A woman, imprisoned for manslaughter, disappears without a trace during transport between states and it’s all up to Dana to find her. Sheila Ford traveled to Tennessee planning to commit an act of pre-meditated murder on her husband. Her lone shot at him misses and kills his lover instead. After pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge, she’s locked away in a Tennessee prison for women. Everyone back home in Ohio wrote her off. She wasn’t eligible for a parole hearing for seven years. When Jennifer Coventry calls begging Sheriff Mel Crane to bring her ailing mother home to Ohio to serve out the rest of her sentence in the county jail, close to home, Mel is reluctant but gives in. The only problem is, she’s so short staffed and can’t send a deputy to do the transport. She deputizes Dana to do the duties. Dana planned to go to Tennessee anyway, to look at a vacation cabin for herself and Mel. A little detour over to Nashville to connect with Sheila and the ambulance transporting her to Ohio won’t be hard, she thought…until everything that could go wrong does, ending up with Sheila disappearing during a rest stop. A multi-state manhunt is on to find the escaped convict and return her to prison, but the circumstances of her disappearance go far deeper than anyone could have imagined. This book is great together with Books 1-10 of The Morelville Mysteries series but it can also be read as a stand-alone mystery. Anne Hagan is the author of more than twenty works of fiction in the mystery, romance, and thriller genres. She writes of family, friends, love, murder, and mayhem in no particular order and often all in the same story. She’s a half owner of the weekly discount eBook newsletter, MyQueerSapphFic, the managing director of the non-profit, iReadIndies, a wife, parent, foster parent, and an Army veteran. She draws from all of those experiences when she writes because truth is often stranger than fiction.
Entertaining read! It's book #11 of 'The Morelville Mysteries' and the plotline and twists are still well-paced, intriguing and enjoyable -- with good supporting characters too. Highly recommended book and series!
It'll take skill, determination and the combination of agencies working together to find the escaped convict. Manhunt, fraudulent claims, the surprising twists and the pacing make this a very exciting read. I look forward to the next one in this series. Highly recommend!
This book hooked me right from the start. I couldn't put it down. It was a real page turner. I finished the book in 2 days which is fast for me. I couldn't wait to find out what happened. This was such a fun read. The author kept me engaged with the characters and plot twists throughout. The ending was a little disappointing though because there were a few questions unanswered about the case they were working on. By otherwise I very much enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it.
I received the book in exchange for an honest review.
I can't describe how awesome this story is because I have so much love for Mel and Dana! Even in the midst of trouble, these phenomenal women weather the demanding and career ending task of trying to find Sheila, an inmate who escaped from an ambulance she was being transported in because she was being transferred to Morelville to serve out the rest of her jail sentence. You cannot go wrong with this book and by extension this entire series because you will always end up wondering what's going to happen next and if you're like me, you might end up sneaking a read at work while you count down the hours until you can get home to devour this captivating story without interruptions!
Finding Sheila by Anne Hagan is another awesomely written story full of adventures. Both main characters Dana and Mel find themselves tangled in a web of lies that threatens to destroy their career. Are they going to be able to overcome the obstacles and uncover the truth? Are they going to survive or the evil forces are greater? One thing is clear, both, Dana and Mel, are willing to sacrifice everything to uncover the criminals in Sheila’s disappearance. The plot appears simple but soon it becomes a complex case and much bigger than Dana and Mel expected. Nice read, great mystery and a vey satisfying resolution.
I really liked this book or episode as I call each book. I love this series. I love the main characters and their family. I'm sad for Sheila, what a parent wouldn't do for their child. When a child is from a dysfunctional family, sometimes it doesn't make a difference.
I'm heartbroken for Caleb's mom. She did her best to distance herself and her child from that family, but he fell in with them anyway.
I love Mel as Sheriff, but I'm sad that she is thinking of leaving the service. She was made for this role.

when Dana goes to pick up an inmate planned for compassionate release to s location closer to the family of the inmate, lethal layers of deceptions and fraud are revealed
is the end of the line for Mel as Sheriff? would Mel be happier if it were the end of her career as Sheriff?
I enjoyed Finding Sheila. This is basically a review of the entire series. Loved everyone one of the books in the series. Loved Mel, Dana and the entire extended family. The mystery in each book will keep you guessing.
A good, solid addition to an excellent series. I would say that these books need to be read in order; to just pick this book up as a starting point would leave the reader very confused. I was given a review copy by the author for an honest opinion.
I like that these are short quick stories but that you learn a bit more about everyone each time. I am looking forward to this next one and how know, new careers for both Mel and Dana?
