Apparently, life doesn’t end when you get married.
When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects.
Two of those preschoolers are Cassie’s youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother’s slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.
Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.
No, life doesn’t end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.
Christine Amsden has been writing science fiction and fantasy for as long as she can remember. She loves to write and it is her dream that others will be inspired by this love and by her stories. Speculative fiction is fun, magical, and imaginative but great speculative fiction is about real people defining themselves through extraordinary situations. Christine writes primarily about people and it is in this way that she strives to make science fiction and fantasy meaningful for everyone.
Christine currently lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, Austin, who has been her biggest fan and the key to her success. They have two beautiful children.
Dear Christine, Write more for you. THIS. IS. FANTASTIC. Dare I say your best? Yes, I think it is.
It's what Christine Amsden wrote at the end of Frozen. She wrote it for herself and published it for the fans. I feel like that is what she needs to continue to do. The flow, content, and love that poured out of the pages of Frozen prove that.
The story was tight, yet incredibly engaging. People like me, who've read her from the beginning, will be absolutely thrilled with the way Cassie is now adulting. Its an honest look at parenthood and a relatively fresh marriage. The way these two are learning to communicate and still function is what many young couples with a baby go through. Throw in the fantasy and paranormal elements, along with the immensely engaging mystery, and you have a perfect way to catch up on the family and all those that surround them.
I feel there is more to come in the Cassie Scott world. This story ain't over, in all honesty, it's just beginning (hint-hint Christine)
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
This is the 7th book in the Cassie Scot series! I highly recommend reading the series in order because you want to know the history and stuff that has happened to characters throughout the journey! I think the series is more for adults due to content and complexities of relationships.
I love this series and world. It is complex, and it definitely takes a jog into the new and unknown in this book. Strange things are happening in town, and as usual Cassie is asked by the Sherriff to help. Cassie has missed some things about her family, but now she is noticing amidst all the chaos of the trouble that has found its way to the lake. Her daughter Ana is adorable and a force to be reckoned with. Cassie is having a lot of trouble with self-doubt, and it is starting to affect all of her relationships. I love that the series isn’t over and that new things are happening! I can’t wait to see what happens next to all of these characters because I’m very intrigued!
I highly recommend to any paranormal fan who loves mystery and intrigue with their magical users and creatures that go with it!
This was a very enjoyable book! Although it is number 7 in a series, it can be read as a standalone. However, I enjoyed this one so much that I think I will go back and start at the beginning!
Cassie is a newlywed, a new mother and an investigator of paranormal mysteries. Her husband, Evan, is a powerful sorcerer. When a strange mist envelopes the nearby lake and two people are found frozen to death, the Sherriff enlists Cassie's help to solve the crime.
This book is full of wonderful characters with various magical powers. The story touches on troubles within relationships, both between spouses and between family members. There is addiction, disability, love, hate....you name it, you will find it here in this book.
Add in several magical creatures, such as a fairy that causes despair and some hellhounds, and you have a great adventure in this book.
The story moves at a fast pace, with plenty of action and dialogue. Great characters, great world building, great story. I am glad that Ms. Amsden decided to write (at least) one more book in this series!
I was given the chance to read this book and chose to review it. And, I'm glad that I did!
The characters in Christine Amsden’s Cassie Scott series wouldn’t let her go when the story was done. They wouldn’t let her readers go either, and Frozen takes up the tale with mothers and children, mothers and grandmothers, and the awesome responsibility of parenthood. Of course, this isn’t just regular parenthood. This is knowing your child will have magical powers, knowing you’ll temporarily inherit those powers, and knowing how to define yourself—never an easy task for Cassie who “set aside most of my old insecurities about not having magic in a magical world” but still feels “less.” How easily readers will relate.
The author's characters, for all their powers, feel aching real and suffer the same fears and insecurities as all the rest of us. They grow older, and grow in responsibility, very convincingly and appropriately. Their world remains scarily dangerous—a reminder, perhaps, that magic won’t fix things any more than anything else can. Power doesn’t always corrupt, but might. And prophetic sight doesn’t always tell the truth about the future.
Frozen is the sort of novel that invites readers to think as well as enjoying the tale. It’s powerfully human and magically powerful. It’s a great addition to the series, but it stands alone as a compelling story of relationships and mystery. There are no magic bullets, no deus ex machina solutions, and no one-size-fits-all methods of solving very human dilemmas. But there’s a great story, wonderful characters, and a coolly intriguing (possibly freezing) plot.
Disclosure: I was given a pre-release ecopy and I offer my honest review.
I fell in love with Cassie Scot in the first book I read of the series. I have read every book as they came out and not been disappointed once. I remember when I finished Stolen Dreams I was so sad because the author had said the series was finished. Then came the books about Cassie’s friends. And then, with hope never dying, I got the news that a new Cassie book was coming! Oh joy! The author did not let me down. Frozen picks up flawlessly and it is as if the series never had a break. What I enjoy so much about these books is the way Christine Amsden blends fantasy with reality, blurring the lines and making the reader wonder if it couldn’t all be true. Cassie is not your perfect heroine. She is flawed as we all are, plagued with insecurities and doubts that come with being hurt by those you love. She does not let those thoughts and feelings hold her back though. Cassie bravely goes on, making her way through life, albeit a life filled with magic, vampires, werewolves and other creatures. Sometimes she makes mistakes that carry costs. Sometimes those mistakes can be fixed, sometimes not. But she keeps going, which is what we should do. This series is, in my opinion, amazing! I am not big on choosing favorite books. It is too hard. There are so many that deserve that honor and many more I haven’t discovered yet. So I have kept my favorites down to two children’s books, my first book I read solo and my beloved Anne of Green Gables. With Frozen I have discovered just how much I love this series. I can honestly say it is my favorite series. I hope you will give it a try and that you will love Cassie and company just as much as I do. In my opinion these books deal with heavy topics at times so I would use frequent discussions if permitting my teen to read it. I would recommend reading this series in the order they were released. You will miss so much of the actions and relationships that shape later books. I would like to thank the author who provided an advanced copy for me to review. No expectation of a review, good or bad, was made. The review, and my gushing, are honestly how I feel about Frozen and the series. It is a series worth investigating. I hope you do.
A young couple found frozen inside a house covered with ice, when the temperature outside is fifty degrees. A large number of suicides have occurred recently. The sighting of a werewolf, or is it something else? Weird things are happening in the area and the sheriff asks Cassie and Ethan for help in solving the mystery. Yes, Cassandra (Cassie) Scot is back in Author Christine Amsden’s latest novel FROZEN, Book Seven in A Paranormal Mystery series. And I’m so happy to see her and her interesting family again.
Now, Cassie and Ethan are married and have an adorable one-year-old daughter named Ana, and they’re one happy family. Or are they? Cassie’s mother has not recovered from her husband’s death and is unable to care for Cassie’s siblings that range in age from seventeen to twins two years old. Cassie feels guilty for not helping them more. And now, with the mystery of the murdered young couple, the sighting of hell hounds and fairies her life is about to get even more complicated.
The author is an expert at creating characters that seem real, with problems like normal people have: family, children, love, and just trying to survive in an often unfriendly world. Add a touch of magic and you have a story where almost anything can happen and does.
FROZEN A PARANORMAL MYSTERY BOOK SEVEN is a delicious addition to the series and the perfect ending. Or is it the end? Will Cassie, Ethan and friends be back? Only the author knows. Recommended for readers who enjoy a great novel.
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
I have read the complete Cassie Scot series by Christine Amsden and was sorry to see it end, so I was thrilled when I learned that she decided to continue writing about Eagle Rock. First, she wrote about Cassie's best friends Madison and Kaitlin. And now Cassie is back!
Christine Amsden’s writing style flows well and is easy to read. There are a lot of characters in Frozen but they're easy to keep track of since I've read about them and because they're all unique.
Cassie is married to Evan and they have a one-year-old who is already powerful. They're very much in love but they have a lot on their plates. People are dying by being frozen to death, Cassie's siblings are in trouble, there are hell hound sightings for the first time in 500 years, and Cassie is having weird dreams. There's a lot going on in Eagle Rock.
Cassie and Evan are both stubborn and there were times I wished I could tell them both, especially Cassie, to grow up! Her pride gets in her way sometimes.
I have grown fond of the characters and the town of Eagle Rock and I'm looking forward to reading more Cassie Scot books. I definitely recommend Frozen but I suggest reading the books in order to get the most out of the books.
First off I would like to say that this is in the Young Adult genre. I am still not quite sure what that means--all I know is that I have loved every single one of the books in this series. Down below, where you see all the titles--Yes--I have read every one of them!! There is just something about how Christine Amsden write that grabs me. I was really heartbroken when she originally announced that the series was ended. I was SO HAPPY when she decided to continue with Cassie Scot's life! I went in and purchased it right away!!
Cassie is now married to her former nemesis--They are both very much in love and have a darling little daughter who has magical abilities of her own. Cassie still doesn't really have any but she channels from her daughter. Well actually she does--and causes quite a disaster.
The magic in the younger generation is getting stronger and stronger-it is getting harder to bind their magical abilities-Cassie's Mom is totally depressed and has not been taking care of the kids she has at home-leaving it to the older ones. Cassie ultimately figures this out and brings them to her home.
There are all kinds of fantasy type things--hell hounds--fairies--and between them they are literally FREEZING people and has the entire town depressed!
Obviously I can't say much more--I really want you to read this series. Each can stand alone but why miss any of the story line? Frozen
I was excited to read the book as it was my first paranormal mystery. Even though it is book seven of Cassie Scott series but could be read as standalone.
I really loved this book. Right from the characters and to the description this book completely kept me attached to its story. I read this book as standalone and at any instance I didn’t see any links which associates with the previous books in the series. This book had what needed for the reader to read this book without any break. A very big applause for that to the author.
Cassie captures all the limelight. Her characterization was so powerful and confident. Author elegantly presented the motherhood emotions. Cassie siblings were sort of like mother to each other.
Mystery was handled perfectly. The story made progress with the investigation which as usual signified the wrong direction but the real mystery definitely surprised me. The mystery was off the record till I reached the last page. The secret and revelation uplifted the story to neXt level. The bond which Cassie and Evan had was lovely and enchanting.
Overall “Frozen” is really beyond the paranormal genre and entertain us in a best way with interesting mystery story and addictive characters.
I loved the Cassie Scot series, so when the author asked me to read and provide an honest review of Frozen, I couldn’t wait! I had trepidations about the read, however, when Cassie started the novel out by talking about the story after the happily ever after. Personally, I read fantasy because I want to escape reality. I don’t want to read about things not working out after the HEA. My fears for Frozen were unfounded. It’s a great read with an interesting story that will keep you turning the pages trying to figure out what Cassie is missing.
Cassie is my hero. She’s strong and stubborn – two qualities I admire greatly. No, she’s not perfect, but who wants to be perfect? Evan, on the other hand, bugged me during the entire novel. His lack of compassion and understanding made me want to jump into the novel and tell him off no matter how much magic he has!
I enjoyed the mystery of the story as well. It certainly seems like the start of a new series, although the author denies that in her notes. Hmmm… No matter, I’ll be over here waiting for the next installment. *taps foot impatiently*
Christine does it again! She puts out another (# 7 in the series) fantastic book full of paranormal action, mystery, and full of little heartfelt moments. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat hanging on every word almost all through the book. A lot of very original idea in this one and I love it!
I have read every book in this series and I really think this is the best one! A lot of twists and a lot of fun action in this one! Great character development! I love the addition of Cassie and Evan's 1 yr. old daughter - Anastasia "Ana" with magic of her own. This little ball of fire sure adds a whole new spin on things! What fun!
It will be interesting to see where Christine will take us next. Personally I would love to see a new series about a grown-up Anastasia! Hmmm. but I am sure that what ever she decides to write- it will be great!
I voluntarily posted this review after receiving a copy of this book from the author - Thank You Christine, fantastic book!!
I hadn't realized how much I missed spending time with characters that I loved. And I absolutely loved getting to spend more time with Cassie. While I did enjoy the two spin-offs featuring her friends Madison and Kaitlin, they just weren't the same. Apparently magic is nothing without Cassie and Evan; they are the best.
The story is great because not only does it take you back into this world but also lets you know what Cassie and her family have been up to since the last book. I couldn't put it down. Fans will love it.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Excellent addition to the series, my favorite story thus far. I love seeing Cassie mature as well as get glimpses of other characters from this series. Review to follow.
People are turning up dead and Sheriff Adams calls Cassie in to help out with the case. A couple is found frozen to death in their home. The temp at the home inside and out is freezing but just a few yards away the temp is a warm fifty degrees. This leads everyone to the conclusion that magic was involved but who and why?
Babies are born with a new kind of magic and a lot stronger. Babies that have had their powers bound are slipping out more often and a lot quicker. Cassie’s little brother and sister, twins Michael and Maya, are among the babies that are getting stronger and stronger.
Cassie has her own life to live now with her husband and baby daughter and doesn’t know exactly what is going on at her family’s home with all her little brother and sisters and her mom who has fallen into a deep depression. With her not being around much to help out with the younger ones seventeen-year-old Juliana is left to be a mother to all the other children, Cassie has no idea what is going on with the twins and their magic.
With bodies turning up everywhere and all of the baby’s magic getting stronger is not the only thing Cassie has to worry about hellhounds are also becoming a major problem attacking people as well. Where did the hellhounds come from and why are they here?
Cassie is also having problems on the home front as her husband, Evan is mad at her for something she did but she believed at the time it was her only option if she wanted to live.
I did not realize how much I loved the world of Cassie Scot until I picked up Frozen. I fell in love with all the characters and Cassie’s world all over again and would very much like to see Cassie’s world continue. I so loved seeing the babies involved and would like to see this more often. I also loved seeing family’s in the story like mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandmothers, aunts and so forth.
I am not sure if I had to pick a favorite Cassie Scot book if I could but if I did I think Frozen just may come out on top. But I don’t know as I have loved them all and would recommend all seven books to all fans of magic and the paranormal or not so ParaNormal.
I typically read mysteries but will also listen to comments from family or friends and check out authors based on their comments and/or those expressed on Amazon. Frozen was a page turner. I could easily reconnect with the characters from previous books in the series. The writing was superb! I could picture each scene and kept waiting to see how the problem(s) would be solved.
I really do enjoy this series because it is the perfect blend of magic, drama, love, and cleanness. We have Cassie who has really been trying to take care of her own little family especially since now she has her own little girl. Though when she gets involved with helping a case where people are frozen and there seem to be hellhounds showing up she knows it is magic though she can't figure out yet what is truly causing it. While on this case we see how Cassie balances being a mom and a wife it isn't easy especially while her family is trying to hold themselves up.
It seems that the magic abilities of kids are steadily going on up and some kids may need their powers bound but can she do it with her family siblings? I really liked the powers her two younger siblings have, it really worked for them. If you haven't started this series I highly suggest you do!
For me each book in the series has grown in maturity and complexity. They have also gotten better. I love that now we get a glimpse of life after marriage and the tragic death of Cassie’s father. We see how Evan is being or not being accepted by Cassie’s family. How they are doing together. But more importantly we see that life hasn’t stopped and there is still mysteries and danger out there for Cassie and Evan to deal with.
Here we have a murder to start off the mystery. And what a murder it was. Frozen to death. Only problem this isn’t a normal magical trait. So off Cassie and Evan are to investigate. Only what we find isn’t what we necessarily would expect. Legends are true even in this magical world where werewolves, seers and vampires do exist. Powers are morphing into something not seen before and wow are they crazy and dangerous. I feel for Cassie’s little sister but her powers are crazy trippy. This murder leads to more serious questions and danger that is coming down the pike. It is a precursor of things to come and what is coming is oh so delicious and trippy.
We are seeing fairies exist and so do hell hounds only why are they here? That is the question and the answers are only somewhat revealed. We get left with a jaw dropping ending at the lake wowza.
Evan has evolved over the books. He is very protective but not as arrogant to me. You can see the love he has for Cassie and his little girl. He respects those around him more and is friendly to others something that we see gradually occurring. You can understand when he gets angry at Cassie at the lake because of what happened. Evan is trying to do what is best for Cassie and those around her but he doesn’t always handle things the right way. He is learning and you can see his love for Cassie shine through. He respects her as well just doesn’t communicate that well.
Cassie is as headstrong as ever. Her love for family and Evan is as strong as ever. Only now she is battling herself and her fear of being her mom. Unfortunately because of this stubbornness we get a rift and see her be more dangerous than she thought she would ever be. I love her seer gifts and the role they play in the book.
The story is nicely past and wonderfully written. We get to feel like we are in the action with Cassie and Evan. The sheriff has warmed up a little to Evan and even respects him. But what makes this story wonderful is the growth of the characters and how we see a expansion of the world Christine Amsden has created. She has begun to build more and give us more to ponder and wonder about. The expansion brings more questions and danger into Cassie and Evan’s family and community. We have such action, danger and adventure throughout the book but we also see loyalty and family come into play. What I love is we really have no idea what will happen next so Ms Amsden has you in her tenterhooks while you eagerly read on to see what is in store and where you will be brought in the story. And the complexity of what is going on and some of the characters involved just really shocks you but also has you wanting more of this amazing addition to the Cassie Scot series where we get a new world of magic and mystery opened up to us and we see magic is evolving and morphing but why is still something we aren’t exposed to and just how dangerous this will be is just being seen in Frozen. Can’t wait for the next book.
Disclosure: I received a review copy from the author in exchange for a honest review.
I was sad when the Cassie Scot series wrapped up but Amsden ended up writing a spin-off of Cassie’s best friends Kaitlyn and Madison and I loved those just as much as Cassie’s book…I’d take anything to be able to able spend more time in the magical world of Eagle Rock and with its inhabitants. So when I found out that Amsden decided to write another Cassie Scot novel, I was ecstatic. I fell in love with Cassie and the gang since book one and didn’t need much convincing to read Frozen, the seventh installment in the Cassie Scot series.
Like previous Cassie books, Frozen has a main mystery at its core. A couple was found frozen to death in a cabin and its up to Cassie, Evan and the sheriff to figure out what happen…except there’s no one in town, that Cassie knows of with cold elemental powers, or powers enough to create a localized deep freeze. I really liked the plot and found it engaging but the reason why I’ve always loved this series and found it standing out amongst the Urban Fantasy genre is the theme of family and friends. And Frozen is no exception. I loved that Frozen showcased motherhood, and how its not always about magic. We’ve all heard the good stuff about motherhood, and I’m sure it’s incredible but Amsden also showed us that it’s not always easy and that beyond coming from a strong magical family; she has normal concerns, worries like any other mothers…about children growing up, going to school, leaving the nest, marriage and children etc.
I’ve read all of the Cassie/spin-off books but I gotta say Frozen is the best one yet. I loved everything about it. I can’t wait to see what Amsden has in store for this series and really hope she plans to continue it. I didn’t realized how much I missed the characters until I started Frozen. I am especially excited to see the children develop their powers, specifically Ana, the twin and Christina. They may be minor characters…three of them can’t even talk but are some of the most interesting secondary/tertiary characters I’ve ever read. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it!
Wow, I love this series and this book is another great story to add to an amazing series or should I say magical series. What makes it so great for me is the characters, they are all slightly damaged or broken and at war with each other but when they get together anything is possible. I liked learning more about what happened to Cassie's family after the death of her father and really hope the author is hard at work writing the next book. Cassie dissipate now being a mother nursing a young child the sheriff still comes to her when he thinks he has a paranormal case that needs investigating. And a couple found frozen to death in there home is definitely strange, especially as the house is still so cold that not even Cassie's husband Evan can stay inside for more than a few minutes. The temperature really drops in town when it turns out the couple were running a nursery from there home and Cassie's two youngest siblings went there. There mother struggling to care for them or anyone, left the care of the twins to another of Cassie's sisters, who knows something she isn't telling Cassie. There have also been a number of suicides that can't be explained but can they be connected to any of the children at the nursery? Before she can work it out Cassie is attacked by a hell hound and a mysterious fog and in the process of saving her life she causes a rift between Evan and herself. Just when she needs him the most she can feel him pulling away from her. Can the pair patch up there relationship and work together to save the many lives that are on the line? I really like the narrator for this series. She does a really good job of bringing the characters to life, I think she must be using her own magic to do so. All in all, in my opinion ever book in this series has turned out to be a must listen to book.
Fans of the Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective urban fantasy series will enjoy this the 7th instalment. This time, Cassie is married…but if you think life ends when you’re married, think again, especially in the small paranormal town of Eagle Rock, where everyone seems to have a magical ancestry and magic keeps popping up in unexpected places. In fact, the magic seems to be getting greater every year, with sorcerers growing stronger and mothers like Cassie channelling more magic while pregnant. The Magical Underground tries to keep things at bay, but sometimes it can get out of control, like now…
Two people are found frozen to death, a pack of hellhounds has appeared out of nowhere, and there appears to be a sudden outset of suicides. Who or what is causing all these happenings? It is up to Cassie to find out—only, this time, while nursing her baby and managing her new marriage and family life.
Being a fan of the series and having read all of the previous books, I was happy to find out that the series didn’t end with Cassie getting married in the last book. It’s not easy solving mysteries and facing dangerous situations in between diapers or arguments with a husband, that’s for sure! I found the story fresh and entertaining, with Cassie’s unpretentious, honest voice shining through the pages. She is both strong and vulnerable, which I love. The writing is engaging, smoothly flowing from chapter to chapter with the “quiet” tone of a cozy mystery. Though the book can be read as a standalone, without the intrusion of too much backstory, I highly recommend reading the books in order for a more satisfying experience.
I was so excited when Christine sent me an email and asked me to review this 7th book in the Cassie Scot mysteries series! I didn't realize until I started reading it just how much I missed this storyline and all the people in it.
I actually think this 7th book, Frozen, is one of the best since the first book she wrote. It has more colorful details and twists that even I had a hard time figuring out who the good guys were versus the bad ones! I have read so many paranormal, mysteries, thrillers and horror stories that most of the time I can figure out who the bad people are pretty quickly, but this one kept me on the edge and I was not disappointed.
The only thing that did make me sad was when the book ended! I could have read for quite a few more hours because I was so drawn into the storyline that I didn't want it to end, so when I realized there would be an 8th book in the ending, I was jumping (in my mind) up and down knowing that Cassie Scot and Christine Amsden are back!!
If you love the supernatural/paranormal type books that have down to earth good guys to cheer for and believe in, then you won't want to miss this whole series, especially this 7th edition. All I can say is that I hope Christine can get the 8th book out as fast as possible because I will definitely be there to read it.
I am a huge fan of this type of urban fantasy adventure stories. Something terrible and scary is happening, and the police department turns to the paranormal investigator for help. But this trouble is so much bigger than Cassie expected. We have unknown beasties, more magic than the town knew existed, and very special (and concerning) abilities. The big bad causing the chaos is related to something surprising, and the overall situation is quite sad. Sometimes people have to make difficult decisions for the good of many. I did like how there were new creatures in this book that we haven't encountered in previous books. Not new to those of us who read fantasy genre often, but they were certainly new and surprising to Cassie, and that gave the book a fresh and exciting feel. I enjoyed the audiobook a lot. I've listened to this narrator before and I like her voices and tone. Frozen (Cassie Scot #7) is a welcome continuation of the story we thought was done, and hopefully, there will be more one day. I enjoy the characters and world, and there is a lot more room in Cassie's character development and that of her siblings. I especially hope to see some stories from the next oldest sister. This is the 7th book in the world but really the 5th book in Cassie's story. The actual 5 and 6 in the series were spin-offs featuring Cassie's friends. I read them all. I even reviewed them all on the blog.
I was soooo excited to get my hands on this book and it didn't disappoint. Honestly, I was afraid I wouldn't connect as well to Cassie now that her life has changed so much but I couldn't have been more wrong. This is book 7 in the series and I reccomend reading all of them, it helps with the backstory. Cassie is a new mother and is newly married, but she is still up for investigating!
There is a lot going on and the story touches on issues within families, both with husband/wife and with parents. I really liked that Cassie still had her own identity and hadn't just been set up as a mom or wife, she is still strong and determined--though she does have her weaknesses. There is a lot in the book and I love the paranormal creatures!
It was a 5/5 for me. Can't wait for the next one :)
Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
From the moment Cassie Scot married Evan Blackwood, she knew her life would never be the same. Despite the fact that things are a tad stable between them and her family, not everyone is pleased with the situation. To make things more cumbersome, she's decided to let Evan keep the magic his father siphoned from her so long ago.
Things soon take an unexpected turn when odd events start taking place around town. Though she's not sure who's wielding magic this time around, she knows she and the others can't let things lie. If they're to set all wrongs to right, they'll need to discover the source of the magic before someone else can get hurt in the process.
I absolutely love Christine's Cassie Scot series. From the moment I first read Cassie Scot, I knew this was an author to keep an eye on. Christine has this unique way of telling a story that you find yourself immersed in it. With every turn of the page, you find yourself wanting to know more about what's going on, as well as the characters themselves.
Frozen picks up more of Cassie's story, giving us more than we've ever gotten before. Throughout her young and tumultuous life, Cassie has had to deal with the fact that she could never truly wield magic. Granted, she's been taught how to make potions of every kind, but it's not the same as being able to invoke a magic of her own. When she became pregnant, she was able to experience what it was like to have magic within her. To her disappointment, however, it's only temporary. Despite this fact, she is more determined than ever to make sense of magic.
I have a feeling there's more to come for Cassie, Evan, and the others. I honestly hope so. This series is one that makes me want to read each book again and again. Definitely looking forward to what's to come!
Finishing up the Cassie Scot series was good and bad. I loved the way the story ended up, especially with the ending left open to more, but I was so sad to see it end. I truly loved this series and hope to see more in the future, if there isn't any more then at least I have closure on the friends and family!
*I requested this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
Audiobook review: Magic, mystery, and a love story abound in this book! Cassie investigates deaths and Evan teams up to assist! Many threads are answered. Great story with wonderful characters! The narrator did a great job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Oh, how I love this series. Although we do not have the perfect ending, it is left open to another book if the author has the inkling to give us more of Cassie and her family/friends. This is has been a great series to read and I will gladly read more in the future if more become available.
Took some twists I couldn't see coming. Impressive. By the way, I've always said I'd never give fives (there's always room for improvement, right?), so if I could I'd give a 4.95 or so.... so close to a five!
