Chook Doolan can't wait to show his new ukulele to his friend Eddie Two-hats. But Eddie isn't busking in his normal spot. Where can he be? And will Chook be able to help him?
This is the fourth book in the Chook Dolan series, but the first that I have read. The name Chook is from a young aster who was quite afraid of everything and called chicken, now a bit older he is called chook, of course, see the reasoning there, yeah, yeah me not so much either. Aside from that it was all an average story.
Book four in the Chook Doolan series, this is a story of determination and application, a story of empathy and kindness.
Chook likes to talk to the man who busks on a corner he passes every day from home to school and back.
When this man is taken to hospital, Chook devises a plan to help the man by saving his busking spot for when he returns. He overcomes his fear of performing in public and is rewarded by the man's understanding and kindness.
The large print, lively illustrations and short chapters with plenty of action will delight the young reader as they make the progression from large print picture books to longer chapter books. Recommended for children aged 5+.
