Anthony Bourdain: A Biography

Rate this book
Anthony Michael Bourdain was an American celebrity chef, author, travel documentarian, and television personality who starred in programs focusing on the exploration of international culture, cuisine, and the human condition. He was considered one of the most influential chefs in the world.

Bourdain was a 1978 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and a veteran of a number of professional kitchens in his long career, which included many years spent as executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in Manhattan. He first became known for his bestselling book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (2000). His first food and world-travel television show, A Cook's Tour, ran for 35 episodes on the Food Network in 2002 and 2003. In 2005, he began hosting the Travel Channel's culinary and cultural adventure programs Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (2005–2012) and The Layover (2011–2013). In 2013, he began a three-season run as a judge on The Taste, and concurrently switched his travelogue programming to CNN to host Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.

Though best known for his culinary achievements and television presentations, along with several books on food and cooking and travel adventures, Bourdain also wrote both fiction and historical nonfiction.

Reads like a Wikipedia bio or People magazine profile.

Very disappointing. It got one star only because a star rating was required. This brief and hastily-prepared article (it's not a book) tells nothing we don't already know about Bourdain. I regret spending $2.99 on this. Researched from news accounts, of which none are credited. There's no depth, no insight, and no editing, which it desperately needs because of grammatical errors and repetition. Don't waste your money.

Great book but too short

I felt like this book was just a glimpse of this short and incredibly adventurous life. It was a good introduction but I wanted more stories, more memories and more Tony. It read more like a book report

short bio just the facts

Reads like an obit, I did learn a few things about the late, great Anthony Bourdain. Well written, gave 2 stars cuz it's so brief.

You're joking?

Great man and deserved so much better than this. Anyone could have written this, no one insight whatsoever.
Very poor.
