In this video Bible study (DVD/digital video sold separately)--led by the New York Times bestselling author Lee Strobel-- you and your group will dig into the true Christmas story to sort out the fact from the fiction and the hype from the holiness. The Case for Christmas study helps you reflect on the gospel story of the birth of Jesus in a focused, group-oriented way that might change the way you view the season. During his faith journey, Lee Strobel investigated the real meaning behind all those nativity scenes he saw outside of churches. In this four-week study, Lee reveals what he discovered from consulting experts on the Bible, archaeology, and messianic prophecy as he sought to separate the truth from the tradition. In each session you and your group Regardless of whether the center of your Christmas decorations is the nativity set on your mantle or the presents under the tree, The Case for Christmas study invites you to look beyond the familiar traditions of the season, challenge you to examine the evidence for yourself, and consider why Christmas really matters and why it's still so relevant today. Sessions Designed for use with The Case for Christmas Video Study/The Case for Easter Video Study (sold separately).
Lee Patrick Strobel is an American Christian author and a former investigative journalist. He has written several books, including four that received ECPA Christian Book Awards (1994, 1999, 2001, 2005)[2] and a series which addresses challenges to the veracity of Christianity. He also hosted a television program called Faith Under Fire on PAX TV and runs a video apologetics web site.
The Case for Christmas was written by bestselling author & pastor Lee Strobel. He also wrote The Case for Christ & The Case for Easter. I have heard him preach on numerous occasions when he was one of the pastors of Willow Creek. When I learned that Strobel would be hosting an online study of The Case for Christmas this year, I jumped at the chance to participate.
The study is set up like a small group with each week's video component available, starting on Monday (11/30) of each week. If you have never read one of Strobel’s books or experienced his preaching you are in for a treat. I don’t want to give too much away so I will just give the headings and the prayer for each week. NOTE: If you or anyone you know is “on the fence” about Biblical things, this is the perfect place to start!
Session 1 – Setting the Record Straight Jesus, some of us already believe in you even if we’ve been confused or misdirected about the details of your incarnation. Some of us doubt the stories and aren’t sure what we think about history told in such an ancient Book. Help us to see the real you this season. Open our eyes and our minds to challenge what we’ve always heard. Help us to push back on dusty old traditions and seek the actual truth. We want to know and believe the real story. Thank you, God. Amen.
Session 2 – Beneath the Fake News Jesus, thank you for those with investigative minds like Lee. Thank you that you want us to use logic and reason instead of checking our brains at the chapel doors. Thank you that your incarnation was real and your authority as the God of all creation is true. Help us when we doubt to take those doubts to you and ask the questions we need answers to. Help us to be ready to answer people who ask us why we believe in you. Amen.
Session 3 – A Mind-Boggling Proposition Lord, thank you for this study! We’re learning so many truths that we’ve never known before through Lee and his research. Thank you for how exponentially generous you are. Thank you for your ingenious creativity so that we know there’s not a chance the miracles that have occurred throughout history could be anything other than from your hand. Thank you that you model wild and joyful giving. Amen.
Session 4 – The Prophetic Fingerprint Jesus, thank you for this study into the truth about the first Christmas and your incarnation. We pray that every single hearer of your Word would respond with faith. We rejoice in you, Lord! We praise you for all that you’ve done! We celebrate you this Christmas for you are our Messiah! Amen.
I enjoy Lee Strobel's mostly unbiased writings and investigations. This book is no exception. He backs up his research and talks with subject matter experts in not just a philosophical discussion, but nearly a debate. I appreciate his perspective and the perspectives of those he interviewed. I appreciate these type of books because they are written from the perspectives of former atheists, agnostics, Jews, etc. I feel this adds credibility because they have actually sought out evidence and have come to their own conclusions. This is a good quality, fast read I really enjoyed.
We enjoyed going through this study while watching the videos through Bible Gateway. It's a great study that covers a lot of info in a short time. Christmas is a great time for you to study and to be ready for the questions that may arise as people are more focused on spiritual things.
A shorter extracted version of The Case for Christ, focusing on the parts of the Christian religion that have to do with Christmas. A great read for skeptic and believer alike. What are the proofs that Christ existed, leading to Christmas?
This study guide accompanies the book The Case for Christmas. It is written to promote discussion after watching the companion DVD. Lee Strobel lists the salient points from the DVD lesson, asks questions, and provides a personal devotion section after each lesson.
I enjoy the research and testimony of this individual as he tells of the evidences of the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ. It is as lovely as the testimony of Handel.
Soooo good! Quick reading, right to the point, makes you reflect a lot. Every Christian and non-Christian who is struggling with the baby in the manger should read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This companion guide to Strobel’s video study invites groups to dig deeper into the biblical and historical foundations of the Christmas story. It encourages reflection on prophecy, virgin birth, and the meaning of Christ’s birth beyond tradition. A helpful tool for faith groups wanting to combine study with discussion, especially during the holiday season.
I have yet to read his full book, The Case for Christ. But I am familiar with his story and now I’m familiar with his writing, which is simple and uncomplicated yet doesn’t shy away even a little bit from the hard stuff. I loved reading this during the Christmas season and HIGHLY recommend it for believers and skeptics alike.
