...begins with a conspiracy from the dawn of time.
Only one man can stop the unthinkable from happening.
Veritas Grey is a down-on-his-luck delivery worker in a dystopian future, until an accident turns his world upside down.
Hunted by a powerful cabal, Veritas and a young woman with a murky past must beat impossible odds if humanity is to continue to exist. Can they untangle a centuries-old secret in time to survive? Will Veritas embrace a forgotten past that could destroy him and those he loves? Can a conspiracy that dates to Mesopotamia be thwarted before the world's enslaved?
In order to do so, Veritas must navigate a treacherous maze of secret societies, forbidden knowledge, quantum theory, and ancient technologies, and decipher a mystery at the root of mankind's existence.
If you love Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, and AG Riddle, Quantum Synapse is the new blockbuster techno-thriller from a NY Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author that melds ancient origins with modern mysteries in a riveting tale.
Veritas Grey isn’t whom he thinks he is. When he discovers the truth, he finds himself caught in a fight for the future of humanity. The world is not as it seems. There are secrets dating back to the dawn of time that shakes the very core of man’s existence. Will Ver and his new friend, Selena do what must be done to tip the scales in their favor?
Blake’s latest novel, Quantum Synapse is the tired old tale where one man is the savior of the world. Add that to a retelling of The Matrix and you have a predictable story with no surprises. It has non-stop action and some cute moments. Otherwise, it isn’t all that interesting.
For someone with Blake’s talent, this is a major disappointment. No originality. The only redeeming quality is the fact that the main character is endearing.
This quirky sci-fi story by Russell Blake is a world away from his tense spy-thriller JET books, but none the less satisfying, though in a different genre.
It tells the story of severely injured ex-soldier Veritas Grey and how after a fall from his bicycle, (during his return from PTSD counselling) he's revealed as a 'sleeper' agent and hybrid government 'experiment' to develop super-soldiers.
Following his physical recovery, Ver, as he prefers to be called, is taken home to recuperate by the mysterious Selena, only to discover he's been 'enhanced' and that memories of his friend Ben's mother dying etc were just implanted. No sooner is this apparent, than the police raid his home and frame/arrest him for the supposed murder of his pal Ben and by going on the run with Selena, he's now public enemy no 1!
Hunted by evil authorities, [who pre-programmed and enhanced him for their own ends] Ver is helped further by Selena and double-agent Desmond, who reveals a secret route to safety for the pair, while pretending to help the authorities.
Needless to say all works out ok in the end, but it's a great story and well worthy of addition to your bookshelves!
Throughout the history of mankind, many groups of people have strived to rule. Often behind the scenes. They created man made events to work in their behalf. In this story, the perfect soldier. The ultimate fighting machine. Didn't work. They couldn't control them. The program was scrapped. All of the experimental soldiers eliminated. So they thought. Two survived. Only one they are aware of. They will stop at nothing to find and kill him. But, he's going after them with the help of others. Non stop action, and extremely well written tale of survival. Enjoyed immensely!
i thought it was run of the mill , the reason i dislike it was because i felt like i was being preached evolution , now i know it is a work of fiction but it spend far to much time on the dribble and not enough time on the action part. i like Russell Blake stuff normally but this was not for me 69 % and i wanted to beat my head against a WALL
Not up to the normal action-packed story that I expect from Russell Blake. But it still had plenty of action and kept me interested in seeing where the story went. Uncertain if I'm going to read the next book in this series, if there is one. The story is definitely set up to continue on and I probably will read it as I'd like to see how this ends.
What do you get when you mix speculative science fiction with a healthy dose of philosophy, action and well-developed characters? Quantum Synapse is what. For me the underlying idea in this story made it even more enjoyable, as well as thought provoking. I need to look into reading more of Russell Blakes dystopian stories.
Good character development and a fast-paced plot! Plenty of options for a sequel, which I eagerly look forward to! The author takes on the tech side of a post-apocalyptic US.
Interesting plot with some twist that keep you turning the pages. Moves quickly without to much descriptive filler and characters that you want to know about. Fast and easy to read.
Highly recommend this book, looking for a sequel. Wow, gives you much food for thought, not surprised that as regular citizens we are sheep and treated as such. So many could have the truth shown to them but couldn't accept it.
Besides the massive, they literally felt heavy, twisted science lessons and preachy lessons on society past and future. The abrupt ending sank this story and any good that I'll read further into a series. I wanted to like it, I truly did.
Wow, I got sucked in. I couldn't read fast enough to find out what happens next. This is a scary world we live in and I don't doubt stuff like this goes on and most people know nothing about it.
