife...WTAF!

Plunged back into the clutches of Master Jaeger and his House, only a miracle can save Fawn. Will it happen? Read it and see.

We stared at each other; me into the eyes of my Owner once again and he lost in search of the girl who was already dead.

Wilt is the perfect sequel to Bloom. I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know how the story was going to end. Wilt is so well written, engaging, thrilling and just plain amazing! It brought intrigue, darkness and all the emotional impact possible. It had me on the edge of my seat, unable to put it down desperate for more answers.

What can I possibly say about the 2nd installment of The Order series by Nikki Rae that can do it justice? This book, and the main character is dark, terrifying, terrible, amazing, willful, strong, sad, and so much more. I would actually go so far as to say you would be missing out by NOT reading this story. It's powerful, compelling, and onto its pages seeps a terrifying reality that many in our world suffer right under our noses. But beyond that, it gets beneath your skin and draws out your emotions in ways only the best stories can. You will laugh and you will cry, and you will feel guilt, terror, joy, and so much more. The gut-wrenching emotions that the words elicit will crawl inside you and make a home there. I loved this book and I cannot wait to dive into Chrysalis, the third installment. I can't wait to see Fawn (or Doe as she's called) in her final stages of becoming. Definitely 5 stars and 2 thumbs way way up.

With her failed escape she welcomes the pain meds she’s given, she didn’t want to eat or face him, but he lets her know she has to face him, although he didn’t look like her owner. While she heals, he’s Elliot and she’s Fawn, but they soon return to Doe and Sir.
Master Lyon decides that it’s time to continue her training for her transfer to Master Jager, Doe keeps denying the voice in her head that tells her that she’s developing more feelings than she should for Master Lyon, but will he feel the same way.
Mr B tires to explain to Doe what is going on, that Elliot is similar to her that he’s been through the same thing, that he’s hurt to lose her, making them all game pieces until the next move. Doe only hopes that it will be the right one. Will they be able to make it through what the order wants and still come out without being broken.
Does and in a cliff hanger can’t wait for the next book to see what happens with Elliot and Fawn.

(The Order series book 1 +2)
I didn't know what to expect from this series before I started to read it. I didn't read the blurb. I just read from the beginning and let me tell you, it was nothing I've expected.
I wanted to wait until I've read the 3rd book (I started reading it today 😍), but I couldn't wait to share it with you.
It's not a story for everyone. It's a very dark and terrible world of ownership and slavery.
It's completely different than any other books I've read so far. The story is told by the slave, Fawn.
It's a story about her past, her memories and nightmares.
It's a story about her uncertain future and the fears associated with it, but above all, a story about overcoming your own fears and your own thoughts.
In a world of the rich and powerful, who plays with their own rules and reign over the world behind the scenes.
I'm really impressed so far.
I can't wait to discover the rest of the story 🌿

★ Collateral for her Owner ★

—>>> Living at House Chimera with Master Lyon, Fawn learns there is another side to him, and that is when he reveals his other side to her, as Elliot. This man is the one Fawn reaches for, and begins to yearn for. But unbeknownst to her, Master Lyon is already taken and has merely been using her for as a means for his own ends. Unfortunately for Fawn, she is being trained to be taken back into House Wolf, where her previous Owner, Master Jäger, has diabolical revenge planned for her, surely, for all the damage to his House, his reputation and his body she had caused when she was but nine years old.

Fawn now learns that there exists something far worse than being Owned by Master Jäger: it is being Used by Master Lyon, and she may just not be strong enough to survive this from him.

A captivatingly dark read!

"Sometimes being in the dark is better than turning on a light to see all you’re afraid of."

The action picks up immediately after the cliffhanger in Bloom, the first book in The Order Series. Master Lyon continues to own and train Fawn, and although his feelings for her have grown, he won't derail from his plan. The angst and sexual tension in this book are through the roof. The emotions that all the characters transmit are so intense I couldn't help but feel their helplessness and despair at times. The story has a good pace, showing more aspects of the world that keeps "Doe" captive, and all the perversities that take place in that community. It was such an emotional and gritty read, I'm so excited for the next installment in the series.

Wow! Book 1 in The Order Series, Bloom, was dark but Nikki Rae stepped it up in book 2, Wilt. This story directly continues from the first book, so it is highly advised to read this series in order.

Wilt goes deeper and darker, and more disturbing than the first book in this series. It will pull you in, and the characters will pull at your emotions. Nikki will make you hate then love and then even hate again Master Lyon as he continues to "own" Fawn, aka Doe. You will not only feel her hope, but also feel her pain as she tries to prepare for her fate of being transferred to the one Owner she fears.

If you enjoy the dark side, then this series is definitely for you! It will click all your dark side emotions and have you wanting more in book 3!

"Wilt" by Nikki Rae is the second book in the "The Order" series. It' s a dark romance with BDSM, with angst, damaged and captive characters, and sex slaves. An overly intriguing book with inappropriate content for certain people.

The end of the previous book was a set of very surprising events that left me speechless, and this book follows the previous one very well. I thought things would get better with both protagonists, and they did. Fawn begins to lower her barriers, misses him at times when she is lonely, and Elliot begins to change her way of being a little.

“I know what you want, ma petit,” he whispered, capturing my lower lip between his teeth.“But we don’t get to make these decisions for ourselves.”

Throughout the book is a tug-of-war of both protagonists. I love Fawn's way of thinking, Nikki Rae shows us every thought of the protagonist, and you empathize very well with what she feels. Moments in which she has to do the hard work, not submit mentally, and without changing her way of being.

“Even if you cannot see it now, know that we want the same thing”

There are many moments between Fawn and Elliot, but there is one in particular that I loved, which was too hot, and I couldn't stop reading. I transported myself to that room because of how detailed everything was. In that scene, there was a comment from Elliot that I meant for Mr. B (Marius) to join this relationship. And I' m kinda liking Mr. B and the way it is with Fawn. Still, I prefer to wait rather than anticipate events.

In the last few chapters, I read fast without looking up from the Kindle. These are, without any doubt, that ending that left me impacted, and with many questions and doubts that I want to resolve immediately.

After reading Bloom, Book 1, I was hesitant to read Wilt. But boy oh boy am I ever glad I did! Wilt definitely got better. The story was very well written, and I just loved the angst and darkness that is within Wilt. Doe is the strongest character I have ever encountered. The things she has gone through at the age of 19 are mind blowing. Yet she seems to still get back up and tries again. I’m excited to see where this story continues. I can’t wait for the next book!

Oh, My Dear Lord…WTF!!!
I ploughed straight into this after finishing off book one, so the treachery of the end of Bloom was fresh in my mind when this picked up right after the point where I was ready to throttle Elliot!
Each page brought more and more conflict to the story; just how would they all find what they needed? Could Fawn and Elliot find their place or was it all too late for them?
What part was Doe going to play in all of this, she may have accepted her fate but that doesn’t mean that fate didn’t have other plans.
When truth and reality hits home there are splinters that are ready to blow the world as they know it apart, the possibilities were not only endless but also so exquisitely tantalising that I quite simply couldn’t put the story down.
A smooth reading pace, the flow of the book was pitched just perfectly, it encouraged everything I expected and ensured that as the characters revealed what was happening to them I was able to feel the emotions that they were enduring, it was so empathetic that I found it almost consuming.
Darker than the first book but not without hope, this was a triumph!!

This is book 2 in the order series, in this book you learned more about master Elliot background. And we get to see (Marius) Mr. B in a different light and also you start second guessing yourself about the characters and what they’re true feelings are about the order and what they’re roles are in the order.

Can’t wait for the next installment on this series, the rollercoaster of emotions I got from this book is so good.

This picks up where Bloom ended and I have to say I think liked this book a bit better the Darkness and angst just sang to my dark lil soul as Doe who has to overcome so much in this book at just 19.

Once again Nikki takes you on a story that will hook you and have you turning those pages.

This is just my opinion and my review.

Given to The Grimm Order as an infant, Fawn was raised in a world shaped by the rich and powerful. When she was sold at the age of nine to a Suitor, Fawn believed he would protect her from the “Mainworld”, where those who know nothing about the Order live. Living with the cruel man who bought her freedom, she finds just what the Order is about: money, control, and status for the Owner and humiliation and abuse for those they own.

Unwilling to accept the expectations of being Owned, Fawn goes from golden girl to maid, content to live in the shadows of the Order as long as she isn’t Owned again.
It’s been ten years since she disgraced her former Owner’s name, and now the brooding Frenchman Elliot Lyon wants her. Master Lyon is kind, smart, and unlike any man she’s met. She doesn’t want to admit it to herself, but Fawn is drawn to him despite constantly planning her next escape.
Even the prettiest flowers have thorns, and Master Lyon is hiding secrets that will uproot everything she thinks she knows about him.

Bloom Teasers/Excerpts

1:

I didn't allow myself dreams. They were unrealistic and unfair. Cruel. There was enough cruelty in my life; I didn't need to inflict it upon myself. It was difficult at first, telling my brain to shut off so completely that even when I wasn't in control of it I could rely on the images within to be shrouded in black. They say everyone dreams and they just don't remember. I don't think my mind is capable of conjuring up images—nightmares or pleasant dreams. Not anymore. Reality was a nightmare. Dreams didn't come true. Once you knew that things couldn't get any better and that things were and will be the scariest you could ever experience, the imagination simply died. So instead of dreaming, I planned.

2:

“Fawn,” he said suddenly, his voice soft but still making me jump in my seat. “Were they out of flower names?” he asked, a smile in his voice.
He let on that he knew about the inner-workings of the actual Compound more than my last Owner. Then again, my last one only cared about one thing. He didn't play these mind games this guy seemed to like.
Master Lyon sighed, convinced I wouldn't answer, but for some reason I couldn't keep my mouth shut.
“I was one of the originals at the California Compound.” I hesitated almost too long before I brought my eyes back to his face. He was staring, waiting for me to say more. “We all had animal names,” I said, trying and failing to hide the disgust in my voice.
“Fawn,” he said. “With those eyes?”
I blinked, wondering what he meant.
“They’re so large and expressive,” he explained. “You’re more of a Doe to me.”
So this would be my new name? Not Dog or Whore, but Doe?
He smiled like I’d said something funny but I wasn't joking. “Do you not like it?”
I didn't know why he cared if I did or did not like something. It shouldn't matter to him. I didn't like any of this and it was obvious. He was asking to toy with me, get me to talk. I was done talking. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep the words from spilling out.

3:

I felt that I should say something but the only thing that came out was, “I’m sorry I bit you, sir.” I willed myself to look up at him as he continued to rub the cream into my tender flesh, concentrating on the task in front of him.
“No, you aren’t,” he said matter-of-factly. “You’re sorry you were punished—that you had to be corrected.” A grin pulled at his lips. “I think you quite enjoyed biting me, drawing my blood.”

4:

“When we go downstairs, it’s important you obey me.”
“I thought it was always important I obey you, sir,” I countered.
He sighed, ignoring my comment. “That’s enough talking for now.” There was an edge to his voice. “You will not speak until I say otherwise. Do you understand?”
I was about to answer but thought better of it and only nodded.
“And you must obey me—do as I say. Understood?”
I nodded again.
He stared directly into my eyes as he moved closer; I had to force myself to stand my ground and not inch away. "If you do not choose to obey," he said in a calm, even tone, "the next punishment will prevent you from walking for a week." He backed away so we were a small distance apart again. "Is that understood?"

5:

Ice clinked in his glass as he took another gulp and then set it back down. “He wasn’t supposed to touch you,” he finally said.
I knew it was impossible, but it sounded almost as if he was apologizing. Angered by his audacity—that he thought I would buy one word he refused to say—I couldn’t bite my tongue. “Why does it matter?”
My tone was ice; I had to wrap my arms around myself again.
I heard him inhale, but he still didn’t face me. “Of course it matters.” The edge to his voice sounded as appalled as I had felt the moment he’d tied my hands behind my back and made me even more helpless than I already was.
Anger flared in me even brighter. “Why should it?” I asked. “I’m only here for what men like that want to do with me. He’s just more honest about his intentions than some.” I wanted to sew my mouth shut. No one ever spoke to their Owner in such a way. I knew better, yet I couldn’t stop the truth from spewing out of my mouth. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the impact of his open palm across my cheek, still damp from the condensation on his glass, but it didn’t come.
He casually took another drink of amber liquid, leaving just enough remaining in case he decided he wanted more. "Dry off."

Synopsis:

Wilt Teasers/Excerpts

1:

He sat on the bed, cautious of moving too much. He wouldn’t look at me, instead focused on the floor. “I never wanted this.” I almost didn’t hear him, but his strained whisper was even more real in the stillness of the room.
I closed my eyes and gave him a sad, if not sardonic smile. “Me either.”
Though I only peeked the tiniest amount, I could see the smirk I’d come to know.
Silence enveloped us, and this time it seemed impossible to lift. When I couldn’t stand it any longer, I said, “Are you staying?”
Fleetingly, I realized I hadn’t addressed him properly and even though I knew he didn’t expect it right now, some small part of me was still afraid that I was mistaken. He did that to me. Made me second guess every move and motive. Before him, I wouldn’t have questioned my instincts, but he’d managed to change them. When I should have run, I remained still. When I was supposed to hate things, I loved them. No one before him had accomplished this. Elliot—Master Lyon—hadn’t trained me. He hadn’t reprogrammed my mind. He hadn’t even necessarily forced me into anything. Yet he’d conquered me, and no matter how much I wanted to argue with myself, the idea didn’t bother me quite as much as it should have.

2:

“You’re…” I found my fingers trailing his blacked out arm and discovered the tattoos’ purpose: There were tiny raised marks there as well and the ink made it so I could only see them if the light hit his skin at just the right angle. “You’re not a bad person.” I choked on the words, not completely sure whether I meant them, only that I had to believe them.
He was silent again, setting the washcloth aside and turning off the jets. Without ceremony, he stood, wrapping a towel around his waist before I could glimpse more than the faint outline of his upper thighs. Then he held out a hand to me and helped me into a towel as well. “Let’s get you to bed.”

3:

At the Compound, they made us watch every romantic notion of love in cartoons and movies. It was instilled in us that once our princes saved us from the Mainworld, our lives would become the Disney version. Everything would be brighter with songs and pretty dresses. These were what equated to love in the Order. What Ownership meant. If this was the definition, Master Lyon most certainly did not love me.
But I had no interest in any of the Compound’s ideals; love could mean something different now, and being with Master Lyon had given me only a small glimpse of it. I wasn’t sure if I should be thankful it was such a short time or grieve its loss.

4:

Master Lyon removed the moisture from my cheek with a knuckle. “How will you ever survive if you forget the rules when there are more players brought in?”
His words were gentle, sad. They made me want to hide.
“Please,” I whispered. “I promise to behave if you just tell me, sir.”
He stroked my hair with his free hand. “I know you’re afraid,” he said. “But as long as you obey me, you’ll be safe. That is all you need to do.”
I shook my head, unwilling to accept his non-answer.  “Sir, please,” I barely said. “I-I—”
“Shh,” he soothed, fingers playing with the diamonds of my dress and then circling the scars he could reach. He leaned in close so he could speak directly into my ear. “You’ve come so far,” he said, outlining the higher, larger scars as if to emphasize his point. “If you want them to suffer, tonight is the first step towards that goal.” He tucked hair behind my ear and cupped my cheek. “Even if you cannot see it now, know that we want the same thing.”
It was hard not to laugh at the absurdity; what we wanted couldn’t be more different. I wanted to be free and he wanted me to be caged.
“And what is that, sir?”
“To destroy them,” he almost growled, but the anger wasn’t directed at me.
This time when he moved away and we stared at each other, his eyes burned with sincerity while the rest of his face remained a hard mask. I wanted to deny his convictions, believe he was lying, but it was impossible. This wasn’t an act an Owner was putting on to convince a girl that her sacrifice for him wasn’t selfish. This was Elliot, trying his best to keep everyone he loved safe—whether we were worthy or capable of love or not. I only hoped, whatever his definition of the word, he loved me enough to keep his promises.

5:

Master Lyon looked more than comfortable with her in his arms, fingers digging into her thighs through her dress. When I looked at his face, he still held the same grin. I wanted to wrap my hands around his neck. “Did you like watching, Doe?”
Next to him, his cigarette sat in a crystal ashtray on the arm of the seat, smoking down to nothing but a trail of dust. He hadn’t touched it once since that woman had returned to him. “No, sir,” I whispered, afraid if I used any more force I would scream.
Master Lyon cocked his head to the side and Mia gave me a mock-frown. “No?” he asked.
I stared back at him. “No, sir. I’m sure.” I could have left off the last part, but the small amount of control it made me believe I had was worth it.
His grin only widened as he leaned into Mia’s shoulder so her could coo in her ear, “I’ve trained her to be very loyal to her Owner.” He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and she closed her eyes and smiled as his fingers lingered on her chin. “But I’m afraid it makes her quite possessive of me.”
Mia stared down at me. It wasn’t until now that I could see the glint of evil all Members had in their eyes. The higher up they were on the food chain, the less human they were. Sooner or later, they all turned into sharks with dead black eyes. Her legs dangled off his thigh as she kissed his cheek. “I don’t blame her.” She didn’t look away from me even as her lips remained on my Owner’s skin. “I can see why she would be protective of you.” She ran her fingers through his hair.
“I’ve told her many times that she’s to be transferred,” he said, “but I think you and I can teach her that I am not the one who belongs to her.”

I was lucky enough to have this book after I finished the first one. The first book of this series ended in an extreme cliffhanger so I was able to keep going. And I did. It took me less than 24 hours to finish both books and I cannot wait for the third! Nikki Rae did it again. After Bloom I was in complete shock and had so many conflicting emotions. I couldn’t believe Master Lyon was willing to trade Violet back to Master Jager in exchange for his wife (to be honest I was just shocked he had a wife!)

Like the first book, Bloom, Nikki Rae pulled me in from the beginning. It picks up right at the end of Bloom and I think that makes it easier to follow Violet's POV. Rae is able to explain Violet's emotions almost perfectly and without dragging it out. Most books I have to read several sentences before I truly know what the character is thinking or feeling.

The biggest conflict I have on this book is the wife/girlfriend (not sure how to label Violet) issue. The romance between Violet and Elliot was definitely more heated in this book but I think that’s to be expected in the second book of a series like this. However close they got or in this case wanted to get it can't lead anywhere because Elliot is married and he's willing to trade violet to the wolf of Violet's past. The whole book I was rooting for them. I wanted them to work and be together because they complimented each other so well but as I was reading I started to think about his wife and how no matter how much I wanted them together she was still his slave.

I don't want to spoil the ending so I will leave it at this, I am extremely happy with the way this turned out. I love how strong Violet was throughout the whole book but she really showed her strength at the end.

While this is a hard series to read and really tests your emotions I am beyond thankful I've read it and cannot wait for the third book. It's been a long time since I've read a book where the main character is a woman who is incredibly strong. While she falls in love with her master, she still puts herself first and she thinks about how to fix/distance herself from the situation she's in. Thank you Nikki Rae for introducing me to Violet and I cannot wait to read the rest of her story!

Book provided by author in exchange for a honest Review

If book one had me in the feels this one almost destroyed me. I knew after the cliffhanger the direction this storyline was gonna take but I still wasn't prepared and I still was shocked at some unexpected things that happened. some of the things that will take place were very dark and difficult to read and they broke my heart, Fawn has gone through so much in her young life I just want a happy ending for her free from pain and suffering at the hands of monsters. Elliot is my sweet damnaged baby I love him but I hate him. I couldn't put this baby down. Off too book 3 can't wait to read more from these characters.
