A Demisexual Age Play Romance

Sex is a lot like pizza. It's good, but you won't die without it...

Matteo's always known he was different. Seeing his older brothers falling in love shines a spotlight on his own lack of desire. Modeling age play gear was a way to prove he could make his own decisions, nothing more.

Levi didn’t realize what a challenge it'd be directing the photo shoot for a new website. When he sees Matteo struggling, he instinctively falls into the role he’d given up years earlier: Daddy.

When Matteo discovers a side of himself he never expected, will Levi be able to show him that not all love begins with sexual attraction?

Discovery is the third book in the Kinky in the City series, but can be read as a standalone novel.

Can I just say that I loved this story so I can get it out of the way and move on to actually discussing the plot? Thank you! So, I loved this story!

I went in with caution for two reasons: one, I wasn't exactly the biggest fan on the first book of this series and two, I knew I would have to push my limits in order to read it. Let's expand on those reasons. What I was missing from book one, Exploration, was the communication between the characters, the talks, the connection, the believable pace of a new relationship, the power exchange between two people involved in a D/s relationship. This book had everything I didn't find in the first one and that made all the difference to me!

Matteo and Levi connected with each other and clicked with minimal effort. They completed each other even if it came as a surprise to Matteo. Levi recognised something in him and he introduced him in a lifestyle that fitted him like nothing he ever knew. Levi was what was missing from Matteo's life, he was good for him and he helped him function, be calm and deal with everyday life. I was surprised with how easy the author, Quinn Ward, made reading about this kink. I was prepared to be uncomfortable for a big part of the book and even maybe *lowers voice* put it aside, but the way they wrote the relationship between those two characters kept the story far away from anything that could be considered creepy and made reading their story easy. I tend to run far, far away when I read in a blurb that a book features this particular kink. For some reason though I decided to give this a try. And I wasn't disappointed!

If you're like me and stay away from books with Daddy kink, don't fear to give this a try. It will push your limits, like it did mine, but I don't think it'll cross them. The kink in this story is all about Matteo needing to get out of his head, go to a simpler time and not having to angst over anything. It's about Levi providing a safe place for Matteo, taking care of him and giving him the peace and quiet that his brain needs every so often.

While I didn't believe in the relationship between Calvin and Frankie from the first book and couldn't really see them in the roles they were supposed to have, here, I had no problem seeing the dynamic between Levi and Matteo working and being what it was supposed to be. The way Levi introduced Matteo in the lifestyle and the talks they had in order for Matteo to understand what was happening and if it was something he wanted, made the story all the more real for me. They took their time and gradually progressed in their relationship. They didn't rush, without that meaning that this is a slow burn. There is nothing slow about this story, they just took everything one step at a time. Matteo was the one who set the pace and he was the one to set limits and decide what was okay to happen between them. I liked this aspect of the story and I respected Levi very much for the way he behaved at times. He really cared about Matteo and just wanted to help him live his everyday life easier.

Also, I very much liked that the author decided to include a demisexual character in their story. The portrayal of Matteo and how he felt about intimacy was very believable. There were a few hard scenes to read when he tried to be "normal" and pushed himself to be okay with more than he was ready for. Those were some of the instancies that made me greatly respect Levi for how he handled the situation at hand.

The only downside was that I was left with a few questions upon finishing the book. First, why did Levi call Matteo "Angel"? Was it just a nickname he picked that he liked or was there another reason for it? Second, what happened with John and Denny? We were just teased about them, but never got anything concrete about what was the deal with them. Are they getting a story of their own? (overly excited reader sitting right here!) And third, and last, where did Matteo's ADHD come from? Since the beginning of the book it was pretty apparent that Matteo's brain worked a bit differently than his brothers' and he needed certain things in order to function under stress, but there was no mention of why that was. Then, near the end of the story, ADHD popped up all of a sudden with no previous mention of it. It was like an afterthought or something.

Other than those questions the only problem with the text were a few minor continuation errors but nothing important. Even though I read an ARC, there were no missing or double words and no grammatical or editorial errors, so I was very happy to be reading such a carefully written text.

The forth and final book of the series, Adventure, is the one I'm most excited about. It's sure to push some limits and I'm anxiously waiting for it to get ready so I can get my hands on it!

Re-read March 2019
I keep re-reading this book because I just love how Levi takes care of Matteo.

--------------------------------------

Nice daddy kink book (age-play, not just daddy-kink, but very mild age-play, no diapers)!

Matteo a 21 year old guy who has never in his life been attracted to someone. He’s not sure why that is, but he’s finally willing to embrace his asexuality. That is until he is modeling for a friend’s kinky website and discovers the age play stuff is kind of getting him hot.

When the assistant photographer starts to act like a daddy dom to him, Matteo is not sure why that is so calming to him.

Levi can see that the young Matteo is very out of his depth with this photoshoot, but he can also see a spark of interest. When Levi tells Matteo to just go with what feels right, the two find out they have amazing chemistry as a daddy and his boy.

Levi is not done with Matteo after the shoot, so he takes him out and tells Matteo he would love to continue seeing him. Matteo isn’t sure about anything in his life, but he does know he wants to keep seeing the man who is finally making him feel.

I really liked this. Matteo was cute and innocent and Levi was the perfect nurturing daddy dom. I did have to say that I thought it all moved pretty fast. This literally starts with the photoshoot and Matteo immediately questioning his own feelings about the age play stuff. There’s hardly time for him to think about it some more before he is embracing that side of him.

But it did give me all the warm fuzzies with sweet innocent Matteo and Levi as his slightly older, but very considerate Dom.

(PS, I haven't read the other two books, so this works as a stand-alone)

This book is so full of love it makes my heart burst. Matteo and Levi were such a perfect partnership and this particular kink was so well done.

The pain aspect of BDSM has never been something I've found to be really enthralling but I have to say, the spankings and light punishment with a belt scenes absolutely worked in this narrative.

The other kink element I'm going to hide away as I think it works better as it's slowly revealed in the book.

I loved how there was very little angst in this. Even though his family don't know the full dynamics, they can all see how much better Teo is since he's been with Levi and are supportive.

Even though the kink's not my thing, this was my favourite book in the series.

3 meh stars. This was a nice story. Levi was nice, Matteo was nice. Their relationship was nice. That's about it for me. I literally feel like I just read a Shaw Montgomery book.

A great romance has the perfect balance between relationship development and sexy times. Discovery certainly delivers.

Teo is the baby of the Marino family. After watching 2 of his older brothers fall in love, he realizes he wants that, but despite only being 21 has resigned himself to that face that it probably won’t happen. He thinks he’s broken because he has anxiety and ADHD, and on top of that, he doesn’t feel sexual attraction.

He meets Levi when he agrees to help a friend with a photo shoot, and all the sudden his dick wakes up. Levi is equally attracted to Teo, but he also recognizes that Teo responds like a little.

Discovery is about Levi helping him discover and explore his little side, while teaching him coping mechanisms to get through the day. Along the way, these two fall in love.

I have enjoyed this series, but this was my favorite.

This book involves 3 big subjects: DDlb/age play, demisexuality, and anxiety. It does two of them well and one of them terribly, which I'll cover more in-depth below.

The characters are very much defined by these 3 subjects and don't have much else to their personalities or lives beyond those, which was fine, since I mean... it's advertised as "a demisexual age-play romance" so if you pick it up, it's because that's what you're here for.

The writing is okay, although the pacing can be a bit off. Any scene where only one of the LI's is present (with other chars) is rushed and awkward, and all of Matteo's like 5? 6? brothers have the exact same voice and personality, so it's really hard to tell them apart. (I also didn't read the rest of the series prior to this, so that might have made it easier)

So here we go:

DDlb/Ageplay - 4.5 Stars
For the most part, this book does the kink aspects very well. They communicate about their relationship very openly, and often. There is even a pretty great scene where Mateo (the little) pushes himself to try something sexually that he isn't ready for, and Levi (his dom) stopping everything to take care of him. Levi never pressures or pushes Mateo to do anything he doesn't want to do in the bedroom, and regularly reassures him they'll move at his pace. (Which is so refreshing... a lot of similar books revolve around fantasies of "forcing" someone to be little when they don't want to, and it's horrifying.)

The only part that made me nervous was that Mateo has never done anything kink-related before, and didn't even realize he was a little until he met Levi. Mateo is doing some modeling for his friend's kink store as a side job, and they dress him in little clothes and have him act out scenes and he finds himself really liking it. Levi is also working the shoot - that's how they meet.

So like... in my (very limited lol I'm not like a kink expert here) interactions with my local kink community... they have "mentorships" to introduce people into kink, but they have a VERY strong policy that doms can't introduce subs into kink. Only subs can mentor other subs. Because it's so incredibly easy for that situation to become harmful, even unintentionally.

Mateo and Levi quickly become engaged in a full-time daddy dom/little boy relationship, meaning they are in their respective roles every single time they're together, unless they can't be (like at work or around family). Mateo has no one in his life he can talk to about any of this. He meets Levi, and Levi immediately begins domming him, and despite Levi being a kind and caring person who is respectful every step of the way... there are times when, from Mateo's perspective, Levi asks him to do things, and he *does not* want to do them, but Levi convinces him. Of course, in magic romance-novel fashion, everything Mateo tries that he initially had reservations about.... he enjoys! A lot! But I was super nervous for him during parts of their relationship which took away some of my enjoyment of the book.

One other thing is when they discuss safe words, Mateo (in his own thoughts) insists he will never use it, because he trusts Levi that much. SIGH. That wasn't necessary to include.

Anxiety - 4 Stars
Mateo has pretty debilitating anxiety. It pervades every aspect of his life, and he's constantly struggling in daily life, can't live away from his mother, and since he works at his family's restaurant... the only reason he hasn't been fired for the numerous issues he has at work is because his brothers watch over him. He's portrayed as someone who insists he can do things for himself, but it's obvious to the reader and everyone in his life that he can't. He needs help every day from those around him.

He mentions once that his family wanted him to see a doctor but he "doesn't want to be dependent on medication" (thanks for that, author, was that necessary?) and so he won't go. Instead, he's just.... miserable.

Kink is a way for him to alleviate that anxiety and take directions from someone else rather than be overwhelmed by trying to manage on his own. I know several people who also find kink helps them cope with their anxiety... but it's not a treatment. It's not something that makes your anxiety completely go away, and it's no replacement for actual mental health treatment. But... this book has Mateo treating his anxiety by living full-time under the direction of a dom.

I disagree with that choice, obviously, but the author portrayed anxiety very well in the story. We switch POVs between the two men, and when we're in Mateo's head, you can feel the anxiety in the way he thinks. He has panic attacks or near-panic-attacks multiple times, and it was all very realistic and well-done.

At a few points, they also mention him having ADHD, but that's not something I've ever personally experienced, and to me it looked like all of his symptoms were related to anxiety. But I know the two often combine to make the other worse.

Demisexuality - Negative stars, lol
This is the one that the book absolutely did not handle well. At all.

First of all, the word "demisexual" is never used in the entire book, by any character. In 2019, in a contemp-romance novel, you cannot use the tagline "a demisexual romance" if you're not going to put the word on the actual page. Do better.

Asexuality is only brought up once. One of Mateo's brothers is like "Oh, are you saying you're asexual? That means xyz..." and Mateo shrugs it off like "Idk, maybe? I guess? I don't know!?" and then goes back to talking about it the way he normally does, which is....

Mateo only ever talks about his sexuality in words like "I'm a freak," "my wires are crossed," "I'm so fucked up I can't even be sexually attracted to someone," "I just don't like sex," and repeatedly, at LEAST once every 3-4 pages, calling himself BROKEN.

"I was always careful to avoid conversations about attraction because I didn’t want to admit I was broken. That there were wires crossed in my head and I had never looked at someone and sprung wood." - 26%

"I wanted to know what it was like to wake up with someone else’s body pressed against mine. For one night, I wanted to be normal." - 34%

Given the tagline of this book, I had expected that Mateo would gradually grow to understand and accept his sexuality just like he did with his kink interests, but that is not the case. On the very last page, he's still doing it. He refers to himself as "sexually dead inside" at 93%, as well as listing "not knowing how to be sexually attracted to people" in his list of "all these other issues."

Also, the author seems slightly confused about what demisexuality actually is. I'm demisexual, and while everyone experiences it slightly differently, the general definition is "someone who does not experience sexual attraction until they have formed a strong bond with someone." For many people, that strong bond is a romantic relationship, for others it just means they need to know and trust the other person.

For Mateo.... neither is true? He is sexually attracted to Levi the very moment he meets him. He's baffled by it, because he's never been attracted to anyone else before, but like... that's not demisexuality? The base component of being demi is that you never meet someone and immediately feel sexual attraction. Ever. lol. The variations in how people experience it are about how/when/why they feel differently over time. (maybe I'm wrong, but I know... a shit load of demi people and have been actively a part of the ace community for like.... 5? years now, and I've never heard differently)

"I couldn’t understand why today, with this man, my broken libido decided to prove I wasn’t sexually dead inside." - 5%

Mateo regularly informs Levi that he doesn't want to have sex during the early stages of the book. ("I didn’t mean I don’t want to have sex with you, I meant I don’t have sex with anyone. I know it’s messed up, but I don’t like it.” - 18%) and Mateo is overwhelmed with love and affection when Levi "doesn't outright reject him" (also 18%). His acceptance for "my biggest flaw" is described my Mateo as "a gift: hope."

Buuuut.... the thing is, we see inside Levi's head. We know he has actually not accepted this at all.

“I tried it a few times because I thought that’s what I was supposed to do, but it didn’t do anything for me.”
“Angel, we’ve already decided that that’s not even on the table for us,” I reminded him, biting my tongue to keep from adding “right now” to the end of the statement. (19%)

There are not enough words to explain sick and angry that made me. Mateo's POV portrays Levi as this shining star, the only man who knew they'd never have sex but wanted him anyway. And operating within that boundary of no sex, Mateo grows to trust Levi and eventually feel comfortable doing sexual things with him. But from Levi's POV? He's basically just biding his time, saying out loud that it's okay if they never have sex, but secretly just waiting until Mateo gets over his fears.

“But what happens when you want more?”
“We’ll talk about it when the time comes.”

Levi is also a decade (or more??) older than Mateo. So we have an older, experienced man, introducing Mateo to kink by guiding him into letting him have more and more control over his life (over what he wears, what he does in his free time, where he lives...), and this kink is the only thing that keeps Mateo's mental health stable enough for him to function... and on top of that, Mateo believes this man is comfortable not having sex with him, while in his own thoughts, this man is saying "not yet."

Like, the relationship never actually turns abusive. Thanks to the magic of romance novels, Levi is only ever good, respectful, and empathetic to Mateo. But GOOD GOD is there so many red flags to their relationship.

So like... I'm personally not the kind of person who can enjoy books like Fifty Shades and etc. that portray an unhealthy dynamic, out of a sort of fantasy enjoyment of dangerous situations that you wouldn't want to be in in real life...... I know some people do, and can, but it doesn't work for me. So if you go into this book ready to ignore red flags because you know in this story, which is a perfect fantasy representation of kink where nothing ever goes wrong, you'll probably enjoy the kink and anxiety elements a lot. But if you're not one of those people, this book will probably bother you the way it bothered me.

TL;DR - I still really enjoyed a lot of the ddlb aspects, and there are some very sweet scenes in here, but the demisexuality was done so poorly, and there were too many causes for concern in their relationship that I can't wholesale recommend it to others.

I Fucking Loved it. I got so much more than just Erotic Gay Sex!
The Character & Relationships Development were Awesome, All now own a Special place in my heart. The Marino Italian Family is so sweet & Fun, They have a Family Restaurant where Each 5 of the brothers work. Every book Focuses on Different Brother(s, for the last one😉). Their Dad is no more. I love their Mama!
What makes it different & what I especially liked was that each Couple in their Story talked it out before Misunderstandings could become big troubles. That had been missing in so many books I've read!
This doesn't mean there weren't problems for'em, but Honesty & Trust made Finding the solutions easier.
The BDSM was on the milder Side, But The Gay Sex & Kinks are Damn HOT!
Though I don't Reread much, I'll definitely Reread this series sometime!

INDIVIDUAL BOOK REVIEW
Matteo, Youngest Marino Brother & Works Lunch Hour, has ADHD & Anxiety. He's also Klutzy Which I Totally adore.
Matteo meets Levi (Sexy Nerd!) at John's (M's Fun Friend) Age-Play kink Website Photoshoot, Where Matteo is the Model & Levi is the Photographer's assistant (L's John's Cousin).
~Matteo brings out the Daddy Side of Levi that is swoony & Protective! And Levi helps M Embrace His New Found little Side, which Calms M & Stops his Restlessness.

"For so long, I’d thought I was broken because I didn’t feel the slightest sexual attraction to anyone, but having Levi tell me to sit on the floor and play brought me to life. It wasn’t even the promise of anything sexual that got to me; it was the tender way he issued his commands."
(My Heart broke for Matteo at his thought that he'll never find Love, I'm so glad he met Levi!)

Levi & Matteo's Sexual Chemistry is Fierce, Both didn't start anything thinking they won't meet again after the Photoshoot BUT soon it becomes apparent They want more, Cue Talks & Start of their Relationship!
The Sexual Progress is Slow as Teo's a Virgin. But I didn't mind as they do Many other things *wink*. I love how Caring, Attentive, Authoritive & Patient Levi is!
(I'm not much into Age play books, but I do think they're HOT & Amusing + Damn, Quinn writes them well! Levi is a daddy I'll gladly have😍)

“You do know I’m more than capable of doing that on my own, right?”
“I do, but me doing things like this have nothing to do with your ability to care for yourself and everything to do with my desire to take care of you.”

Spending time with Levi, Matteo's Confidence grows *Yay!*. Soon He tells Frankie & Tony about Levi.
Love is Budding b/w Matteo & Levi..The article Teo Wrote about his Experience in Age-Play Proved it!
When Levi meets the Whole Marino Family, it isn't Exactly planned but it's Sweet & Fun. I adore that family & their Protectiveness with Matteo, and how Fast they accepted Levi❤.

I love how Explorative Matteo is. After 70% Of the book, when M+L finally had penetrative Sex (At Teo's persistence, As Levi won't ever push him).. & The I love yous afterwards.. PERFECTION!
Matteo wants to experience everything With Levi, he wants forever. And when Levi asks Matteo to move in with him, it's so Sweet!
~Helping Freddie+Peter in their Move (Their Book's Epilogue Scene) & Telling Mama About L+M's Decision to Move in were FUN scenes!

We also get an Epilogue here, 4 months later, Its Matteo's Birthday & Levi has some HOT Surprises! Loved to see'em Happy😍.

This book has potential to be an enjoyable daddy kink story.
But I felt that this short story is dragging. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, at some part, I really liked the two MCs dynamic.
I don't know, I think it's too sweet? It was like, I wanted to push them to say or do something already. I had no patience when I read this book, blame it on me 😁🤘
What made me still finished it, is the chemistry between them was there, and strong.
Maybe you'll find this book more enjoyable than I did. Especially if you like Daddy kink, and a (very) soft BDSM lifestyle.

I loved this story from the first line...
"Sex is a lot like pizza. It's good but I won't die without it."

Matteo has agreed to model for a friend of his and finds himself a little unnerved but weirdly comfortable in the persona he's adopting whilst modelling.
Levi is the photographer at the shoot and has great chemistry with Matteo.
"It was a damn good thing I wasn't interested in Levi because I was pretty sure slobber running down my chin would have ruined any sexual chemistry."

Levi and Matteo are so great together. Levi helping Matteo with the realisation that what he likes is okay. Matteo was so sweet in his innocence.
"Did I like it? Hell yes, I did, and that was the problem. For so long I thought I was broken because I didn't feel the slightest sexual attraction to anyone, but having Levi tell me to sit on the floor and play bought me to life."

"It'd been a careless risk, offering to introduce Matteo to what turned me on, but his eager yet polite response told me I'd be worth it."
"No matter where this led, I felt like this was the moment where I could take control of something in my life. And if it allowed me a few moments of peace from my racing mind, that was even better."

Levi was so great with Matteo, encouraging him to embrace and learn what he liked with no pressure. Matteo worrieds that his adhd will get in the way and come between him and Levi but Levi is happy to help him find ways to cope.
"Levi's the one who made me see I'm not broken, just different."

A great love story about finding that person who completes you..

I really wanted to like this. Matteo and his DISCOVERY (see what I did there) of his sexuality really hit home for me. He feels that he is "wired differently" but the truth is that he seems to be more demisexual. He also seems to struggle with ADHD although I'm not sure that he gets an actual diagnosis of such in the book.

His partner/daddy tries to help Matteo understand his sexuality and his mental limitations or barriers and tries to help Matteo find ways to function. I really took issue with this because I think first and foremost it's important in books for a person with mental health issues to see a professional who can help them and from what I gathered from the book, Levi is not. Matteo never sees a professional which rubs me the wrong way.

There are a few aspects of Matteo's and Levi's relationship that rubs me the wrong way and for someone who is into age play and the whole daddy Dom thing I usually don't have issues with the Dom being more in control, but Levi almost seemed to be smothering Matteo. When Matteo would have an original thought or thought process, Levi would come in and almost prematurely nip it in the bud.

In complete honesty I almost couldn't force myself to finish the book despite it being super short. This had potential but maybe the idea of it reaching that potential made if fall all the more harder.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

I think this is my favorite story in the series so far. I have come to really enjoy age play romances because I love the additional depth and love the stories bring. Matteo kind of got thrown into the deep end when he does a favor for a friend but is lucky to have Levi willing to catch him.

Matteo has always thought he was different and has finally accepted that fact when he meets Levi and he shows him that there is nothing wrong with him. Levi has longed for a Daddy/Little connection for a long time but never got the courage to try again but Matteo’s innocence draws him in.

I loved these two so much, Matteo just needs the love and acceptance while Levi longs for someone to take care of. Seeing Matteo find that along with something else he desperately needed was wonderful and it took him awhile but he was able to be happy with himself too. Levi is so understanding and when he sees what Matteo needs he takes charge to help him find it. I am loving this series and can’t wait to read the last book in the series.

The cover art by Cover Me, Darling is wonderful and I am loving how the series is similar but also different at the same time.

Best book in the series!!
Poor Teo was lost when it comes to love and intimacy until he meets Levi doing an interesting project for a friend.
Teo's four older brothers who seem to have love and life figured out. Levi understand him like no other, which is good as there are times Teo was so lost. Levi knows how to handle his ADHD and anxieties about life in general. Levi let's him soak in the littlest (little boy) persona and Levi relishes the daddy mode.

I'd love to see an update on these guys, like say 5 years ahead, see how far they've come.

Copy received from author for an honest review

I will say from the beginning - I am not a fan of the scene ( I don't want to say what it is, I think the reader needs to watch this un this couple find themselves in - it just icks me out - othing against the scene or anyone in it, and I don't care if it is m/m, m/f, dog/cat, it just gives me the wiggins - I know, I am weird.

What I will say though is wow, what a wonderful story Ms Ward has given us with Discovery.

Full of so much love, especially of the familial kind. With every book in this series, I just adore this family more and more.

Throughout the previous books I have adored Matteo's awkwardness. At work, around his family. I feel for him when he feels he isn't good enough, love his klutziness.

Levi, well isn't he all kinds of wonderful, and isn't he all kinds of what Matteo needs.

This book, whilst it has it's kink, this one I found more emotional that sexual. Sure, there is the sexual element to the their story, but Discovery is so much more than that. I don't want to give anything away but gah - read this book!

I am really looking forward to the next (and final, boo) book in this series.

Another hot cover…. Shew!

I feel like I’ve been waiting on this book forever, when in reality, it’s been less than a week since I was introduced to this series….. but wow, did I love them all. In saying that, I was most excited for Matteo, mostly because I love the underdog. I like the venerable boys that need someone to take a little different care of them. Is that weird? Probably….

Anyway, so Matteo is Freddie and Calvin’s baby brother; we got a glimpse in the others in this series, that in my opinion looked like he had some sort of anxiety disorder, or something where he just got in his head too much and sometimes needed to take a time out to deal with everything coming at him at once. He was asexual for the most part, or at least he thought he was, in reality he just hadn’t found what he needed yet.

When his good friend asked him to do him a favor and model some things for his website, he was a little concerned when it had him dressing up in “little’s” clothing and give the allusion that he was an adult baby or toddler. Now, I’ve never delved into age play before, but I’ve found with this one, not only did I really like the idea, I also enjoyed getting to read about it, learning something that I hadn’t known about before. I could see where it would help someone like Matteo, help him feel grounded and his mind to feel quiet.

Levi, was his daddy….. and what a hot daddy he was. Not in the typical sense that I usually like my daddy’s, but meh….. I adjusted, and I’m glad I did. Levi was patient and so understanding with Matteo. He made him feel normal and not broken, which he’d felt for so long.
I can’t imagine what life was life for Matteo, he says he was content, but he couldn’t have been happy. He didn’t know what he needed until Levi came along and showed him what he’d needed….

Sigh….

Telling his brothers, (though not all of it) was easy, but I hated that his mom made such a fuss at first. It made it believable to me though, like real life, because I know I’m going to be about a metric ton more psycho when either of my babies think of leaving me and start their own lives with whomever they choose. So relatable mom.

I could probably wax poetic about this book and the love between Matteo and Levi until the cows come home, but I’ll stop here for now. I will say that I highly recommend this book, even if the kink isn’t quite your thing and you’re thinking about skipping it….. don’t. You won’t be sorry.

5 stars from me!

Matteo had always been lost in his own head, double and triple guessing every move he made. Always working himself into a place where he just couldn't function. Each episode taking a deeper toll. He agreed to a photo shoot on age play. Once there, again losing his ability to function.

The photographers assistant, Levi recognizes that Matteo needs to get out of his own head and sets him to a task that settled his mind. Levi recognizes that Matteo needs the control that only a daddy can bring. Matteo isn't sure that the daddy/little dynamic is for him but he craves the quiet that Levi can help him achieve. Matteo has never been in love or had sex. Never imagined he ever would have either. As Teo and Levi explore their wants, the relationship between them becomes deeper and more meaningful than either expected.

I've read daddy stories and enjoyed them. But never a daddy/little book. Wasn't quite sure how I would feel about this type of story but I thought it was well done. The way that Levi took care of and helped Teo was very heartwarming. Even though Teo was the little, he did the same for Levi. Very satisfying book.

I loved book one and two but 3 have stole my heart.
Teo and Levi’s relationship is serious relationship goals. The author could not have wrote a more perfect couple.

Teo thinks he is weird and destined to be in his own forever and this feeling just gets worse when all his brothers start relationships and moving in together getting engaged ect. He is asexual and thinks that sex is just something for everyone apart from him. That is until he agrees to do a shoot for his friend . That’s when he meets Levi....

Levi has been burnt in his previous relationship. With his kink he thinks that no one will understand it or want to share his life with him the way he wants and needs it. That’s until his meets Teo.

From the moment these too met the chemistry is off the charts. It’s touches on kink and slight BDSM with morning spankings but it’s wrote so lovingly it shows a different side to it.

I highly recommend this book and even though it can be read as a stand alone I recommend reading the series.

I received an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

Truly Amazing!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So much more than just a story. When I found out that Quinn Ward was going to write the Marino boys' stories I was over the moon. I knew they would create magic and that's what they did. They took that nugget and turned it into a gold mine. These are more than some books with kink in it. We get beautifully written stories stories and so much more. What I really like is that in each book it's emphasized that there is nothing wrong with the characters desires. The way Mateo felt about himself broke my heart. No one should ever feel that way. We all are different. Some of us are just better at disguising it. I'm not great at writing reviews but I hope I got the feeling across. This book and the series are must reads for the stories, the knowledge and respect shown, and for the feelings they leave you with. Love who you are and embrace what you desire.

Discovery is such a fitting title for this book. Each of the characters goes through their own discovery to learn more about themselves and each other. The characters are complex, believable and intriguing. The story is engaging, fast-paced and had me wanting to know what was going to happen next. An enjoyable story full of friendship, family, and love.

Levi is a dominant that identifies as a daddy. Matteo feels like he is broken. His ADHD and anxiety cripples him at times. When a friend asks him to be a model for a line of sex toys aimed at the daddy/little lifestyle he reluctantly agrees. Levi sees that Matteo needs the little lifestyle to shut off the part of his brain that constantly undermines him.

Spicy yet sensitive book. I love the ongoing theme of acceptance in this series. Matteo’s family is open and encouraging. Levi works to build Matteo’s confidence and self-acceptance. Sensitively handles the emotional themes that are present. Really enjoyable book!!

DNF @ 78%

I was just reading along because I didn't have a solid reason to stop, even though I skipped the chapter where Levi took a belt to Matteo (aside from minor spanking, I am NOT a fan of pain play). I don't dislike the two of them, but I don't really connect enough with either of them to say I *like* them, either.

But then we get to the forced/coerced enema (I'm sure Levi would call it "pushing Matteo's limits for his own good"), and that was the end for me. Matteo obviously has serious reservations about it, but Levi tells him there will be no sex if he doesn't comply, while Matteo is hornier than a field of Texas Longhorns. Matteo should have safeworded, or Levi should have, if he wanted Matteo to understand why it was important, rather than just enforcing his will. There needed to be a major discussion about it BEFORE it was introduced, not just sprung on him with no prior talk, especially if he wanted to make it a regular occurrence. And then to make him endure it twice, just because he said so? Hard nope. That ended any benefit of the doubt I might have had for Levi.

Wow! I love Discovery by Quinn Ward. As the 3rd book in the Kinky In The City series, it is as fantastic as the others.

I love that we continue to see the couples from the first 2 books. You don't need to have read those to appreciate this book, but it will make this one more precious.

When Matteo is hired to model for some age play furniture, Levi is the photographer who easily steps into a Daddy role to help Matteo feel more comfortable. Neither has any idea what this opportunity will lead to.

One of the wonderful things in this story is that Matteo is demisexual. We don't get to read enough books featuring a character like this. Quinn Ward captures Matteo's sexuality with grace and tenderness.

Of course, I love the Daddy/Age play. I find this to be so sweet in the way it is written. Both men benefit a lot from having this type of relationship and it really helps them to grow as individuals, as well as a couple.

Discovery is a fantastic, compelling read by Quinn Ward. Put aside some time to read this book as you won't want to put it down.

Another great book in the Kinky in the City series from Quinn Ward.
This one follows the story of Matteo and Levi.
Matteo is the baby Marino brother and saying slightly clumsy and scatterbrained would be putting it mildly. After agreeing to model some things for his friends website he ends up dressed and playing in a "little" setting, colouring on the floor, playing with blocks. What scares him is how easy it settles is constantly buzzing kind and his attraction to Levi, the photographers assistant, when he's never experienced it before.
Levi is instantly attracted to Matteo but watching him settle into the little role whilst modelling takes his breath away. When the chance arises to help settle Matteo at the next shoot, he takes it and tries to help Matteo understand why he likes how it makes him feel, both mentally and being sexually attracted to someone.
The steady relationship that builds between the two is so sweet and heartbreaking at times as Matteo reveals how broken he thinks his mind and body is. Levi though is his perfect match, wanting to be his daddy and care for him in every way.
The two men are really well written. Things are taken at a pace that is perfect for Matteo as he learns to accept what it is he likes/wants/needs and also begins to change the way he's set his mind to believe himself as broken. I think a lot of people who don't feel sexual attraction feel this way as it seems to be something expected from the age of about 16, so it's important to read and understand what he went through at those times until he met Levi. Levi's care and building love for Matteo is clear in the way he thinks of him and cares for him in the many different things he does. I love the way that both characters interact with each other, and both of them learning things about Matteo at the same time giving Levi the chance to support him through his thoughts and emotions.
The story goes along at a good pace, no stagnating or rushing through certain parts. The daddy/little role isn't overplayed or in your face and I think can be easily read by those who have never tried it or are new to the trope.
We have glimpses of the rest of the family but they don't play big roles in this story. It's not necessary to have read the previous books in the series but it may help with parts where the other couples are discussed.
I definitely recommend this book and the series, I'm really enjoying it.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

More than just Daddy Play

Mattel is the youngest of the Marino brothers and a bit of a clumsy klutz with forgetting things of dropping things part of the norm.

He is also, unlike his brothers not particularly interested in sex, having never met anyone - male or female - who he had any sense of attraction to other than to notice if they were good looking etc.

All that changes when he does a modelling job for a friend where he takes on the persona of a 'little'. Being forced to dress in a happy (diaper) his anxiety gets the better of him and the photographer, Levi, immediately steps in to calm him and takes on the persona of 'Daddy'.

And so a relationship is born...

Having never really known much about men (or even women) who are into this kind of role playing I didn't understand what it meant other then when I've seen TV interviews of overweight late middle-aged men who like to have their nappies changed and drink from a (baby) bottle.

This book opened up my eyes to so much more than this -in fact there is none of the above in the book - and I've learnt a great deal about the Daddy/Little role.

However, there is more than this throughout the book and the Levi cares for Mattel - whilst being the cared and disciplinarian - is adorable. He gives Two coping mechanisms for his anxiety as well as bolstering him generally.

If you want to learn more about Daddy-play as well as get to know how Levi and Two get on, I highly recommend that you read this book.

*However* if you want to know more about Matteo's interactions with his family before Levi comes into his world, then I suggest you read :
"Exploration" - book 1 telling the story of eldest brother Frankie and his partner Calvin, followed by:
"Challenge " - book 2 telling child number two, Freddie's story of how he meets his childhood ex-best friend Peter after several years apart.

These books can be read as stand-alone books, but I honestly believe you'll gain so much more enjoyment of you read them in order.

Quinn Ward is a fantastic writer who brings his characters to life in full technicolour. His small town creation is a great series and after I read the final book of the Marino brothers series I shall be continuing with the Lodge series, set in the same small town.

Right now though I'm off to get "Adventure" - book 4 - which is all about the twins Tony and Enzo. I cannot wait 😁

Discovery is the third book in the Kinky in the City series by the talented Quinn Ward. This series is everything Quinn promised us and more. I have fallen in love with each of the Marino brothers. They are all special in their own way. Discovery is Matteo's story. We know Teo, he's the youngest brother. He's scatter brained and clumsy. He has views of himself and they are all negative. When he agrees to help out a friend with a photo shot, he learns there's more to the way he feels than he thought. Levi never thought he'd find someone again. Someone who wants the lifestyle and who is ready to learn from him. The Daddy relationship was new to me. I've never read it before and I was a little skeptical at first. But once I saw the dynamic between Levi and Matteo I was sold. Levi wants to take care of Matteo and there's something about Matteo that screams, help me, but not in a I'm helpless way. He just needs something to quiet his mind and Levi has all the answers. Matteo has never felt any sexual feelings before. He's tried and it just doesn’t happen for him and he thinks he's weird and somethings wrong with him. Can Levi show him that he's perfectly normal to want this lifestyle? Will Matteo let himself go and give into these new feelings he has for Levi? I enjoyed this story! I loved getting to know more about Matteo and Levi. I loved Teo's vulnerability and his openness to share his feelings. Levi was perfect for Matteo. Showing him what he needed. Answering all his questions. Loving him. This was a beautiful story of discovery. Matteo was learning about himself while he learned what and who he wanted. He just needed someone to show him the way. And of course I loved seeing his brothers again! I need Tony's story right now!

"Angel, as long as we're together, you're never have to face anything alone again."

"You're amazing, Angel. Don't even let yourself think you're not enough for me. You're perfect and I wouldn't change a single thing about you."

"If I was trying to seduce you, you'd know it."

Discovery is the third book in the Kinky in the City series. It can however be read as a standalone. I had the pleasure of reading Exploration and meeting Matteo. I felt for him even then as the youngest brother of four and him feeling like he couldn’t do anything right. I haven’t read Challenge yet...I want to kick my own ass for that one!

Matteo has always felt different. He has anxiety but it’s not just that. He sees others falling in love, leaving the clubs with their one night stands, or just watch one another with lust in their eyes. He hasn’t done any of that. He hasn’t felt that all-consuming lust for anyone, he just doesn’t see what the fuss is about when it comes to sex. He thought he was broken until he sees him. Levi. The photographer’s assistant on a photo shoot he agreed to do for one of his friend’s kinky website. He had no idea what was going to happen when he signed up but this wasn’t it. And that wasn’t a bad thing.

Levi saw that Matteo was nervous. He was in an adult diaper after-all and he looks so innocent. He wanted to put the twenty-one year old at ease. What he found was that it awoken a side of him that he thought was dead. He wanted to take care of Matteo. To let his mind relax. To be his daddy. But, will Matteo want to be his little? Was this lifestyle for him?

Ok...I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about this Daddy/little kink. But, I trust Quinn so I knew she would ease me into it right along with Matteo. Levi got to me. He really did. He is so understanding and supportive when he came to Matteo. It was so sweet. He just wanted Matteo to be happy, relaxed, and to see that he was not broken. That his quirks were what made him him. The man he wanted to cherish. To love. To take care of. And it was great to see Matteo discover himself in the process.

Overall...I fell for these men and their story.

Quotes:

“If I was trying to seduce you, you’d know it.”

“You do know I’m more than capable of doing that on my own, right?”
“I do, but me doing things like this have nothing to do with your ability to care for yourself and everything to do with my desire to take care of you.”

“One of these days, you’ll realize I don’t joke about the things that matter. You know better than to doubt me.”

I was highly anticipating Matteo’s story, and this book has everything I hoped for. Ever since I read about him in the first two book of the series, I had a soft spot for him. He is just adorable. Shy, awkward, clumsy, sweet, and he is trying so hard to please his mother and his brothers.
I didn’t know what to expect. Knowing the series, I knew it was something kinky, but I didn’t know what this author had in stall for us. Well, I couldn’t be happier, and it was absolutely perfect for Matteo.
Levi knows exactly what Matteo needs, and that is being cared for. What better than a Daddy for Matteo. They are just so perfect for each other. Oh, yes, it is absolutely kinky and steamy. The hotness is oozing from the pages, but what struck me the most is the gentleness, the tenderness, and warmth between them. Even with the spanking and punishment, you feel that Levi wants only the best for Matteo and that he loves him so much. Their dynamics are fascinating. The author gave an intriguing insight into the world of age play and littles. I have read some books with Daddy kink, but not on this level, and it was very interesting to read. The blog post Matteo wrote gave me the best idea of what it meant for him. It felt like he was talking directly to me.
I loved the way their relationship develops. It all goes very natural. Matteo is getting calmer and more grounded. And they learn from each other and keep surprising the other. Even Levi, who has so much more experience, makes the occasional mistake and misjudges the situation. But he is man enough to make amends.
I am glad that we not only read about Matteo and Levi but that all the boys and Mama are back. It is such a great family.
This is the third book in the Kinky in the City series and can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading the books in order as you will enjoy them so much more.
