I write action-packed sci-fi and historical fantasy. I want to immerse readers in another time and place and for my stories to be gripping adventures. You should love my complex heroes and hate the twisted bad guys.

If you like the sound of that then check out; GODS OF BRONZE (my new historical fantasy series), THE IMMORTAL KNIGHT CHRONICLES (bestselling historical fantasy) and the GALACTIC ARENA series (smart military scifi).

Thanks for taking an interest in my stories. Follow me here on Goodreads to keep up to date with releases.

Great book

Once again the hunt for William is the all important thing to the Immortal Knight. We find that the Knight has traced his brother William to the Near East where he is sowing much trouble for the human population.

TWO STEP FORWARD, ONE STEP BACK.

Books one and two in this series are some of the best I've read in ages. Full of action, keeping me on the edge of my seat and unable to put them down till I got to an end of each chapter, riveting stuff. Although book three is just as good in it's own way, for me, it was a much slower read, less exciting, plus we see little of the real vilian, William

Another cracker of a book, you follow Richard through his highs and lows of meeting the mongols, the story of his search for his brother continues. New characters are met and lost, but all are interesting and there are twists and turns in the story you'll enjoy.

Vampire Khan. Dan Davis

The immortal knight Richard of Ashbury, a vampire is now fighting the Mongols. The year AD 1253. His enemy and brother William Dr Ferrets has aligned himself with the Mongol leader Khan. Non stop action which also depicts known Mongol leaders, battles well known in history occurring in different parts of the middle east. Another excellent read in this series!!

Fun series based on Mr Davis' extensive historical knowledge... Don't expect anything redeeming, non-sexist, or even remotely intellectual though. This is pure testosterone induced hacking through bad guys (re Conan the barbarian style).

As a side note, I decided to try this series after watching a lot of his very informative and engaging YouTube videos on the ancient peoples of Europe (very much worth watching if you're in to that sort of thing!)

I really liked this one because while Richard is still focused on William, we really don't get much face time with William and I liked that it was mainly dedicated to taking down the Khan. I also liked that Eva decided to go on her own way after being apart of Richard for so long. She is still dedicated to the White Dagger and in a way also dedicated to Richard but she had been under a man's thumb in one way or another for so long that she decided to figure out life on her own in a way.

Another gripping tale with lots of historic references that prompted me to read about the true history of some of the characters in this book. Looking forward to reading book 4. Love the Authors story telling style again in this book

Much longer than the previous two novels combined. It gets a little bit bogged down in places, with some signficant time jumps to, but the narrative hold together.

At the conclusion of Vampire Outlaw we said farewell to our hero, Sir Richard of Ashbury, and his love, Eva, as they rode into the darkness on their quest to pursue and kill their evil nemesis, Sir William de Ferrers. In Vampire Khan Richard and Eva are presented as quite the fighting team. Their story really begins after she dies in the battle at Sherwood and his blood brings her back to life. Eva was the first vampire that Richard had ever created with his own blood. Thus they shared many adventures in addition to their primary mission of hunting down de Ferrers.

To satisfy their existential need for blood they killed men who deserved to die. Criminals, mainly and they fed well while punishing the guilty wherever they went.

They fought for one lord or another in many battles. He earned his keep as a guard for many a merchant. Sometimes Eva disguised herself as a man. When she could, she fought openly as a woman, though often that was difficult. Other times she had to put up with posing as an ordinary wife. They had to run from a number of towns and mercenary camps.

Their first stop during their pursuit of William was France. Then they travelled to Italy, to Cyprus, and to the Holy Land where the last Crusader kingdoms held on to their lands. They travelled to Constantinople and then back to Italy and France. They spent many years living in Spain, fighting in the endless struggles amongst the Spanish kingdoms and against the remaining Moors.

Finally, after nearly 40 years of searching, they got a solid lead on the evil William's location. He had fallen in with the most terrifying warriors and agents of destruction the world has ever known. William had finally encountered an entire people whose love of mayhem and murder rivalled his own.

The Mongols.

Once again Dan Davis has opened up the medieval world to us through his deep research and an informed imagination. When I Googled the itinerary Richard's party followed into the Crimea from Constantinople, I was delighted to discover that Mr. Davis was taking the route directly from the writings of Flemish Franciscan monk, William of Rubruck who wrote the most detailed and valuable of the early Western accounts of the Mongols. William of Rubruck is also one of the historical characters depicted in this novel - though most of the other characters don't have much respect for him. Mr. Davis certainly proves himself a stickler for authenticity,

Of course defeating the vampire William turns out to be no easy task - the Mongols rather like him and prove to be staunch allies to him and formidable opponents against Richard and the company he gradually assembles.

Richard needs a lot of help to merely survive let alone succeed, so he finds himself forming alliances that require him to take part in additional quests. It seems that even back in medieval times it was difficult to avoid mission creep.

The Assassins want him to create 30 vampire Assassins to kill the Mongol leader Hulagu Khan.

The Abbasids want his help defending Baghdad.

The Mongol renegades are happy to kill anyone, but they want help against Hulagu.

And Thomas the Templar wants Richard to just defend Christendom - to hell with everyone else.

Eva will do anything for Richard, but she really just wants to go home and settle down.

Our hero has to become something of a diplomat. But he's always the warrior. The battle scenes are spectacular, gripping, and suspenseful. Whenever Richard draws his sword the action is non-stop and bloody. That small engagement in the Baghdad gatehouse is particularly noteworthy.

Davis manages to bring all of his characters to life. They are well written, each with their own distinct personality and world view. Full of bloody gore but often quite humorous, this epic adventure of revenge over the centuries is a punchy, smart fantasy/historical novel that kept me intrigued.

It's Tremendously Entertaining
