Beach Bum Billion-Heiress

Rate this book

Can an heiress get down and dirty with a local lifeguard...for longer than one night?

When a hippie girl with a free spirit grows up in an "old money" conservative family, arguments are sure to ensue. Right before her thirtieth birthday, Sage's father, sick of her bohemian lifestyle, gives her an ultimatum - tear down The Surf Shack in Huntington Beach and build a five-star restaurant, or lose her trust fund AND his multi-billion dollar company.

Jax, the owner of The Surf Shack, has vowed to keep his late father's shop running while juggling his full-time job as a beach lifeguard...even if the hot little thing in a business suit tempts him with her conflicting personalities. Is she a business shark in a designer suit? Or a Mother Earth loving hippie who wants to get dirty with him?

Ultimately, they'll have to decide what's worth fighting for: love or legacy.

Beach Bum Billion-Heiress is the fourth book in a series of stand alone comedic contemporary romance novels. If you like strong, sassy heroines, witty bantering, and happily ever afters, then you’ll love this opposites attract, reverse billionaire novel in Marika Ray’s Beach Squad series.

description
This newest installment of the Beach Squad series was a good addition.

I don't feel like I got a good feel for Jax in previous books, so I enjoyed getting to know him in this one. He's got a great sense of family loyalty which made him extremely likable for me.

Sage was this delightful free spirit looking to please her father, and also looking to do what will make her happy. With her and her father being polar opposites on the personality and life goals scale, pleasing him isn't easy for her.

Jax and Sage together might not seem like it would work on paper with their opposing goals, but as I read more about them I enjoyed their chemistry. The beach squad members from previous books were present and just as ready to listen, accept, and lend a helping hand as they have been before. They're the kind of friends anyone would be lucky to have.

If you're looking for a relaxing contemporary romance with a beach setting then give this one a try. It was a quick read with an easy flowing pace.

I have never been to California but I felt as if I was with Sage when she arrived in Orange County where she rented a vintage VW Bug and drove to the beach. I could see the blue sky, feel the breeze and smell the salt air. Sage immediately fell in love with everything about California and she felt at home for the first time in her life. She loves wearing long, flowy skirts, big sunglasses and her hair in braids, not the confining suit she had to wear for her meeting with the owner of The Surf Shack. Sage knew she had the background to be successful in real estate, but this was not the way she wanted to go about it . She knew very little about the owner and she hoped he would be receptive to her ideas.

The Surf Shack is a Huntington Beach institution and Jax is proud to serve the community as his father did for over forty years. He also works full time as a lifeguard which leaves him exhausted and with no time for a social life. He is envious of his friends who have met their soulmates and are making plans for the future. He may be surrounded by friends and is doing a job that he loves, but he still feels alone. Sage surprised him with her visit to The Surf Shack, but as much as he would like to have his life back, he would never sell the business his father had built with his own two hands.

Will Sage convince Jax to sell The Surf Shack or will she go back home defeated and a failure in her father’s eyes?

How does Jax feel about Sage and will he be willing to take a chance on love again?

The reason I love the The Beach Squad series so much is because Marika Ray allows the reader, with her vivid descriptions of sunny California, to transport themselves to a happy and laid-back place, where we can smile and forget about life for awhile. I always feel as if I have been on vacation after finishing one of her books and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, “Handcuffed Hussy.”

I love that Sage and Jax both have real, serious problems. Sage needs to buy and develop a property to appease her father, win her inheritance, and hopefully gain his approval. Jax is working two jobs to keep his father’s business afloat. Unfortunately, the property Sage is supposed to buy and develop is Jax’s, and he’s unwilling to sell. On a personal level, however, they are drawn to each other and quickly realize they like each other.

This could have been a melodramatic piece, but actually the tension resolves pretty fast as they get together and find common ground. In fact, I thought perhaps the situation called for a bit more drama. However, I loved that Sage makes her plan and Jax totally supports her. Sage has to learn to stand up for herself and follow her heart, while Jax needs to learn to trust once more. The Beach Squad comes to the rescue, of course, and while I missed that they weren’t more involved in the plot, I was happy to see them getting up to shenanigans. This is a great 4.5 star beach read, fun and pretty undemanding. I was given an advanced copy in return for my honest review.

Really enjoyed this book. It was more than surf, sand, hang ten surfers, spoiled rich kids and sex. Oh don’t get me wrong there’s sex and it’s hot, but it’s not gratuitous. It’s actually swoon worthy. It showed what can happen when people come together and set aside their preformed opinions and prejudices. Most people think of prejudices with race but prejudices happen everyday in every form. In this case it’s money versus no money, surfer boy versus rich girl, hippie like daughter, versus uptight rich father who thinks he know everything. There’s girlpower that is really nice to see that girls can stick together, all types, and not try to take each other down. The story has inclusion and community. Like I said this book is so much more than good looking, sexy people. This book has beautiful locations, angst, sweetness, romance, tense situations, laughter, and heat. You will feel all the feels if that’s all you’re looking for, but you should do yourself a favor and really read into this book. A sweet story can be more than window dressing it can have depth. This story does. Like I said I really enjoyed this book. You will too.

Beach Bum Millionaire is an exciting and fun addition to the Beach Squad series. This is Sage and Jax ‘s book. Sage and Jax both have real, serious problems. Sage must buy and develop a property to appease her father in order to gain her inheritance and in essence, his approval which she has been seeking for awhile. Jax works 2 jobs to keep his father’s business going. Thing is, the property Sage is told she must buy and develop is Jax’s which is The Shack. Sage and Jax had this instant attraction and intensity feel. They soon realized that their goals were the same and could end up being intertwined together so they set off to figure out what was needed to make their dreams come true. I found it so sweet when the Beach Squad accepted Sage and took her under their loving arms and also made sure to show their support to Jax and Sage. There are twists and turns in this story which kept me hooked until the very end. This was a fantastic addition to the Beach Squad series.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

Loved this book! B3H is an amazing addition to the already great beach squad series! Sage and Jax's story is sweet and fun! I especially adore the strong yet independent women portrayed in Marika Ray's books, and the beach squad where all women are as different as they can be yet their sisterhood stands strong! The strong message of sisterhood in the books is what makes them so wonderful! And as Shasta says in the books "We don't leave anyone behind" is what acts as a great message. Sage and Jax were amazing characters and we get to know and love them more through their story! I'd definitely recommend this series to everyone!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Sage Vanderman is given an ultimatum by her father to buy and develop The Shack, the surf shop built by Jax's father Max Stern...The Shack is an institution on Hutton Beach and a means of community spirit. Sage learns about the community and herself as she becomes a part of the Beach Squad and experiences a relationship with Jax...Her father is a tough guy and her future will be rocky.
I liked the camaraderie shared within the plot, HB has a sense of freedom as well as loyalty that made this story refreshing.

Sage and Jax on the surface are opposites, but you know the saying "opposites attract." This couple had instant attraction and a high hotness factor. When they realize their goals could be intertwined they set off to learn everything they could to support each other. The Beach Squad took Sage under their wings and provided another layer of support to both Jax and Sage and the HB community. This was a great addition to the series.

his is the fourth book in a series. I really liked Sage and Jax together. I liked the way they worked together, and found a way to compromise. And once again, Esa and her crew are welcoming to a new face. This was a really satisfying read. This has been a really enjoyable series to read, and I can't wait to read the next one.

Sage comes from an affluent family, but is a free spirit herself, who doesn't find herself interested in money. However, her father is controlling, so he throws up an ultimatum, either go out to California and purchase this property & build a restaurant, or he will take her trust fund away. She doesn't accept right away, but in the end she does, because she wants to be out from under his thumb, so off to Cali she goes. Of course, she rents a VW Bug to drive to the beach, and for the first time, she feels at home somewhere. The property she's been tasked to look at is The Surf Shack, so she's hoping that the owner will be open to listening to her ideas. Jax is the owner of The Surf Shack, the place that his father built with his own hands, but he's exhausted from running it, and being a lifeguard full time as well. But no matter what, he refuses to sell it to his surprise visitor, no matter how much chemistry he has with her. I really loved this story, as Sage was a fantastic heroine. It sounds like she was only out there to get her trust fund, but you would have to read it to understand that she really wasn't. She was a new Beach Squad member as soon as they talked to her. And getting to really know Jax was great. Together, their chemistry was HOT, so sexy times definitely lit the sheets on fire. And the cast of secondaries were colorful of course, so they added more humor (Sage had already added quite a bit) and depth to the mix. I LOVE Marika Ray's extremely talented writing style, and descriptive genius, as I feel like I'm at Huntington Beach myself every time I read any of the Beach Squad series! CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This series has come to mean so much to me. Every book has something special that just adds that something more to the magic. Marika Ray gives us an extra sweet romance sprinkled with bits of humor and loaded with heartfelt emotion throughout in Beach Bum Billion-Heiress. A adored the way this book was simultaneously light hearted and still pulled at so many emotions. Along with the ongoing theme throughout the series of women supporting women and overall message of strong women Sage and Jax’s story is bursting at the seams with enough swoony sweetness to melt the coldest of hearts.
Sage is a wonderful combination of hippy, smart, sassy, and kind. Determined to pave her own way, but also prove herself to her father she’s a woman on a mission. Unfortunately that mission happens to be the surf shack built by Jax’s father. The thing that stood out to me and honestly made me love both Sage and Jax more (and the brilliant mind of Marika Ray) was this could have been nothing but angst and fighting, honestly that’s what I expected, but Sage is such an amazingly kind hearted woman this story became something even more unique with what comes of this.
Of course Jax himself is an incredible guy too. His heart is just as big as Sage’s and the instant attraction between these two is just the start of the beautiful relationship that grows. With the love and support (and meddling) of the Beach Squad at their backs this book is guaranteed to leave you feeling all kinds of warm and fuzzy.

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and in return I am supposed to give a review. I can only say great things about this book and this author. You continue to keep me spellbound when I am reading your works. While this book is part of a series, you can easily read it as a stand alone, and you will not be lost. Beach Bum Billion-Heiress is about Sage and Jax. Sage is sent to town to buy Jax's property so that she can earn her trust fund from her dad. I do not want to spoil or give away anything from the book, but that part will not spoil it in any way. I was enchanted by this story and character development from page one, and I was not disappointed the whole book. I love that you tell the story in such a way, that I can see everything happening in my mind as I am reading it. I love how the characters have so many dimensions and how the Beach Squad only builds each other up. The Beach squad itself was not as big a part of this book, this one was mainly all about Jax and Sage, and at this point, I want another book about them to see where the go and end up. I truly just want to keep reading about these people and all of the characters that you have introduced so far, there are so many more stories that could be done about them. Thank you for writing about such amazing people and wonderful books. I look forward to the next one!

RIDING WILD!!!
I have to say right up front that I really liked the female lead here. With a full balance of nature and all that. This is one hot, page turning bombshell that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. Marika did a beautiful job bringing the different personalities together and it was truly a joy following as they opened themselves to one another. The chemistry between the two main characters were intense from the start. Sparks were flying and they had an instant connection. Maybe I have a small case of hero worship going on. But dang I love that guy. The characters were smooth and well developed with individual qualities that really brought it to life. The strong storyline played out realistically and fell together smoothly and without a crease. I do have to admit that I was really disappointed. I didn't want it to end. But I consoled myself by reading it over again and again. Yes! Its that good. I love all of Marika's work but this is the best series. You'll fall in love with the characters and root for the main couple. You can feel the things they feel. Its a humbling experience to relate to a read so cleverly designed. Marika never ceases to amaze me. Magnificent job Marika, thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.

This was a sweet and HOT read. It was sweet in the way that Sage and Jax's love developed and just how sweet they were to each other. Sage gets and an ultimatum from her father. She has to go to California and buy a property, demo it an build a restaurant and make it successful all in one year or lose her inheritance and be disowned. Jax is the owner of said property but he does not want to sell. This business was built from the ground up by his father's own two hands and is the legacy he left behind for him. It's a landmark in Huntington Beach. It benefits him to sell since he is working sixteen hour days and two jobs to make ends meet but he can't. It was his father's dream. Sage and Jax clash at first but quickly their attraction wins over and they work together to find a solution for both of their problems.

The characters were wonderful and you kind of fall in love with them yourself. This book is a standalone in the series and you do not need to read the other books to get this story but I felt it may help to hear the history of the Beach Squad which is mentioned in the book. (The Beach Squad is a group of friends). I will be checking the former books out soon. The sex scenes are steamy. 😉

Sage is a strong, intelligent young woman, but her demanding and controlling father puts her trust fund on the line if she does not comply with his ordering her to demolish the Surf Shack in Huntington Beach and building a fancy restaurant in its place. She knows she is savvy enough to do what he asks, she is very capable, but there is a problem. The Surf Shack is owned by Jax, a full-time, hard-working lifeguard, who intends to continue running the little business in honor of his father who had built it and put his heart into it.

Will Sage let her father force her into ruining Jax’s business just so he can force her to comply to his will? Or will she prioritize what is important in her life and make her own decision, even with her financial future resting in the balance?

This book is so well written. It grabs your heart and runs the reader through a gamut of emotions. The story line is strong, with both main characters having their own reasons for needing things to go their way. What will be the driving force in the outcome? Or is there a way for both to find what they need?

The ladies of snark strike again

Marika Ray does not disappoint in her fourth installment of The Beach Squad series. Bringing her signature snark to this reverse Billionaire tale, Ms. Ray continues to keep her readers engaged by providing a lovely and dynamic cast of characters, situations that are unique and realistic, and the HEA people can hope for. This time we meet Sage, a “hippie” trust fund girl, and Jax, a lifeguard and the owner of The Surf Shack a local landmark. As the story unfolds both Sage and Jax find themselves fighting for different things at different times toward the same goal, happiness. Eventually winning the battles that matter: the fight for family, maintaining tradition, pursuing your dreams and gaining love and acceptance. Another stunning addition to the series. If you haven't read the previous books in the series you won't be lost; however, these books do provide some an entertaining look into the Beach Squad and the relationships between the characters. This book is a must read!

Sage wants to find a job on her own without the help of her rich daddy. To prove her initiative, her father assigns her to close a business deal in Southern California. She does that, she gets her trust fund.

“Would I follow my father’s wishes and bury all my hopes and dreams for the dangled carrots of riches? Or would I slam the door in his face and strike out on my own, leaving my family behind?” (5)

Jax was working hard to keep his dad’s beach shack afloat, especially after the woman he loved left him for money.

The plot was set: She needed to buy him out, but he refused to sell.

I thought this was a fun, carefree story. It’s a love story riding on the sun-kissed, breezy, sandy shores of lovely SoCal. It talked a little too much about the beach, although it was fitting since this is all part of the beach series, but it just made it sound almost superficial and cliché. As if Californians are all about the beach. But, still, I thought it was a pretty good read.

Sage and Jax go together like fire and gasoline. There’s an obvious spark right from the beginning, but you’re never sure if it’s going to be safely contained or burn everything to the ground. They’ve both got some daddy issues, but they’re very different issues. I love that Sage isn’t the typical ‘poor little rich girl’ and Jax isn’t just ‘that poor kid from the wrong side of town’. They both need to become business successes, and they might be the answer to each other’s problems. I adore the way Jax stands up and supports Sage, and they way she works just as hard to help make his dreams a reality too. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

This is the fourth book in the Beach Squad Series. Sage and Jax are great characters that you'll fall in love with. Fate and business brings them together. In order to keep her inheritance, Sage is given an ultimatum by her father. She must purchase and develop the old Surf Shack on the beach. Her father wants her to tear it down and build a hotel. Problem is it's a local institution and the owner(Jax's father) does not want to sell. The chemistry is strong between the two but the opposing sides of a potential business transaction make for an interesting read and romance. Throw in all the family dynamics and the twists and you have a fun story to read. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review. Opposites attract with the beach bum and the heiress.

This book had me from the very beginning. Sage and Jax are two very likable and even lovable characters. Their story is a love story in its purest form, just two people falling in love from the first time the see each other and being there for the other through thick and thin. This is a great summer read and can be read as a stand-alone from the other books in the series. However after reading this book and meeting the Beach Squad I can’t wait to read their stories and I recommend those books as well. The Beach Squad is the most loyal group of friends that Jax and even Sage can have. If you are looking for a well written story with great characters set at the beach that will leave you smiling then this is the book for you!

It was a good read!

This was my first Marika Ray book and I was pleasantly surprised at how well written this is. I actually fell in love with Jax and Sage because they seemed so real. They had their problems , Sage, trying to appease her father and gain her inheritance and Jax, working really hard to keep his father's business afloat. While Sage had to buy and develop the property which belong to Jax, there was alot if chemistry between them and I liked how their relationship developed.

The writing was really good and the description was very well done. I could very clearly imagine the California beaches, the sun and sand even though I've never really been there. Overall, I loved the pace and characters of this story. It's definitely a must read.

The beach squad never fail! I have been extremely excited about this book and it did not disappoint.
Jaxs owns a surf shop which was handed down to him from his dad who had built in the 70s.
Sage is a hippy blonde bombshell who if she manages to buy the surf shop and complete a business deal which her father wants, she will gain her trust fund.
Complications occur when they find each other attractive and is intrigued by the other
Person.
Jax has been hurt in a past relationship whereas Sage has always had to battle for her parents attention. As with each of the beach squad Sage finds true friendship.
Both need to evaluate what is important in life. What will they choose?

This is another fantastic addition to this series of books.
Sage and Jax are social opposites, who clash because Sage has to buy Jax's fathers surf shop. Of course there is no way Jax will sell
But there is an undeniable instant attraction between them both and what starts out as a battle of wills, becomes two people falling in love. Putting their differences aside and working together, supporting one another for a solution, to the obstacles they face.
I Loved this story and thoroughly enjoyed and lapped up this Sweet, Romantic mesmerising read, it was a total Delight and I highly recommend it.

This was a really enjoyable read. The storyline was light and easy to read, no full of drama just a good love story which was a little different from the norm and fun to read. I'll hadn't read any others in the series but will be now.

This was the story of a hippie falling for a lifeguard, she is also just happens to be an heiress to a real estate empire. Sage is sent to the little seaside village to purchase a business and turn it I to a 5 star restaurant to win her father's approval and obtain her trust fund. Problem is that business is owned by a sexy lifeguard who doesn't want to sell.

She definitely shows there's more to her than the hippie her father sees.
