Blackout: EMP Post Apocalyptic Fiction
After an EMP bomb detonates over the United States, frying the entire electrical grid, Georgie Fitz decides to take refuge at her estranged father’s cabin in the Rocky Mountains with her boyfriend and his family. When they arrive, Georgie discovers that a group of survivalists have already erected a camp there, and her father is nowhere to be found. As she adjusts to her new normal, she has trouble adhering to the survivalists’ rules. Can she fit in at the camp and find out what happened to her father?
EMP No Power: EMP Post Apocalyptic Fiction
Within twenty-four hours, America turns from the world's power into a crumpling mess. Against unshakable odds, Harper Murphy, army quartermaster and single mother, combats the tides of chaos in this deadly post-EMP struggle.
This was a nine book set with three books being in each set which makes for a very long read.
Hideaway:
I became really attached to the characters in the first set of books. James Weller and his wife Marla endure being stranded away from each other when an EMP hits St. Louis. Marla is at work as she is a reporter for a tv news station and James is at home. He tries any way he can to get to her as everything comes to a stand still when the EMP shuts down the power grid.
A fight for survival becomes the focal point of James and Marla throughout the book. They meet some interesting characters along the way that helps them in their time of need. Out of all three stories, this story was my favorite. Action packed and very intense.
Blackout:
The EMP strikes with Georgie Fitz along with her boyfriend and family heading for the hills to escape the craziness of the city. She decides that she will go to her father's cabin, but when they arrive, they find squatters in the cabin that turn out to be people that have come prepared for the blackout and Georgie's father is nowhere to be found. There were some interesting characters and it was easy to get attached to them. There was quite a bit of suspense through this set of books.
EMP No Power:
When an EMP strikes Washington, D.C. all hell breaks loose. Harper Murphy who is in the army wants nothing more than to grab her husband and son along with some supplies and get her family to safety. What she endures throughout the city and their escape was an intense read.
All three sets of books were suspenseful and nail biting. As I was reading the stories it made me think that this could be considered a true event as if anything ever happened to any of us in the world that happened in these stories, we would all have to learn to survive without the modern conveniences we have around us every day. It would be like living in the stone age literally or at least the pioneer days. Giving this set of books four stars.
Its interesting to me just to see different scenarios of an emp attack, hopefully i never will see one but i could hardly pit the book down, a great read
I didn't realize these were actually 3 completely different stories. I did not read #2, about Georgie Fitz since I had already read the standalone Blackout series by Alexandria Clarke. The first story of James Weller and his wife and friends was decent. They almost accidentally keep surviving and in spite of some of his foolishness, he ends up being brave. #3 had a lot of excitement, though the Army seemed OK with giving resource to the sergeant's family with so much chaos and need for focus. The parts about the town of Brighton were more interesting since it detailed what it might take for a cooperative group to survive such a disaster. Both #1 and #3 do have a lot of typos, grammar and punctuation errors.
The Blackout Boxset was an intense read! DC gets slammed with an EMP. Harper is a Sergeant in the Army. Her focus and determination to save her husband and son from the devastation, to get her family out of the area. Collecting weapons and food, to find a place of sanctuary, lead them to a small Virginia town. All stories in this boxset, show the struggle for survival. A MUST READ!!
This was a really good read some disjointed in a book but overall a really eye opening read. Makes one think that if this really did happen how soon some people would become so lawless, not wanting to help there fellow man, but everyone for himself. Read this I think you are going to like it.
Ok as a fan of apocalyptic stories I have to state that this boxset, all three of these stories are great. EMP attacks with possible or feasible possibilities. This author has choreographed these stories to present beautiful works of art. Thank you Roger Hayden, great job!!😀
My only t is the technical asppect of everything.. There's wrong words used in place of the correct in situations where a decent editor could have made all the difference.. Yet, the actual stories in this box set are intricate a I feel truly connected to the characters. I really enjoyed my past few days of reading..
We've been told that it's just a matter of time before someone hits the U.S. with an EMP. This book gives a person a lot to think about. I wish I still lived in rural Montana instead of in a big city.
I hope to never experience a world without electricity, one where anarchy reigns and lawlessness is the norm. If it comes however, I imagine it will look like it was porous in this series.
Downloaded this book set for free...but I would gladly pay for this set. I couldn't put this series down. I will definitely buy the next book! Didn't want the story to end.
These novels tell of a future without power. All comforts gone. No WIFI, no television, no way of getting around. Hospitals not running. It scares me to no end.
What can happen after an Electric magnetic pulses attack. Norbert into the world after the attack. The hero's are great the bad guys are evil. Check these stories out
I read the books all at one time and though I enjoyed them they became very repetitive by the end. So if you read them...put them down in between the different stories and you will enjoy them much more. A few grammatical errors that were irritating at times, just wish they had been corrected.
Truly enjoyed the triumph, tears and the strength of survival of the characters. Makes you really think about what would you do if the world ended as we know it
Misspellings continue to plague a good story every few pages.
Overall it is a credible description of how a stricken community can organize under exigent circumstances. The gratuitous feelings Harper expressed a bit te up litigious force a
