Why Don't We Fall In Love?

Rate this book
Nyla Monroe prided herself on never falling in love. She wore it like a badge of honor. Unlike her free-spirited friends, who freely loved, she created a rule book that gave her specific instructions to follow when it came to guarding her heart. Over the years, Nyla allowed her painful childhood to be a blanket of protection and reason behind being anti-love.

At thirty years old, Nyla finally grew tired of her Mother's coddling ways and decided it was time for a change. Unsure of the first place to start looking, the person who has always guided her steps in and opens his home to her - her best friend Chea Bradley. Whenever these two are in the same vicinity of one another, a harmony of love encompassed them to the point of suffocation, but what can be done when one is determined not to fall?

Uprooting from all she knew, Nyla heads to Colorado with the intentions of getting her business off the ground. Along the way of expanding her brand, it seems Cupid has a bow with Nyla's name on it ready to strike its target - her heart, causing her to be open and honest about her feelings.

Chea Bradley is a man of strength and determination. Every step he has taken in life has been calculated down to the house he would buy. Unlike Nyla, who is blind to their unmeasurable chemistry, Chea steps in and gives Nyla all the love and strength she never thought she needed. But will that be enough? Will these two best friends of eight years do the unthinkable and embrace the inevitable, or will the fear of falling in love keep them stagnate?

Prior to reading this book, I read two of the author's other books ("I should have chosen you" & "Our Type of Love") which I thought were really good. This one fell short, nothing about the characters in
this book moved or interest me. Some of the dialogue was like a repeat from her other books. What really was annoying is when the Hero would say "sing to me baby", he would you use this phrase answering the phone or when he needed the Heroine to talk to him. Is this a new slang??? Ugh! Ugh! it was irritating.

A love that surpasses all understanding

First let me just state that in a short amount of time this author has quickly become one of my favorites! I can guarantee 3 things when reading a novel from her: I will fall in love, I will feel the characters faith, and I will be thoroughly entertained.

Nyla and Chea was a great friends to lovers tale. The amount of love that Chea had for Nyla had me hooked from the beginning. Like seriously where can I find my Chea bae? I loved that he recognized what was made for him and set out a plan then executed it. One of those plans I was like brother you did not think this through but you will learn & he did.

Nyla sweet Nyla! I felt her hurt and tried to accept her pain. I couldn’t be quick to judge her because well simply put hurt people often times than not block blessings of the heart thinking they could save their arm by cutting off the elbow. Fear makes us do some crazy things

All & all I loved this novel 💕💕💕

LOVED IT-CHEA& NYLA❤

Chelsea Marie has done it again with another beautifully well written novel. She has definitely become one of my favorite authors. When reading a Chelsea Marie novel, you are instantly drawn to her characters through every emotion. What I love about Why Don't We Fall In love is Chea and Nyla, these characters develop a great friendship throughout college and years later their feelings for each other have grown into love. Because they both cherish the bond of friendship, neither of them want to risk it by taking things to the next level.
Chea is definitely bae in this book. He is very attentive to Nyla's feelings about her father and her anxiety of being alone. I love that he finally gets the courage to just put his feelings on the line and takes a chance on building a loving relationship with Nyla. Excellent. Highly recommend reading.

Nyla and Chea, so cute!!! Nyla had me screaming at my kindle, she was irking my nerves. I loved how Chea was patient and had a plan in place to get his girl. Great book, and excellent storyline.

I really enjoyed this book. I do wish it had a little more drama. This is the first time I read a book from Chelsea, but it definitely won't be the last.

Amazing!

Absolutely amazing love story! I don’t know where to begin. This book held my interest from beginning to end. I felt all emotions and words from each page. The way Chea showed and expressed his love for Nyla cannot be explained, you have to read it to feel it. Chea, OMG every time he said Sing to me Baby, my heart was full. When I say the author is gifted, this is beyond talent. This is one book you have to read for yourself to understand the magnitude of mental, spiritual, and emotional connection that soars through the characters and pages. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

Falling In Love is Easy

Chea is King Book Bae 2019. This was a really intriguing love story. You read in most books where women are on the forefront fighting for love and affection. The author in this tale gives you the raw unfiltered details behind how a man's loves a women. This story will make you fall in love with Chae one the basis of how poetic his love is; how in tune his heart is, how hard he fights. This man goes through great lengths to solidify his love and I was all here for it. The book was recommended and I'm glad I read it. Definitely enjoyed the writing and the story.

Loved it, but was so torn writing this review.

I’ve never loved a book so much but also had such bad feelings towards it. I’m going to try to express that without being confusing in this review. Okay the hero, Chea is my favorite type of hero. TO AN EXTENT. They loved each other for years, but they’ve been best friends. They weren’t mature or ready enough for anything else. He was alpha and expressive with his feeling. I mean the author did a wonderful job with that. He was a man that was in touch with himself enough to be vulnerable for the woman he loved. He didn’t take no for an answer when it came to them being together. So you’re probably wondering, okay what’s the issue? Now him and the heroine (Lyn) weren’t technically together I will admit to that. BUT they were working towards it he had told her he wasn’t waiting on her anymore and they would be together. He was just waiting on her to confirm it. YET he still had sex with his ex after that. And after he got her a job WITH THE EX. After she had moved to another state to live with him. (Under the impression of friendship. But they both knew things would change). You love her so much but can comfortably do that? Put her in a situation where the triflen ex can potentially throw that in her face. That didn’t sit right with me at all. And I almost stopped reading the book right there. AGAIN they weren’t “technically” together. But when he tells her (I can admit he’s a honest man) and she says what if the roles are reversed? And the THOUGHT along upsets you?!?!???! Hello!!!! You should’ve used that thought as a, HELL NO I SHOULDN’T BE DOING THIS!!!! The saving grace was when they made it “official” he was all in and cut her off completely. It still rubbed me the wrong way. But the love they had for each other and the commitment to making their relationship work was amazing. I have never read a book where it captured the love for each other so vividly and expressively. I loved the heroine she had her demons that she held on to, too long in my opinion. But I loved her character. She reacted how I would’ve in some situations. Not sure if that’s good or bad. Lol. This was a great book, the love you felt through the pages is what did it for me. So besides that hiccup, which is my personal opinion. I would definitely recommend this book. Great read!

I Want To Rewrite The Stars

Chi Chi Chi Chea! Yaaaaaaaasssssssss honey girl! He had me at "Sing to me baby" and I was gone at "Now let me in!" Baaaaaaby, when I tell you that Chea is saying all the right words and bringing the pain; HE IS BRINGING THE PAIN. Sexy Wakanda African Tiger, Touch Me On The Inside And Make Me Call Your Name LOL!!! Chelsea Marie, I love you. If anyone is looking for a great book to read, I suggest this book. This author has become another favorite. I love the way she expresses herself through pen. She is so detailed with her characters that it makes you feel like you're in the story. The way Nyala was developed OMG! We saw her troubles, felt her fears, and watched them unfold as she grew. We (readers) went through with her. Now, don't let me get started on Chia Pet. Lawd, have mercy on my womb. That man had to have come from the loins of Zeus. Please take the wheel. Any male species that's on the SWAT TEAM get at me. I'm trying to see something LOL! I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I love how Nyala forgave her father. There is something about the power of forgiveness. It has the ability to heal whole nation. I loved the scene when she crawled into his hospital bed an asked her mom to play their song. While it was playing, he took his last breath. Nothing but tears! I officially dislike you Chelsea Marie (but in a good way). I'm so in my feelings. Rico was something else. His silliness puts me in the mind of Rule from B. Love's Rule & Camryn. That fool has my side hurting. He has it bad. I was overjoyed when Nyla finally released herself. I was always rooting for her. "Sing for me, baby. Close your eyes. What do you see? You. That's my girl. Take on my strength...." Whew, I'M DONE! Get the book. BYE!!!!!

I'm starting to pick up on a pattern...... Chelsea writes a lot about those that we may consider uncanny, weird,.... crazy even. Not that it's a problem, but I've taken note. I love that she has a way with words that makes you stay engaged while making you use your mind. For You I Will is hands down my favorite work of hers. However, this book will not disappoint.

Chelsea takes us on yet another quest to unravel the issues that plagues her newest subject (Nyla) This book takes us through Nyla's journey of overcoming her deeply rooted "daddy issues" that many of us women of color suffer with. It's funny how Chea knows exactly what he wants and has no issue pursuing just that. Like a lion drawn to it's prey he refuses to settle for not having Nyla in his life. Nyla's most difficult task lies in not allowing her demons of her past to get in the way of experiencing a love like no other.

Sweet story

This was my first read of Chelsea Maria but will not be my last. Nyla was very frustrating to me with her fear to accept Chea's love. I could understand her anger with her father because of the way his drug use affected their family she was holding it against Chea and he was only guilty of being a man and loving her unconditionally. Chea was wrong to keep sleeping with Sam after he broke up with her and moved Nyla in, and then asking her to give Nylah a job, that was very low of him. Sam"s tactic of trying to break up a relationship with the I'm pregnant ruse was low and played, but hey I understand her intent, (If I can't have you Ivan going to make sure she doesn't want you). Glad Nyla came to her senses and about her relationship with Chea, and loved that man like he LOVED her. Loved me some Moe and hope she gets her story, maybe even with Rico😉😉

5🌟 must read!!

This author has written another emotional banger. This book will take you through so many different emotions. Chea was what every woman dreams about having. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for Nyla. He knew how to put his feelings aside for the benefit of the friendship and relationship that he wanted with Nyla. He was able to love her through her pain, hurt, and insecurities. Nyla didn’t understand the position Chea was really playing in her life. This story proves how the best relationships begin with a friendship. I enjoyed this book from the beginning and didn’t want it to end. I would like to see a story with Moe and possibly Rico. I highly recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed.

Yo ok... so um... I'm writing this review from my rocking chair on the porch with no tissue for these SWEATING eyes of mine. Chelllllllllllsea, you diddddddd that!!!!! I have read all your books. Now, I saw plenty posts. I shared, I liked, and 1 clicked immediately. What I did not do was read the synopsis or sneaks. I didn't feel like I had to because your style is just that dope. So with that said, I am so SOOOO glad I read this book. It was the right amount of love, dopeness, serious undertone, and FUNNY. I loved it. Their friendship Moe and Nyla had me missing my bestie that just moved 7 hours away, 3 weeks ago. The love Chea and Nyla shared was so well meshed. Nyla and her dadddddd, Girl, brought me to tears.
One of the best books I read in 1sitting...

Chea had the patience and forgiveness of Jesus himself

Chea made this story! He really was a good guy that set his sight on what he wanted and made it happen. Extremely forgiving, patient and an attentive kind of guy. You knew the love was real with all the dramatics and over the tops Nyla was throwing his way and yet he still loved her unconditionally. Nyla was literally stuck In her past relationships that it ruled and shaped her whole life. She had no free will and she had to be pep talked by everybody. Her antics were annoying and I don’t think she deserved Chea whole heartedly. But I’ve went through dang near the exact same experience with my father also so I KINDA get her. Home girl has a lot of soul searching and growing.

Sing to me Baby

Wow this book was totally unexpected! Nyla, one of the main characters was something else! At first I didn't know if I really liked her, she was clingy and blamed her father using drugs and leaving her and her mother on falling in love. She had the love and support from her mother, best friend Monique (Moe) and Chea her Pudding. I really did like Chia Pet as Moe liked to call him, he knew what he wanted and he never gave up on Nyla who acted very immature at times. Chea did have his flaws as well such as sleeping with his ex after telling Nyla he was interested in Nyla as more than a friend. Really enjoyed this author work and had me laughing at the Nyla, Chea and Moe. I'm hoping that the author writes about Moe next. Great book that I would recommend!

All the feels!

Chelsea did her good writing, you hear me?! This book takes you through so many emotions. Nyla is such a beautiful soul. Even in her anger, she really was connected to others. Her feeling so deeply was a blessing and a curse. And how do you even describe Chea? He was love personified. Everyone should want a Chea of their very own. The deliberate way he loved Nyla, even when she thought he was just being her best friend, was beautiful! Their meeting was kismet and he never let her journey to wholeness discourage him from loving her. Now Moe was the girl! She has to have her own book next. And Sam is not even worth mentioning. She got everything she deserved.

Nyla and Chea

Let me start off by saying Ms. Chelsea you did your thing girly!!! I loved Ny and Chea. I liked the fact that he never hide his feelings for her but still prepared to love her when it was time. He did not rush her or pressure her. He let her come to him but once he had her he never let her go. Like a lot of women afraid of love or being hurt, Nyla had problems that needed to be fixed within herself. She needed to be ok with her past and the hurt it caused. I loved the relationship with her mom because I have that same one with mine. Having someone to lean on is a great thing!! Never a disappointment honey, loved this book!!!

Amazing Read

Author Chelsea your writing is so passionate, exquisite, phenomenal. Reading your 📚are like reading a fairy tale. As a little girl I love the story of Cinderella and how she got her Prince in the end. So in saying all of that you are the urban adult writer of my favorite book Cinderella. There's no evil step sisters in your adult version. But your characters have a different version self love, self worth, forgiveness, fear and so on.... But in the end they'll get there Prince. Thank you for my fairy tales.

You've done well

I am so loving on Moe. She is the best bestie in the world. AND she has enough sense to let Nyla know when she is wrong when it came to Chea. Tell it like it is.🎼 I don't know what I would have done when it came down to Sam but Chea and Moe handled that with precise grace. One of my best parts of course. I was so proud of Nyla resolving her daddy issues. That part will bring you to tears. Now what about Rico and Moe. I am dying to know if they will get a storyline.

Whew this was everything

Cheaaaaaaa this man was bad for real! Just the right amount of aggression all the live a woman could stand and he knew his to handle Nyla. You kept me interested from beginning to end. This man had me dreamy eyed lol. This is the perfect kind of writing to me when love wins. Your writing skills are bomb and I'm sure you'll just get better as time goes on. I am a true filter of your work now and I can't wait til the next book drops. I would love to see someone tame Moe because she is something else!

Nyla and Chea 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Why Don't We Fall In Love? Is an amazing story of true love. The H/h are Chea and Nyla. They knew from the time they met, that they belonged to each other.. Nyla has trust issues and Chea had past issues. Chea allowed nothing to get in his way of being with Nyla. He didn't rush her but he made sure she knew that he wanted everything from her. Her love, weakness, flaws, fears all of her. He let her come to him. Once she did, there was no turning back. I love the secondary characters also. They also made this story rock!! Thank you Chelsea Maria.👏👏

Sing to me, baby

I heard Chea in my ear whenever he said that to Nyla. That Sexy Wakandan African Tiger had me wanting to move to Colorado and check out their SWAT team because wow!! This story felt personal for me because of the father issues Nyla had. Her fear of loving and losing, her attachment to her mom, I felt that. Moe is my girl!! I sense a Rico and Moe tangle in the mix.

Chelsea Maria is a new author for me. I really enjoyed the close friendship that Nyla shared with Chea. The love he had for her proves that guys can actually get out of the friend zone. Chea did all he could to show Nyla that she was loved and cherished in spite of the issues she had that was holding her back from accepting true love from a man.
Why Don't We Fall In Love was a quick and enjoyable read and I'll be looking for more novels from this author.

Black love

When you have to gather your thoughts properly because Chelsea is already an AMAZING author and then releases another book and just keeps blossoming to greater! Chea was just everything 😌 a grown man that knew exactly what he wanted WITH patience and made the necessary adjustments to make it happen. Nyla had me screaming let that hurt go boo(lol) but I understood exactly where she was coming from with her issues and she was woman enough to admit her wrongdoing.

Man!! This book was simply 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I’m never big on writing reviews, but this book deserves it. This book gives you the depths of highs and lows of friends becoming lovers. It’s well defined on the good of loving your best friend. It gives you the good of what can happen when you let God direct your heart to your lover. I love this author and every book she’s pinned has a special place in my heart! I loved each character and what they displayed in this book!! Great job hunnie

Wow

The words to describe this book is unexplainable. When i started reading this book i knew it would be one of the best books i have read so far this year. Chea was determined to love Nyla even though she fought him tooth and nail. I loved that he challenged and changed her for the better. Sam was who she was and im glad that she turned out not to be pregnant. Im glad that Nyla made peace with her dad. Loved it from beginning to the end.

Good

This story is good. I'm not going to lie, Nyla got in my nerves. Her severe insecurities cause her to be depended on others instead of truly finding her own strength. Thank goodness that Chea is here for her no matter what and his love helps her to let go of her hurt, pain, and insecurities. Chea is a good man who listens to God and his will for his life and his life with Ny.

Oh my goodness

Loved it. Nyla has built a wall a round her heart, protecting herself from the pain and hurt her drug addicted father cost. The only three people she let in is her mother, her friend Moe, and her pudding. Her pudding has loved her for 8 years, as one of her best friends. His love has moved from the friend zone, to she is the one God made for me. How do these two move from being best friends too lovers. Fantastic story💗

I am enjoying this author's work more and more!

Beautifully written story even the drama parts were well told. Not over the top nor dreamed out either. Nyla at times worked my nerves, but I understood it was past experiences not dealt with. Chea Bradley aka "Sexy Wakandan African Tiger" LOL, LOL LOL!!! He was so worthy of every swoon I had. Will be looking forward to reading what's next.

Great Job!!

Hands down I can put this as a number 1 for me. I have read so many books over the years but none have made me cry real tears over the emotions it brought out. I’m so grateful that Nyla was able to forgive her dad and get their relationship on track. Chelsea you did that. Amazing read!!
