Now, returning home to help his sister, he’s shocked by a powerful attraction to military widow Angela Mitchell…and floored by this mother of toddler twins, who accepts his proposal. First I have to say that the book is well written. However I hated the content making it impossible to give a higher mark. First thing first. This is the 21st century and the idea that someone with children will marry a friend they haven’t seen in 4 years within 3 months is ludicrous to me. Leland also taking a discharge to help his sister for something purely financial seems also far fetched. My biggest annoyance though is this attitude towards the military. I understand not wanting to be a widow twice but this suggests that all deployed rangers die or are medically discharged which is untrue. Also it implies that no soldiers can have a family, which is also untrue. The comment about how others were happy about being civilians is stupid. People like and want different things for their lives. She’s talking about if he love her he would give up, then I flip it and say if she loved him she would understand that he loved being a soldier. Then for her to be reluctant to even move for school whilst he’s given up his dream career for her? Unbelievable. On one hand she went on about how her mother in law pushed her deceased husband to become a doctor against his will but then she states that as she hated her time as a model she would discourage her own daughter to become one. What about supporting your children’s choices? Finally her constant comparison between her deceased husband and Lee were irritating to me. I couldn’t feel the love for him. I could see friendship and a father for her kids but that’s all.
Justin Mitchel made his best friend Leland Remington promise to take care of Justin's love Angela Banks if anything happened to him. Justin initially tried to live a life his mother Joyce wanted him to but finally lived his dream of joining the army. Unfortunately, he lost his life while out on patrol in Afghanistan leaving Angela a widow when she was only a few months pregnant with twins.
When Leland's sister begged for help in saving the family home, Leland came home and soon realized he never got over the love of his life Angela. Now a widow of three-year-old twins, he no longer has to respect the marriage of his best friends. All of those feelings came crashing back to him. He never married because no woman ever compared to Angela. Angela was wondering herself, after being around Lee for a while, if she married the wrong friend. They had such an easy tete-a-tete with each other, not like she and Justin.
Leland had to convince her that he always loved her and not just wanted to fulfill a promise to Justin. But would she agree to a marriage when she found out what he was planning to do once his sister's B & B was open? That was the question. Angela had already sacrificed one husband to the country, she was not doing so another time.
This was a sweet easy read story with very little drama. It tells of the alienation of a family and its repercussions on how that affected the children in that family. US Army Ranger Leland Wolfe Remington found acceptance in the army. His sister Viviana, found herself always getting involved with the wrong man looking for a relationship that she did not have with their father. It also told about how the absence of a father in his children's lives took tolls on them in different ways. I just felt that Angela and Lee deciding to get married so soon after reconnecting their friendship was unrealistic.
This is the second Wickham Falls story and now I am a fan!
Small town living provides the residents a village to raise children and nurture each other and it also allows for everyone to know everyone 's business as well. Such was the case with the reputation of the most influential family in the Falls. Now those deserving of that reputation are gone but their descendants are still around and have forged their own friendships and lives. Our hero Leland and our heroine Angela best friends since high school with him being secretly in love with her and her a widow to their other best friend and the mother of his twins. Now Leland gets to fulfill his promise to his deceased best friend to take care of Angela and his twins he died without knowing about. Both our hero and heroine battle past hurts and mistakes but finally accept and admit that they love each other as more than friends then proceed to pursue a future together. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
He came home for a mission…Will he end up with a family? (Army ranger) Lee Remington didn’t think he’d ever go back to Wickham Falls, home of some of his worst memories, losing his mother and losing his father to drugs and prison in addition to his families less than stellar reputation as unscrupulous mine owners. Now, returning home to help his sister who has been swindled and had her identity stolen putting their ancestral home at risk, he’s shocked by a powerful attraction to military widow Angela Mitchell…and floored by this mother of toddler twins Zoe and Malcolm, who accepts his proposal. He’s always loved her, from the first time she joined him at the cafeteria table in high school. But as he preps for his ready-made family, there’s one thing Lee forgot to tell her…he plans to reenlist, could he make her a widow twice over?
Disclaimer: I LOVE Rochelle Alers and Ive read others in the series and I enjoyed them as well.
But Idk what this book was doing! Romances like this are unrealistic as far as timelines are concerned but you know that ahead of time. I dont know how I feel about a widow marrying her late husband best friend but I know its not entirely uncommon.
What made me uneasy was how she handled the situations with her twins. I understand youve know this man since high school but you accepted his engagement BEFORE he formally met your kids! and told them he was their new Dad...that just made me really uneasy and made the book unenjoyable to me. I still love Rochelle Alers though.
Twins for the Soldier is Book 5 of the Wickham Falls Weddings. So far in this series, I've met the Wainwrights, Remingtons and Wolfes. I love these families and their stories. In this book Leland and Angela are the H/h. They have been a little more than friends for a long time. Nothing's happened, just a feeling of what if... though they knew an attraction was there, it was never pursued. There's a little drama about family history that was very interesting. Read this series! I think you'll love it. I did. Rochelle Alers is a favorite of mine!😍
Light and breezy, but this book really needs some oomph. There is no interpersonal conflict between the main characters, and any "issues" they have (family skeletons, career goals, finances, etc.) are resolved in such a cheery way that they make Hallmark movies look angsty. Otherwise, though, this is very well-written and really satisfied my cravings for a small town romance that's not populated with whitebread clones.
Leland and Angela , you always want to be able to recapture what you once held so dear. In this story you get to see a ranger (Leland) return home to help family (Vivian) only to discover his opportunity to reveal his love for a woman (Angela) who he felt was lose to him forever.
Just the right touch of romance within the context of a love story. I very much appreciate the balance between a good storyline, character development, and intrigue sprinkled with romance.
Rochelle never fails to develop a great story , warm characters, believable characters and a wonderful setting. I always enjoy her books!
A cute family story chronicles some trials that families encounter. This poignant tells the stories of love found, love loss, love found again, heartbreak, financial loss, career loss, town rejection, abandonment, aloneness, and family renewal. It’s something in this novel akin to all of our life experiences. Great heartfelt story, but it does contain some premarital relations.
Love the storyline, the characters were so charming! If you are looking for a heartwarming book then you need this book in your life. This book is filled with the ups and downs of life including mother in law problems. Loved it.
Fast moving heart touching story. The only thing that got to me was Angelia took to long to put Miss Joyce sweety in her place. Waiting now for July to get the next one.
This is an amazing series. the tribute to our military is very touching. This story dealing with the dependents side was point. I am so looking forward to the next release in this series.
Not a bad entry in two series: Wickham Falls Weddings and American Heroes. Army Ranger returns to his home town reluctantly and falls in love again with his first love, now the widow of his best friend. Family issues also enter, since everyone in Wickham Falls has some baggage.
As a native West Virginia and POC, this read more like fantasy than anything close to reality in my home state. It was good for a few laughs, but I'm sure that's not what the author intended.
