BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
Have your Kleenex handy. This book is a emotional roller coaster. So much happens that it’s hard to say what it’s about without giving spoilers. Very heart wrenching. I even teared up several times reading it. Worth every penny!!!
Este libro es el que me ha gustado más de la saga. Hay muchos sentimientos, he llorado, reído, sentido…
Wow. Just wow. I thought the last one was exciting but things really heat up in this chapter of the story! I can’t say much or I’ll spoil it.....so you will just have to read it!
Overall this was a good read. These two sadly are having to go through a lot. I was a little disappointed by what the author decided to do with Caroline. With the ending being up in the air like that it will be interesting to see how their story ends. I just hope it ends well.
The lack of plot development, lack of character development and fantasy world of every one is Rich is ludicrous. I couldn't finish this and that is rare for me.
Unfortunately this series just kept getting worse. Rushed writing, multiple books that could have been put into one book, disappointing but predictable character choices. Tom kissing FMC without asking multiple times turns out to be a r*pist (shocker🙄, FMC should not have taken him back as a friend). MMC is very immature and in his feelings.
The whole relationship is rushed. The pregnancy trope is not for me. Blake being a menace and going crazy came out of nowhere for a guy with a bunch of money. From the writing the author implied he didn’t care about actually getting ceo of OWL but when he gets fired he’s crashing out?
Not to mention Caroline’s poorly written death in this book (unnecessary for her to die). Then MMC getting shot and falling into a coma? This reads like a juvenile Wattpad book, unfortunately.
I think the concept in book 1 was good. But things moved wayyy too fast and the author got carried away with just getting sequel after sequel out instead of exacerbating the chemistry between the characters. There wasn’t any tension. There wasn’t any burning desire.
The relationship moved way too quickly.
Random marriage proposals?
What do MMC and FMC even know about each other on a day to day basis? Her writing a book about a famous man and his auction after it just happened and doing a poor job of censoring it (Ella Montgomery? Girl, we know you writing your own experience, of course the sleazy press are going to run with it, especially after you are spotted dating MMC)!
And running your big mouth telling Tom about the party and the auction - I suspect it was him who went to the press, him or Blake, but I honestly zoned out so I don’t even know if this was revealed yet.
And FMC wrapped up in two cases of r*pist men? I’m worried in the next book it will become a whole thing about her not being a credible witness. I didn’t enjoy these books up to this one, unfortunately. But I will still be taking advantage of them being in kindle unlimited and still read because author has achieved something incredible by writing a book. However, I can’t lie and say I enjoyed it.
This could have been something much more if author had just taken the time to build up the relationship, so that moment when they finally do decide to explore their feelings about each other, the readers are excited.

i read this book as part of an arc program. In this book, Aiden and Ellie decide to go on a vacation to the Caribbean and Aiden wants to bring Mr. Black back and have Ellie sign a contract to be his. Ellie is unsure about leaving Caroline because she still isn't talking about Tom attacking her, but Caroline tells her to go and enjoy herself. When Ellie and Aiden get to the Caribbean, they start to reconnect. Ellie starts to think about having charges brought against Blake and Aiden's PR team and lawyers advise them to return to New York to meet with the police. When they return, things are not what they expected and the couple once again are faced with things that could tear them apart. Ellie has just found out she is pregnant and has had a fight with Aiden about him bringing Caroline's suicide note to the DA. Aiden knows Ellie is just having a hard time with her best friend's death, but he is frustrated with her being angry with him. Ellie find out she is pregnant and doesn't know how to deal with the news. Ellie continues to keep Aiden away until she comes to terms with things. Ellie also has a surprise visit from her sister Brie, who brings some news of her own. Aiden also faces more problems with Blake. This series is amazing, I don't know what will happen next with them, I can't wait for the next book!
I don't even know where to start. I never leave bad reviews. If I don't like a book I just walk away. These books are beyond horrible. They drag on forever, extremely repetive and the timing of things do not line up. The MMC is just immature and split personality. The FMC is a horrible friend and completely selfish. I mean her best friend's life completely changes and she runs off with her boyfriend that just broke up with her? That makes perfect sense. The author goes into excruciating detail about kindle unlimited works and how little an author gets paid. Lastly, the straw the broke the camels back, heads up it is a spoiler, the FMC decides she wants to go the easy way to have the baby and decides to have a c-section. I have had 2 c-sections and there is nothing easy about having one. The recovery is much longer. They way she described how it's no big deal to have one made me sick to my stomach. Best advice I can give anyone? Find a different series. This one isn't worth it.
Another hit for Ms. Byrd. A very well written tale that compels the reader to keep going to the end. This story in the series finds much sadness and how to recover from the depths of despair. Questions are raised over a certain point of what is ethically and morally the correct thing to do in a certain situation. Changes in a person's life, albeit contemplating marriage, an unplanned pregnancy, extreme sickness or life altering changes in a person, all these issues were faced by the two main male and female characters while still trying to carry on their turbulent romance ... and then, the zinger ... a spine chilling cliff hanger ... oh no ... next installment, please and thank you.
Highly entertaining read.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to the author.
This is the fourth book in the Black Edge series and it packs a punch. It is not a standalone. This continues Ellie and Aiden’s story and what a story it is. When the book begins, Ellie and Aiden are not in the best place with their relationship. Aiden has issues with believing that he is deserving of a woman like Ellie and she struggles with his behavior and trust issues. The storyline is filled with drama, suspense and angst with a cliffhanger ending that just leaves your tongue wagging and begging for more. There are times when you want to scream but throughout it all you cannot just help but root for this couple and everything they are going through because you want to see them win against all the obstacles they are facing. Oh, lest I forget to mention the inclusion of heat and steam that will have you melting. I volunteered to read an arc of this story.
The story is on fire now between Aiden and Ellie. This story keeps getting better and better as time pasts. Aiden broke their engagement and he thought Ellie was giving him bad luck because he lost his company. Caroline ends her live and the D.A. i n Maine wanted to end the trial for Tom ,but Ellie has a letter from Caroline tell why she took her life. So that is continuing. The company who fired Aiden from his job as CEO decided to reinstate him. They fired Blake. Ellie has decided to move forward and press charges about what Blake did on the yacht. Aiden decides to ask Ellie to marry him once again. This story is a real page turner. Exciting to read. This author has a outstanding books, enjoy read her romantic stories. Can't wait to find out what happens next in the last book of the series. ENJOY!!!!
The fourth installment of the "Black Edge Series" - Ellie Rhodes and Aiden Black's story.
Note: This is part 4 of the Black Series. -------------------- Main Characters: Ellie Rhodes, aspiring (self publishing) writer & ex-fiance; Aiden Black, tech billionaire & ex-fiance.
Story Overview: Black Contract picks up where Black Bounds left off...
Ellie sees Aiden out with another woman and concludes he's moved on. It's too much to take; But they work through it and try to make their relationship work again - they take a break from it all and head off on Aiden's super yacht; They spend fabulous days in the sun together enjoying each other, Aiden's not working and is carefree while Ellie continues to write... it all seems like bliss until Ellie decides to file a police report against the man who attempted to assault her on Aiden's yacht.
They return to the States for Ellie to make the complaint; but what was to be just a short trip turns out longer as Ellie is plunged into pain when her friend dies. She's thrown into darkness and only Mr Black can help her come back from the darkness.
For a brief moment all is ok... but Ellie gets another surprise, one she wasn't expecting but with her relationship with Aiden on rocky ground she's unsure if she should share it with him. Not only is she going through personal drama, but her family adds to that...
Finally she's able to share her surprise with Aiden, and his reaction takes her by surprise. Aiden and Ellie go through a period of happiness before it's all brought down with an incident that puts Aiden in hospital.
And then cliff hanger ending when Ellie stops by her apartment...
-------------------- Concluding Thoughts: This was another middle of the road read for me. Still too much drama... way too much drama. Too much happening in such a short time. It's like they never have a breather... but on to the next one I go.
"Black Contract" by Charlotte Byrd is the fourth installment in the Black Edge series, and I'm still invested in Ellie and Aiden's story despite some reservations. While there are moments that captivate me, I find myself skipping over sections that feel like unnecessary fluff. The characters' wishy-washy behavior can be frustrating, and I sometimes struggle to understand their motivations. The title "Black Contract" also feels misleading, as it's barely explored in the book. However, the twist that unfolds has piqued my interest, and I'm holding out hope that the final book will deliver more substance. I've rated this book 3.5 stars, based on my personal reading experience and opinions. 🤓
Another great installment to the continuing story of Ellie and Aiden. There's a lot going on in this book. The author brings strong characters and weave a story so engrossing I couldn't put it down. She brings drama, hot steamy scenes, twists and turns and so many emotions I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and had me hooked from start to finish. It is another cliffhanger so I'll be waiting anxiously for the next book. Highly recommend.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Black Contract is such a meaty book. It has so much going on with all its characters that you need to have tissues nearby. Ellie and Aiden are thrown into a dizzying array of emotions and experiences that take them as far as the Caribbean. The storyline is very well written and the characters just grab you and you can't let go. If you haven't started the series, please do before starting this. You won't be disappointed. (Note: I was provided an Advanced Review Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
Wow, what a roller coaster of a story! As usual, Charlotte Byrd delivers a top notch sexy read full of shock and suspense. The 4th Book in the series revolving around Aiden and Ellie follows their abrupt breakup and the aftermath of an attack on Ellie's best friend Caroline by someone they had considered a friend. It explores the turmoil that assault can cause to the victim and all those that love them, and the strain that it puts on the relationships of everyone involved. Will Ellie and Aiden make it through unscathed?
I received a copy of this book for the purpose of a review.
Omg Charlotte your cliffhanger has me so excited for the next book! Ok this book has so much happening that I had to just put the kettle on to getting everything I had just read in to order. You make me laugh, smile cheer and cry. Aiden and Ellie have so much to get through and in this book to get to see there strengths and weaknesses. I really could talk for hours about this book but I don’t want to give any story lines away. This series is super addictive. An easy 5 star rating. Can’t wait for Black Limit. I received an ARC and now I leave my honest review
I loved this whole series so far its captivating gripping and one you just can't wait to see what happens since recd as ARC do not want to spoil but I do advise you to start with black tease and read in order to get full, story line. Love Charoltte byrd her work is terrific and you can't put down books once you start. So what are you waiting for go get them find out Mr black aka Aiden and Ellie story you too will, love them
As we continue Aiden and Ellie's story... They go on a trip to the Caribbean to get away for awhile. But important matters take them back to New York. They have to make sure Tom doesn't get away with what he did to Caroline. Ellie has to decide if she is pressing charges against Blake. This book was very emotional, full of suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat. Make sure you read this series You will love it. I voluntarily reviewed advanced copy of this book. ❤🍵💋
Another great installment in the series, i reread the first three so everything was fresh. Aiden wanting to bring Mr Black and having Elle sign a contract and go on vacation to the Caribbean. With drama and twists and turns and Aiden giving something to DA that angers Elle, all whike the power struggle with Blake continues I was again on the edge if my seat ending in another cliffhanger. A great series I cant wait for more. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Thank you ,Charlotte Byrd, for writing The Black Series. From the first page of the first book in the series, I knew that I had to but all of the books in the series. This is the first time that I have written an evaluation of your books, because I couldn't wait to read the next. Each book get 5 stars. You must have your own personal muse!! Getting ready to but the 5th and final book in this series! So excited!!
The Author is too repetitive. The story itself might have had great potential but the writing seriously lacked. Juvenile. Is this an adult fiction? The main character is a dim witted air head. Wish I had not wasted my money to purchase. I took the leap based on all the famous reviews and my passion for reading. I think a debit was called in for payment to get those high reviews posted. I couldn’t even finish the series it was so bad.
This one has so much more drama in, yes I knew something was going to happen (due to another review) but I was greatly surprised that it has so many more twists, the whole book seems to have had a massive amount of change with the writer, her style seems to have changed into something that’s not so similar and I’m so ready to read book 5 I actually can’t wait, a much better book in this series.
Black Contract is the 4th book in the Black Edge series. It is a great series. I love picking up any Charlotte Byrd novel and not being able to put it down. Ellie and Aiden are certainly in the middle of a lot of drama unfolding at once. I am very anxious to read the next book in the series to see how it all unfolds. There is no shortage of heartbreak in this book. Anybody reading this series will need lots of tissues and wine.
Aiden and Ellie continue to build their relationship which is forged in fire. We are given more insight into Brie’s sisters character who turns out to be quite fearsome. Ms. Byrd took us on her usual wild ride and left us hanging on the edge of the cliff as we await the next installment in the series.
It's a Rollercoaster ride for Aiden and Ellie, from happy to sad times, from sad to happy moments and just when you think it's going to work out for them and having their HEA something bad happens... Certainly a story that keeps you interested until the next book... Can't wait for the last installment
