Forged in Blood #3

Celestial Bones

Rate this book
I thought everything was starting to fall into place. Then the world came crashing down around me.

What started as a tedious job watching over some old elf-god bones quickly turned into blood rituals with me as the intended sacrifice, betrayal by one of the few people I trusted, and a whole lot of zombies.

And it’s all down hill from here.

Been an exhausting weekend and it's not over yet. Still I just had to stay up late and finish this. In my opinion this is the best book of this series thus far. Will write more tomorrow, it's already after 1am and I have to up early in the morning...

I am really enjoying this series. It is told exclusively from Niko’s point of view and I find that I like his voice. I love that Alasdair is so patient with him and works with him as a partner and doesn’t try to dominate him. I like that sex takes a back seat in this story and the MCs don’t rush into it at all. Also anything that does happen, happens off page which I like.

If I had one complaint, it would be that this story took a turn that was a bit unexpected. At least for me and I was left with no clear motivation behind the shift. I want to know the motivation behind the actions of villain or villains and I don’t have that yet. Hopefully, it will be explored in the future installments.

Overall, a wonderful addition to the series. I definitely wouldn’t start here if you are new to the series as this is not a stand-alone story.

It's one of those books in a series that comes before the big endgame. It felt like it decelerates while calling in all the allies, build up the threat and tint the world dark enough for the evil to arrive. It's not that nothing was achieved and we even get the first sex between Niko and Alasdair (although mostly off page) but I can't help it, everything felt like the story is drawing a breath for the final confrontation.

Lots of action

I enjoy the first books in the series, but as they progress they lose something. Not sure if I will continue with the serious or not.

I love Niko, the hero in Holly Evans’ Forged in Blood series. His life is so wonderfully complicated and his personality perfectly complex. A made wolf shifter (meaning he wasn’t born that way) who is now one of the goddess’s elite chosen Guardians, he is constantly getting into unintended troubles whether in his personal life or his career. That career of do-goodery is the key ingredient for exciting tales, and Celestial Bones (Book 3) is no exception. What starts off as a “tedious job” watching over some old elf-god bones ends up being a pretty darn exciting thriller of an adventure with zombies, betrayals and worse. It’s all vastly entertaining for we readers, however, so I chalk it up as a major win. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Nico and Alasdair are now in love and are Guardians along with their cohort, Grey. Nico's magic comes naturally to him now, but not so much his wolf. Now rips are occurring in the veil and a war is threatening the world as those in favor of the veil coming down are working hard to keep those wanting the veil to come down from invading the human world. A fae queen is still after Nico to make him her pet and Nico feels the world is falling apart. The only good thing in his life at the moment is Alasdair. Now there is a suspicion that things are not as they should be with the "Moon Goddess and her priestess. They are the three men's bosses and they haven't heard from them for awhile. There is violence at every turn in this book, ton of angst, sexy men, treachery and magic galore, A book and the series are all of what readers are looking for.

nudo

review for all three books

it took me some time to start this book but I am so glad I did. Niko is interesting as character and I enjoyed how this story developed over time.
his and Alasdairs relationship is more or less a fated one but it was definitely not love at first sight and I really enjoyed that they took their time to build their relationship.
the third book was a bit too much chaos but nevertheless, I really liked the whole story.

I would love to read more about this world and these two

I loved the first two books. I loved Nico. I loved his spunk his fuck you attitude. This book on the other hand, felt too short, rushed, and like nothing happened... which the first book was 208 pages, the 2nd 164 pages, and this one only 128 pages. I know the initial book release was pushed back... I would've waited longer for more length and just more. AND I Did not WAIT

Action-packed goodness! I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. This book was full of action, suspense, betrayal and romance. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Absolutely Brilliant

This was just as good as the first two books and it left me wanting more. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
