Shamanism Made Easy: Awaken and Develop the Shamanic Force Within

Rate this book
Reconnect with your authentic self and bring meaning back into your life with the ancient, time-tested wisdom of shamanism.

This book is a fantastic and comprehensive introduction to shamanism by a leading expert and teacher on the subject. Shamanism is the oldest and most enduring spiritual wisdom tradition on Earth. It offers powerful practices for healing and finding wholeness, and is appealing to a whole new generation of spiritual seekers.

Shamanism Made Easy, written by a much loved university psychotherapist and shamanic teacher, explains the subject in a clear and easily digestible format, and shows why these deeply transformative techniques are so needed in our challenging times.

In this book, the reader will learn, amongst many things, how to build an altar and create a sacred space, conduct ceremonies and design a daily ritual, connect with spirit helpers, ancestors and descendants, and use dance as a tool for awakening and freedom. Above all, readers will learn what it is like to undergo transformative journeys for personal healing and development.

The book was a decent basic introduction to the subject for beginners like me.
Unfortunately this meant that it was easy to pinpoint whether this subject is quite for me - at present it is not - and lose interest.
Perhaps the writing style just was not for me - it lacked a bit of depth, but perhaps that may be expected from a book in a "made easy" series.
I can see how if you get more engrossed into the subject itself, it can be a good read so my review is extremely subjective on this occasion and if you feel drawn to checking this book out, I would still encourage you to do so and draw your own conclusions.

Lots of good information

This book starts out with the basics and moves into some more advanced practices. All of the advanced practices are discussed, but not practiced in the book. The author clearly makes the reasons for not attempting advanced practices without first knowing the basics. The author goes into incredible details for the basics which if practiced will help any while laying a foundation to build upon for future work.

Tip toe introduction to shamanism, well structured yet somehow I wished for some more theoretical foundation to support the applications presented. Nonetheless a good starting point.
