Nothing like this ever happens to me…until it does.
Skye Devereux I believe in soulmates, happily ever after, and love at first sight. Even if it only happens in the romance novels I read. But in real life, I’m the ugly duckling to my sister’s swan. The nerd to her popular girl. The one who’s easily forgotten and overlooked. And that’s okay. I don’t mind. Or at least it didn’t until him… Logan Cole. The police officer I met during the most embarrassing moment of my life.
Logan Cole I don’t believe in relationships, happily ever after or love. In my experience, dating is a game. Use or be used. I have always been the latter. No more. I’m done playing the fool. I won’t fall for a pretty face or nice words ever again. Not even if it comes in the form of Skye Devereux, the shy girl standing nearly naked in the headlights of my police cruiser.
Why then am I watching her to make sure she get home safe? And why can’t I get her off my mind?
My love affair with books started at a very early age. I was already an avid reader at five and I remember reading everything I could put my little hands on. It did not change as I grew older and my love affair became my obsession. I used to sneak my mom’s books that were in no way appropriated for my age and spent countless hours at the library and Barnes & Nobles. While most parents tell their kids to read, mine told me to stop reading because it was all I did. I’ve been writing as long as I can remember but up to now, I have been a closet writer. Well, it is about time I left the closet. I have degrees in Communications and Computer Science but left all that behind a few years ago to dedicate myself to my family and my children and in doing so, I found the time to write again. Life is Good.
One of the sweetest most heartwarming books I’ve read this year! Because of Logan packs enough swoony goodness to have even the coldest of hearts melting within minutes. I can’t count the number of times I paused while reading just to savor the way I felt as Logan and Skye fell so hard for each other. It was pure bliss! I was astounded by how much and how quickly I loved these characters. Every page I found more to love. Whether it was Skye’s innocent and open heart or Logan’s beautifully romantic gestures. Every moment was just filled with such sweet warm and fuzzy feelings. Spending most of her life in her twin sister’s shadow, Skye has decided she’ll always be less. Her lack of confidence is something that would normally bother me but her personality is so genuine and despite the way she’s blind to her own self worth she’s comfortable in her skin. Down to earth, shy, and having such a kind heart I found myself immediately liking her. Logan has his own demons from his past. Growing up in a family that Love was never a part of, he doesn’t know what hit him the moment he first sees Skye. The romance between them starts off with the kind of magnetic pull and immediate chemistry that is impossible to deny yet still remains unbelievably sweet. I couldn’t get enough of these two together!
So I think the main thing that I didn’t like was Skye’s twin, River. She was just loud and obnoxious and I didn’t care for her. I’ll be coming back for future books though.
I predict that the next book will be Skye’s twin and Logan’s brother. Which will be nice to see. I was dying for some Liam in this.
DNF because the book was making my heart ache. I felt like the attraction between the two was too rushed and unrealistic--they practically had a hard on for each other the moment they met. Literally. The heroine was aroused the moment she saw him which was so utterly ridiculous considering the situation when they met.
Also I felt it's such a cop out on the author's part to use the insta attraction trope to further the story. I mean they celebrated her birthday together when they were practically strangers! They only met twice. I wasn't buying the Hero's insta lust towards the heroine either. The heroine isn't a looker, instead she's decribed as plain. Of course the only way for a guy to fall for a plain girl is when he wants to get into her pants because how else is a person supposed to want someone plain? Her personality? Out of question!
I'm not good at articulating my feelings but overall I just find the whole story not believable. It's sad because I was so excited to want to be able to relate to a character like Skye.
This book is just wayy too perfect. Insta lust, insta attraction. Too convenient. If you're a plain girl wanting to find a romance you can project the hell out of, this book is for you. However, if you're someone like me who wants realistic romantic relationship development, this isn't for you.
Because of Logan by Erica Alexander is book One in the Riggins U Series. This is the story of Skye Devereaux and Logan Cole. Skye and River are fraternal twins and each are so opposite of the other in more than just looks. River is the beautiful outgoing sister that everyone seems to be attracted too..if not even drawn to her. So Sky has lived in her shadow being the calm, bookish, quite and stable on of the sisters. What Skye doesn't see is the beauty she has on the inside and outside too. When Skye is called in the middle of the night by a drunk River she gets out of bed and drives to pick her up in her PJ. But she is pulled over by Logan when she is headed back home. Skye has an instant spark for him but still has doubts that he isn't after her sister. Logan has issue too those being of trust and love. Logan usually goes for the carefree girls like River but from the first moment he saw Skye he had a instant attraction for her. I enjoyed this book and it sucked you in from the first few pages.
Because of Logan is a very well written book with a storyline that most people have lived or will go through to some degree in their lifetime. The author has written about characters that we can all relate to and the story is told in such a way you’ll feel like you’re right there watching the wondrous events unfold right before your eyes. Simply Wonderful.
Finding your one and only is not always an easy road. Especially when your past relationships have caused pain, mistrust and heartbreak. All of this is true for Skye. Add in the fact she is shy, bookish and has always taken a backseat to her twin sister, River. But one night she is pulled over by a police officer, Logan, for a broken taillight. Logan and Skye seem to have an instant spark. But Skye and Logan both have scars from the past. Scars from past relationships and family issues.
Logan bumps into Skye again at the neighborhood coffee shop and he convinces Skye let him take her on one date. A special date for her upcoming 21st birthday. Will one date turn into two? Can these two find a way forget the past and move on or will their inner struggles constantly be a barrier between them and any kind of happiness. 2 Thumbs up for a great read. This is a Flirty, Fun, Tender and Heartwarming book that I HIGHLY Recommend reading, you won’t be sorry.
Very well written and takes you on an emotional roller coaster that leaves you smiling. Both Logan and Skye have strong characters and develop well throughout the book. This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely read the next book in the series
Very sweet and romantic. I liked the touch of drama but the honest resolution of it. It took me a bit to get used to the third person perspective but sticking with the story was worth it. I’m looking forward to reading the next one.
The thing that can make me so mad is when I'm trying to read a book and someone keeps interrupting me... I can get a little crazy so if you want to still be my friend... Don't do it. Lol I've been reading non stop for the last couple of years and I loved every second of it. When I get the chance to read a book from a new author my heart feels like its about to burst. Erica Alexander is a new author to me and I just clicked with her from the beginning. Her writing is simple yet powerful, super detailed and intense. Each chapter will make you feel things on an overwhelming way.. Because of Logan is her newest release and tells the stories of Logan and Skye. Logan is a police officer that found refuge in it to escape his past. He didn't have loving parents therefor he's more into one night stands. One night on the job and his life will change. Skye is used to be her twin sisters shadow. For a while she was content with it but one day she just had enough. Now she wants to be herself and more confident. When she gets a call, in the middle of the night, from her drunk sister she can't imagine what's about to happen... I'm in love. I'm speechless and overwhelmed. This book was what I was missing and didn't knew. The plot is amazing, very well written super engaging and intense. The level of feeling potraited in each chapter was so intense that I felt like my heart would burst at any second. These two share great chemistry and together they will evolve and so much more. It was an amazing read that I totally advise you to read. Erica, if this was just the first book I can't even imagine what's about to happen. Soon please. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This one touched my heart so many times while reading it.
Skye has always been in the background, the quiet twin who was always overshadowed by the other one. When she meets Logan she starts to believe more in herself and wants to be with him and it is awesome to see her come out of her shell. Logan has a past he is not proud of. His family never showed love of they even knew what it was , so he is totally blindsided with what he feels for Skye and boy does he know how to romance her. Like I said touched my heart multiple times while reading their story
Every girl needs a Logan in their life. He is such a confidence booster. Skye has spent her life in the shadow of her sister, believing that she is prettier, more confident and getting all the attention from men. Until Logan. He doesn't take a second glance at her.
Logan pulls Skye over with a broken tail light after she has picked up her drunk sister from a party. Skye is not exactly dressed for an outing at night being in her pyjamas. But Logan is drawn to her in a way that he never has to anyone else. He gives the attention she deserves, making her feel special.
I felt so warm and fuzzy reading this. Skye is an incredible young woman who deserves happiness in the form of someone who sees her and how special she is. I fell so deeply for Logan - one amazing guy. i so did not want this to end. I was so immersed in these characters and their story.
Some times a simple love story is just what you need, this one delivers, quick and enjoyable, would recommend You will love reading both sides of the story.
Because of Logan is phenomenal! It is so cute, fun, fast paced and absolutely addicting!
I love the way Skye and Logan meet. Logan, Hot Cop, pulls over Skye and its instant sparks and connections. From there, their love just blossoms into something so beautiful.
Skye, the reserved of her and her twin River. She never felt like she was beautiful enough. It's quite sad, she has basically been shown her whole life that River is the one people want and gravitate towards. This has caused her many heartaches. But, Logan blows all that to kingdom come. Logan, he has his own issues with trust and love, but for him Skye blow that right out of the water. Logan and Skye are my favorite kind of couple. Together they are so beautiful and encouraging. Regardless of the twin situation, I'm sure there are a lot of girls out there who feel how Skye does. And, for them its empowering to see Love can happen for them.
And let's talk about River for a moment. I love her. Shes so outgoing and blunt. But pain loves inside her and you can just feel it vibrating out of her. I love how protective of Skye she is. And I hope and cannot wait until I can read her story!
This is my 1st book reading by this author and I loved every minute of it. I love the characters in the book I Think they all played a great part and I can't wait to read rivers book.
What a cute, funny, and romantic love story “Because of Logan” was! I totally enjoyed this romance by Erica Alexander! Oh, and great name by the way! That’s my oldest daughter’s name. I thought that Logan and Skye had excellent chemistry! Skye so often questioned her worthiness of Logan. Why would a guy like him be interested in a girl like her? But, what she didn’t realize is that she was a strong, confident and beautiful young woman under that shy quiet demeanor. And, poor Logan came from the family of hell! Wealth doesn’t necessarily mean that one’s life is vacant of heartache and chaos. He was perfect for Skye even though there was a major unsettling climax that was tearful and agonizing for all. Can’t wait to read River and Liam’s book next! I loved River! She was one saucy badass!
The story line and characters were something that you could relate to. The author wrote about real life issues and the reality of dating and the hurt that relationships can cause. You watched Logan and Skye go from not trusting in relationships at all to slowly building themselves up by being there for each other, loving one another. It was truly a beautiful story about finding yourself with someone else and then in yourself.
Logan is a cop and first meets Skye after pulling her over for running a yellow light. Their chemistry is instant, both feeling something connecting one to the other. After a second chance meeting at a coffee shop by his house, he convinces Skye to go out on a date with him. It's all over from there. Both find comfort in one another and build a steadfast relationship , but when misunderstandings and trust is broken can these two make it through the hardships?
An amazing story about finding your one true love and overcoming the hurdles that you have placed on yourself. Hurdles that both of the lead characters have placed on themselves due to experiences that each have either had to have faced or are continuing to face. When that one special person captures your eye and you feel it deep down inside of you, are you able let those hurdles fall away or do you let them ruin the beauty that you have found? Can one person's love for you build you up so much that you find yourself changing, for the better? Do you let the past continue to lurk in the background just enough that you will not allow you to seek the truth, or do you have to have the truth shoved into your face to realize what you have?
Because of Logan is the story of Logan, the "HOT COP" who has been hurt and manipulated in the past which has not only ruined his already shaky relationship with his parents, but has caused terrible trust issues in his dealings with women. Skye is beautiful, sweet and loving and has always been in the shadow of her stunning twin sister. She feels like she is invisible and that no one ever notices her whenever she is around her sister. She loves her sister dearly, they have a very strong bond. Skye is the responsible one, her sister is the lively carefree one. But on the night that Skye is being responsible and bringing her inebriated sister home from a party, things change for her. She is stopped by the police for a broken taillight. Logan is taken with the sight of the beautiful woman behind the wheel of the car he has just stopped. He see's her sister, but it is her that causes him to lose himself to her beauty. A beauty that he see's but one that she cannot. He wants her; badly. But he isn't the only one feeling things. Skye is also taken by the handsome young officer and does not understand what is happening to her, but she likes it.
This story is beautifully written and will have you turning page after page to finish their story. These characters, along with the supporting characters, are well defined and very well written. They will stir your emotions and enlighten your heart. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I so look forward to reading the next book in this series.
All of her life Skye Devereaux has been the quiet, shy twin to her sister River. Logan Cole is a local police officer and one night he stops her when she is out late to pick up her twin from a party in her night cloths and bunny slippers. Because of Logan is a sweet romance with just the right amount of sexy and tells how Logan and Skye are immediately attracted to each other and despite insecurity and family issues find a way to a happy ending. I loved the humor, the sassy and protective twin sister, River and the dangerous situations too.
I have so much love for Logan and Skye! At first I thought the book was just a sweet love story and I was ok with that. But then it turned into so much more than that. Both Skye and Logan have past relationships that affect how they interact and deal with current relationships. Also Logan has family issues that haven’t been resolved. They try to find peace in each other to overcome their pasts but multiple events get in their way. Overall this is a great story about two people who aren’t quite whole, Skye is quiet and doubts herself as she stands in the shadow of her beautiful sister (I see so much of myself in Skye!). And Logan is sure of himself except when it comes to love since he didn’t experience it growing up from his parents and the first woman he thought he loved betrayed him. I highly recommend this book for a good read, with some sweetness but also the right amount of drama and action!
2.5⭐ the story was very cute and wholesome but throughout the book I felt I was reading like a manual about how to properly behave and do's and don'ts for young adults in HS/College and how to deal with law enforcements. I could have live without reading it, to be honest.
This book was a sweet read a wee bit of drama but a beautiful hea too the journey to get there was emotional but well worth it I loved Skye and Logan but I’m so intrigued by river she was one complicated character and I’m dying to read her book
This story was beautifully written. It was instalust, but the love built slow and sweetly. Skye is charming and Logan devastatingly strong and broken all at the same time. The perfect blend of plot and heat that left me with an enormous smile on my face.
I thoroughly enjoyed this cute college read. The author wove an amazing tale of sweet characters and believable plot. This is the first book in the Riggins University series by this author, and my first book by Ms. Alexander. It's full of funny one liners and well developed emotions.
This book takes us along as college student Skye comes into her own, while finding love with Logan. It's a well written plot about love, personal growth, friendships and family. I enjoyed the main theme of Skye coming into her own despite being a twin. Her growth and awareness were on point for her old soul, and something many people experience during their college years... “this self-imposed shell feels constrictive. I'm outgrowing it, and I have no idea what to do with myself.”
We follow Skye, the ugly duckling to her sister's swan. Logan is police officer, and older than Skye. And while the age difference provides some struggles for the two, it also works in this book; Skye is a very responsible woman, yet still a naive college girl; which work as a perfect foil to Logan's need for some fun and trust. I think one quote that works for all the characters is “I'm a work in progress,” and I was excited to be along for the ride!
These characters felt an obvious attraction right away, but played it safe and responsible. I liked how they worked on getting to know each other, and especially how Logan tread carefully around the age difference and place authority. But when the time comes, they come together organically through their trust and love.
I adored the writing of Ms. Alexander. She had such witty and emotional writing that drew me to read this book in one sitting. Between fun lines like “I want to eat your cookies, and I know I'll love them,” and “I didn't plan bail money into this month's budget” I was laughing and hurting with the characters as they moved through life.
“Often, courage is measured against how brave one is, but now I wonder about a different kind of courage. The courage to expose oneself and the willingness to get hurt in the process. If I'm to measure myself by this yardstick, I'm a coward.” I loved the growth and development of not only the main characters, but the supporting characters as well. I can't wait to read future books to find out what Skye's twin is up to, or learn more about Logan's brother Liam (FYI, Logan texting to Liam slays me!).
Skye Devereaux has always been okay living in the shadow of her outgoing twin, as she's content to just stay home & read a good book rather than go to parties like other college students. But the night that she goes to pick up her twin, she meets the super hot, Logan Cole, when he pulls them over. And this is one time that she hopes that someone doesn't pick her twin over her, as she feels a strong attraction for the sexy cop. Logan hasn't had an interest in a woman in a long time after leaving behind a nasty past, so his reaction to Skye doesn't make sense to him, but he decides that he wants to make her his. This story caught my full attention from the very beginning when Skye got pulled over, in the most hilarious way, and it never slowed down for me. Logan was so yummy, while Skye was an amazing heroine, and their chemistry was off the charts HOT! And that led to some super sexy times that lit the sheets on fire, but after a slower progression, so I loved that part too. Plus, her twin, River, definitely added a huge humor aspect to the mix, while other secondaries were awesome as well. Finally, there were some surprising twists to turn on my f-bomb dropping button, which added some serious angst/drama to this sweetly sexy story. I really love Erica Alexander's talented & addictive writing style, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
I absolutely adore this book! It's the first book I've read of this author's and it for sure won't be my last! This story made it so easy to visualize Logan and Skye, to see and feel every moment they had together. I read it in one sitting because I could not put it down. I'm very excited to read more books related to Logan and Skye...even ones not. Lol This author is a must read!
