Says Danko Jones, “After playing rock music for the last twenty-one years, I’ve found time to put away the guitar and write down some of my thoughts on music and my experiences of life in a touring band. This book is a collection of essays that, unlike the music I play, are lighthearted and playful. Nothing less than fierce fandom for rock was what made this book come to life.”
One of the more resilient Canadian rock musicians over the last 20 years, Danko Jones is also a talented writer, and this wonderful little collection of essays shows just how smart, charming, and hilarious a guy he is. He's also opinionated, and whether writing about heavy metal, Chinese food, smelly feet, shared bags of potato chips, or ridiculous fan letters to Ritchie Blackmore, Danko's passion is palpable, and more than a little infectious. However, he is never condescending, not for a moment, and that friendliness is this book's best quality. This was a joy to read.
A collection of columns and thought pieces from one of the loudest mouths in rock 'n' roll music: Danko Jones. A lot of hilarious opinions from a keen mind that read really smoothly and are really entertaining. Great read!
A deeper dive into Danko Jones’s world, and as a long time fan I enjoyed it. Some of the articles might not be worth your time, just skip ahead and read on. Danko’s voice has been living inside my head since my teenage years and it’s nice to get a clearer picture of who he is and what he thinks.
