Set in a contemporary time, three civilizations dominate the world. They each share a common link to humanity's ancient progenitors, who it is prophesized shall return at the end of this age. These "Forefathers" are in stasis, hidden away in a mythical land, rumored to be in the Southern Icy wastelands at the south of the planet. With them, the secrets to humanity's origins reside, along with vast technology and weapons of mass destruction.
The Empire of Atlantis is vast, spanning the entire American continent, parts of Europe, all of Africa, and a slice of the middle-east. Geopolitical instability is being encouraged by forces within Atlantis, aiming to subdue the civilization of Illyria and overthrow the Aryans to the east. At the midst of all this, prophecy unfolds as clues to the power of the ancients are revealed.
A soldier falls headlong into the growing conflict, taking him away from much-desired gambling, drinking, and wenching. He is joined by a thief, a mercenary, a holy man, and a mysterious figure with an ancient bloodline. Together they attempt to find the path laid out by the Mighty Thoth, in a quest to find a key to the power of the ancients.
The end of the age is upon us and with it the return of the "Forefathers." If peace exists in the world, then a Golden-age shall begin; if war is prevalent, then ultimate annihilation. Judgment day approaches...Fight the Future.
The first thing to say about this book is that it's written like the form of a play, something that would normally turn me off. However, as you can see from my rating, this was not the case. In fact, if anything, it made this book stand out considering I have never read a Sci-Fi written like this before. The book takes you to a distant time to a place that may or may not be Earth, with the inhabitants (some human, some a similar life form called Anuk) facing a looming deadline set by the forefathers for judgement. There is so much complexity to the world, and many twists and turns throughout the story. Even though I've just finished enjoying the book, I already impatiently await the next in the series to see where the author takes us next in this truly immersive world. I picked this up on Kindle for a few dollars with the intention of giving it a few chapters to capture me, but I never put it down. If you enjoy Sci-Fi, I would encourage you to do the same. This is an independently published book, and if half stars were an option I would give the book 4.5 due to a few errors in tense and spelling. However, these are minimal and, with the assumed lack of editorial support available to the author, I have decided to round up my rating.
Great job on your first book Abdur(Zack)! Loved your history telling and action throughout this book! Can’t wait to see what you have in stored for us in the future?! TV pilot?!
