DEVOTIONS FROM THE BEACH is a beautifully done devotional that would be a lovely addition to your beach bag, a gift for a beach lover, or a summery addition to your decor--especially if you love the beachy look.
Each devotion starts with a verse, a beach themed devotion, and then a prayer. They are accompanied by a lovely photo.
This is an absolutely beautiful book, perfect for gift giving, too.The devotions are not really deep, but they are perfect for a minute or two of quiet time with God. And there is opportunity to take it deeper.
I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

“As you rock in your hammock or have a quiet morning moment with coffee and your Bible, think about the times God has delivered you. Consider the blessings He has showered upon you,” Miriam Drennan and Betsy Painter end one of their short devotions in their book, Devotions from the Beach.
~ What ~
At two-hundred-twenty-four pages, this hardbound book targets those who love spending time at a beach or waterfront as it relates to God. Using mainly the New Living Translation of The Holy Bible, also referenced are the NKJV, ESV, NIV, and MSG. A cream ribbon marker is attached.
After an ownership page and table of contents, this book contains one hundred devotions, each one being one page long with beautiful full-color photographs of beaches, waves, sand, sea animals, seafood, and serene scenery. Beginning with a title and written Bible verse underneath it, several paragraphs relate to the topic regarding enjoying or being at a beach. A short prayer ends each devotion.
Some of the titled devotions are The Strength of Sea Oats, Feeding Birds, Follow Those Footprints, Reflections, Escape the Ebb Tide, Better Boat Shoes, Rescue Required, Pebble Beaches, Something’s Missing, A Seahorse’s Tail, The Parrot-Fish Specialty, Poolside Retreat, Jumping Waves, and Boardwalk Choices.
~Why ~
I appreciate devotionals that have little information about the author but focus on God, and this book does that. The stories are brief and to the point, correlating to God and His grace, love, beauty, and creativity. Old and New Testament verses are included.
A favorite was Lighthouses with Micah 7:8 NIV written out about the Lord is our light. While lighthouses are mysterious, solitary, and majestic, they serve a purpose in protecting us. The Lord wants to be the beacon in our lives, just as Micah realized when he felt alone at times. God has a different perspective that is the Light that guides us through life. The prayer asks for the Lord’s strength and light as we trust in Him.
~ Why Not ~
Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not want to get a book that focuses on getting closer to the Almighty. Others may wish there were enough devotions that covered a full year. I found the topics are not in depth.
~ Wish ~
With the stunning photographs throughout the book, it would be thoughtful to give credit at the end of the book from the photographers. I do not care for The Message version of Scriptures so have to look up the King James Version translation for accuracy.
~ Want ~
If you like devotionals with beautiful photographs and short reading, this is an excellent choice for someone who loves the sounds, sights, and scenery of the beach. It would make a beautiful addition to a beach cottage or an oceanview bed-and-breakfast bookcase or bedside table.

I was attracted to this book because of its beautiful cover and because it was about the beach...which is my ultimate happy place! All of the devotions have a coastal theme, and it's a great gift for any lover of nature and beauty. Each day begins with a Biblical passage, goes on to the short devotion, and then ends with a prayer. There are also interesting facts and tidbits about the coast! The beautiful, glossy, full-color pages, hardcover spine, and built-in bookmark round out the book's beauty, making it a nice gift option - even to yourself! I can't always get to the beach, but I can steal away, open the pages, and immerse myself for a few moments...

A great book to pass the time and make you home sick if you miss the beach. It gives you a positive feeling and messages that you can find encouragement in. I think that if you have a faith in God and a will to be happier or more constant in life, this book can help you find that bit of peaceful moments

I realize I am writing the first one-star review. The truth is that I just did not enjoy this devotional at all. I found it to be cliche and cheesy. The metaphors and comparisons often did not make sense. I’m accustomed to devotionals having a bit more depth; this one was simple and I suppose would be a good fit for someone who is looking for something very light.

Best devotional I have read in a very long time. Beautiful photography paired with meaningful and insightful devotions sandwiched between a verse and a prayer. Comforting, moving, encouraging, and some even with a bit of challenge to help you grow and learn. Many days I would read more than one because I simply craved more. I couldn't get enough of this book.

Devotions from the Beach: 100 Devotions by Thomas Nelson is a lovely hardback devotional that is full of inspiration. This would make a lovely addition to your beach reads or for any beach lover.

Devotions from the Beach, penned by Miriam Drennan and Betsy Painter and published by Thomas Nelson is a gorgeous, inspiring, and poignant collection of devotions.
Drennan and Painter expertly and creatively put together 100 separate devotions with a beach theme, with topics ranging on everything from lighthouses to scuba diving to pool floaties to sea turtles. All begin with a relevant and refreshing piece of scripture, and end with a simple, moving prayer.
I thoroughly enjoyed every one, and was hit emotionally by several. There is one in particular called “A Soul-Healing Sunrise,” that I know I will return to time and time again, because it so perfectly describes the presence of God and the chance to start anew in a beach sunrise.
Every devotion is paired with a gorgeous photograph of something beach-related, which creates a peaceful and stunning ambiance and the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful devotions.
This book is perfect for your beach-loving friend, and is a must on every beach house coffee table. It is one I will pick up over and over again.
