With the Dominion so divided that no easy peace can come, Amel is sent on a dire mission to find outside allies. But Amel doesn’t speak the language and her powerful allies are far away. Can she do the impossible on her own?
Sarah K. L. Wilson is a USA Today Bestselling author who writes fantasy stories featuring practical heroes & heroines in the most impractical circumstances. The last couple of books in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s Dragon School series have given us quite the high, and I was crossing my fingers the high would continue. After all, I’m addicted to the series, more than willing to dive straight into each new book. Although this thirteenth book was enjoyable, it wasn’t quite the high of the few prior books that left my heart pounding.
Dragon School: First Flight, book one, sucked me completely into the world – it was so much more than I’d expected, and I couldn’t wait to get more. Dragon School: Initiate, book two, sucked me in even deeper – it showed me there was more to the story than I’d originally thought, ensuring I would pick up the next. Dragon School: The Dark Prince, book three, was a very important book in the series – it may not have been my favourite book, but it was vital to the overall story. Dragon School: The Ruby Isles, book four, continues to move things forward in a wonderful way – it may not be my favourite of the stories, but it is another important addition. Dragon School: Sword, book five, was another brilliant read, adding more to the series – it was also the book that reminded me why I was following the series in the first place, pulling me back in after a short hiatus.
Dragon School: Dusk Covenant, book six, added plenty of new twists – more than enough to ensure I remained ensnared with the story. Dragon School: First Message, book seven, brought even more to the table – more was added to the storyline, plenty of things leaving me curious as to what would come next. Dragon School: Warring Promises, book eight, left on a serious cliff-hanger – all the books leave on a cliff-hanger, but this was probably the biggest of them all. Dragon School: Prince of Dragons, book nine, was probably my least favourite of the series, but it continued to move things forward for us.
Dragon School: Dark Night, book ten, was one of my favourites in the series, increasing the level of intensity and leaving us with so many expectations. Dragon School: Bright Hopes, book eleven, was a pivotal book in the series, giving us so many new twists and making so many promises for the future. Dragon School: Mark of Loyalty, book twelve, blew all the prior books out of the water, earning it the label as my favourite in the series. Dragon School: Dire Quests, book thirteen, therefore had a lot to live up to.
I think, coming after my favourite book in the series, Dragon School: Dire Quest was never going to blow my mind in the way I had hoped. Sure, I liked to believe I would receive another new favourite, but deep down I knew such would never be the case. Although this thirteenth book was enjoyable, it wasn’t quite all I had hoped it would be.
If I’m being completely honest, this was another book in the series where I rounded a three-point-five-star rating up. It contained action and drama, the characters we know and love, and it increased our knowledge of the world in a great way – but it did not have quite the same impact as some of the prior books. It gave us more, but at the same time it could have given more.
It’s certainly another pivotal read in the series – every book is, really – but it wasn’t all I had hoped for. Nevertheless, I’ll be diving into book fourteen as soon as I can.
A wonderful and adventurous tale for Amel and her wise dragon, Raolcan
In the previous book, Savette and Starie were asked by the Dragon Queen to compete in a challenge, which would determine who is the real Chosen One
When Starie was named the imposter, she sent out Ifrits, earthly creature that have terrorised Amel in her journeys, to kill them Savette, as the Chosen One, is able to hold them off, but she needs more allies, powerful friends to rely on. She sets out everyone their missions, Amel must find Savette's husband, Dark Prince Rak and ask him for assistance and find her allies
In her journey, Amel will meet a stranger, Renn, who is very witty and charismatic, yet has his own secrets he holds dearly A fellow Gold Dragon Rider, who's purpose is to negotiate with friends and enemies Will they be able to work together and cooperate to help win this war?
Such a tale this one was, full of mischief and wise words as well.
Another wonderful edition of Dragon School! We get to see more of the world that Sarah Wilson created, because she brings us to Baojang this installment. There's new people too, which is always good as well and the ending is breathtaking and amazing. One thing I liked less was that Amel is still too trusting. It might be a good, endearing character trait, but in the middle of a war, you risk making your character stupid because of it.
I have to say that out of all these books, this one had to have had the best and most hopeful ending. Savette sends her most trusted friends to scatter around the land to each fulfill an important mission. Amel and Raolcan are sent far off to a distant land to seek outside allies. While she is alone and scared, she stumbles along a war she never knew was taking place. Will she make it out unscathed? Overall, another great action packed book!
Dragon School: Dire Quest is the thirteenth book in the Dragon School series.
Another amazing book!! Truly, this series is a master piece!
In this book, everyone has a part and mission to play as the Lightbringers attempt to gather allies for the final war. Under orders from Savette, Amel flies off alone to Beijang to find Rakturan and inform him of all that has transpired. Using the map that her master has drawn for her, Amel flies long distances over the sea where she is eventually followd by a Golden dragon rider. Eventually, it is revealed that he a Lightbringer as well. However, even though he is one, this man does not believe in the prophecies or anything to do with the Lightbringer hopes and what not. Though, he isn't bad. He genuinely does se to wamt to change the world for the better, for everyone. Where rich, poor, disabled, etc can all live better lives in equality.
Soon, both Amel and her new companion reach Rakturan's country where they are suddenly ambushed. About to be killed by Ifreds and a new prince, Amel uses all her hopes and truths to bring the truth of the Lightbringers into the light. Temporarily with white glowing eyes, Amel frees them from their captivity, with new hope, light and truth restored with Rakturan too.
And thus, this is how the book ends. And I have to say I am so amazed by how good every single book is. The prophecies of the Lightbringers is so powerful, true, and good; I wish I had something as beautiful as it to believe in. Let me be a Lightbringer too you guys!!
Also, yeah; I would pay good money to buy a copy of the prophecies. The author really should release an official book with soley the prophecies in it. I mean how amazing would that be!!
I wish this series could never end! I can't believe how far in this series we have come! I will be so sad when it ends! In the meantime, I look forward to the next book, as always!

Coming home is always pleasant. You know when you start, that it's gonna be a great read and that you'll enjoy it from start to finish. And that's what this book felt like, what this entire series feels like. It's like coming home and I know for certain that whatever happens, the book will never disappoint. And that's nice, for a change.
What I really loved about this installment is the world building. We get to see a part of the world we haven't explored before, which means that we once again got a few pieces of the puzzle to build the map. A little part of the mythology is revealed in this installment and we meet new characters who might change and add to the game.
I have to admit that the ending, no matter how mind blowing it was, also made me question a few things. But I'm really curious to read more in the next books, which are already on my shelf luckily. What I did love about the ending was the fact that for once, after Raolcan saving Amel time and time again, it was the other way round.
This is part thirteen in the Dragon School serial, and picks up where the previous book left off. In this book Amel has so many new task that she has to do and not in the ways we are use to seeing. As always these books get better and better each time and make you dive deeper and deeper into Amel and Raolcan's world to where it is easy to imagine yourself there. I can not wait to see what happens in the next book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
I love the storyline and how much Amel and Raolcan have grown together and believe and trust in each other. Savette has sent her on a mission and at first she is worried as usual that she will not be able to complete this mission. As we have come to expect from these characters she manages in spectacular fashion. How she does it you’ll need to read the book to find out. Now I have to wait for the next episode in this amazing series of books. Enjoy. Highly recommend.
Amel is finally sent off on her own; though she doesn’t remain that way for long. She does spend quite a bit of time wallowing that she’s detached from her friends since they’ve all separated to conquer their own quests. It is refreshing though to have her meet a character again who isn’t cut and dry good/evil. For once she doesn’t have an infallible gut feeling about someone, and it adds to the mystery and intrigue of how the plot will play out. The new ally is unexpected and seems to swoop in to save the day, but start making sense as the story progresses.
Although Savette sends Amel away on a dire quest, this episode feels lighter again. I loved the funny jokes and banter with Raolcan and there are more golden smiles on the way. Hope is returning, even though it looks very dark in the end, Amel has a moment of light and she does it all on her own this time, no Raolcan to get her out. The truth is out there, let it shine!
*spoilers* Amel is off on her own with a legend for a map, told to her by Hubric, to make her way to Baojang to find Rakturan. While on her way she meets Renn a gold dragon rider. Amel is caught and taken to Rakturan, whom she had asked for, and is imprisoned with him in "Za’cazar, the Edge of the World" where Ifrits come from. Amel's belief in the Ibrenicus Prophecies let her summon trogs and save Raolcan and the others. I can't wait for book 14 it just keeps getting better and better
Amel and her friends have to separate again to get things accomplished. She isn't too happy about it, but Roalcan thinks of it as an adventure. Along the was she runs into Renn and his red, Ahummal. Things don't go exactly as planned, but she does find Rak and a lot of trouble. I can't wait for the next installment. I hope we see more of the Trogs and less of the Ifrits.
Another great addition to this series. Poor Amel I swear that girl always tries to do the right thing but it ends up biting her in the butt. Raolcan as always makes me laugh every time he talks. The team splits up in this book and each have an important role to play in this war. I can't wait to read more and see how this war ends.
Amel and Raolcan must go on a journey by themselves, as everyone else also had their own duty to perform. On the way they accidentally picked up another dragon rider, who may or may not be an ally. The journey was arduous and the result was not what they hoped for. They had no one to rely on, so had to help themselves. Would they live to fight another day?
I can't say enough how much i love this series. I am never disappointed when reading each new part! Amel continues to grow as a character. And her life is even more action packed. With so much that has happened She still remains loyal and true. I couldn't stop reading. Even after i finished. I already craved what will come next!
I've run out of superlatives to describe the writings of Sarah K.L. Wilson. Another amazing read in The Dragon School! I can’t wait for the next book to come out, although when completed I can see this being republished as an epic with each book being a chapter. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)
Another fantastic story. Amel and Raolcan and their comrades must separate. Each has a mission to fulfill. Amel and her Dragon are sent to find Prince Racturan in a foreign land. Can this mission be accomplished before disaster strikes? Another high flying adventure with a twist this time. A must read! I do love this serial series!!!
I have been intrigued by Sarah L. Wilson’s books and finely downloaded this one. It was not a disappointment. Her writing style is really good and the imagination she has makes her a great storyteller. A book full of magic and dragons is a good way to step away from reality into another world for a while and this did just that.
Amel and Raolcan are sent off on their mission by themselves. They do meet another rider and dragon on the way to their destination. It was great to get introduced yet another interesting character.
Once again Amel's story doesn't dissapoint. She and Her crew are running away after things That Starie did at The end of book 12. I can say That this turn of events was not expected but VERY welcome. In hard quests who is your friend and who is your enemy?
This series is just amazing. I had to read it finish, leaving everything, what i actually had to do. Amel is an amazing young lady, but coming always in trouble, normally Roalcan, her dragon is saving her. But this time, she is saving her dragon, Roalcan and saving the world.
I couldn't put this series down literally just kept reading until there weren't any more to read. The storyline is fascinating and intriguing. Great characters to follow.
Amazing! That is that this series is. At first I didn't like the style of this series, being put in "episodes". Now after reading 15 of them, I love it. This story is broken down into short parts and always leaving you wanting more
Amel and Raolcan have been sent on a task. Separated from friends and allies with danger all around them. This series just gets better and better.. do not miss out.
Another great episode. Full of awe and wonder. Evil magical creatures. When all seems lost there is always hope and faith . Plus the promise of better things to come. The series goes from strength to strength.
Another great episode in this amazing series! I love Raolcan's wit, he makes me smile even while wondering what is coming next for him and Amel. This series is a must read!
Amel is sent on a journey. just her dragon friend and then dragon eyes sight a possible enemy following behind. Then when all is darkest amel has to somehow bring her little light to shine, and blaze into an enemy routing brilliance.
I was intrigued by story-line, characters and dragon antics. Sarah writes a wonderful fantasy with dragons and gives her characters so much development, they feel like real people. Love the main character and how she over comes her handicap to strive and win.
Okay I read all 13 books in 5 days. They are really quick and fun reads. The dragon is funny and Amel is an unexpected heroine! Looking forward to the next book.
