Sprinkles and Skeletons: Book 4

This story is part of an enjoyable cozy mystery series I have been binge reading. I appreciate the recurring cast of characters; the ones you love and even the ones who are not so loveable.

This entertaining story is more than just a run-of-the-mill whodunit, it is also an intriguing who-is-it. A skeleton is found in the back garden during the renovation of Jenny’s new home. What will this mean to Jenny and others in Pelican Cove?

This book is a clean, fun, and easy read. There is no graphic violence, vulgar language, or explicit sex. A good mystery story with a bit of romance.

Another awesome murder/mystery in this series. Jenny is turning into a real detective just by talking to people, as she puts it. Adam, the Sheriff is falling for her even more and is beginning to trust and believe in her skills. Besides she is a great cook and baker, and he also loves that about her.

Jenny is having a housewarming party at Seaview when the landscrapers unearth a skeleton in the garden. Who could it be? The Sheriff tells Jenny everyone will have to leave because of the crime scene and she cannot move in at this time. Jenny decides she will have to find out who was buried on her property and how long the bones have been there. A stranger shows up at the cafe. He tells Jenny he owns the house. A few days later he is found dead and Jenny is a suspect. Jenny finds out some important information and passes it along to Adam. Will this help him find the killer?
The library doesn't have enough funds and will have to let people go. Molly will lose her job in a couple of weeks. Can the town raise the needed funds? There is a lot going on in Pelican Cove. Get a copy and come along on this ride. See if you can figure out what is going on.
I loved it!! Suspense, mystery, romance.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.

Moving can be oh! so problematic.

Another great read in the series. Loved the way the characters are developing and the way their lives are changing.
Finally she can move into her new home. Okay it's only next door but all the renovations have been done and only the garden remains to do. Her house party goes off with a bang when a body is discovered in an overgrown patch. Who is she? Speculation abounds. Needing to find out more (as the house is now off limits) she starts researching missing women in the area. As her search continues a down at luck stranger appears in the cafe and states that the house was sold to her without his permission. Further trouble appears as both Chris and Jason find new love interests, the library looks as if it is in deep financial trouble and a missing teen with possible links to the stranger comes up in her research. When the stranger dies, she is hauled in as a person of interest. Can she clear her name? Is the house really hers? How did the stranger die and why? Can they save the library? Who is the woman in the garden?

Jenny is excited about finally moving into her renovated home, Seacrest! Star, her aunt, has some reservations on it. Everyone tells her it's haunted, which Jenny doesn't believe in. The night of the big party has arrived, everyone is having a wonderful time until......the landscaping crew finds a skeleton in the yard! Who is it? How long has it been there? Maybe what everyone was saying about the house is true! Jenny doesn't give up so easily....no sure! She bought that house, her dream house overlooking the ocean and she's going to get to the bottom of it! Then a stranger comes to town saying he didn't give his permission to sell the house.Who is he? Does Jenny own the house or not? Then there is the library problem. It may have to let Molly go for lack of funds. Barb Norton brings in an expert in fund raisers to help save the library. Can everyone get accomplished what they need? You will have to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this story.

Fun Storyline

This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This book was hard to put down. I wish that there could be recipes listed at the end. Jenny’s chicken salad and special sauces sound delicious. The library subplot held my interest. I love to read. Was glad about the missing girl. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Awesome read

Loved this book/series! Once again I didn't figure out the killer until it was revealed in the last chapter. I am reading late night and during the day non-stop reading, totally obsessed with this series. What will I do when I finish. Best series I have read in a long time.

After renovations are finally finished, Jenny and Star move into the house next door to Star's cottage, called Seaview. It is a dream come true for Jenny in spite of friends and acquaintances referring to it as jinxed and haunted. A housewarming party is suddenly interrupted by the discovery of a set of bones in the garden. Once again Jenny gets no answers from Adam regarding what the police find out, so she feels forced to find answers on her own.

Meanwhile the library is planning on laying off workers because of dismal fiances. This means friend Molly will be out of a job in weeks. When the group of friends that call themselves "The Magnolias"put out posters about fundraising for the library, it doesn't take long for Barb Norton to come and talk to them. (Barb is the one responsible for spiffing up Pelican Cove and leading them to winning the "Prettiest Town in America" contest.) This time Barb comes with a man from a couple towns over who has already fundraised and saved the library in his town. Before long a fundraising Read-a-thon is planned.

Between everything else going on, there is a murder of a visitor to town, Jenny gets suspected of murder, Molly and Chris become a couple, Jason meets a lawyer named Kandy while taking Jenny to a Law dinner, and hints of jealousy are shown by Heather and Jenny. In fact, there are so many twists and turns, that it seems nothing will get figured out. Just when you are sure you know the secret of the skeleton's identity, Jenny orchestrates a major surprise.

A fun series, filled with enjoyable characters who seem to be a little blunter than one would expect at times. But when all is said and done, the community has embraced Jenny, and Seaview is her happy home. This story is without graphic violence or sex, which is refreshing.

More than one skeleton from the past!

So much is happening in Pelican Cove. Jenny finally gets to move into her beachfront property Seaview and during the housewarming, workers discover a skeleton in the garden! It could only happen to Jenny, right? Once again she is caught up in a mystery that she needs to solve when a stranger is found dead. As Jenny is the only one to have talked to him she finds herself dragged to the police station by Adam, much to her disgust. More researching and sleuthing leads to following the history of Seaview and the family that was there. Meanwhile the library is in financial trouble and Molly looks like losing her job until the town rallies to support the cause
The quirky, loveable characters are kept very busy indeed with solving more than one mystery, saving the library and coping with the busy tourist influx at the Boardwalk Café. Lovely to see the developing relationships. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is tjat I felt the family tree of the previous Seaview inhabitants wasn't entirely clear and the ending "solve" of the missing girl could have been expanded a little more. I felt it ended somewhat abruptly given the build up. Otherwise, still a delightful read that kept my interest and so refreshing to read books without profanity and frequent violence.

Book 4 in the Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery series and this sees Jenny moved into her newly renovated home, Seaview. At her housewarming party, a skeleton is found, who is it?

There's also a crisis at the local library and Molly faces losing her job because of lack of funds; so Barb Norton, the local all round organiser starts a fundraising drive, including a read-a-thon. It is hoped that enough money can be raised to keep the library open, and more importantly, keep Molly in a job.

Heather is still online dating and Chris has had enough, so plays her at her own game. His date is someone known to the group, can Heather deal with this? Has she made a mistake and not treated Chris with the respect he deserves?

Jenny and Adam are still meeting in the beach for walks with Tank, his dog, and going on the odd date. Will they be able to move on in their relationship?

I really enjoy these easy to read cozy mysteries, easily read in a couple of hours. Best read in the order of publication as whilst standalone mysteries, the same main group of characters appear in each book but dynamics change.

The more I read about this town, the more I am in love with these townspeople. The library is in trouble. One of the rich patrons of the city has enlisted help to save the library by having a Read-a-thon. Meanwhile a skeleton has been found in the garden of Jenny's new home, Seaview. Of course, Jenny has to get involved to find out to whom the bones belong. When a stranger is found dead, Sheriff Adam brings Jenny in for questioning since she was one who spoke to the stranger. Jenny and friends are not happy with Adam. Could this be the end of Jenny's and Adam's relationship?
Again, my only negative remark is " where are the recipes" ? All of these tasty foods are described and no recipes!

Renovations are finally completed and Jennie can move into her new home. Well she could until a skeleton is found in the garden during her housewarming party. A mysterious stranger tries to scare her with stories about the house and days later he is found dead. Then his relatives show up wanting Jennie to find out who killed him which of course makes Adam angry. In between all this Jennie is busy running the cafe and preparing for the book-a-thin to save the library.

A great addition to this series. The storyline moves along quickly and the characters have distinctive personalities that at times clash.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

I just love this series! Ms. Clover is such a good storyteller! The setting is a small island off the coast of Virginia, called Pelican Cove. The heroine, Jenny, is new to the island, but has fit right in. She’s bought a house next door to her aunt. She is just about to move in when tragedy strikes.
This fourth book in the series has several exciting storylines. Each one intertwined with the others. And what a cliffhanger. I loved it. I read it in three days! Ms. Clover makes you feel like you are there. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes “clean” mysteries, people who care about their friends and neighbors and a great story!

Poor quality

This author seems to have no concept of how to write interpersonal dynamics. The characters frequently blow up for no reason. Statements are made with no context (e.g. hugging someone BACK who hadn't offered a hug). Scene transitions are nonexistent. The mystery is banal and the victim is obvious. And while the Adam/Jenny/Jason triangle was tedious, the very sudden creation of a new focus for one of these characters is awkward and unbelievable. Exchanging triangles would be an annoying move on the author's part (but perhaps no more than Molly deserves!).

I have enjoyed reading this series but I'm really starting to dislike Adam and the way he speaks and treats Jenny. Jason seems like a sweet guy! There is always something going around I think I would want to move. These friends are constantly bickering and sometimes nasty to one another. Whatever happened to girl code even though Heather needs to get her head on straight. The mysteries are good and keep you guessing. This is probably a 3.5 stars for me.

Jenny is working hard at the restaurant, but still has time to try to solve a mystery. This one hits close
To home, after a body is discovered in Jenny’s yard shortly after she moves into the newly renovated Seaview. Meanwhile
The library is suffering a budget deficit and Molly’s job is in danger. Dale comes to town to help with the library funding issue. He suggests a Read-a-thon.

Does Dale have ulterior motives. Will Heather and Jason find other love issues? Will Jenny choose a suitor?

What a surprise! Who plants bodies in their garden? Seaview cottage has finally been renovated and Jenny is ready to move in. Her move-in party is interrupted by the discovery of a body. A cute story that revolved around the mystery of Seaview Cottage and the sad history behind the cottage. Will be looking for more books in this series for more enjoyable reading.

Skeletons

Are there skeletons in your closet? The mystery of the house that Jenny bought, and the mystery of the skeleton buried in her yard perplexes even the local sherrif, Adam, who is also Jenny's beau. What is next in this delightful cozy mystery?
