The Apostles’ Creed is the most popular summary of the Christian faith. Yet for all its simplicity, the Creed expresses profound truths about God’s redemptive work that are full of liturgical, catechetical, confessional, and missional implications. In this book, author Stanley D. Gale familiarizes modern readers with this ancient statement of belief and its demand for a faith that enlightens the mind, enflames the heart, and engages the will with the wonders of God’s saving grace.
Stanley D. Gale serves as senior minister of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He has authored a number of works on spiritual warfare, including Warfare Witness: Contending with Spiritual Opposition in Everyday Evangelism.
A good simple book about the great old creed that many of us say together each Sunday as part of our gathered worship. Lots of helpful things that you'll think about as you recite it in the future-- how the 'I believe' matches the 'Our Lord,' putting the first person singular in the context of first person plural; how the Holy Spirit section explodes out into the particulars of the working of the Spirit in our lives; how the Trinitarian God of the Church is the Trinitarian God of the Bible. It's good and worth reading.
I have not finished The Christian's Creed. My Kindle jumped to the end without provocation. However, what I have read is excellent and I am looking forward to the completion. Quite likely that this volume will be added to the permanent reference section of my library.
