Toni is clever enough to merge the lives of vampires and werewolves occupying the same world. It gets quite hot and steamy and there is a lot of build up regarding who will be the main character's partner of choice. The conclusion is clever and unexpected and sets up nicely for the next installment. Bravo Toni!
I’m not normally a big fan of series novels but was told I’d love this one...so glad I gave it a read. Lost myself in the world of characters that seemed everyday, yet so much more. I won’t be a spoiler...read this and escape...want more!
Toni brings a new take to the concept of vampires and werewolves occupying the same world, much as in Underworld or the Twilight series. There's plenty of sex (though no doggy-style, which seemed strange) and a lot of drama as the main character tries to choose which wolf to have puppies with. The ending is a surprise, the resurgence of a character forgotten about since the opening act, who changes the dynamic enough to set up a sequel.
I really liked the story; the narrator did a good job at getting into character. Once again, I did have to slow the reading speed since the narrator talks fast. Normally I listen at about 1.8x speed and had to go back to the standard speed. Despite the narrator talking fast, I thought the story was really good, it kept me interested I didn't find myself zoning out as bad as I do with a story that doesn't interest me. It isnt a lot of stories I get where the main character is essentially turned into a supernatural. This is the second book I have read by Toni Goode. I will say I liked this one better than the first book I read, it didnt seem as proloonged in parts. I am not sure where the author is at in their writing journey so I'm trying to be optimistic, since I think its a pretty standard thing to do when you get writers block in the beginning of your writer journey. I hope to maybe read some of their future books as I think they have promise.
Note; there is a large age gap between the love interests. where the MMC is basically old enough to be the MC's father, so if that isn't your cup of tea then I don't recomend starting this book since you dont find that out until your basically to the point where you have to finish the story. And if you are not sure if you're comfortable with age gap romance, maybe start with a book where its 5-10 years difference (especially if you're someone who doesn't really DNF books) Luckily, it doesn't go too deep into it, but it can still be weird to think about. I will say I do want to read book 2 now.
This is the second book I read from this author and I enjoyed this book a lot more than the other one I read from her (the other book was part of a different series). I'm usually not into werewolf stories all that much but this one got my attention right from the very beginning and held my attention all the way through. I know that's a cliche thing to say but its accurate here. The love story between Brianna and John was VERY intense and very soap operaish (which is a compliment!) You really felt their emotions, you lived it with them. It felt like a season of True Blood but one that focuses more on werewolves rather than vampires. I'm looking forward to reading the next one! Great job, Toni!
I really enjoyed this book. Good world building and I liked the characters. It was a fast paced story and it quickly hooked my attention. A dangerous chase scene, Briana discovering her boyfriend cheating, nearly getting into an accident on the road, discovering a man- John- nearly dead and going to the hospital to make sure he was okay. It was like getting hit by waves as different things happened.
I listened to this audiobook narrated by Sean Leyden. He did a good job with the characters and differentiating the voices.
This is both my first book by this author and my first time listening to this narrator.
The way the story is written is a little weird to get used too but the story plot is great and I will say that it kept me interested in the book. I'm looking forward to reading the second book as I was unaware there was a second book till I got to the end and now I'm left with a small cliffhanger.
If you like lover's angst and jealousy this book is for you. Along with all things paranormal.
Oh wow that ending! This was pretty good! A lot of action and good spice! Occasionally the narrator sounded like Kronk from the emperors new groove so that through me off a little bit but all in all this was a good opening to this world for me! There seems to be a ton going on in this world and I look forward to reading more about these characters and world! So much paranormal I love that!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A pagetuning story that keeps you riveted throughout. A story set in modern-day time, but with supernatural beings that most humans are unaware of. You will have to be able to take rather explicit sex scenes or you will not be happy with the storyline. The Narrator does a good job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.
John is literally John Doe and it’s easy to see why Briana falls for him. but Briana does A LOT of falling! Steele gets tripped over too. but it’s diabolical intrigue that’s the story here as an Alpha must produce pups and even tho John’s a widower, he’s got the next chick all lined up despite his thing for Bree.
Brianna's life is turned upside down when she meets John. He knows she is his mate but it Canberra because she is human or so they think. So many things happen because of their connection. Not all of it for the better. I liked this fast paced action-packed book narrated wonderfully by Sean Leyden.
Listening to this is great, the narrator does the story justice. It does end on a cliffhanger since it is the first in the series. There is love, loss and s traitor in just this book!.

Toni draws you in so that you want to know more about the character John. The story is intriguing with a supernatural edge. Overall an entertaining read!
Bree is a twenty-two-year-old, born and raised in a Pennsylvanian small town. She has her life all mapped out – to complete her forensic degree and work for the local police department. However, life is about to get very complicated for this small-town girl as she finds herself thrusted into the supernatural world of Werewolves. In just one night, she and her long-time boyfriend break up, she’s attacked by a wild animal, and she meets John, the tall, handsome, and incredibly built stranger who is about to change her life, FOREVER! The Author has written a story that is loaded with action, passion, and mystery. The barrage of verbal barbs between John and Bree bring just enough humor to balance out this well-rounded supernatural thriller. I love the characters, and my favorite scene stealer is Steel, he’s quick-witted and just an excellent balance to the tension that develops between Bree and John. I love a good werewolf story, and this one didn’t disappoint. If you are a fan of the supernatural kind, love supernatural romance, and enjoy the addition of vampires and witches, then this should be your next book!
