A little write up on the background of each painting would have been nice but no matter. They speak for themselves! Before I could read I looked at art books of the impressionists, the Pre Raphaelites and the old masters especially the Dutch masters and Italian quattrocento...How i came to study medicine instead of art baffles me..well I wanted to be useful and I did love science.. Even at university any spare moment I was in an art gallery or trawling through the lists on the Art renewal centre, the largest online database of art.
To this day art holds an unparalleled fascination possibly only second to nature..I saw this book at the Musee marmotten Monet and bought it online when I got home. Glad I did as I learned of some artists I haven't come across before like Hugo Muhlig(reminiscent of Millet), Hans Anderson Brendekilde!

I really liked this book, I wanna get it and use it as a calendar. I liked how they selected painting that aren’t as well known, like not all Monet and his water lilies!

It was great. I put it on my table in the living room and there it stayed and I looked at the pictures for the whole year. It's going to be opened again tomorrow. :-)
