What does it take to be creative? To make your art despite objections, self-doubt, and procrastination? This book is for artists of all kinds. Whether you are a professional artist, painting for fun or thinking about art when you retire one day.I have collected a series of ideas, thoughts, tips, and observations over the years and included them in this book. Some practical, heartfelt and others irreverent, but all part of my journey. I do hope you find a few useful nuggets amidst the other bits. This book would also make a lovely gift for artists. Just saying.
I give a book five stars if I enjoyed reading it. I take off a star if it doesn’t get right to the point. I take off another star if it doesn’t deliver on its promises. I take off another star if it makes me work too hard.
This book I gave five stars. Its an honest book that is true to its purpose. It’s readable, enjoyable, and teaches you something. It’s one of those books that is certainly about some particular thing, which is making art, but it is about much more than that.
This was a great read. I give it 4.5 stars. My art is expressed in other ways than painting but I got such calming and reassuring feelings when reading about the process of thinking through this painter's works and the challenging road to becoming an artist who sells art for a living.
This is a great resource for artists that want to go further with their craft. It is not a how to book with step by step instructions but more a guide to the concepts and mindset needed to be more.
