Layton Green is a bestselling author who loves to tell powerful, edge-of-your-seat stories across a range of genres, including mystery & thriller, suspense, horror, and fantasy (and often blending them together). He is the author of the Dominic Grey series, the Blackwood Saga, the Genesis Trilogy, and other works of fiction. Layton's work has been nominated for numerous awards (including a rare three-time finalist for an International Thriller Writers award), optioned for film, published in multiple languages, and has reached #1 on many genre lists.
In addition to writing, Layton attended law school in New Orleans and was a practicing attorney for ten very long years. He has also been an intern for the United Nations, an ESL teacher in Central America, a bartender in London, a seller of cheap knives on the streets of Brixton, a door to door phone book deliverer in Florida, and the list goes downhill from there.
Layton lives with his family in Southern California. You can visit him on Facebook, Goodreads, or on his website (www.laytongreen.com).
This KU library three book boxed set chronicles the journey of three brothers from Earth after they are transported to Urfe, an alternate dimension where wizards rule. Book one largely keeps the Blackwood brothers together in this strange and deadly place, book two takes them on two paths, and book three has each on a separate quest. The storyline is interesting and the characters and world building are well developed. I've checked out book four and, after the deaths of so many close to the brothers, am cautiously optimistic about the outcome.
Emotional rollercoaster. Through all three books the ups and downs have been continuous. Mixing it up with each brother's quests , their joys, fears, triumphs and loses has been a real delight. I hope book 4 doesn't take long to get on the shelves.
An adventure brokered through many different realms, intense, romance, despair all of which the Three Blackwood brothers face in this other world that their father once called home.
This box set is really good. Good characters, fast paced and exciting. I had never heard of the author but saw it offered as a cheap read and took the bait. I have already downloaded the next one from kindle library and recommend the series to everyone.
The story has good pacing and leaves you wanting to know what happens next. The author is good at creating atmosphere, painting a picture in the minds eye of exotic worlds parallel to our own.
I couldn't put it down! The descriptive writing made me feel like I was there! As I D&D player, I could relate to the way Will thinks. I recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy!
Holy nerd references batman! Lol. These books are very fun to read. A bit long winded in places, but the general storyline is cool. The whole "destined for greatness" trope is over done on many levels but it's entertaining. I do think I'll carry on reading.
