My name is Blake Thomas. I used to think life was complicated, now it’s in a state of constant upheaval. Luckily, I have my men standing by my side. We are now operatives in a top-secret government facility hidden in the mountains. Once again, I’m learning how to adapt and overcome the obstacles thrown my way as we assimilate to our new environment and confront people that don’t realize that they need us more than we need them as we try to continue growing stronger to face Horatio. To make matter more difficult, our gifts are evolving in ways never heard of before.
I just wish there wasn’t a lot of characters ..it is hard to keep up with all of them and honestly they don’t add that much to the story ..plus why is everyone getting in everyone’s business? Like they want to know if she fucked her men and how and when and why are they fighting and how to make up..it is just a bit too much meddling for my taste and no respect for private time or personal space..I mean the girls are just too much all the time ..the MC didn’t even have time to get to know her men because so much of her time was spent with her gaggles of girlfriends and when she did have time it was just sex ..when is she going to build her relationships?
The best part for me was when they were in the cave..can you guess why? Exactly because they were finally ALONE together and they got to know stuff about each other ..
So my advice is please keep her interactions with other characters to a minimum if at all possible and let her build her relationships more IN PRIVATE for goodness sake And also stop adding so many characters to the story already because we really don’t give that much shit about all of them
I really want to give this book, this series, more stars because it is such a good story, but it lacks polish. I get it, having an editor is expensive. If you don't go the editor route, for whatever reason, take a little more time between each book (if you did use an editor fire them and find someone else for book 4, they really phoned it in on the second half). Set the book down and come back to it, a lot of the errors will jump out at you then. Don't try to do the editing all in one setting so you are burnt out, the further into the book you go the more the errors start to appear. It's distracting. . Do read the book through in one sitting to catch continuity errors like Blake promising repeatedly that Jaxson will be the first to do a particular thing but then you have someone else do it. Also the whole encounter with Drake and what he likes can really doesn't fit in with the trauma Blake has experienced in the past and especially shouldn't have gone down considering the time line and sequence of events in this book. If you really want to push that type of relationship you need to ease her into that and have those past traumas healed not freshly resurfaced. Some of the continuity of just editing errors like saying guy in one sentence and then guys in the next (coffee shop scene) or changing the gender of the person or persons being referenced. Use beta readers, fans will happily volunteer if you post a request on a the gifted connections Facebook group. (I haven't checked if there is a group, if there isn't one, make one). If you don't want to use betas, either friends and family or fans, at least sit and listen to the book with the text to speech function and you will catch some of this stuff. And one more big thing don't just space between paragraphs to delineate a scene change use ***** or something similar. You showed a definitive break within chapters a couple of times but there were so many times where I was reading went to the next paragraph and was like wtf, went back a paragraph to make sure I didn't accidentally change the page and realized no, we just changed locations or jumped forward in time without the appropriate signal. There is so much potential for this to be amazing just clean things up and you will have even more fans.
I’ve really enjoyed this series despite a few issues! We’re in a completely new setting in this book, and more characters get introduced. I’ll be honest, the amount of characters in this series that are constantly mentioned is exhausting. I forgot who half the people were and started to get her guys names jumbled up.
I think this series would’ve benefited from some extra POVs here and there. It would’ve been nice to be inside the guys’ heads from time to time.
I like Blake, though sometimes she may make some dumb decisions, I liked her reactions. After the incident in the laundry room, I thought her reaction to the guys had been normal 🤷🏻♀️ i would’ve reacted the same way but would’ve expected more groveling tbh. She kind of just forgives them without them really doing anything. I like her insecurities about having six guys, though I do wish it was touched upon more often. I think in book 4 her and Troy are talking and she mentions not being someone’s type and he kind of awkwardly skims over that and she’s left wondering if she isn’t one of her guys’ type. (Even though it does seem at times everyone is jealous of her or hitting on her.)
I mention that because while those details seem insignificant, I don’t feel like we get a ton of time working on the relationships and the small details of meshing together day to day. Meanwhile, we get long paragraphs of what each character is doing and what they’re cooking and how, etc.
Even if we don’t get tons of time with the guys individually, I do like them, at least the base of what we know about each of them. They do all mesh together, and even the endless side characters add something.
Like the previous books, this could do with a lot of editing. Heck, I even volunteer to do it because I enjoyed this series so much. Overall, it had a slight cliffhanger that kept me hooked and I enjoyed this book.
I'm sooooo addicted to this series. It's full of action and lots of twists and turns that keep me on the edge of my seat. This author is brilliant. The world she has created is AMAZING! I love Blake and the guys. I freaking adore all of the other awesome characters. I just know this next book will be amazing and even better than the last.
Have you ever wanted to know what happens so damn bad, but also wish someone else would write it? The concept for this series is fresh and interesting but the writing is juvenile and it doesn't seem as though the writer is improving with subsequent books. A great many reviewers have commented that a bit of 'post-production' work would turn this into a series to talk about. The consistent improper use of words, as if the author simply doesn't know any better; weirdly mis-gendered or inconsistent pronouns in sentences, paragraphs that I had to read over several times to sort out the mistakes and figure out what is happening... The continuity issues. The tepid sex scenes; frankly this was the most disappointing. The characters had chemistry but it seems the author shies away from the good stuff. Teased on occasion but never delivered. It goes too far for YA but not far enough for fans of NA or Adult. As a person who is way more willing to forgive novice writing if the sex scenes have some fire, I was sorely disappointed.
It also seems like the mean-girl, catty antagonist character in each book is exactly the same. The one in this book is supposed to be an an accomplished soldier. She acts like a 13 year old. All of these things could be caught by Beta readers and a good editing.
Focus less on the minutiae of each task and action and outfit. Edit that out. There should not be two pages of rumination between one characters comment and another's response. Further to that, try to be consistent with word usage. Don't be sophomoric in word choice in one sentence then drop an overly formal word-of-the-day in the next. "Imbibe", what 18 year old uses that word with a straight face? It was like being in 2010 and 1810 simultaneously. It was completely unnecessary and made sentences clunky and awkward. And don't get me started on the actual action and bad guy plot. This author needs to sit the hell down and watch Seal Team, at the very least, and do some research. I am so frustrated with this author's lack of growth in her skills and apparent ambivalence to feedback that I think I'm done. I won't be picking up the next book unless I have literally nothing else to read. You may be wondering why I have read through the third book in this series if it has so many problems... I think I hopes that it was going to get better and it totally could if the author took critique.
Two points for the awesome concept and main characters.
In all actuality the book (and series) really only deserves 3 stars. The plot tends to be confusing, adding too many people has added to that confusion among misspelled words that make no sense of how the word could be misspelled, phrases like hand in hand were used but wrongly (hand and hand) and when Blake first met "K"ade his name was Cade not Kade. Simple things that really could have been avoided. Those things are what is keeping this series from really meeting it's potential (along with a few other things). But I really am enjoying the story and am very eager to finish the series to know what is going on. Also ummmm how is Blake not pregnant by now? Before the time shift she start BC but then the time shift happened and she had no access to anything she had owned in her future/past. With Collin and Young eagle eyeing her she would never of been able to grab any more BC and technically in that time she had never even been on any. Yet after them reuniting there was only mention of one condom usage (with Noah in the last book) and no mentions of any doubts of BC or wanting get more and also no mention of "shark week" (which is ok but I mean most people that read these types of books are females....we notice the lack of period) even though there is no mention we assume that she has been having one...but she has also had loooots of lovely naughty time. So um yeah how is she not pregnant?
I enjoy it but I hate how many characters are introduced. I swear I dont know who is who. The heroine is popping relatives like bunnies and I'm like stop stop stop!!! No more introductionss pleaseee!! No more tragics backgrpundsss lets move on in the story itself, pages are wasted!
So many charcters were introduced that the nucleous group started saying I love you until the third book!!! I was like... but didnt they know that already...? And then I was like ohhh yeah that's right we barely see them interact because the author is busy introducing new characters... >:(!!!
*reads ending... throwsss phone through the window*
The first two books of this series weren't really good for me because they basically retold the same story changing some things. That being said I consider this one as being like the second book of the series.. I have to tell that I was afraid that the story would repet it self for a third time but I was so happy with what I saw during this book that I had to write a review! The story begin from the exact moment where book two ended and it really develops in this book. You can see the characters developing their relationship. I really love this book and need the next one lake yesterday even with the mispelling and wrong name of characters.
So, book 3 was even better than book 2! At this rate by book 5 I’m going to be hyperventilating!! This book was fantastic. Frustrating at times. Loads of action, chemistry, suspense and drama. Love where all of the relationships have gone. Ends on a gut twisting note. Downloaded book 4 immediately of course!
Still haven't forgiven the guys from 1st book really.. but then some of them go and they do this thing again where they hang out with OW (note: not cheating technically as they are just hanging) just cause they are angry at Blake, whilst she ofcourse gets attacked. Can she just get rid of most of these guys???

I’m not even sure how to address what happens in this book. I know I’m reading a paranormal/fantasy type book. But what? Is it make believe? Yes. Is it believable? Not even a little bit. So much doesn’t make believable sense. And that is the mark of a good author. They should be able to use the written word to make me forget that it’s fake. Engross me in the story so much that I forget that no one would actually say this or that. That does not happen here and if the series was complete I would skip to the end at this point.
The grammar is absolutely horrid. I really enjoy these books, but I feel like by the third book you should at least be able to have your subject and verb agree. I honestly want to give this book a 2 for the continuing grammatical issues along with the formatting where one scene ends and another begins and there is no indication so you are left confused for a moment, but I really do enjoy the story.
I struggled getting into this one. I beg of the author to PLEASE get an editor or a good beta team for content and grammar/spelling. The amount of errors is astounding. A lot of the descriptions are overkill and I often found myself skimming whole pages because I just want to read the actual story.
The idea here is a solid one, I am invested at this point to see where the story goes, but I had to give it three stars due to the above stated issues.
The story is really promising and has the potential to be great but it is so hard sometimes to look past the typos, grammar and other issues. I had to stop a few times to figure out what exactly was meant or how the sentence was to be interpreted. With a good editor this book had the potential to be magnificent!
I’ve really loved the first two books and growing relationship between Blake and her connections but I feel book 3 didn’t hit the mark. There were too many people in it and I’ll be honest it started being too many with 6 connections. Now I don’t have an issue with her having six people to connect with but I struggled to really think about who was who and how they were different. I honestly couldn’t remember if she had slept with all of them and some of their fights or disagreements just blurred between them.
The amount of siblings also got a bit out of hand and grew exponentially. Then suddenly you’re contending with new friends, new villains, surprise parents and relatives. There was too much going on and suddenly the focus on their relationship got lost in the wash of new people and plots. The relationship with Ella and her putting her sister first is just non existent. You barely even hear about Ella. Pops and Ella’s budding father/daughter relationship is silent.
Overall, Book 3 just lost the momentum and growth of the first two books. I’ll be honest, I feel the military base theme did them no favours and the move just doesn’t seem to serve a strong purpose in the storyline. Also, for a secret base, they seem to be off shopping and using their credit cards a lot. I’m sure the bad guys have tech people that could easily find them through their spending…. Just sayin…
And one last point. Sorry, I have to say it cos it’s killed me. Her brother was originally spelt Cade. Then in this book he’s Kade. That is all.

I really enjoyed this one. It didn’t give me the bad anxiety like the first 2 did in spots. Blake and her guys are sorta kidnapped/saved from their house blowing up from Horatio and they are living a new life in a mountain with others that are not gifted. They are working with them, training with them, socializing (somewhat). They have ups and downs. Poor Blake is almost raped and was accused she lied and she instigated it. It didn’t help the guys were peeved with her, not trusting her to know herself. There’s a few things I wasn’t happy with, the guys allowing girls to touch them, never sticking up for Blake when some mean girl or guy cuts her down. Trusting Blake when she said she could do something. They talk about communication being key to their relationship success but at the first sign of trouble, they bailed on her, and refused to see through her eyes how it was ok to hang out with non’s and the girls hanging off them. It broke me to see how heartbroken she was when she saw the girls constantly touching her guys while they were pissed at her. Blake is a push over when it comes to those situations and always seems to take the blame, never insisting they apologize for their behavior. I’m really glad she had Gavin in her corner. Can’t wait to read the next one.
This story just gets more interesting and intriguing as it goes along. I am truly loving the pace that naturally flows. An the way the Author has wrote the characters u can’t help but Accompany them on this amazing journey of discovery and danger.
***** 5 Star Reading Material I have read author S M Olivier’s work so I knew she is an incredible writer. I just was not expecting to be so absorbed into this unbelievable and creative story. The characters themselves add an endearing element to it that you just get more drawn in with every page.

I like the book , at this point in the story ,the characters, friendships, connections are growing and developing. Blake, her connections and other gifted people try not to use thier gifts in the presence of non gifted so that htey don't freak out .She again is met with the female attention her connections get and is busy in dealing with the wannabe girls in the facility while developing her skills for the next move from Horatio. Blake and some of her guys, with some friends were sent out on a mission ,which was a trap and lead to the death of Steven and revelation o Jace and jaxon's mother. The past was once again talked which brought hte knowledge about the experiments done by Blake's grandmother and saving her from fallin into wrong hands. Again a cliffhanger , where blake is poisened and is weak even after the removal of poison which leads to finding out about her seventh connection, which is almost opposed by everyone in the connection group.

Argh....I'm now going insane...I must have the next book NOW!!! If you've not read the others in this series PLEASE do not pass go...RUN to read the first book. This series would be very confusing had you not read them in order, but oh my goodness is it worth it! Talk about a crazy amount of action and suspense in this one...and lots of powers growing exponentially....and a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE shocker at the end!! I love how in this book all the siblings are finally able to truly bond as a family unit. Everyone has to get used to working with the "norms" in the new super secret underground facility...and to say there's tension among some is an understatement. However th gang soon proves NOT to underestimate them. I will say that this installment has a huge amount of surprises, and a number of reunions in store. All in all one check of an EXCITING read.
It took me two tries to finish this book. The first time I DNFed quite quickly as it did not catch my attention and I really struggled with it.
The second time I reread the first two books first and it really made a difference. Having said that, in my opinion this book still requires a rewrite. Mainly because, just like in previous books, there are a lot of mistakes that a good editor/beta team should have caught before publishing.
I really enjoyed the relationship building and the balancing of the connections. On the flipside, there were way too many characters and the plot itself did not interest me. I am more interested in relationship building so the whole action part was too much for me. Too many characters made the story confusing. I found it difficult to remember who was a non and who had what gift. So thus book was okay, but it could have been better.
I’m shocked! I’m Intrigued! I want to know what happens next! This book in the series has so much going on, I couldn’t stop reading until the last paragraph in the last chapter. SM Olivier has written an amazing, entertaining, enchanting story or a female warrior, Blake, and her 6 knights. I love all the characters! I love the storyline, truly nothing I’ve read compares to how exciting this story is…okay maybe that’s a bit over the top, but it’s an excellent story and I. Looking forward to book number 4. I must mention that there are a few, just a few, grammatically errors, but nothing takes away from this wonder story! I love it, and I am so happy that I found SM Olivier, she is a wonderful writer with exceptional imagination!
First off, let me say that I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books in this series so far. It’s a great story, and the author’s writing is excellent. That being said, whoever is editing this series needs to go back for a second look on all of them. There are some words that seem to have been used by mistake because of a misspelling that wouldn’t have been caught by spellcheck because it turns it into another word, and there were some grammatical errors — enough that it stuck in my mind and kept jarring me out of the story. If it weren’t for the editing, I would definitely have given this 5 stars.
Plot-wise, these books just keep getting better and better. However, I can't keep ignoring the numerous grammar mistakes, which is why it lost a star this time. I was hoping it was just a matter of new author/ editor, but it's getting annoying. I love the Finding Fate series by this author, which is why I started this series and that one doesn't have the mistakes this one does. I don't know if this series is way earlier, but they definitely should have been fixed by now. They are all the same kind of mistake, sigular vs. plural. Idk if my version hasn't been updated what. I will keep reading the series because the story is amazing, and I love the characters.
I would have given this 5 stars but at the end there got to be so many typos that it was hard to read. I felt the ending was rushed a little because there were a few times that the characters thoughts and actions jumped around. One minute Blake is in the living room with her guys and the next she is upstairs with all the girls. No explanation of how much time had passed. Don't get me wrong, I love Blake and her guys. This book just didn't seem as polished as the first two. WHAT A PLOT TWIST AT THE END!! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Definitely a step above the first two and i honestly didnt see how it could but it did! Definitely some twists i didnt see coming and loved every second. The growth of their relationships and the trials they went through in this book were definitely a step up than the last book. I cant wait to see how they all grow from the next trials they face. I loved the ups and down and the quiet moments in this book. I was glad there were calm moments as the rest was a whirlwind and i needed the breather lol cant wait to read the next book and see how it all concludes!
The editing is getting worse and worse, the plot is going off on a tangent, the descriptive writing is telling us in detail about MRE packs, 50% is a repetition of book 1 & 2 .......... What the heck is going on????
It was forgivable in book 2 because book 1 had potential now I'm just upset. What a waste of my time. The relationships are so stilted it's like they met yesterday. I'm closer to the lady at the corner shop.
This series has left a sour taste. If an author can't be bothered with their work why should we??? And are paying for this drivel.
