Finding a body facedown in a chocolate fountain isn’t exactly the way earth witch Zola Meadows wanted to start her day. Even worse, her sweet old lady neighbor, Lilly Martinelli, is arrested for the crime. The evidence against Lilly is flimsy at best, and Zola vows to clear her name. Not only to make sure justice is served, but also to get rid of the trouble making cat that Lilly has entrusted to her care while she’s in jail.

Luck is on her side. Lilly’s hotter-than-heck pie-making nephew wants to help. Then again, maybe that’s not such a good idea. Not just because Zola has a romantic past with him, but also because he soon bubbles up to the top of her suspect list.

Zola finds herself wading through a maze of clues and suspects: cheating husbands, purse-grabbing friends, shopping-obsessed daughters, not to mention a little creature running around town tormenting tourists with bad breath and sticky brown goo. With pressure from the coven elders and a sheriff itching to close the case, Zola must put her magical skills to the test in order to discover the true identity of the killer before Lilly’s time runs out.

This is the second book in a series about 4 witches, each written by a different author. This series is about 4 young witches that have the job of protecting Eternal Springs, a small island off the coast of New Jersey. Zola Meadows is an earth witch and owns Cackleberries, a garden shop. She is decorating the lobby of the Eternal Springs Resort and Spa when she discovers a dead body in a chocolate fountain. Lilly, the owner of the chocolate shop and Zola’s neighbor, seems to be the only suspect the police want to persue. Since Zola doesn’t trust the police department to investigate properly she sets out to solve the murder herself. There is also a mysterious creature running around town that she has to banish.

This was a very fun read with an annoying cat, a skunk familiar and a potential romance. I enjoyed this book so much that I am planning to read the other 3 books in the series.

Muy parecido al primer libro pero súper aburrido.
No me había dado cuenta de que cada libro de esta saga está escrito por escritoras diferentes. Lo intentaré con el siguiente.

I had fun with Spell on Earth. Once again we are on the magical island just off the Jersey shore that holds not only the island life, but the portal into a place no one wants to go… but there are some escapees from that portal that need sending back. Our four witches are guardians of the island and the portal. And along the way they stumble across a murder on the touristy island.

This time around we have Zola’s story of helping her friend and store neighbor beat a murder accusation. Plus mind the chocolate shop, babysitting a talking cat, keep her own familiar from pranking tourists with her road kill for goodies trap, crossing words with her three former witch school friends now stuck on the island with her… and maybe catching a romantic break as well.

If you love Cozy Paranormal Mystery then you’ll definitely have a blast with Spell on Earth, or the entire Elemental Witches of Eternal Springs series. I know I did.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Loved it. Couldn't put it down. Started reading it in the morning, finished less than 5 hours later, then started re-reading it. Leighann Dobbs does it again. Another perfect paranormal mystery book 📚. Spell on Earth is the second in the Elemental Witches of Eternal Springs Cozy Mystery series and can easily be read without having tackled the first by another great author, Amanda Lee.
Spell on Earth features Zola, an Earth witch who suddenly finds herself with a lot on her plate, amongst babysitting a cantankerous cat who antagonizes her familiar, looking after her shop and the next-door chocolate shop, on the heels of a nefarious gnome, dodging the other three wily witches in Eternal Springs, all while trying to solve a murder to help out an elderly friend. To spice everything up is her attraction to tall, dark and yummy Tommy and his pies. It all spells out a recipe that will have you addicted from start to finish and then wanting more. A must-read for fans of the genre.

Zola Meadows, one of four witches sentenced to stay on Eternal Spring island due to an accident that happened when they were younger. The four of them have the ability to influence spells that have to do with the earths natural forces, hers has to do with land, soil, and plants. The school they attended burned down and a portal opened that would let in all kinds of unwelcome creatures, and it was their job to protect the island, and by extension the rest of the world.

She discovers the body of a guest to the area face down in a chocolate fountain. While trying to save her friend who has been accused of the murder, Zola also gets to match her wits against one of the more cunning creatures who managed to find their way through the portal.

Another fun story from Leighann Dobbs. This one is part two of a four part series by four different authors.

I loved it!

I liked the animals and that each witch had her own animal.

The book was well written with the killer well hidden until the end. The interaction with the animals was super. I enjoyed meeting all of the witches and their special powers. Zola was a gardener and then there is Evian, Skye, and finally Kenna. The ladies all went to school together and when the school burned to the ground they were assigned to stay on the island and watch over everything.

There was also a handsome guy on the island and Zola has been trying to get him to ask her for a date, But when his Aunt Lilly is arrested for murder, he gets some help to find the real killer from Zola!

If you want to laugh, cry and just be entertained, this is the book for you! Please read it you will not be disappointed!

Chocolate can make you feel young again

Terrific - goes well with the previous book even though by different authors. She is one of the 4 witches left to guard the island. Okay it might have been their fault that a rift has been opened and the magic school burnt down. Her powers are of the earth. The problem starts for her when she finds a dead body in a chocolate fountain. Add in an arrest of an innocent woman, two slightly crazy animals, a gnome bent on destruction, a few errant spells and a crazy attractions to the nephew of the arrested woman. Can she make any sense out of the clues and find the real killer? Great fun read - alright the actual culprit was obvious but her stumbling towards the truth was a great read. Fun characters that really develop from the first book.

I wanted to like this book because the author has written many good books, however, this wasn't her best example. I felt like the main character was befuddled and wandering around without any plan. Of course she had to manage an extra shop and a cat that was part devil, and that had to add to her personal confusion. It seemed Zola didn't even care about the little man she was supposed to banish from the island.

One thing I found totally adorable was Clover, her familiar who is an sweet skunk. She likes to lay in the road and pretend to be road kill! Funny little thing does it for the treats she gets from her "rescuers."

I am enjoying this series and the different viewpoints of the different authors. I don't think the order of the books being read matters, but you just need to read them all anyway for a lot of fun and even romance!

Just doesn't have any magic or a clear theme

I read the first two books in this series, there is no excitement. The way the heroines are presented makes them dull. There is no focus and a death a story is even boring. The witches portrayed talk and act like old ladies. In fact a group of middle aged women would have been more interesting. There is no connecting plots. The witches should be more involved together. You could make more emphasis on the portal then on human deaths. It seems a death a story is the only emphasis in this series. How about more emphasis on the witches working together and interesting and maybe not all evil creatures from the portal. Maybe helping those from the portal to relocate. A little more fun. Also their witch craft is terribly deficient, but the backfire isn't even funny.

Spell on Earth is the Second Book in the Elemental Witches of Eternal Springs Cozy Mystery Series.
This story features Zola Meadow, an earth witch who discovers a body facedown in a chocolate fountain. Her neighbor, Lilly Martinellis is arrested for the crime and Zola is determined to clear her name, not only because Lilly is her friend but also because she is entrusted to take care of her cat who is causing chaos in Lilly's plant shop and with Zola's familiar, who happens to be a skunk.

This is another great book by Leighann Dobbs. While this is the 2nd in a 4 book series, this book reads as a stand alone book. Looking for a little magic and fun? This paranormal cozy is a perfect fun read. Highly recommend it!

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Loved this book. As another reviewer mentioned, it's the 2nd in a four book series written by different authors. This one was written by Leighann Dobbs, and I have to confess I love Leighann's books. The focus of this book is an elemental earth witch named Zola, who although may not be the most skilled witch, is certainly one of the more engaging witches I've enjoyed reading about. I don't want to give away too much of the story, but if you enjoy your cozy mysteries with a touch of the paranormal, then this book should be right up your alley. A great mystery, great characters, and surprise ending - what more could you want?

SPELL ON EARTH by Leighanne Dobb
Enjoyable meeting with the four witches, their pets, and what their duties are. Good insite of what plants to put in, with the opinion of Clover. telling her. How could one not notice a chocolate fountain, finally noticing it was over flowing. A murder, of a wealthy guest at the spa. Wanting to tell Lilly the owner of “Sweet Satisfaction”, what happened. They think it was her chocolate or her, no way, and Zola wants to prove it. If for no other reason, tired of babysitting her cantankerous cat. A delightful, funny plot, you love the witches, their pets, and their personalities. Can read as a stand alone story. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Great story

A great story with a great cast of characters. I new series written by four separate offers about four which is on a tiny Jersey island and told from each which is point of you and each written by a separate offer. In this book we get to meet the earth which has she and her fellow witches go through their day and solve a new mystery.
So far very entertaining and each book has a different personality for each which. A new author writes each book and gives that which their own personality. Check them all out

Boring

The second installment of the Elemental Witches series was a complete let down. Zola was so boring. She was incredibly uninteresting. The guilty party was predictable and the ending was rushed. There was also no chemistry with the " love interest. " I am not familiar with this author, but I enjoyed series by the other 3 authors. This definitely doesn't make me want to read anything by this author.

Fun

I liked this book and really enjoyed Clover and Panuche. Hopefully we see Panuche some more in the future as he isn't a familiar. Less interaction I think in this book between the four witches but not a problem. I do wish they were closer friends but can see how that might be difficult to write with the different authors. Cute mystery and a little more backstory. I am definitely looking forward to the next book on Tuesday.

I have my doubts that the premise for this series holds together. None of the lead characters (evidently each written by a different author?) seem to be particularly bright, so they were left behind to protect humanity? Somebody evidently doesn't like humanity very much. The whodunit portion of the story is pretty trivial, but the character interactions are well-done. I can't say this is a particular favorite, but it is a nice, light read.

This series is written by four different writers. I started it because Gina LaManna is one of the writers (Book 4). The first was okay, but this was definitely not as good as the first one. The writing was clumsy...heavy in nature. She would explain things that didn't need to be explained -- it was the worse when it should have been a joke, but still she expounded. The worst was when she went on about earwax from a giraffe. I get it. I got it. No explanation needed.

Not a fan of this one.

Sweet, sweet death

Zola Meadows is an earth witch, with a lovely garden store called, Cackleberries. Zola and her three other elemental witch schoolmates, have to protect the island of Eternal Springs. There is a vortex where sometimes, monsters get out and the witch that sees them has to catch them and cast them back. The only problem is Zola's magic is a wee bit wonky. Add a murder, a cute guy, a familiar and a cat that talks, Zola has her work cut out for her. Enjoy!

Disappointing

Book Two showcases earth witch Zola, who's busy trying to rescue a friend, wrangle her out of control cat, and subdue a gnome run amok. Zola's much more likable than Skye from Book One, but that's the only improvement. The mystery is banal, the interactions between Zola and Tommy lack chemistry, and there's still no explanation regarding why the foursome is trapped on the island; this read just feels flat.

I'm a great fan of Amanda M. Lee. So I was very hesitant to read this next book in this series since it's not her book. I can say the book follows a similar style to Amanda, and semi carries over the basic storyline from the first book. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of an incompetent witch that is left to her own devices getting rid of a tiny gnome with backfiring magic. Um, nope! You needed help.

Very entertaining. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quick easy read. You will not be disappointed.

This is book 2 in a four part series, with each book written by a different author. It is a wonderfully unique concept! The book works well as a stand alone. You do not need to read the first book to understand the plot of this book.

Happy reading!

This book is about Zola, a witch with a skunk as her familiar, discovering a dead body and trying to find the killer. It is a fun, easy to read story, with likeable characters and I really enjoyed reading it.

This is book 2 of a 4 book series, with each book written by a different author. If they’re all this fun to read, then I can’t wait to read the complete series.

This book is the second of four in the series. Zola Meadows is a witch tasked with protecting the lovely island of Eternity Springs. Zola has two big tasks to accomplish. She must remove an evil gnome ruining amok and solve a murder to help a friend. This cozy mystery is a lot of fun to read. It kept me guessing until the end. Very enjoyable.

This was such a fun read. Just loved it!! Zola is an Elemental Witch in Eternal Springs. When she arrives at work she discovers a body in the chocolate fountain. Her friend Lilly is the main suspect and has been arrested. Now Zola has to hunt down clues to find the real killer and free her friend. I received an advanced copy of the book but the review is voluntary.

I liked the first one better

This was a cute easy read, but I enjoyed book one much, much more. Main character was a little lack luster and the "romantic" interest was completely undeveloped. Murder mystery was cute and well done though. After book one I was excited for book 2, after book 2 I'm nervous book 3 won't be worth the read.

Meh!

I like Leigh Ann Dobbs and have read her books. Her characters in this book are shallow and 'witchy' with a B. Designer product placement without a disclaimer. If I wanted to read a version of reality tv: RWOES - Real witches of eternal springs - Bravo witch edition .. She can do better. Read with lots of 'Rosay' (Rose) or Pinot Grigio
