“I rescued a girl from a cult, shut down the Russian mafia, and signed a petition to stop puppies getting taken from their moms before they are 8 weeks old. And that was today. Tomorrow I’m going to take on a fae prince and defeat a clan of werebears.” So, if you need the impossible done and you have nowhere else to turn, call me. Sholto ‘Hex’ Gunn, warrior mage for hire. But bear in mind, the best don’t come cheap and I don’t do no charity work. Don’t insult me by asking for a discount.”
Someone is selling illegal magic on the streets so the Dark Brethren have called in Hex to put a stop to it. But this time they may be asking too much. Werebears, fae princes and the Russian mafia are all determined to take Hex down.
But they didn’t figure on the fact that Hex don’t lay down for anyone. And now they’re all wishing that instead of taking on New York’s finest warrior mage, they had just stayed at home with a mug of cocoa and a good book. Because Hex is on the warpath … and this time he’s real pissed.

Getting tired of the continuing religious themes, though it is refreshing that the books always put the religions in a negative light, except for the one guy. Still, I'd like to see stuff away from religion for a change.
3.5 rated up because I want to read the last one. The one had a lot going on and then just part of it was ended kind of stupidly. I think it should have focused on one story or another, it felt like there wasn't enough ideas for either story so it was just mashed together.
Hex is arrogant as ever, which makes me laugh. Most people would probably hate him.
How good was that... Really there are no words to describe how good this series is. If you like impending doom and odds totally stacked against your hero's these definitely ate the books for you. They are high octane endorphin inducing rides which you can do nothing but get in broad and go with it. Highly recommend.
Quick easy read. A good popcorn book, it won't light the literary world on first but you won't regret the few hours spent reading it. Sure it is full over the top action and oh my lord the tropes, but that doesn't make it bad. The book knows what it is and excels at it.
One of the characters has my name .... Adedayo look it up it’s the name of the first Nigerian gangster Hex met .... it’s a good read as usual can’t wait for the next book
