Steele was the second book in the Daring the Kane brothers series by Kelly Gendron.
Jaylyn Rigsby was beautiful and fierce. She worked for the insurance company that insured Hollywood stunt men and her job was to keep them safe. Enter Steele Kane.
Steele was one of six siblings, all brothers except one sister. And they were all gorgeous, sexy, humorous, came with tons of baggage and had a huge bond of loyalty to family. And good lord was Steele sexy! Oh yeah, I already said that!
Steele and Jaylyn had immediate sparks but she was determined to remain professional and keep Steele at a distance. Gendron detailed their introduction, push and pull relationship and budding friendship. Simultaneously she unveiled their secrets, which they both had in abundance. Ultimately, the storyline unraveled a journey of friendship, healing, acceptance and moving forward.
All in all, it was a quick and enjoyable read. I wanted a little more of them as a couple at the end, but hopefully we’ll see more development in future books. Additionally, I loved the Kane siblings. They were a tight, caring group and I looked forward to more! Crash is up next but I totally can’t wait for Stone!

Steele meets his match when feisty, uptight Jaylynn walks onto his set and into his life. She's the woman come to approve (or not) his stunts, and her attitude immediately challenges both his control and his libido. Will he ever scale her walls? Get her to open up to the possibilities of pleasure that await them? And what about when feelings start becoming involved...
Steele is a complicated character, and his story is just as complicated. He has a horrific past and it's made him controlling in all aspects of his life. It's also made him wary of love with the exception of his family. Nowhere did the possibility of love with the woman who drives him mad ever come into his way of thinking.
Jaylyn too is a complicated character. She is grieving and has a rough a past as Steele does. Their chemistry is hot but honestly she was hard for me to connect to. Her many, many walls, and her bitchy attitude were hard for me to get beyond. Don't get me wrong, I understood why she was that way, I just didn't particularly like her even though I sympathized with her.
Aside from her, though, I really liked this story. It's super steamy, it's fast paced and has layers and layers to unwrap. I've been loving this Kane brothers series and cannot wait for Crash's story!

What a complicated story!!!! What a glorious day of entertainment it gave me. I am so happy that I had a good block of time so that I could devour every last amazing page.
Steele has real substance. He is a complicated character. He has a lot of emotional baggage that adds to his story and gives a bit of insight into the Kane family. Even better it has me gnawing my nails wanting MORE, MORE, MORE.
Steele doesn't believe he can love or be loved. His past blocks his future. He is alone except for his family. Then he meet Jaylyn. He thinks he is immune. He is wrong.
Jay doesn't think much of Steele's career choice. Her past keeps her apart emotionally only keeping him safe from himself. She doesn't love. She can't love. She doesn't believe she deserves it. She is wrong.
Come along on a wonderful journey of discovery. Learn that love cannot be controlled or rejected. Join me as I wait for Crash's past to be revealed. Because Token and Steele are just the beginning. I dare you to fall in love with the Kane Brothers.

I loved reading about the Kane brothers again. I loved Steele. Jaylyn, while being a strong heroine, also shows some vulnerability. I liked how Steele was with Jaylyn. Both of their pasts keep them from wanting to get emotionally involved. I enjoyed the pace of the story and the flow. I thought the ending was perfect and I can’t wait to read Crash’s story.

Steele is a "love and leave them" type of guy. He has past issues that makes him believe that love is not an option for him and his job makes him believe that a relationship is not an option either. Then there is Jaylyn, She is grieving and her grief has shut her down to love and relationships. She has so many walls up, and those walls has her coming off as crass. I found their story to be complicated, there were so many things that they needed to work through. They were both so closed off they needed to find a way to open up to the other. This story was great insight into a world that is unfamiliar to me. I found it entertaining and a good read. This story is proof that when love finds you it does not matter if you are ready or not.

Steele is a stuntman and way good at his job but now Jay is there to make sure his stunts are not to dangerous, she is drawn to Steele but her past is not letting her go .

Ms Gendron has our attention with the Kane brothers. Steele is a daring stuntman who is good at his job. He works hard to be one of the best in the business and that includes the proper head space a stunt requires. One thing he is not so good at is giving up or defeat. When his Insurance Company send Jaylyn to watch over him and decide it certain stunts should be covered he is immediately drawn to her. But it is clear that she has some pretty strong walls to battle down first. This battle is something that is not normally up his ally.
Jaylyn does a good job at keeping her life and emotions packed in neat little boxes. If you keep it all closed up you can even pretend it never happened, right? Well maybe not but it helps to keep her focused on the current task, and that is keeping any other stuntman from a tragic loss. In the past 3 years she has kept herself a distant closed book to all. Will the feelings that she has when Mr. Kane is around, open a box or two?
Will this be a quick fun challenge as he suggests? Or will hearts get involved no matter how hard they try? Will the past block the future or is there away around this roadblock?
I enjoyed these characters and the depth of the emotions that are brought out in this one. I am also looking forward to some more of the Kane brothers.

This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you read Token's book first, as it does help set the family scene. It also gives you a different perspective of their background. Expect the prologue to really catch you out.
Steele is a man who never gets involved with anyone - his past has defined his decisions on that score. And as he is a stuntman, he thinks any woman is probably off not getting two involved, as it is undoubtedly dangerous. So when he meets the latest person the insurance company has sent to determine whether the stunts are too dangerous or not, he is annoyed at the attraction he feels for her.
Jaylynn is furious that she has been sent to LA and is on a film set to control the actions of a stuntman. She brooks no nonsense and keeps her distance. But she cannot deny that she is strongly affected by Steele.
I love how this story plays out, and be prepared for some clever twists which definitely elevate this to a really clever, and intense romance, with a very satisfying resolution and HEA.

Kelly Gendron has an amazing talent at writing amazing, sexy, beautifully flawed alpha men!! The Kane brothers are no different.
Steele’s a stunt double. He lives and breathes his jobs. Steele practices stunts over and over until he gets it right before he’ll do it in front of the camera. Other men in his profession haven’t had the best luck. Some guys can’t work anymore from injury and some have lost their lives. Steele doesn’t plan on being one of them.
Steele couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the beautiful women and ready to play when she shuts him down instantly. Then, he gets called into a meeting to meet the guy his insurance company sent to babysit him. It’s none other then the beautiful woman who wants nothing to do with him. Steele knows the next few weeks are going to be fun.
Jaylyn takes her job seriously. Another stuntman won’t loose his life if she has anything to say about it. But, Steele Kane made her feel something she hasn’t felt in three years and she knows she must stay away from him.
But, he makes it difficult. When he does what she tells him to do it backfires on her. Her job thinks she can tame him and she’s to follow him until the jobs done. Jaylyn let’s Steele know she hasn’t been with anybody since her fiancé’s death. Steele lets her know he’s unlovable and to use him. Use him to get back on the horse again.
Jaylyn isn’t sure it’s possible that Steele’s unlovable and if she even deserves a second chance after what she did. Steele can tell himself all day and night that what him and Jay have is temporary and that he doesn’t deserve to be loved. But, the more time he’s around her the more questions he’s asking. Particularly how to keep her.
Both Jaylyn and Steele had circumstances that made them think they didn’t deserve love. Which is farthest from the truth. They’re barely living. Faking it everyday. Until they meet and their hearts start to melt the darkness off and let the light in.
I read this in one day. I couldn’t put it down!!! I’m so in love with the Kane brothers it’s unreal. After the last 5 sentences I need Crash’s story. And, I need it STAT!!!

This is so much more than I expected! A smart, sexy, slow-build romance with mature characters that are beautifully crafted with depth and personality. The writing is superb, thoughtful and quality. I didn't read the first book but I will because this one about daredevil Steele is fantastic. What a hunk! I love his profession and the natural entrance of his love interest into his life. No forcing together of our couple. He's patient in his wooing of Jaylyn and even though he says it's all about sex Steele puts way too much thought into his pursuit. I love a thinking man. Jay is a strong, smart heroine with tragedy in her past and she's cautious in her dealings with men especially in Steele's line of work. There are a lot of emotional and challenging issues to resolve on both sides but the attraction between the two is too strong to walk away from. They are so sexy together and they bring the heat. This is a beautiful journey to love that as a reader I was glad to be along for the ride. Just fabulous! A shout out to the rest of the sexy Kane brothers. Can't wait for their stories. 4.5 stars

Those Kane brothers....*sigh*....
This is Steele’s story, the man of Steel immuned to love until Jaylyn walks into his life. What a very complicated man, whom controls every aspect of his work and life and yes even in his sex life too. Even when his advances are stoned walled by Jaylyn, no matter he is determined and shows what a patient man he can be.
Jaylyn has her own complications she has had to endure and deal with, add to it now fighting her immediate attraction to Steele. Nor does Steele make it easy for her too.
Can they get through this without falling in love, with their wounded hearts intact?
As the story progresses and each of their wounded hearts and complications are revealed you are given a rollercoaster of emotions to ride right up until the end, as you are pulling for them to get their well deserved and needed Happy Ending.....but will they?
I really enjoyed The Kane Brother’s 2nd book!! Everyone needs some Steele in their life lol. Looking forward to the next Kane story.... hoping it comes crashing in real soon and not as long of a wait *wink*.

Loved this story.
I can only imagine what it was like for Stone and Steele concerning what they went through with their birth mother. I can only imagine the nightmare that their father must of felt.
Steele was pure sex on legs. He was a stunt man but did not have plan falling for any woman. It is pretty sad knowing that he kept his heart so guarded but I guess this is what made him perfect for Jay.
My heart broke as piece by piece Jay’s story came out. She suffered so much pain more then you can possible know. Not only did she live with pain of loss but she lived with guilt. To hold up as well as she did showed what a strong woman she truly was. I admire that in her.
I loved the chemistry between Steele and Jay. I loved that these two needed each other more then either one of them even known.
I loved the closeness of the brothers. I think their closeness is what makes this story so great. They are protective of each other and will go to bat for each other.
This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read the book. So can not wait for the next book.

My heart broke as piece by piece Jay’s story came out. She suffered so much pain more then you can possible know. Not only did she live with pain of loss but she lived with guilt. To hold up as well as she did showed what a strong woman she truly was. I admire that in her.
I loved the chemistry between Steele and Jay. I loved that these two needed each other more then either one of them even known.
I loved the closeness of the brothers. I think their closeness is what makes this story so great. They are protective of each other and will go to bat for each other.
This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read the book. So can not wait for the next book.

Kelly Gendron is a new to me author that I will continue getting to know, as I really enjoyed Steele. Steele Kane decided that he will never have a relationship or love, but he never sees Jaylyn Rigsby coming. She's the person that the insurance company sent to see what stunts he does, and whether they're too dangerous. She too, refuses anything to do with love now, but that doesn't stop Steele from pursuing her for some friends with benefits. I absolutely LOVED Steele, because even though he portrayed a simple man to everyone, he was filled with complicated layers from his past. I had a harder time imprinting on Jaylyn though, not sure why, but by the end, I understood her much better. They did have some serious chemistry that led to lighting the sheets on fire during sexy times. And the Kane brothers made up a fantastic cast of secondaries, and who I couldn't get enough of. So there was a lot of laughter, angst to squeeze my heart, and twists that let loose the f-bombs. I'm very excited to read more by this author, and CANNOT WAIT for Crash's story! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has secrets, laughs, naughty fun, panty melting alpha, and heartbreak.

Both of them have lived through some very harrowing experiences, those experiences have molded them into what they are now.
One of the Kane brothers refers to him as the Man of Steele, and Jaylyn being his Kryptonite, and I realized how fitting that is for their relationship. Kelly Gendron did an amazing job with their storyline, I could feel their despair, I could feel the losses they’ve been through. And at the same time, I could feel how they were falling in love.
You will want to read Steele’s story, as it contains one very strong and opioniated lady, and an even more opiniated hero, who is also very patient with is lady, just biding his time when he can pounce and grab her heart.

I was looking forward to reading Steele and it intrigued me from the beginning. I keep expecting for Daring the Kane Brothers to have that same type of suspense as Breaking the Declan Brothers and it keeps surprising me when there isn’t. Steele and Token have been great without that aspect though, they’ve just been a different side of Kelly Gendron for me. And I really liked Steele, it tugged on my heartstrings a little and was a nice little addition to the series.
I definitely liked Steele more than Token and it was easy for me connect to the story. It was an enjoyable read with tension, banter, and challenges. I loved Steele and Jaylyn and I’m glad they were able to come together. Steele put a smile on my face all throughout the book and especially at the end. The chemistry and connection are wonderful between Steele and Jaylyn. There are secrets in both of their lives that they seem to be connecting to but when the secrets are revealed, will it push them apart? Or bring them together? Can a man who believes he is unlovable find love? Steele Kane had a rough start in life. It had a lasting effect on him. When he meets Jaylyn Rigsby he is instantly attracted to her. Jay has her own issues and fights Kane until she can't. He is charming and stubborn. Nothing gets in his way. However, he is patient but a little pushy. Bribery and blackmail in the fun sense will give Jaylyn an excuse to give in. Neither wants to fall in love. Steele promises that they won't. Famous last words. This story is sexy with some emotion. You will fall in love with Steele just like Jay. Jay gets her second chance at love and more. The characters are likable along with the supporting characters. Love these brothers.

Steele is book 2 in the Daring the Kane Brother’s Series; a successful Hollywood stuntman he is doing reckless stunts but not without caution.
When the insurance company sends a loss-control expert to set he is taken back, Jaylyn is gorgeous and will not give him the time of day; with a wedding ring on her finger he backs away. When they are put in each other’s paths again they can’t find the attraction they have. Jaylyn has some very high walls that she puts up for a reason and Steele is determined to break them all down.
I enjoyed reading this story, Jaylyn’s character was harsh at times but when everything played out and you find out why you understand everything.
I can’t wait to get my hands on Crash and find out the story behind his secret.

Steele my heart. Oh what an amazing read. I love this author. She has such an amazing way of sucking you into a story. I fell in love with Declan Brothers and now I am falling in love with the Kane's. The chemistry between Lane and Jaylen is just amazing. Jaylen is still trying to over her loss. Lane is a man who thinks he is unloveable. Both are very strong individuals. I love the way the brother stick together like family should. Kelly does an amazing job of bringing it all together in a wonderfully writing story that keeps you wanting more. Keeps you from wanting to put the book down. You want to ready if from start to finish. What a wonderful author and an amazing storyling. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is the second book in the Daring the Kane Brothers series and it is a great read. I love to read all about a man that is buttoned to the top with control in his life and have him meet a woman that forces him to work for her affections and test his patience and control. This book is Steele and Jaylyn's story and it is a really good one. I found myself drawn into the book and its characters as well as set on a roller coaster of emotions and thoughts as I read this. I also love that we get to learn more about these Kane brothers as a whole which gives you that much more insight as to why these amazing men are they the way they are. Anxiously awaiting book 3.

Steele is a professional stunt double and is willing to take some crazy risks. Jaylyn is employed by the insurance company who covers him during his current film. Jay doesn't take risks and isn't impressed with the man she is insuring even if sparks fly. Will Steele figure this ultimate stunt out and make it work or will he crash and burn?
I have fallen so in love with all the Kane brothers and the women who are tough enough to handle them. Kelly Gendron has given each character so much depth and made them so real. Steele and Jay have been broken before and you can't help but hope they can help each other heal. Each book leaves you with a little cliffhanger that is resolved in the next brother's story. Can't wait to jump into book 3.

I loved Steele, a great, slow romance. Steele himself was a wonderful character, cheeky, a little arrogant, full of confidence but truly a nice guy. Jaylyn was a strong women who did everything with determination, but she also had a vulnerable side.
And they’d both had difficulties in their past that kept them from wanting any serious relationships. For Steele sex with out love was fine with him, for Jaylyn complete abstinence works best.
This was a well developed story, the pace was good and I loved the characters and their banter. The secondary characters were also great, ma was a dynamite. And I’m definitely excited to hear Crash’s story is next, I can’t wait!

This was my first book by this author and the second in the Daring the Kane Brothers. This book can standalone but I definitely will be reading book one as I feel for these brothers. Steele Lane is a stuntman and a very very complicate man. He past keeps his future locked down believing himself unlovable he controls everything. But when the insurance company send Jaylyn he falls but still believes he controls the fire between them. Jay isn't a big fan of Steele even though she can feel the sparks between with her own emotional story she two doesn't do love thinking she can't be loved. But these two couldn't be more wrong! The emotional ride this book took me on was a beautiful one!

Steele & Jay are convinced that too much pain comes with love. And embarking on a no-strings arrangement would protect their hearts. The two of them realise soon enough, however, that love is patient, waiting until you've healed to fully appreciate it, and it never quite works how you want it to.
I enjoyed this book, and was sorry I couldn't get just a little more of Steele & Jay. I liked the way that the author introduced Crash's story. I can't wait for that one!
