Ryohgo Narita (成田 良悟, Narita Ryōgo) is a Japanese light novelist. He won the Gold Prize in the 9th Dengeki Novel Prize for Baccano!, which was made into a TV anime in 2007.[1] His series Durarara!! was also made into a TV anime, which began airing January 2010

There are two traits found in most of Narita's works:
* Narita writes extremely fast, one volume a month if he wishes - with tons of spelling errors and missing words as a tradeoff. The editors like to leave them sometimes just for fun, though.
* His work titles often have an exclamation mark at the end (i.e. Baccano!, Vamp!, Durarara!!, etc.).

Kanji names:

One of those mishmash manga that tries to stuff in everything but the kitchen sink. We have an I-see-dead-people magic user from a fantasy world transported to modern-day non-magical Tokyo where he is trapped in a teenage boy's body and immediately falls in with a group of oh-so-quirky characters including a large-breasted assassin in a school-girl uniform working for a secret crime organization run by a large-breasted woman who wears a monocle and employs a drone-obsessed non-breasted tech guy. Super-cool rogue police officers pursue them all. The protagonist hunts magic power while introducing supernatural creatures like zombies and monsters and revealing already existing, previously overlooked supernatural elements like ghosts.

And there is fan service. Breast-focused fan service. Up-skirt fan service. Scissoring lesbian fan service.

It's been labeled "mature," but this is pure male adolescent wish fulfillment fantasy. Too quirky, too creepy.

As much as I liked this concept - a good complicated "villain" is well up my alley - I can't get past the amount of tits and ass in this. Every woman had melon-sized breasts. Every single one of them. Plus, panty shots, creepily objectified lesbian sex, and multiple instances of smothered by breasts.

No thanks.

Read this awhile back, so I did another re-read to catch up with the newer volumes.

I remember being surprised that the one who isekai'ed wasn't the "hero", but the villain. Pretty neat concept that isn't used more often.

It's cool how the MC is a necromancer, especially in a world where magic doesn't exist. Hehe, I wonder how much havoc he'll wreck!

The manga could do without the fanservice though. I'm pretty used to seeing it in shounen manga, but it didn't really add anything to the story, except for showing us how "close" some characters are. Hahah.

At first I only decided to read this because of the cover because it's really quite gorgeous! (Yes, I'm a sucker for good covers...) And then I found out the author also wrote Baccano!, which I absolutely loved (and have yet to finish reading...). Here's to hoping it has the same amount of light-heartedness and interesting plot like Baccano! does!

"Sebuah Usaha Mencari Kedamaian"

(Hei)

This manga is nothing to write home about. I like the "reverse isekai" idea and also that the villain protagonist. The art style is top notch and I have a weakness for intense scenes like the one in this first volume. I can even live with the obnoxious fanservice.
But. I draw the line at creepy objectifying lesbian sex and though I like the "normal looking dude/kid/girl is actually unhinged and dangerous" trope, almost ALL of the characters in this manga were like that, so it lost its flavor pretty quick.
All in all very tropey but it keeps its 3 stars because I'm so enamoured with the art style and with how ghosts and death/soul magic are visually presented. Also the fight scenes are high quality.

In the mood for anything but shoujo and this came up.
I was confused at first thinking the reincarnated MC was a hero, he's a villain....or should I just say anti hero?

He has a skewered sense of ethics.
But again, moi aussi

I'm expecting more gore. Giving ajin and tokyou ghoul vibe with less cool art.

i like the art, i like the main character, and i like the surprise that came with the main character

uhhhh ehm that's probably about it tho, the main character's sidekick is annoying and a lot of the blee-blah there is in this book could probably stand to be trimmed

I tried writing about this volume without spoiling it, but its virtually impossible to do, so be warned. This review of the first volume of Dead Mount Death Play contains some serious spoilers which might diminish your reading experience.

From the start, this manga is set up as your reverse isekai, hero destroys demon overlord and somehow, with his dying breath, the demon overlord sends the hero in our, modern day time/world. Except that is not what happens. The demon overlord is actually the protagonist, and he uses his powers to escape his world and travel to ours, while the rest of his world thinks that your usual, run of the mill hero slayed him. Your classical win win, the hero gets fame and glory, the demon overlord gets a chance to start his life over in another world.

Now we come to the big personal reveal on the part of the demon overlord. The very reason why eh wants to switch worlds and start a new life is the fact that he isn’t truly evil. He wanted to lead a normal, peaceful life. But, in his world, with all the stereotypes that surround his kind, with all the trauma he has been through, and all the rumors that were spread about him, it is impossible for him to have the life he wishes he could lead. It is the sincerity of the character, combined with the well-crafted, traumatic backstory which makes this sort of reveal and characterization very believable.
Does he get what he wishes for as soon as he arrives in modern day Japan? Why yes of course. And that’s the end of the manga.

Of course not… there are multiple complications which he has to deal with as soon as he starting figuring out where he is and what type of world it truly is. The boy whose body he has inherited, was just slayed. He realizes that he will need to play the same part to a degree. But, this time, he will do it under his own rules, in his own way. And in addition to that he will use his powers to make some people and ghosts happy.

The manga has a lot of ecchi stuff in it. There are plenty of ass, tit, pantie shots. Mostly its fine, but there are scenes where it messes with the tone of delivery. Hard to take a serial killer seriously if she’s bending over in bizarre ways while delivering some killer monologue. There is also one scene which is a full-blown porn scene. That took me by surprised. This type of media is usually tamer. But Dead Mount Death Play really went full porn.

Another highlight is the art. Shinta Fujimoto, the illustrator does an incredible job. Every big scene where the demon overload casts his spells looks incredible. Both in terms of detail, the shading and innovation of spiritual stuff that floats around. The same attention to detail is given to most panels. The artist gives their whole to create a sense of place, creating very beautiful and detailed interiors and exteriors.

I gotta be honest, I kinda liked this one. It’s a really interesting story about a necromancer that ends up in our current world and joins a group of assassins basically. Relatively a slow start in terms of plot material however it makes up for it in character development. Immediately Polka, Misaki, and kurupon make a great trio. They have this bong between them that I I like and can’t really find many other places or let alone there’s due to the unique nature of all three of them, a necromancer corpse god, a zombie assassin, and a body collecting drone pilot that’s great with intel. They obviously work for a larger group together but immedaitly I’m starting to like the bonds that they are creating with each other, especially how polka is able to connect with everyone and still take care of the true polka also. Also love how he put polkas true sole into a stuffed shark, I hope they get him vocal chords. Haha also hentai Haha

Even an antargonist is initially just a disturbed peace-seeker.

With his profession as a necroscer, he was an infidel who had to be hunted down in his time, and even his foster son could not be saved because he was accused of being a tainted necroscer by the Church.

A powerful necroscer known as the Corpse God died in a legendary battle, only to be reborn as Polka Shinoyama, a young boy in modern Tokyo. Seeing such a peaceful world, Polka feels that this is the world he wants to live in, but unfortunately he still has to deal with local gangs, as he is a wanted man, but thanks to his skills, he manages to make connections.

To "achieve peace" Polka has to earn money by working as a fortune teller. Imagine being told a fortune by a seasoned fortune teller in the modern world who can see and control the ghost with the support of internet information, you can say that the accuracy is one hundred percent.

I really enjoyed the anime, therefore I picked up the manga. I find Polka soooo cute, I love when his lil face is showing on the page and he does some silly look with Misaki, both of them are adorable at times.

What I dislike about the manga is the unescessary fanservice.. I can see its written by a man. The anime did not have fanservice of my knowledge, maybe some smaller scenes but not to the extent the manga does. Like Clarissa and the ladies getting hot and heavy was not what I expected, and I was indeed very shook seeing that... and also can they let my girl Misaki be? No need for underage girl fanservice. I'll keep on reading due to that I adored the anime and the story in dead mount death play, but I hope the fanservice will die down!!

4/5 ⭐️ (-1 due to fanservice)
Do I recommend? Maybe, but I would recommend to watch the anime !

I picked up this manga series, after watching the anime with my son. The premise of the story revolves around a reverse isekai, anti-hero known as the Coprse God who reanimates into the body of a teenage boy who has just been murdered. The idea is a great one, but the story is full of tropes. The protaganists are normal looking teenager who is anything but normal and a normal looking teenage girl who is an insane contract killer. they are surrounded by other quirky characters including Hot Hunk paranormal detectives, and lots of women shapely women. Fan service includes women with melon sized breasts, panty shots, and an objectified lesbian Ménage à Trois. Teenage boys and young men will love this series. For other readers, if you can overlook the juvenile fan service the story is entertaining and the art is great. The representation of the ghosts and monsters is very interesting.

At the end of the book is a bonus short story. While the manga follows the Corpse God'snew life in modern day Japan, the story of his foe the Calamity Crusher is told in a serial of short stories in this book series. After battleing the copse God, he reads the diaries that were found in the lair. It is in these books, that he discovers the underbelly of the religous sect he had been serving. He realizes tha t his enemy was actually a good entity and that the true evil was his temple. If the protagonists actions had not proved his true character in the manga, the story would confirm the fact. I actually enjoyed that parallel story more than the main story in the manga.

watched the anime, needed more as it had just released episode 5

The anime does justice to the manga, mostly. Inside we get a little more leaning into the 17+ rating, but the characters, their struggles and depth are all here.
I enjoyed the first time through and reading it gives you time to see all the seeds they are sowing for future storylines.
At the time of this review there are 8 volumes and I suspect the anime will not cover them all before the end of its 2023 spring season. Looking forward to seeing the tale take off in both formats.

I loved the art style, and I enjoyed the storyline, but I doubt I'll continue reading the series because..... BOOBS. Good lord, the excessive amount of tiddy in this book, sheesh. It's gratuitous, and really detracts from the story. Like, I can live with the fact that most young men will read this and want to see sexualized women, but... this one was just a bit too over the top for my tolerance.

This manga really took me by surprise because of its choice of isekai, and I think that alone makes it worth the read. The plot is a little all over so it takes a bit to understand which could make it hard to get into the series. Other than that, the characters are well written and all different enough to stay interesting. Plus there's an ongoing written story in the back of every volume that follows a character we lose sight of in the very beginning.

After watching the anime, I read this to relive the chaotic and fast-paced mystery. The premise is simple - an ancient necromancer from a fantasy world is reincarnated as a teenager in Japan. The twist is that the teenager was just murdered, and now the Corpse God is at the center of a mystery that just gets bigger and weirder every episode/chapter.

The characters are interesting. The plot has me hooked, and if you like urban mystery fantasy, then you'll probably enjoy this too.

An intriguing premise from beginning to end. The first volume does a really good job at giving you, interesting Characters with enough Mystery surrounding they're motivations to keep reading. I was surprised by the balance of Violence, Drama and Comedy that doesn't over do it with it's fan-service either. This was quite the entertaining read, and I will definitely be picking up Volume 2.

Interesting enough so far (read up to chapter 60), and I do like the blend of isekai, horror, and gangsters. It had reminded me of Durarara even before I knew it was from the same author! A lot of fan service with ridiculous female proportions. I wish the yuri relationship was actually well-rounded or established rather than just gratuitous, but it was a nice inclusion.

So I liked the story. A villain with good morals feels weirdly ok. I didn’t like all the unnecessary sexism but it’s not uncommon in manga i guess. The art is not the nicest I’ve seen but also not the worst. Maybe I will continue this some day but I’m not really in a hurry.

The MC gets taken in by a criminal organization and thats about it. Now its time to settle down into this city as in his previous life he was a big deal in a medieval time with knights and dragons. Pretty let down as i had high expectations for this series.
