”We aren’t easy men, Monet.” “I’m not an easy woman.”
I have read a lot of reverse harem this year and I’m really enjoying them more and more with each book I finish. I just love how the angst and the tempting alpha intensity increases tenfold. Everything is double or triple and so is the enjoyment. What’s different about this one is the fact that its dark, although not much, and has mafia vibes with breathtaking action and thrill. In the past I have always read lighter ones so this time I wanted to try something different, after reading the blurb I knew this was the right pick. This duo’s writing was super filthy and enticing and also very engaging.
Monet McKnight plays the part of witch very well even though she doesn’t believe in the same but sometimes you gotta do things to pay the bills. Her shop was passed down to her by her granny where she sells herbs and other things. Having no friends, she soon forms a bond with a young girl who frequents her shop, never realising the danger she was putting herself in. Turns out it’s too late when she finally does.
Yes, we were the O’Shea Brothers. Irish blood. Vengeful souls. Killer hearts.
The O’Shea brothers are a big deal in the mafia world. Their world was shattered when their parents were killed and how it broke and damaged their younger sister Alana. All that made then fiercely protective of her and when they learn she’s spending way too much time with a modern day witch who might be a wrong influence on her, they take matters into their own hands. They decide to warn her but instead are surprised to find a spitfire woman who doesn’t cower in fear.
Something had to be fundamentally wrong with me. I couldn’t understand how the memory of men pressing me against the wall in such an aggressive manner took my breath away every single time I thought about it. I definitely couldn’t understand how the thought of their looks, their tone of voice, their commands and orders, and even their fucked-up threats on my life only made me desire more of their dominance.
Monet is left both confused and intrigued when she feels attracted to all four brothers even when they are being assholes and threatening her. The brothers are planning to move to Ireland and decide to kidnap her since she’s close to their sister and will help her adjust easily.
My love for them had changed me in so many ways, had filled my heart. But that love had filled my soul the moment I’d decided to become their bride to keep.
Monet was a really strong heroine with a steel backbone. I loved how she never failed to voice her opinion and I think she made the right choice for a woman in her situation. I could tell she really cared for Alana who was truly innocent. Her connection was different with all the brothers but as much as I liked sexual chemistry, I wanted more out of the bed intimacy instead of simply mentioning them. I only got a glimpse of that around the end when the tragedy strike down.
The brothers Cal, Nolan, Rogan and Derrick were alpha to the core. They were downright cruel and demanding especially Derrick. I honestly wanted to hit him whenever he spoke inappropriately to her. The only ones who acted civil to her and showed that they cared were Rogan and Nolan. What I loved the most was just how sweet and protective they were of their sister.
”Tell me, Monet, what type of girl wants to come as her ass is being fucked?” “A dirty girl!” she practically shouted. “I’m a dirty girl. Please, God, please let me come.” “You are a dirty girl,” I said, remembering the way she’d been in a lip-lock with Rogan earlier in the day. “Only a very dirty girl takes a man in her ass after kissing his brother only hours before. Admit it, Monet, admit you want all of us. You want all four of us to fuck you, to make you come.” She moaned, her head tossing back and forth until I stilled it with a firm tug of her hair. “Admit it.” “Yes!” she screamed. “I want you all!”
The intimate scenes were scorching hot with heavy dose of dirty talk. My favourites were the scenes with Derrick and Nolan. I was like hot DAMN..🔥 Her sexual chemistry was on spot with each of the guys. Although there could have been more creativity, still it was no less sexy and dirty.
Overall, It was an insanely hot and thrilling read. I liked the setting the duo created with a little historical vibe to it. The last 30 percent left me really emotional and a little sad. I did not see that twist coming. I truly fell for the guys when they gave her a chance to leave but it kind of contradicted their personality as was shown since the beginning which is why I didn’t give it a full five star. The epilogue was absolutely stunning and beautiful.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️STARS ARC BOOK REVIEW Release Date-25/6/18
I found "Bride To keep" to be such an enjoyable read. I'm not usually a great fan of reverse harem often finding it hard to experience a major emotional connection between the players involved. Not so here; this was such an intriguing addictive ride that I thought managed to portray the emotive element just so well. The concept used throughout was so simple but brilliant allowing me to forge ahead through hidden avenues with each and every character involved. You might ask why I am actually reading reverse harem when it's so obviously not my bag. Well, this is one that just kinda slipped through the net; I had a bit of a brain-blip moment not realising what this was till after I had signed up for it. Note to self; actually reading the blurb would be a good idea in hindsight. In this case, I was incredibly thankful for my moment of inattention as this turned out to be such an unexpected gem; totally surprised me with how much I actually ended up enjoyed this. So this is Dark reverse harem involving four notorious criminal brothers, A sweet as pie sister and a sassy opinionated female protagonist. This was a hot as hell forage into an unconventional setup that is so far from the usual but still much to my wonder actually worked really well. Though "Bride To Keep" was in itself relatively simplistic in nature it did surprisingly make compulsive reading while also managing to pack a massive emotional punch and When the fallout from past previous events eventually impacted this self-made family I cried like a baby; This was so sad and poignant was really not expecting that from this at all. So this is told mainly from Monet's POV (BTW Loving that name totally) with occasional input from the Brother's side of things and though relatively limited in secondary characters I didn't actually find this affected things at all. This was more a point in its favour as it cut out the white noise involved allowing me to focus and hone in on the main event much easier than I would with a more cluttered landscape. I liked how each brother got to spend their individual time with Monet and they were all such very different flavours of the same recipe. It was almost a love/Lust story within a story within a story if you get my drift. And what started out as so dark, swiftly morphed for Monet into a much lighter vein as the story evolved. I also really adored the sentimentality of the epilogue it was the icing on the cake for me. So on reflection, this was a great read that I'm happy to recommend to you. It turned out to be so much more than I was originally expecting; with unforeseen depths that make this definitely stand out in its particular genre. Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC copy of "Bride To Keep" of which I have reviewed voluntary. Despite there being lots of things 'wrong' with this (including that it is barely grey never mind dark), overall I still enjoyed it
I signed up to blog review this AGES ago, well before the release date was postponed and I'm fairly certain it had a completely different blurb back then too. A blurb that didn't suggest this was a reverse harem, as I tend to avoid them. I also want to say that the current blurb is VERY misleading. The story I read really doesn't match, I'm surprised others haven't commented on this fact. I love dark reads and 'captive' stories, which is what initially attracted me to the book. I've enjoyed work by one of the authors, the other is a bit hit and miss in my book, and that perfectly sums up the book. Some parts were fantastic, other parts were not so good.
So what does happen in this book? Well it opens with the four O'Shea brothers exacting vengeance on Dallas Callaghan by burning down his properties (I'll leave you to discover why). Sick of the conflict caused by being a mob family, they decide to depart for Ireland and start afresh on an old family farm. However they have a sister, Alana, who suffers from emotional/mental health issues. To help her adjust to a new country and their new way of life they kidnap Monet, a local shop owner who Alana has grown fond of. Given the choice of being violated and killed, or pretending she was there voluntarily, Monet obviously chooses life. What exactly that will entail on this farm in the middle of nowhere remains to be seen.
I loved Monet, she was a make-the-best-of-it girl with a good heart. The vast majority of the book is written from her pov, so I felt a very strong connection to her. Through her interactions with Alana I felt we also got quite a good picture of her as a character.
However this is where one of the 'wrongs' comes into play. Whilst I believed in the relationship/friendship between Monet and Alana, I felt almost zero connection between her and the four brothers, Cal, Derrick, Nathan(?) and Rogan(?) I only finished this last night and already I'm struggling on what their names were. Hmmm. Other than a couple of chapters at the beginning of the book, we don't really 'hear' much from the men.
Cal was the oldest, Derrick was the dom-type one, Nathan(?) was mysterious and Rogan(?) was the sweet one. Sorry but that isn't character development at all. When I feel I've read more about one of the side characters than one of the main characters it isn't good. I couldn't believe in their relationship with Monet because I just didn't see one. There wasn't really any romance either, in fact the longer scenes between Monet and any of the men were the sex scenes.
On a positive there wasn't an excess of those, just the one with each guy. However, again there wasn't a lot to differentiate one guy from another. She could have been having sex with the same guy if not for the name.
Another positive was that this actually had a genuine plot. Sadly some of it is very far fetched - as in 'I've been forcibly taken to another country and told I'll be raped and killed if I don't cooperate, but hey these guys are so hot I want to immediately have sex with them'. Yes I know, work of fiction, blah, blah, blah but pur-lease, a tiny touch to reality wouldn't go amiss.
My biggest gripe however is that THIS IS NOT dark!!!!!!!! KIDNAP DOES NOT EQUAL DARK. Dubious or Non-consent is dark, humiliation is dark, physical and sexual abuse is dark. Kidnap and then telling the heroine any sexual activity is up to her isn't dark. It's not even slightly dark. It's just about the lightest shade of grey you can get. I am SICK TO THE BACK TEETH of false claims about darkness in a book. It annoys the ever loving hell out of me.
Finally, and because all feedback should start and end on a positive, we have "the final scene shocker". The twist at the end totally got me, it even made me cry so kudos there. The emotion in that scene with Monet and Alana just blew me away, it was some of the best writing in the book. In fact the technical writing was really good. I found the book easy to read, the prose flows smoothly and the writing was engaging. I could follow the plot and felt that the story had a beginning a middle and an end.
To summarise it's an entertaining read with an overall decent story. With all the things I found 'wrong' I should have hated this book and yet for some reason I enjoyed it. So much so that I'm very tempted to give it more stars. It's not one of the best books I've ever read but it is great fun, nice and steamy and with a good depth of feeling too.
Ohhh this was good. I needed a genre change and this was ideal. It’s a naughty read and oh so good. I read three quarters of this last night. Then this morning I grabbed a coffee and my kindle and sat outside in the sun and finished it. Not sure if it was the sun or the book that got me all hot lol
Monet is an awesome character. I absolutely loved her. She’s leading a lonely life that is until she befriends a lovely girl called Alana. Their big obstacle is Alanas protective brothers. They will do anything to make their sister happy. You will have to one click to see how far they will go to make her happy.
This is an awesome read. It’s a dirty taboo reverse harem read. Personally I didn’t think it was dark but that might just be that I’ve read too many dark stories lately lol I’m really looking forward to reading more from this duet.
This book had three of my favorite things which drew me to read it. A) an amazing cover, B) a reverse harem novel and C) it was listed as dark romance fiction. First off, this has to be one of the most stunning covers I have seen in a while, I could stare at it all day. This book starts off in the US with the O'Shea Brothers burning down one of their arch-enemies Dallas Callaghan's house. Dallas is responsible for killing their parents. When then read as the O'Shea brothers talk about their sister Alana and her fascination with a local new-age shop run by Monet. The brothers needing to get away to Ireland quick and also they would do absolutely anything for their sisters and themselves, decide to kidnap Monet and take her with them. It's not an easy feat to do so as they have to make it look like she is gone for good and off the grid. When they finally arrive in Ireland, Monet discovers that just like she wants all four of the O'Shea Brothers, they want her just as much. Hence the Reverse Harem part comes into play. Add in the BDSM, multiple sex partners and the fact they kidnapped her - this is the dark romance. I have to say this book had a sad part where I was like noooooo but I did like how the ending redeemed itself and in a way brought the whole idea of the circle of life into play. So if you are in the mood for reverse harems, hot sex, and hunky Irishmen then this is the Dark Romance read for you.
Well, I'm as finished as I'm going to get. Not impressed with this book at all. The set up is even more contrived and unbelievable than usual for this sort of thing (no wonder most of the reverse harem stories have fantasy or sci-fi settings). Woman is kidnapped when 4 Irish mob brothers try to leave the mob and take their sister back to the family homestead in Ireland and sister needs a friend. There, she becomes chief cook and bottle washer for them all, cooking on a woodstove, doing laundry with an old ringer washing machine, collecting eggs, milking cows, and tending a garden. And in the meantime, she has sex with all 4 brothers while trying to keep that part of things hidden from the "oh so innocent" sister. It just didn't work for me. I skipped toward the end and even that didn't help.
fire was the ultimate cleanser. Tremendous heat consumed all in its path— nature’s way of wiping the slate clean. Fire is the foreplay and fire is the climax of this story, a lot of scorching-burning sex in between. O'Shea brothers are being hunted and destroyed. Yes, we were the O’Shea Brothers. Irish blood. Vengeful souls. Killer hearts. Dallas Callaghan picked the wrong family to cross. So they are on the run with Alana, their baby sister and her best friend of sorts, Monet the Witch, Monet Guinevere McKnight. They all land up in Ireland, living off the land. Men toiling and women housekeeping. The primitive living in the middle of nowhere, the hard work builds up a lot of energy which they find releasing in oomph-worthy screaming, steaming sex
Monet is an informal bride to be shared by all and an unwilling hostage becomes a willing participant as her inner sexual diva is unleashed. The brothers - Cal, Rogan, Derrick, Nolan are all men of the soil, yet mafia in their blood. They treat Monet callously as a fuck-toy which soon balances to an equal partner The story was good, scenes were scorching and steaming. I felt it lacked story depth, Is all Alta I trust to give me some really imaginative stories. Bride to Keep by Alta Hensley & Maggie Ryan this is the story of Monet, Cal, Derrick, Rogan, and Nolan. Monet is alone other than her shop that her grandmother started. Monet does have one customer Alana who she feels a closeness too. When Alana brothers (Cal, Derrick, Rogan, and Nolan) come into her shop threatening her is she doesn't leave Alan alone that they will make her sorry. The brother's feel Monet is running a scam at the shop and they don't want their sister involved with her. But neither the brothers nor Monet was as shocked as the desire that filled them. When Alana came in again Monet still befriended her which made the brothers take Monet with them when they left the area. Since she wanted to be Alana's friend she could be that in their isolated family home that they want to fix up and keep Alana safe. This was a somewhat dark romance with the reverse harem theme.
I was going to leave this author at least 4 stars but when I came upon this one scene in the book I just couldn't do it. I had just finished reading Captive Vow by Alta Hensley and I had no clue this book was by her as well when I read this one part I had to check because I thought someone had ripped her off. Well turns out she wasn't ripped off she just likes to reuse her own material. Which in my opinion is even worse I can't stand authors that rinse and repeat their material. It really just comes off as lazy and easy way to make a sell. I know some of you may think I'm being harsh but if you're okay with spending your money on crap thats been copied, pasted, and names changed that's your choice but me I'm more then happy to spend money on books where I know the author actually puts their all into it. So here is what I'm talking about in the book Captive Vow Pope is taking Demi out in the woods so they can have a picnic and to a natural spring so she can relax he knows she's been working hard and is very tense dealing with his psychotic mother when they get there she asks him about the temperature of the water and if it's safe his response is this -“Some are, but this one is the perfect temperature. Go ahead and get in. I’ll set up our picnic.” With a twinkle in his eye, Pope smiled. “Don’t worry, I won’t peek.” “Wait. You aren’t going to join me?” “Well, since we don’t have suits, I thought I would give you your privacy and let you have it to yourself.” --- now onto this book same lead up they're on their way out into the woods for a picnic and the hot spring, she asks him about the hot springs the temperature and this is what is said---“Go ahead and get in. I’ll go set up our picnic.” With a twinkle in his eye, he smiled. “Don’t worry, I won’t peek.” I looked from the water to him, my heart beating a bit faster. “Wait. You aren’t going to join me?” “Well, since we don’t have suits, I thought I would give you your privacy and let you have it to yourself.” --- so as you can see she copied everything that was said between the characters the only thing she changed was their response about the temp of the hot spring. I kept reading to see if I would come across anything else I remembered from Captive Vow and what do u know the whole ending of the book was pretty much the exact same as Captive Vow now I do not know which book was released first this one or Captive Vow but either way it was clearly reused material. Examples in Captive Vow Pope's mother commits suicide by setting his wood shop on fire and passes out from the smoke which she ends up dying in the fire afterwards pope is taking care of Demi by giving her a bath and he helps her release some tension if you know what I mean after words he takes her out of the tub lays down on a towel on the floor where he tells her "ride me" and well you can fill in the blanks what goes on from there then he swaps up and finishes up by going through the back door. Well in this book Monet is taking a bath and Nolan comes in does the same exact thing helps her release tension, puts towel on floor, says "ride me", then finishes off in the back door. Next off Monet is outside when she discovers a fire everything that happened during that point was exactly how Demi reacted when she realized the wood shop was on fire. In the end of the scene Pope's mother is dead and in this book their baby sister Alana is dead so folks what I'm getting at here is this is beyond just taking up one good scene she pretty much rewrote the entire book I mean even in Captive Vow his mother had mental issues well it was said that Alana had some sort of mental problems as well that she changed after her parents died so yeah way too many things match up I wouldn't recommend anyone spending their money on either book
ALANA LIKES YOU—WE GIVE OUR SISTER WHATEVER SHE WANTS AND NEEDS
Oh my, when you take two talented authors like Alta Hensley and Maggie Ryan and team them up together as co-authors, buckle up and hold on for the ride. Together this dynamic duo penned an amazing, thrilling, emotional reverse harem story that will start in America and then cross the big pond to Ireland. The story is when Monet McKnight meets the O’Shea brothers. The story will go from strangers to enemies, to captors, and eventually to lovers.
“Yes, we were the O’Shea Brothers—Irish blood—vengeful souls—killer hearts.”
The plot will have the four O’Shea brothers, Cal, Derrick, Rogan, and Nolan paying retribution to their sworn enemy, Dallas Callaghan, a man who killed their parents and injured their baby sister, Alana. They are out to destroy everything belonging to Dallas, and then they are taking their sister and moving back to Ireland, to the O’Shea land passed down from their great-grandparents. There is only one fly in the ointment, Alana’s friendship with Monet McKnight, owner of Gigi’s Garden. No matter how they try and discourage Monet from having contact with Alana, it is Alana who keeps going to Gigi’s Garden for visits.
When the four O’Shea brothers brainstorm, they main goal is Alana’s happiness; they will do whatever they need to in order to keep her safe, and better yet, to keep her happy. So, it seems her friendship with Monet is her happiness, and therefore, Monet’s future is about to change where she wants it to or not.
“The last thought I had was that I was being kidnapped, and everything about my life was about to change forever.”
“Alana likes you. We give our sister whatever she wants and needs. My brothers and I were born into one of the most powerful Irish crime families in the world. We aren’t good. We aren’t decent. And we don’t follow the rules of your ‘proper’ society. So yes, we can, and will, do whatever we want.”
“Alana was a broken bird, they said. I was a ghost in purgatory, they said. Rebirth. No matter how fresh the air, how pretty my room, how nice my clothing, this man was just one of the four jailors who held the keys to my prison. This whole concept intrigued but overwhelmed me, and I was really was determined to give it a shot to make things work. Life would be pretty miserable for me if I resisted. I wasn’t a fool. Stubborn at times, sure, but I knew it wouldn’t take much for my life to go from Little House on the Prairie to American Horror Story.”
The story is a reverse harem, involving one woman, Monet, and four O’Shea men, Cal, Derrick, Rogan, and Hogan. It is not a ménage story. It involves dubious consent, explicit sex scenes, kidnapping, some punishments, and has some dark, intense scenes. Yes, she has a choice, to remain and live, but the sex is not forced. Her life has changed, and she will see the good, the bad, and the ugly of people.
“Alana was safe, would be taken care of because her brothers loved her. They were protecting her. They were making sure she had everything she needed—even if it meant kidnapping a friend for her. As sick and twisted as it was—they’d changed the direction of their lives so she could be happy and safe.”
“We may be demanding, bossy, stubborn, and overprotective, but we counter it by making sure our woman is forever cared for.”
“I wasn’t a witch—I had no powers other than the power of love. And that was the most powerful thing of all.”
I enjoyed the story, and even in the midst of horror for Monet, she finds a peace living in Ireland with the O’Shea family. Having grown up with only grandparents to love her, and being by herself for so long, the family unit, even in its warped ways, gave her comfort. Her friendship with Alana will teach her to grab on and enjoy the ride, and don’t worry about what others say or think if it works for you, and everyone involved is happy and content, they accept it as the right path in your life.
“Don’t ever let anyone stop you for loving, Monet. Life is too short not to love when we are given the chance. It doesn’t matter if it is one man or four. Your heart is big enough for all of them. They are waiting. All you have to do is let them in.” –Alana
“Was I trying to punish myself for—enjoying the carnality of the acts I’d participated in with all four men? I didn’t know, and at this moment, I didn’t care. Were the words meant to humiliate or to free me? To allow me to become that girl—the one who played in the gutter and loved every moment? I didn’t know, and it didn’t matter. My entire world focused on nothing more than this moment—my desperate need and the only man who grant my request. And I knew that it didn’t matter if he or his brothers loved me—I was already theirs.”

This is the raw and, at times, shocking, story of Monet a seller of magical remedies, hopes and dreams and four bad boy, Irish mobster brothers......
Having grown up in the world of organised crime the four O’Shea brothers are hell bent on revenge and in trying to protect their little sister, Alana, end up entangled with the defiant and mouthy Monet ...I do enjoy reading about heroines with some feistiness, and Monet is up there with the best of them..... I feel the authors created a wonderful character in Alana who is the most relatable character: she is a tenderhearted innocent with a tragic backstory... as for the O’Shea’s, in truth there is not much to differentiate between them in terms of personality...met one you’ve met them all...I would have preferred more diversity but since I am a sucker for dirty talking uber protective alpha types I cannot complain too intensely....
Where I do have a complaint is regarding Monet’s acceptance of her situation; she is such a strong character that I felt she acquiesced a little too easily ... this was a full length book and so there was time for more of a slow-burn regarding her relationship with the brothers...
Heed the warning, as always, there is a sinister side to this reverse harem....the men are morally corrupt on so many levels and their actions at best overbearing and coercive, but at worst brutal, abusive and murderous; I was particularly horrified by their actions during and immediately following Monet’s capture. ....thankfully, to counterbalance the darkness, there are some sweet and funny moments and of course some seriously wanton and wicked licentiousness ......
All in all this was a dark and twisty romance with a completely unrealistic premise, and yet there was something about it that kept me turning the pages desperate to see how the story of Monet, Alana and the four brothers would turn out in the end ....Summer’s Eve Reads received an advanced copy from the author...
I didn’t mind the kidnapping to much. The way it was done I didn’t like. But I figured maybe they’ll be nicer, alphas but still nicer. Nope they put her naked and tied up in a basement and give her an ultimatum. She says and behaves and doesn’t let the sister know she’s a prisoner or they would all rape her till she couldn’t take anymore then kill her. But they tell her if she chooses to stay and keep the abduction a secret, she won’t be a prisoner, they will give her what she needs and wants. Not so bad right? So she gives in and goes along with it.
Later after being nothing but horrible to her, tell her she can’t leave the land. Not a prisoner? Sure...
So she wants to go for a jog on the land and decided to just sneak out instead of telling them. Well one of the brothers catches her, takes her to a shed, literally whips her with a strap for being disobedient and not behaving like a female should. Then he pretty much rapes her in the butt. She asks him to stop and he doesn’t. He smacks her and tells her she wants it. Then she admits she liked it.
I hate anal. So I skipped big chunks of that scene. I kept reading hoping they’d turn around and treat her a bit better. Nope. So I quit reading when the next scene is another brother sticking his finger in her butt. 🤦🏼♀️🤢
I enjoy books with BDSM and hot Alpha guys. I don’t mind some spanking or tying up. But the way they were in this book was not hot. It was evil and rape. Not the type of dark I want to read.
Alta Hensley and Zoe Blake’s reverse harem romances were the first I have ever read – and with BRIDE TO KEEP, they surprised me. Because what I always complained about in previous stories was too little backstory, the characters too elusive to really connect with them – with this one, we get it all: a beautiful, slightly tragic, slightly dark albeit unrealistic storyline with multi-layered characters to easily fall for. It has all the emotions paired with all the overwhelming chemistry I’ve come to expect.
But there’s still one thing I was not that happy about: I wished for more diversity between the four brothers – they blurred together at some point, all dirty-talking, protective and brooding alpha males with no outstanding own facets to their respective character.
Monet, an independent woman with her own shop selling allegedly magical and healing products and advice, full of sass and fire with her take-no-prisoners attitude. …which is why I hoped she would have struggled and rebelled longer after being kidnapped and shipped to Ireland. I missed her fierceness and rebellion after the incident in the shed – no matter how drawn she was to the sexuality and maleness oozing from the four O’Shea men…
The beautiful soul of this story has to be Alana, the brothers’ little sister who is somewhat living in her own little world and finds a friend in Monet. She is the connection to keep her brothers grounded, to have them want to be the best men they can be for her – however corrupt and questionable – murderous and brutal – their actions to get to that point might ever be. Tender-hearted and as innocent as can be, she is a pure soul with a heartbreaking backstory…
Raw, intense and partly immoral and sinister – I don’t think I need to mention the combustible hotness happening here! – as reverse harem romances oftentimes seem to be, but that part and the unconventionality is exactly that which will always draw me to a story like this one.
Bride to Keep By: Alta Hensley and Maggie Ryan 4 Brothers Stars
When the O’Shea Brothers lost their parents, they vowed to seek revenge upon the ones responsible for their deaths. Along with seeking revenge, they will do anything and everything to protect their sister who was saved that day.
Monet is running her shop that was left to her by her grandmother. A store where you can come and find herbs to soothe your ailments and a place to have good conversation with the ‘witch’.
When the 4 men walk into her shop, Monet’s life would change forever from that day on.
Abducted and taken to Ireland to start a new life, Monet has become a glorified servant. A servant to the 4 brothers that she can’t stop thinking about.
I don’t know which brother was the hottest!!! Each one had their ‘specialty’ in taking care of Monet. Each one taking Monet to new experiences, ones that she will never forget.
When the guards are down, can the brothers protect everyone? Or will the family truly suffer the biggest loss of all? Once the happy circle has been broken, will it be enough to push Monet away and allow her to start over with out the brothers?
5 O'Shea Stars Review by Amy W. Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
O. M. F-ing G!!!! Alta Hensley and Maggie Ryan have written an intense and emotional dark reverse harem romance. Bride to Keep was not what I was expecting. I was prepared for the overwhelming sexual chemistry, but the emotionally and powerfully told story was more than I was ready for.
"So you fuckers kidnapped me to be a housekeeper? A cook? You kidnapped your sister a friend? Are you fucking kidding me?"
Boom! That line right there sums up the jest of blurb and shows Monet's personality perfectly. I love her confrontational take no crap attitude. She doesn't give the O'Shea brothers what they want just because of who they are. Nope, she makes them work for it. But she has to work too. This is a story that when you get to the heart of it, is all about family and love. I loved Monet and the O'Shea brothers, but Alana was my favorite. She was the glue that held them together before they realized what they felt for each other. She made them a family.
The more animalistic they behaved, the more I seemed drawn to them. To each one of them. Each one of them I craved. Not one. Four.
I went into this expecting a super hot reverse harem romance, lots of dirty and consuming sex. I got a whole lot more than I bargained for. There were steamy scenes, (can we say woodshed or hot spring?) but there was also laughter and tears. Grab the Kleenex, your emotions are going to be put through the ringer.
Dirty taboo is right! These four brothers are dangerous with a capital D. Monet never stood a chance when they whisk her away and basically take her and her life over. At first, I was uneasy with where things were going until the brothers began to open up and you could see past their very dangerous exteriors to the loving men who adored their sister. And, soon, made room for her as well.
There is mafia, there is reverse harem. There is family bonding through tragedy and joy. Their story was hot and heartbreaking in turn, taking unexpected twists that I really wasn’t ready for. It was a scorcher, oh my yes, and the character’s slowly revealed themselves, allowing glimpses into what and who they really were underneath. At times those glimpses didn’t feel enough. I wanted to learn more about the brothers’ feelings and how and why they grew the way they did. I wanted to feel why Monet embraced them so fully as her own. It was still easy to see, however, this new family was clearly meant to be and all the pain and struggle would be worth it in the end…
I’ve read a few stories now by this author duo and they keep me coming back for more!
I enjoyed Bride to Keep but at the same time, it was a little hard to read. It is not a dark read in the "normal" sense but it is a little rapey at times. Even though Monet seems to be at the point of wanting the 4 brothers Cal, Derrick, Rogan, and Nolan she doesn't seem to have much of a choice since they have kidnapped her from her old life. So yes I enjoyed the story but I almost felt bad enjoying it. You know what I mean?
The brothers are good guys they are just misguided. They love family above all and Monet just happens to be a means to an end. Until she isn't and she becomes more.
Reverse harem that felt like an erotic historical romance set in modern times. I liked this but felt it was a bit rushed. The author told us things that were happening instead of being able to experience it for ourselves. One minute they’re kidnapping Monet, then having sex with her... then weeks and and week pass by and then all of a sudden they love her? Like I said I liked this, I just wish I could have experienced them all falling in love on a different level.
This book will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. Alana and Monet become friends and there is nothing that Alana's 4 brothers will not do for her to make her happy. There was a twist in this story that came out of left field. Will Monet be able to get her HEA. Will Alana truly be happy? Will the brothers be happy?
I love alpha males and the strong women who learn to love them. But I couldn’t get past the woodshed scene, the very first full fledge sex act which made me sick since he beat her with a whip and then raped he in her ass. She clearly says no, don’t, it hurts. But like any other rapists he tells her body is wet and wanting it. And to make it more sick he makes her say it and beg for the rape. We have to remember that they kidnapped her and gave her a choice death or move to Ireland with them.
This one started out so good but around a third of the way in, I started to lose interest. Right about when I realized this was another book that is a #WhyChoose rather than a RH. An okay book, just not what I was looking to read right now.
Monet McKnight is a young and independent woman. With the passing of her grandmother, she has no family left and nothing to her name but the shop left to her by her grandmother. It’s a quaint shop with tea, herbal remedies, lotions, crystals and a touch of magic and Monet uses her charms and personality to act the part of a modern day witch helping to make sales that keep her shop alive. She never suspected that befriending an innocent young woman would change her life forever.
The O’Shea brothers will do anything to keep their younger sister Alana happy and safe. She’s not the same girl she was before she witnessed her parents tragic deaths and they want to preserve her innocence as best as they can. When they discover her ties with Monet, the brothers threaten her to keep her distance and not to swindle their sister. When Monet refuses, the take matters into their own hands.
They O’Sheas want to leave their life as mobsters behind, but to do so they must go off the grid. They decide Alana needs a companion and even though they don’t trust her, they are attracted to Monet . . .so for personal reasons, they decide she is coming with them . . . . with or without her agreement!
Given the choice between playing along or death, Monet is forced into a life off the grid on the O’Shea farm in Ireland. Forced to give up everything she’s ever known, she now needs to find a way to adapt to survive. While she knows it’s wrong, she’s also forced to deal with her conflicting feelings and desires for the brothers that have kidnapped her and forced her into their family.
Bride to Keep was not your typical reverse harem book. While there is plenty of panty melting action between Monet and the four O’Shea brothers, I really found myself drawn to the actual plot of the story more so than the steamy moments.
Monet is an extremely strong character. She’s willing to do what she needs to in order to survive and actually finds herself enjoying the hard work and quiet lifestyle living on a small working farm entails. She genuinely cares for Alana and wants to protect her innocence just as much as her brothers do. My one real issue is just how easily Monet seems to give in to her fate and desires . . . I mean, they are super hot alpha men, but she was kidnapped against her will.
The O’Shea brothers are not good men, but truly love their sister. They also all find themselves attracted to Monet and even though she’s their captive, she quickly begins to mean more to each of them. She quickly does become a part of the family that is to be cared for and protected, just like Alana. Alana’s character is also fabulous. She’s a beautiful soul you can’t help but to fall in love with.
I really enjoyed the parts of the book that revolved around the farm and all that it takes to make it work without the modern conveniences we take for granted. There is also plenty of heated moments between Monet and each of the brothers as well as a visit from the O’Shea brothers’ past that changes everything they are building together in Ireland in the blink of an eye.
If you enjoy a reverse harem with some dark undertones, Bride to Keep is a fabulous read. 4 stars
If you like heat, then this is the book for you. Bride to Keep is a reverse harem story. This book is different than others reverse harem books I have read, which is a good thing. This book has action, but it also has a lot of heat. I enjoyed this book. I liked the plot of this book. Dangerous men kidnap a woman for their own personal motivations. What I can say is those motivations will surprise you. I wasn’t expecting the reasoning behind their kidnapping of this woman. I can say it set of a chain of events that will bring about some major consequences. Monet is an interesting main character. She is strong willed, but also smart. She has an excellent sense of self-preservation. I really liked the moves she made within this book. I think Cal was my favorite guy from the four guys, but that is just because I feel like I got to know him best. The heat in this book in unrivaled. If you like dirty and kinky sex, then this is the book for you. There is tons of scenes that made me blush. I think the whole idea of reverse harem is hot on its own, but I especially think the authors did a good job taking this book to the next level with the heat. So the writing style of this book is ok. I liked the characters well enough. The pace was steady. I understood what was going on. My complaint is that it wasn’t enough. I needed more from the guys to feel more invested in them. I was completely invested in in Monet, but I didn’t feel that same connection with the guys. Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a good and sexy read. I really liked the action within the book as well. It was just enough to give me a taste without feeling over powering. This book surprised me. I would recommend this book to others. I would hope that maybe the authors would write a novella or something similar to give us more of the boys Ratings: Plot: 5/5 Characters: 5/5 Heat: 5/5 Writing Style: 4/5 Overall: 4/5
In Bride to Keep we are introduced to four ruthless brothers. They come from an Irish background and are a mafia family. They are intense and so whatever needs to be done to get the job done and to keep their family safe. When Monet comes onto their rader, destiny and lives are about to be forever changed. I really liked each of the brothers. Each was intense in their own ways. Each was sweet as fit their characteristics. And each was fierce and loyal to one another,to their sister and to their loved ones. I loved both Monet and Alana. Each one was total opposite of the other but their love and connection in their friendship worked perfectly for them. I love kickass ladies and this is exactly what Monet was. No matter the circumstances she found herself in,her sassiness and snark was always right there in your face. She took to her fate like a boss! The writing flowed smoothly and cleanly. If there wasn’t two authors name on this book I would never could have told that two different people had written this book. I enjoyed the storyline and plot very much! Filled with gripping intense moments. A lot is hot sexiness. But beware to have tissues on hand because you will definitely shed tears. Yes I cried my eyes out. So it’s not only a book to get lost into a fantasy about four sexy Irish men but provokes many other emotions as well.
Bride To Keep by Alta Hensley is a really smart story about the O'Shea brothers. A Irish crime family who at the end of their time in the life of a crime has decided to take their little sister to their homeland in Ireland. So she will not be lonely on the family farm, the brothers decide she needs a companion. Monet is the town witch at least that is what she is selling herself as so she can support herself and keep her grandma's store alive. Alana comes by the store as often as she can sneak away from her brothers. One night a couple of her brothers decide to take Monet. She had no ideal what was in store for when Alana's brothers came into her store and she wakes up in the basement of a house in another country. Now she is in a new country on a farm in the middle of nowhere with 4 sexy alpha males. Each one has a trait that has her lady bits a tingling. A really good story told in a way that made me want to be Monet. The story had legs which at one point had me in tears. I can't say it enough how I liked this story. It might be 4 men to 1 woman having hot sex. This story was so much more. A 5 star read for me.
This is a reverse harem book with a difference and it works! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It is very easy to read, fast paced, has a good plot, the characters are terrific and there is enough drama to make it exciting.
The characters are worth mentioning again, Monet in particular. She is such a feisty, determined woman and one very easy to like. She finds it hard to understand her attraction for all of the O'Shea brothers and that's fair enough too. Alana O'Shea is a sweetheart and a real balance to her brother's darker sides. Cal, Nolan, Derrick and Rogan O'Shea are all panty dropping hunks, is it any wonder Monet is attracted to them all?
The intimacy in this book is explicit, as you would expect, but not over the top, I feel it is written extremely well.
Above and beyond everything the message in this book is how important family is.
Bride to Keep defiantly threw me for a loop... a good loop at that! I thought this dark reverse harem would be filled with hot sexual pleasures (which it did!! ahm, the Woodshed!) and that would sum it up... NOPE! This novel had so much more to the story. Alta Hensley and Maggie Ryan filled these pages with emotion like you've never seen. Emotion that will tear at your heart strings by the end of this story in which you will use up half the tissue box.
"The bad times only make the good ones so much better. The hurt makes the happiness...bigger somehow. More precious."
Monet and the O'Shea brothers take you for a whirlwind reverse love story, but the real showstopper is Alana! Her words, her character, her persona... the list goes on for that girl... she embed in my heart. She is the one that held everyone together.
This is a MUST read for all. Don't let Bride to Keep slip through your fingers!!
