Damn, I love this author.
I swear, every time I read one of her books my love and respect for her just grows and grows.
The way she writes mental and physical health concerns, the way she writes active consent and any kind of power exchange dynamic. It’s just exactly what I hope for in a book.

Definitely check TWs for this book. Molly has some major health concerns going on and permeates the entire read, making it very emotional and sad sad at times.

*sigh*
Go me, for deciding to reread my favorite Laylah Roberts’ series this year. That was a fantastic decision on my part. Damn if they don’t just get better and better as I god through them all again.

Haven,Texas is growing more on me with each book that i read.
The protectiveness of the men, their sense of honor and take charge attitude,is something a lot of men in the real world can take as an example.
The sweet and sassy women, that all thrive under their strict but loving care, and all adore their men.

So,when Molly decides to come to Haven, she knows she’s going to a beautiful town.
Sadly, the reason she does,is because she has a bucketlist.....
Finding out she had a lump in her breast, made her realise she, like her mother and grandmother, wouldn’t grow old like other, healthy people.
Having heard from Savannah and her men what Haven is like, made her decide to take the plunge and experience the special vibe herself.
The first person she encounters,is the sheriff,Jake.
Now thát is a man she would love to see more of.....
Only, she seems to get on his nerves with the things she takes off her list.....
The woman gets under his skin, and she’s everywhere he turns, she even haunts his mind and more....
When he finds her in Saxon’s,the local BDSM club,he’s had enough and takes control.
With a contract they should both be safe from anything permanent, whilst still exploring her needs.....and his.

When Molly finds out why he doesn’t want anything permanent,it breaks her heart.
Knowing she already loves him,she makes the only choice she thinks is best.
But is it the best choice?

Will Jake find the woman he’s grown to love?
Will Molly get a chance at a happy life?
Will she live?

A tenderhearted story of a second chance at life, one that was told with care.
And one that i enjoyed,a lot!

The couple: Jake and Molly

Romance genre: bdsm
Series: Haven, Texas
Length: 212 pages

Plot: We get to know the sheriff a little better in this installment! Molly is a therapist - we met her before in Laken's Surrender and Saving Savannah (and we also see her in the author's other series, Montana Daddies). She's received some bad news and so has come to visit Haven and cross some items off her bucket list. The sheriff doesn't know about the so he's not too keen on her doing dangerous things like riding a motorcycle or skateboarding. In fact, he can't understand why he is so drawn to protecting Molly. Molly, for her part, is very much into the sheriff but she doesn't want to be the cause of his distress. He has to make a decision when she leaves - follow her or let her go.

Commentary: I was surprised at Molly; she seemed to be a good therapist in the other books, but her personality was not at all what I imagined it would be. She was - goofier? More reckless? It all stemmed from her medical issues, I'm sure, but it just surprised me. And Jake surprised me even more. He was a jerk! He left the house, and Molly went looking for his "bag of tricks" (there's light bdsm in this one, so...). A box from the top of the closet fell and he came in as she was cleaning it up. He accuses her of going through the box (which held memories of his dead wife that he hadn't told her about):
Three days had passed since he’d walked in to find her going through that box in his closet. The one that held all the photos he’d saved of Rebecca.

He continues to act like she did it on purpose and he won't talk to her or listen to her and she acts like it is her fault.
“Once again, you figured you knew best, didn’t you?” he said coldly, standing.

Then after telling her he would never leave her:
He turned and walked out, unable to be in the same room with her anymore. He needed time to think. To decide what to do next.

And then he comes back and says (like he hadn't just been a total ass who walked out):
“Oh, love, don’t cry. It’s okay. It’s all right. I’m here now and I’m not angry. Sh, now, you’re gonna make yourself sick, and I think you threw up enough last night to last you a while.” She let out a small laugh. “Sorry about that.” “The next time you want to go out you can be damned certain I’m going with you. I will not have another man feeling up my woman.” She stiffened. “What do you mean?” “I’ve done a lot of thinking today. Baby, you were wrong to keep this from me. Even more wrong to leave the way you did.”

She left because she thought things were over...because he wouldn't talk to her and told her she should leave.

So he's not a very good hero as far as I'm concerned.

I did not know when I started this book that there were 3 previous books to this series. Thank goodness they are all more or less standalone. There are characters from previous books and mentions of those stories but it doesn't take away from this book.

Molly ends up in Haven to take care of her bucket list. She is determined that when her life ends it will be on her terms. But she never thought she would ever meet someone like Jake. All she wants is to find some fun at the local BDSM club and take some much needed time with friends.

Jake is the local sheriff. He is still trying to get over a tragedy from his past. He has not had anyone in his life for 2 years or so. But when he meets Molly he decides to get involved with the scene again and interduce her into the life.

I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I will be going back to read the other stories to this series.

After her mother and grandmother died young from breast cancer despite the most advanced treatment, Molly has always felt like a ticking time bomb. So when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she decided to forego treatment, and live out her bucket list -- starting with visiting friends in Haven, Texas. She buts heads with town sheriff Jake, but had chemistry with him as well.

This is a good romance novel. I understand poor Molly's hesitation to go through what she thinks is futile treatment, and her reluctance to tell anyone about her problems -- though she does tend to run away too easily. They're a good couple, and this is a good book.

I loved Molly, she is so strong, even when she thinks her time is limited. She wants to live her life to the fullest, however short it may be. I also loved Jake. He is a dominant and is afraid to love someone for fear of losing them. He focuses all his energy on his job as sheriff. He wasn't prepared for a spitfire like Molly. Their connection is instant and strong. Can this duo help each other, without breaking each other's hearts?

So far, I've read book 7 in the series and loved, and book 6 in the series which was okay. There were some things in there that I didn't particularly like. I wanted to read this book because it's Jake's book and he's appeared in both the books I've read so far and I've liked him. Sadly, as much as I like him, I do not like Molly at all. Her attitude from the moment she meets him just rubbed me the wrong way. Sure, I was sympathetic towards her since she's got a limited life expectancy due to a rather tragic family history which took both her mother and grandmother at a very young age and it appears she's next, hence the bucket list. Still, I didn't like her and her attitude and behaviour right from the get go made me not want to read about her story because I was not willing to put up with her. I'm sorry Jake, I really wanted to read about how you got your happy ever after but I hated your woman.

Enjoyed it in parts, but the plot is ridiculous, and they’re both keeping huge secrets.

In a lot of ways I enjoyed this book the most so far, as Molly is really funny. Then there’s the authors obvious dislike and horrible comments about her size ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE BOOK! 😡😡😡 I noticed in the first book that the author says about Lila that she’s slim and small and she’s the perfect size for being a little, and that’s what men wanted. It annoyed me then and it annoyed me again in the second book as she described Laken as the perfect size! It never says what size Molly is but she’s obviously curvy with big breasts, and Jake fancies her straight away, but the comments go through the whole book, about her dimply thighs etc. it’s so annoying! 😡😡😡

Moving on. Molly was the amazing therapist that completely cured Laken and Savannah. Yes I am being sarcastic. So when Molly moves to Haven they welcome her with open arms. Molly has a huge secret about her health that drags out through the whole book and didn’t make sense when it was revealed. Jake is the sheriff of Haven, and he’s a surly bitter man who lost his wife in a car accident. For some bizarre reason no one knows that he did at Haven even his ‘best friend’ didn’t know.

Jake and Molly really don’t get along at first as he finds her a nuisance and is constantly telling her off. When Molly goes to Saxons bdsm to try it out, Jake becomes her dom and it’s HOT! The sex scenes are seriously good in this one. As they get closer to each they’re both keeping secrets, and it’s annoying.

Eventually they talk to each other and everything is great but the plot about Mollys health is really badly written. As an intelligent woman it doesn’t make sense what she did.

There are quite a lot mistakes in this one. Jake is called out to the Malones as one of the brothers has shot the other one, charming and their book is coming up. Anyway I went off topic, Molly asks Jake how many brothers there are and he says six I think. Then he’s talking to Duncan on the next page, and says there’s eight. The big ones are the plots about Mollys health which is stupid and wouldn’t have happened, and no one knowing Jake had been married and lost his wife.

Molly’s Man by Laylah Roberts is a part of the Haven, Texas series and will have you yearning for more by the end.

Molly has known since she was a little girl that she would die young; after all her grandmother and her mother both died in their 30s from breast cancer. So, it isn’t a surprise really when Molly finds a lump and is told it is cancer. She decides that it is time to quit her job and start on that bucket list. First stop: Haven, TX. She wants to experience life in the short time she has left and the stories of Haven she heard from former patient and friend, Savannah, sound like just what she needs. A little spanking, a little bondage, a little fun. She also might be a little naive about the BDSM life-style.

Jake is the sheriff and takes the responsibility of law and order and the safety of the citizens of Haven, TX seriously. Maybe too seriously. Ever since Rebecca died, he has not been able to really relax or make a connection with any woman. So, when Molly shows up, he really has his hands full. He thinks he can control the relationship and keep it to just “training,” but can he really?

Molly is keeping her future a secret; Jake is keeping his past a secret. Can they each get out of their own way to enjoy the time they have together?

I really enjoyed Molly’s Man and definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a fun and sexy read. This was Book 4, so I need to find 1-3 and am really looking forward to 5 (Hope it is Saxon’s story.)

I really liked Molly being such a firecracker but she was a little naive about BDSM. I loved Jake too and how he was so honest and upfront and wasn’t afraid to admit to being wrong or being scared. His emotions about being guilty for not being there for his wife was heart wrenching but Saxon trying to help was so sweet but sneaky when trying to get Jake with Molly. I can’t wait for Saxon’s story!

I did think book was a little short but it was still great! It was also interesting that Jake remained celebate not because he thought he would betray his wife but because he didn’t feel a connection with anyone. He wasn’t a player even though there were opportunities (at least it was mentioned that he could have been with women at club).

I thought I had read the others in this series but it doesn’t show up in Amazon so I will have to check out the rest! It didn’t take anything away from the story that I hadn’t read the previous but it does mention things that happened on those stories briefly so you might want to read them in order. This doesn’t bother me though.

BDSM romance

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
I adored Molly, such a strong female lead. With a wonderful outlook on life and a secret she does not want to share, armed with her bucket list she goes forward with joy straight to Haven.
Jake is a strong lead too, but there isn't actually very much from his POV and I think that's what is missing from the series. I think it's why I am unable to form a connection with the characters, the in depth male POV isn't there in sufficient detail.
That said, the storyline is engaging and I couldn't wait to see what Molly got up to next.
There are some sex scenes of a BDSM nature, remember, Haven is all about using spanking as a form of discipline and although in this book there is a deeper exploration of Saxons BDSM club the very least you find in Haven is domestic discipline.
There is a little swearing too, but nothing upsetting.
There are some errors but not enough to kill the book.
If you are a fan of the genre I have no problem recommending the series.

Jake and Molly
I absolutely love Jake. As the sheriff of Haven, Texas, he shoulders more responsibility than he probably should, always putting others before himself. After losing his wife in a car accident years ago, he’s carried a heavy burden of guilt, believing he should have done more to protect her—even when it was out of his control. That loss shaped him, making him fiercely protective and reluctant to open his heart again.
Molly, a dedicated therapist, spends her days helping others work through their struggles. But when it comes to her own healing, she has no idea where to begin. Fortunately, Jake is more than willing to be the steady force she needs, showing her that sometimes, even those who help others deserve a little help themselves.
Their story is one of healing, second chances, and learning to let go of the past to embrace the future. Watching Jake finally allow himself to love again and seeing Molly find someone willing to support her just as much as she supports others made this a heartfelt and satisfying read.

Molly's Man by Laylah Roberts
Molly wants what her friends have for as long as she lives--even that little while. She doesn't want their pity. She moves to the town where the men are caring and protective if a little controlling. Just for a while until it is time to move on.

Jake is sheriff, an alpha who sticks to the rules and is lonely. Molly and shouldn't tempt him. She's a little too sassy and independent. He has a secret past, she a secret future. Can two people so different be right for each other? Will those secrets keep them apart?

You'll enjoy watching him try to tame her and while she tries to comply. The story is funny, touching, the characters ones you want to find happiness. Like all good romances, the end will leave you with that ahh feeling. You'll have cried, laughed, become invested in the couple and their friends and town.

I didn't really like this one that much. I could understand Molly's fear, but I didn't understand her not having a support system.

It seems like if she felt like she could pack up her life to move to a town that her two former patienrs, now friends, lived in, she could have shared her issues with them.

Molly seemed childish to me. She was a practicing psychiatrist. I couldn't take her seriously as someone who helped people through their trauma based on the way she was portrayed in this book. Jake seemed angry all of the time. Not as much with Molly, but with his gang of "friends". It seemed to me as the sheriff of Haven, he should have been able to have a conversation with another man without snarling at him.

It was an OK read. It just didn't do much for me. Luckily it was a KU read.

I enjoyed this installment in the Haven, Texas series.

I liked Molly. Not only that, but I also enjoyed that her struggle was different to what you typically see in these books for MFC, she wasn't struggling to make ends meet or being abused which you often see in this genre, but she still was wrestling with something all too real and scary. Her situations and balancing it with Jake past was also interesting.

I liked Jake as well. The heroes in these stories can be a bit of a hit or miss for me, but I liked that Jake was struggling with his own trauma and issues which he eventually acknowledges. I love when heroes apologize when they mess up and Jake does. Not all heroes do, so I appreciate it when I see it. There was also plenty of sexiness when things do ramp up.

Overall, I liked this book.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it and in the middle of the series. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by picking up book four of the series, it can be read as a complete standalone. Molly, Molly, Molly- she turns Haven completely upside down especially Jake. He is drawn to her from the beginning but he isn’t interested in another relationship and that’s good with Molly because she is dying and just wants to accomplish the things on her bucket list. Jake is a stickler for the rules and when Molly doesn’t fall in line he sees her as a personal challenge. Molly is sassy with an independent streak a mile wide which shouldn’t temp Jake, but it does. Will Jake be able to tame Molly? Does he even want to?

Touched my heart

Molly is a gifted psychologist who leaves her practice to live in Haven. Told she might have breast cancer, which killed her mom and grams, she is wants to let go and experience life. She meets Sheriff Jake who then becomes her training Dom. They both have secrets and a trigger of of feeling left out. In Molly's case the silent treatment. Laylah Roberts stole my heart with her perceptive dialogue. One sentence made me sit and think for a long time. "Losing any touch or communication would be like slowly starving you,." Jake said explaining why Molly felt sick when her boyfriend would get angry and walk out, not talking or seeing her for several days. What perception. I did not realize how true that was.

Trigger warning- breast cancer.

I've read this entire series except this book until now. Breast Cancer's been a real fear of mine for years. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Molly was so strong, it doesn't go into detail at all, Jake ended up totally there for Molly, and they have a HEA/HFN ending. Molly was quite a pip. She had some really good comebacks and was refreshingly honest and funny. I loved when he'd tell her to stay put and she kept disappearing on him. Too funny. I had some LOL moments, and there was no tissues. The cancer and her emotions were treated with respect. I would reccomend this book, and I'm sorry I didn't read it in order of the series. Mentions in future books would've made more sense. Happy reading.

Beautiful story!

I thought Molly was a great character! So real, and the fear, and constant worry about breast cancer, was very real life stuff. Jake had his heart locked up tight. After a loss of his wife years prior , he only allowed for the general , Protective Father figure kind of affection in his heart. Even then, only towards the people of the town. Molly comes into his life, trying to save an older man, who's trapped in his car, that is stuck in a ditch. She doesn't listen to his relayed instructions to stay safe in her own car, and ends up wet, freezing, with a sprained ankle. How they come together as a couple, is funny, sweet, and very sexy. Great heart warming HEA ending. Trish. A.

Entertaining

For important reasons, Molly has quit her job as a therapist, deciding to travel. First she will visit Haven and catch up with two special women Savannah and Larken, whom she helped through traumatic events. Next she will move on to a tropical island.
Arriving in Haven she is plunged into an event where she comes face to face with the sheriff. Jake sees 'trouble' coming from a mile away and is drawn to this woman despite promising himself he would never get involved again.

An entertaining read with two good main characters. We catch up briefly with characters from previous books too.

Molly Wins Jake And Haven

Molly we've read about in Savannah's book. She decides to come to Haven to visit Savannah and Max and Logan. She created a bucket list and marking off each line as she completes them. She's trying her hand at BDSM at Saxon's club. Jake catches d sight of her and then their story starts. Excellent story, I think this is my favorite on so far of this series. Though since Saxon is last and next up, I think it will be a heavy hitter of your heart I'm guessing and hoping.

Tear jerker/page turner

Beautifully written and kept me captivated from beginning to end. Molly came to Havan to visit friends, check out the town and work on her bucket list. Jake, the town sheriff is intrigued and exasperated by Molly, she doesn't stay put, follow orders, is a brat and constantly in trouble; he is going to have his hands full with that one. I have never laughed so hard, fanned my self so much or cried going through a ton of tissues. If there is such a place and men like Jake, I would move to that wonderful little town!

Molly's Man

Jake and Molly, their story is an emotional roller coaster. Both of them had kept secrets from each other. They let things get out of hand and their secrets get in the way. Jake and Molly both had guilt from the past to deal with in their own way and both were afraid of the future. Their chemistry made for steamy scenes. Navigating these huge feelings of the love they weren't prepared for made it that much better when they finally figured it out. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next in Haven.

Wow, this story took my breath away. Molly is such a strong character and I am so glad we got to read her story. Jake is a tough man who has lived with guilt years, he doesn’t want a permanent relationship. Molly has her own reasons for wanting a temporary fling. But when these two come together, sparks fly. A well-written story with twists, heat, bdsm, and romance. Don’t miss this addition to the Haven series.

This story was so beautiful, and made me think of my own bucket list.

Laylah Roberts wrote this book amazingly, she makes you fall in love with all the characters.

I loved Jake, he is protective, takes everything to heart, but also can be stern. He abides by the rules, and works hard.

I loved Molly, she is sassy, bratty and big hearted. She is scared, but she wants to fit everything in whilst she can. She has a big heart.

I really loved this book, and highly recommend it. wtmo

Really Cute Read

I didn't think Jake could be brought to his knees, his wall he built after missing his wife is about to be broken. When Molly comes to town to complete her bucket list before it's too late. All It takes is a meeting on the wet night and we're off to an exciting adventure.

Hot... Very, very hot :)

I've enjoyed all of the series so far and recommend them all but this one deserves it's own special mention. The BDSM scenes are seriously hot, well written and very sexy. The Dom is all things a good Dom should be, no relying on alphahole tropes and bullying, this author obviously knows the difference.
