Rate this book
When her dad and his annoying girlfriend announce their engagement, Chris Wilson isn’t exactly thrilled. As if getting roped into bridesmaid duty for a future step-mom she can’t stand weren’t bad enough, Chris is stunned when Marsha accuses Chris’s deceased mother of trying to ruin the wedding.

Certain their mother moved on to the Great Beyond long ago, the Wilson sisters investigate who—or what—is really out to get Marsha. With marriage fever making everyone crazy, can the sisters get to the bottom of this haunting in time to save the wedding? And do they even want to?

Jean Marie Bauhaus

Jean Marie Bauhaus is a traditionally-published and indie author of five novels and counting, as well as a number of novellas and short stories. She also writes freelance articles about dogs for a living.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, she currently makes her home in the middle of the woods deep in the Ozark mountains with her own dog, a fierce and mighty Chihuahua named Pete, her husband of 13 years, and a gaggle of other four-legged dependents. When she’s not writing about ghosts, zombies, vampires and other things that go bump in the night, she can usually be found hiking the side of the mountain or trading her keyboard for knitting needles and curling up with a mug of tea and a horror podcast.

Or at the microwave, re-heating her tea because she forgot to drink it before it got cold. #writerproblems

Jean has a Bachelor of Science in Social Science, Psych/Soc emphasis, which means she’s smart enough to finish college but not smart enough to choose a major that’s actually useful. But it comes in handy for building psychological character profiles and developing post-apocalyptic societies.

Easily spooked by ghost stories as a child, teen Jean faced her fears by forcing herself to watch horror movies and read Stephen King until she fell in love with the genre. As a grown-up (more or less, depending on who you ask), her tastes expanded to include a broader range of speculative fiction and romance, but she keeps coming back to the supernatural and paranormal. She has a strong affection for all things zombie-related, which is a good thing considering she’s currently writing a trilogy in that genre. Watch for Desolation of the Damned, the third book in her Walking Dead/ True Blood mashup Trilogy of the Damned, to come out in the summer of 2020.

Bound Spirits was a first read for me from Jean Marie Bauhaus. I have to say she is an excellent storyteller, I fell in love with this novel and have to read the other ones immediately! The story is unique, fast paced, and unexpected. Chris is so easy to relate too!

Another great volume in the Restless Spirits saga!

The best part of these stories for me is always the interaction between the characters. As in previous episodes, the main cast members return, some minor players are expanded upon, and some new additions are introduced. The interaction between Chris and Ron in this volume is even more sharp, witty and fun than in the previous stories. Not to mention how darling are their relationships with their fellas, Derek and Joe. Their dad, however, is a complete jerk, and I just wanted to smack him through most of the book. Surprisingly, Marsha somehow turns into a real person by the end of the tale, rather than the fake ditzy Barbie persona she espouses for much of the story.

The danger in this volume is probably just as real as in the first two novels, but it didn’t seem quite as scary since it wasn’t exactly directed at Chris this time around. The fact that it was such a powerful force from beyond the grave was quite disconcerting. But the stories behind the mystery were unique, surprising, and masterfully woven together.

This is probably my favorite book yet in the Restless Spirits series. They just seem to keep getting better and better. I do hope the author has a few more stories up her sleeve for us with the Wilson sisters!

I received a free eBook copy of this title from the author, NetGalley & Xpresso Book Tours and have willingly provided an honest review.

I received a ARC of Bound Spirits from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. I’ve never heard of the author or read any of her books before this book. When I started I didn’t know it was part of a series, it was a good read alone but I feel it would have been a even better read if I would have read the first two books in the series because it would have given a better connection to the characters and provide more of a solid background. This book was good enough that I will get the first two books and hopefully will come back and update this to a five star. There where a few typos but since the book hasn’t been released yet I figure they have time to correct them. It did not take away from the story. It was a smooth read and I enjoyed it. I loved the relationship Chris and Ron have and I know I would love them even more if I’d read the first two books. If you like paranormal, ghost and family drama and romance this is a good book for you. It’s simple and sweet and not too much crazy going on. This book hasn’t been released yet so read the first two books and preorder this now!

The Wilson sisters Chris and Veronica are ghost hunters—they go around trying to free people from haunting spirits. But here’s the catch – Veronica is a ghost!

There’s a whole lot of family mysteries going on, some of which begin to unravel when their dad declares his intention to marry Marsha, a woman the sisters cannot stand. When Marsha becomes the quarry of an angry poltergeist, the sisters, along with their boyfriends Derek (alive) and Joe (dead), take us on a wild ride to find out just who or what is doing the haunting.

Who doesn’t love a good ghost story? But this story is also about sisterhood, even from beyond the grave. Ron hasn’t “crossed over,” because of the bond she has with her sister and the sense there is still something she needs to accomplish. She may be a ghost, but she struggles with all the typical fears and longings of any young woman, as well the regret of never getting to experience marriage and children for herself.

This series would make a great TV series. It has strong, engaging characters, a fast-moving plot and lots of loose ends and unexplained mysteries. This is the third book in the trilogy, but I hope it’s not the last!

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is my first read by this author and after reading this I would definitely wants to read more by her. I love that sisters in this series are ghost hunters. They are investigating a spirit that is after their soon to be stepmother. The stepmother things it is her soon to be husband's deceased wife. So the sisters believe that their mother has moved on long go and needs to find out who is really behind these attacks.

Not what I was expecting. A sweet and quick read, though.
