Hell's Bells

Rate this book
A catastrophe has befallen Hell. The great and mighty Lucifer has fallen prey to the most wicked of spells. He’s become…nice.

Just using that word makes Gaia want to gag. The demon she fell in love with is not some pushover, polite, candy-ass, nice guy. She wants her big, bad Lord of Sin back.

Can she, along with the minions of Hell, find a way to break the curse? And will they do it in time to celebrate the wedding from Hell?

Review originally posted at RabidReads.com.

This is a series that I’ve loved for a while. I first met Lucifer back in 2011 when I read Lucifer’s Daughter in the Princess of Hell series. Once I started reading the Welcome to Hell series, my love of Lucifer only grew. In this series, Lucifer plays matchmaker between the demons, witches, shifters and more that he rules over in Hell. Now Lucifer is finally getting a book of his own. YAY!!

So this story starts not long after Hell’s Geek. Ursula, Poseidon’s ex-wife and a former lover of Lucifer, shows up. She’s put a curse on the King of Hell. He’s now nice (ugh). He is no longer trying to debauch the love of his life, Gaia. He’s planning on marrying her. And, he can’t have sex before their wedding night. This is not the man that Gaia wants to marry. So, she, with the help of many of Lucifer’s minions, have a plan to bring the old Lucifer back.

This is a really fun story. I loved the time that we get to spend with Lucifer, even if he isn’t himself. I think it was even more funny to see a nice Lucifer. Plus, you also have the thoughts in his head. The bad part of himself is there and argues with the nice Lucifer. There are also several of the other characters we’ve met along the way, though they all have pretty small parts.

Each chapter opens with a tweet from @GaiaLuc4Ever. These tweets were hilarious. The only thing that I would fault in the tweets are that both Gaia and Lucifer are both using this account. I felt that they should’ve each had their own account. Minor thing really, but it was something that I noticed.

@GaiaLuc4ever: 5 days until I get to see my beautiful bride walk down the aisle. #soexcited #squeeeeeee

@GaiaLuc4ever: Getting close to the journey’s end and have yet to kill irritatingly polite devil. #couldchangemymind #rideisnotdone

Each chapter also ends with a new hashtag. These were great, too. They each sorta summed up the feelling of each chapter.

As per usual with any Eve Langlais book I read. I end up with a ton of highlighted parts that I might want to include in the review. She has so many great little LOL moments, it is really hard to not put like tons of quotes, but then you wouldn’t need to read the book, so I try to limit them. Also, sometimes the quotes are spoilers, too, and we wouldn’t want to do that. I usually pick quotes from earlier in the book for that exact reason.

How Gaia missed the way Lucifer ate her pie. The new Mr. Manners hadn’t touched her since their party, claiming he was saving himself for their wedding night. Here she dated the biggest manwhore in all of Hell, and she couldn’t get any action. Meanwhile, she was out of fresh and firm cucumbers.
Don’t judge. Organic was all the craze these days, plus she was allergic to most rubbers and latex.

“You’re wearing pink pastel slacks and a Hawaiian shirt with pineapples.”
“I know. Utterly amazing.” He peeked down at his ensemble. “I know it’s a sin to have pride, but it’s a bigger sin to lie and say that I don’t look dashing.”
“I miss your penguin suspenders and your evil shark tie.”

I love Lucifer and I love this series. A polite and respectable Dark Lord is a little unnerving, but in the end his sinful ways prevail. And his addition of the missing, maybe not as corrupted as before, part of him just makes him that much better in the end. Also, the set up for the continuation of the series has me pretty excited.

Lucifer could be out of the loop at times, the man needs to catch up, “Hell went to war this morning? But how? I was sleeping.” Didn’t Hell going to war need some kind of approval by him?" Lucifer sure has a way with words, “don’t mock me, wench. I have needs.” I loved this book, I'm so happy a book is solely based on Lucifer, he was always entertaining in the other books of this series.

With Lucifer's upcoming nuptials to Gaia and his very much changed personality from sinner to saintly, it is a race against time to get Lucifer back to his old sinning ways.

This book focuses on Lucifer and Gaia themselves, but the other characters from the previous books do get some mentions.

Eve Langlais has a way of writing that pulls you along and has you giggling at the antics of the character and you really end up invested in their happiness and you really want a good happy ending.

A really good ending to this series.

Hell’s Bells is the latest book in the Hell series and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. In the previous book Lucifer ended up losing his meanness. He became the nicest guy in hell and that meant very bad things for everyone. So in this story we follow Gaia and Lucifer and the adventures they end up on to get the old Lucifer back. This was fun, sweet and it was great to see all the previous characters from previous books.

Lizzie wakes to church bells tolling, which leads her to an evil presence murdering people. Lizzie and Aiden keep getting thwarted in their attempts to date but they are determined to make it happen. With all that is happening on the reservation an RWA witch is summoned and may blow Lizzie and Belle's cover. A lot of story, more info on Lizzie, Belle and Aiden and the vampire on the reservation. Very interested in the next story.

I liked this book, I really did but I felt like something was missing. It picked up where the last book left off. So it fits the series in that respect but all of the other books have Lucifer playing matchmaker and being quite mischievous with his minions. That is what I am missing in this book. I loved reading about his schemes and there were none of those in this book. Don't get me wrong, it is a perfectly good book but the rest of the series spoiled me and I was looking for more of that.

A good end to this series. It's funny seeing Lucifer turned "nice" and Eve Langlais's nod to the current social media trend of putting everything online #hashtag. :)

I love Lucifer, he's hysterical. Fun story with good pacing although unbelievable and harder to follow if you haven't read the rest

I will be rereading this book many times! Omg Eve Langlais has done it again. I am in love with her Hell series and absolutely love the character she creates in each book. This is the wedding of the king of sin his self but talk about role reversal. Instead of the the get under her skirt evil and lude and innuendo making devil we get mister manners. Oh this made it a laugh a minute with them trying to uncurse him before the wedding to mother nature herself Gaia.

“Did he just say…” someone whispered at the back.
“Yes, he did.”
“Someone should check for snow. Again.”

Lucifer is doing his best to be the best groom in the world and help his snukmins with all the wedding cake flowers but since when does the devil lower himself to this. Since that dreaded kiss at his engagement party.

Gaia has had enough mister nice guy has got to go she needs her naughty demon back in her life and bed and she has the legion of hell behind her to see that it happens one way or another. But what if they cant get her man back. How can she even think of eternity with this pansy Ursula turned her man into Next time someone tries to kiss her man there lips getting ripped off!

“Give her some sausage. That will make her smile, or gag. Either way her mouth will have something to do. Lucifer ignored the crude thought. He was having such trouble with that nagging voice in his head. It kept trying to escape the pretty cage he’d put it in, and when it did manage to slip out, it suggested the vilest things.”

Man this is the book I have been waiting for. And Oh My F**king God it was just wow! I mean I really can’t say much more than that. But I am going to try. I have to confess my hubby kicked me out of the room while I was reading this. I just could not keep quite while I read this. I was either laughing my ass of or cursing at the book. Have to say it was one hell of a ride. (Pun intended) We have seen Lucifer match all these couples, and he says it is for the coming war. He’s just building up his army. And all this from a demon that ripped his heart out. Just to keep it safe. Now poor Gaia is at a loss as to what to do, even the infamous Nefertiti is out of things to try. But when they find the cause Gaia knows what has to be done they have to go on a quest, and she knows just the demons to help her. As we go we get glimpses of the real Lucifer still in there. And no matter what she tries she cannot seem to bring him out. No one touches his wench. And lately that is luc too. What will it take for Luc to come roaring Back? Well you’ll have to read the book to see how it all ends. Oh and one more hint you will know when it happens when the Duckies have horns again.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.

Okay, this was a great way to close out the original series! I got this audiobook on CD to listen in my car, but, I couldn’t wait until I needed to go drive somewhere, so I brought in the house so I could listen to it without interruption. I loved it, it had all the best parts about this series, love, evil, sin, fun, zaniness, craziness, over-the-top emotions, and a cast of characters you have come to expect the best from, with their best being what many other consider the worst. At the center, Lucifer and Gaia, and they drove so much of the action and the story, lol’ing occurred at their exploits, no matter what they were. Even that ending, classic moments for these two #LucAndGaiaForever!

I felt like every book as this series progressed just lost a little something. The first half of the book was kind of boring and there’s no chemistry between Gaia and Lucifer because he’s basically a different - and unappealing - person. I kind of wished somewhere to read how these two ended up together in the first place; it’s briefly mentioned in other books but would have been interesting to see (maybe in flashbacks) of how they got together, especially when she had dated God first.

It’s just disappointing because this book had such potential and it kind of fell flat for the most part - although the last few chapters were better with the old Lucifer and their banter.

One of the most entertaining authors of the genre. Eve Langlais is a master story teller. Her books are the stuff of whacky and wonderful. I could not stop giggling and literally laughing out loud. The thought of Lucifer in his hawaiian shirts makes my eyes water. I can never get enough of this lady's amazing books.

Lucifer getting married ? well yes, especially to Gaia. But that said, I think Eve was getting tired when she wrote this one. Lots of mayhem but each book seemed to me to be getting shorter and the storylines less imaginative. After all, how many times can you have killing and wars and?
Sorry Eve!

In this book Lucifer is not himself- rather he is a polite, politically correct version of himself, a chaste version! All of hell is in shock, the minions are becoming restless- with no strong leader no one wants to behave. The team come together to save their friend and Lord of Sin Lucifer before it's too late and the underworld is changed forever.

The premise sounded interesting and possible entertaining...but it did not live up to expectations.

I read it as a standalone. There are other books in the series, but it follows different couples for each book.

I'm impressed with myself. Finishing a 200 page book within 2 hours.

I really like Lucifer and Gaia together. and this one was a lot of fun!

Which is why I'm stopping this series on a high note. Too many lows in it for me and I really hate this kind of writing. I purchased all of the books to the Hell series (spanning 4 different Eve Langlais series) maybe I'll pick it up later but I'm not purchasing anymore books from this author.

I loved this! I loved that we didn't get a usual Lucifer in this book, this is a whole new Lucifer and Gaia steals the show for me on this one. I loved it!

I listened to the audio and I am LOVING Mindy Kennedy as a reader!
