The Beast's Baby

Rate this book
This time he’s fighting to become a family.

Axel

When I left home to follow my dream of becoming a boxer, I was too young and stupid
to know what I was leaving behind.

These days I fill my world with the blood and sweat of a violent profession and the meaningless sexual conquests that come with it.

A futile attempt to erase from my mind the only woman I’ve ever loved.

Since I can’t let her go, I have no choice but to win her back.

Olive

I’ve loved Axel my entire life.
The boy next door.
We didn’t talk about the attraction building between us,
until one fateful night those sparks finally burst into flames.

But when he broke my heart, he left me with a souvenir.
A walking, talking little reminder of the man I will always love, but can never again trust with my heart.

Now he’s back, wanting to pick up where we left off.
And there’s no way I’m letting him know about our baby.

I think the author had trouble constructing this story...here are my MAIN complaints:
-MATH: she was 17, he was 18...they have been separated 3 years...how the hell did he become 23?????? Also, if the slept together once and she got pregnant then again separated for 3 yers... how come that their daughter is three almost 4 years old?!!!!! She shouldn’t be more than 2 and half!
-How is she earning money??? Doesn’t seem like she works...her dad didn’t have much and needed financial help from H parents and then he passed away 2 years ago...she didn’t go to college cus she had the baby at age 18 I guess....don’t even know if she finished school! So how did she live and supported a kid?
-It’s also funny that she had a house and was living in a different place and different apartment... and that old house was ready for her to just go back and start living there again...really? I leave my place for a couple of weeks and then I have to do full cleaning.
-Selena is such a great friend but sleazy Barry just comes to blackmail the H and she becomes his girlfriend? That it?
-Generally while reading lots of time I went (ha? Did I miss something???) fragmented.
-Overall, weak plot, weak execution.

I was hoping this book would be really good and just blow me away. It just didn't draw me and never connected with the characters. The character's didn't really have all that much chemistry. Little Lark is the reason I am giving this book 3 stars.

Interesting.. but something was definitely off.

Okay, not going to lie. I loved Olive and Axel together.. but the math just didn't add up. They were next door neighbors and best friends until they went their separate ways in High School. These two had some deep crushes on one another and they eventually slept together one night after a terrible party. Olive was 17 years old and Axel just turned 18 - what a great birthday present for him: her virginity.

Well that one night turned into a bun in the oven. I was a little confused on how she found out so quickly.. but hey, whatever floats her boat I guess. Three years later, she has a a beautiful girl named Lark. Oh, and he magically floats back into their lives. Even though she's engaged to the douchiest guy ever, and kind of for a dumb reason too, they still have sparks between them. He's determined to win her back and doesn't seem scared to know that Lark is his.

Now Lark is almost 4 years old.. Axel is now 23 years old... and I'm still confused on how the hell this is 3 years later from when she found out she was pregnant. Am I missing some important information? Aside from the math that will continue to confuse me, the love that these two had was something special. They were two puzzle pieces that just worked and I was really happy that they finally got their happy ending.

Overall, it was a pretty quick book to read and if someone can explain the math to me - I would be eternally grateful and probably give you my first born child (whenever that happens).

This was a great second chance romance. Axel and Olive were best friends growing up, that sort of changed in high school. Then they had one incredible night together before Axel disappeared leaving behind a little surprise. There were times in this book that I wanted to really slap both characters for just being so dang stubborn. Both thinking they knew what was best and both really running from each other. Now, there is an HEA so we know they find their way back to each other but the journey to that point... wow.
There are hot as hell parts of this book, also a cheating almost ex, a sweet little girl that captures your heart, blackmail, and well... what else could you want in a book?

Axel and Olive grew up together. The chemistry they shared finally expressed itself in one steamy night and then Axel was gone and Olive was left with his baby. Now he is back and doesn’t plan on letting her go, will she trust him with her heart again? This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama and great characters. The chemistry is steamy and the story keeps you hooked from beginning to end. I really liked it.

Hard pass

I’m sorry to say I didn’t like this story. There were several writing errors and the storyline felt like it was on repeat. I couldn’t finish it. The storyline was frustrating and lacked real depth.

1. The heroine always forgives the”hero” and has sex with him
2. They have sex then aren’t together for the stupidest reasons
3. The “hero” has lots of sex with other women and contemplates it even after getting back with the heroine
4. This book wasted my afternoon

¿No querías terminar?

Caracterización de los personajes:

💪🏻Axel Reign: 23 años, aproximadamente 185 cm. Cabello corto color castaño oscuro, ojos color café, musculoso. Luchador profesional.

The Edge of The 🔪Knife

Childhood Best Friends become a one night stand.
The premise of this book📑 was good, but in reality, the execution made me crazy.
The young single mother, Olive💃💋, gets pregnant from the one night and totally rejects the father, Axel🐺🍆🌋👊, her best friend, and a professional boxer.
There were so many thing wrong with this book📑 on so many levels, I don't know where to start. The story line is one of unending angst, which I really dislike.

The book📑 is well written, I just don't like how Olive💃💋 lives her life, and puts herself, her daughter Lark👧, her friend, and most of all, Axel🐺🍆🌋👊, through so much B.S. She sees life as black or white, no compromise, when we all know life is in living color🌈 and shades of gray.

ARC Received.
I also got the book📑 with KU.

Axel and Olive grew up together but when he became the popular jock she was left behind. Just before his birthday he tracked Olive down and asked her out. On the same night another guy asked her too and she left with him. Axel found them and got Olive to leave with him. He and Olive spent a great night together but when she went to look for him the next day he was gone. Axel had gotten signed as a fighter and left not long after they were together but planned for them to keep seeing each other. It wasn't long after that Olive found out that she's pregnant with his baby. A few years later Axel drunken calls Olive and she goes and brings him home not knowing what to do next. Olive is getting ready to marry Jason when Axel rocks her world all over again. Will Axel convince Olive to give him a chance? What will he do when he learns about his daughter?

This is a great story and will keep your attention from beginning to end. The chemistry between Olive and Axel is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This story is full of second chances. These two are meant to be together and nothing will stop it from happening in one way or another. Starting off as best friends, they have a wild night before he leaves to begin his boxing career that leaves her with a gift that she hides from him. He gets a second chance, just to have it all ripped away from him again. These two finally get their HEA and it’s a beautiful thing. I loved every minute of this book and cannot wait for more. KICKING IT IN THE STICKS!!!
A wonderfully written, steady paced, smooth flowing read that captures your attention from the start and and holds it until the last word. These two authors has a great creative connection between them. It just seems so effortless as it weaves us into their imagination until nothing else exists except this world they've built for us to enjoy. The characters are intriguing and complex with a undeniable connection between the two main characters. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Twists and turns abound with unexpected surprises that keep your attention focused on the pages as their world rolls by. These guys did a remarkable job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job guys, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

A beautiful second chance romance, we get a lot of tension, but we also get a beautiful, if difficult, love story. Axel and Olive has been best friends, but Olive leaves after a great night together, but she doesn't leave alone. The romance moves quickly, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Axel and Olive. They don't always make the best choices, but I think it's lovely how they choose each other. I highly recommend his romance with a lot of moments that bring smiles and tears. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.

I’m new to both of these authors so it’s my 1st read and review for both of them. Olivia and Axel have loved each other since they were young, they had spent a night together then Axel left to pursue his dream of boxing and making it big and he’s done both. But Axel left Olivia with a gift 9 months later, Axel had never forgotten Olivia so he went back to their town to find her. Olivia doesn’t want to tell Axel about their child and she doesn’t want him to break her heart again so she keeps pushing him away. A fantastic read and I loved the characters they had great chemistry with a very well written storyline you don’t want to miss this one. I really enjoyed reading this story it’s a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Audiobook Review: The Beast's Baby by N. Alleman (Author), J. Chase (Author), Holly Holt (Narrator)

The Beast's Baby felt like a work in progress more than a finished product. I so wanted to like Axel but the man with a plan seemed to have a hard time growing up. It's hard to feel a connection to characters you don't like very much.

This is a second chance romance story. The story is well developed and thought out. The book is a quick and easy read. The characters are relatable and likable. I thought the book had a little too much back and forth between characters before and while things were looking good. The plot was good but could use a little more tweaking to give more to the twist. It was still a good read. I received an ARC and voluntarily leaving a review.

Great second chance romance! Axle was the boy next door and when he walked away from Olive she was crushed. Now he's back but she's engaged. This is an emotional roller coaster ride with it's ups and downs but at the end you are happy to take the ride!

There friendship rekindled things go further than they expected and Axel suddenly leaves. When Olive realises he's gone she's devastated but he's left part of himself behind.

This is a second chance romance where, in all honesty, I'm surprised they finally get together with all the dumb things they do.
Axel and Olive have been friends forever. He changed a bit and she felt like she was loosing her best friend. He reaches out, she stands him up.
These two do things to each and Olive is always running away from Axel.
Lark seems adorable and Selena is a good friend. Selena hooking up with Barry seems a bit off.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review.

Olive and Axel have known each other inside they were young and have grown up together. After they give in to one steamy night, Axel leaves and before you know it Olive is pregnant. When he finally comes back into the picture will it be too late to get her back? I enjoy second chance romances and this one was a very enjoyable read.

This is a frustratingly sweet and sexy second chance, secret baby story between Axel and Olive. Their relationship and chemistry is fiery but the characters were so frustrating at times making their journey to HEA quite trying. But it was worth the heartache.

What a piece of crap!

This story is nothing but sloppy writing. An incompetent compilation of human emotion. So chock full of cheating it’s disgusting! Grammar and continuity issues galore.

I mean seriously, in their first sex scene the female lead was described as wearing a too small skirt and then when it came time to undress she was wearing jeans. This is a ridiculously basic mistake and it is just one of a load of them.

The whole first half of the book is about cheating by the male and female leads, by a side character, and just random sex or relationships with other people. I don’t consider this book a romance.

The second half of the book had unnecessary strife by the two leads due to misunderstandings that showed a lack of maturity by not just the written characters but by the author! As an example, one side character ends up with another side character that made no sense as to why or how that could or would happen, when one is described as an uber wonderful fantasy best friend and the other as a despicable blackmailer only out for money. Come on now, how would they work?!?!

On a lesser note, another reviewer stated that they believed this author knows nothing about the boxing industry and I have to agree. I am ignorant of sports in general but all of the boxing described here, either actual fights or the behind the scenes set ups made no sense at all. But whatever. Smh

I am returning this book for a refund and thanking god I didn't buy the other book I was interested in "The Baller's Secret Baby" by this same author. I never want to waste my time on this author again. This author has no understanding of people and shouldn't be writing romance books. Or books at all, considering the other issues I mentioned above.

The story is frankly immature, and it reflects in the immaturity of the leading characters.
One is constantly apologizing for his and her mistake while the is childish and lacks any shred of accountability.

While it's understandable in the beginning of the book since she was still 17-years-old, it becomes annoying in present time when she's a mother and years have gone by, but still blames everything on him and never admits to any part of the blame, when in reality, yes, he made the mistake of going away unanounced, but he'd come back for her to explain but she repeatedly refused to see him and went on to blame their separation on him. Which brings me to my second point on why this book was a waste of my time...

MATH!!!!!

The author either can't do basic math or didn't even bother. How else would you explain the fact that two years ago they were 17 & 18, and now they're 22 and 23 respectively with a 4 year old daughter. And no, it's not a typo. This mistake has been consistent throughout the book.

I repeatedly skipped chapter of the book but there seemed to be no character developement which prompted me to just give up and be done with the book.

I am NOT one to give up on a book midway, I don't think I ever did actually, but I guess there's a first time for everything.
I just couldn't waste any more time and frustrate myself for no reason when reading is something I do to unwind.

A Gentle Beast and A Beauty

Neighbors and friends Axel and Olive's journey together is a classic story retold by two great authors. I simply adore Normandie work, of which I have read almost all of her works. I have discovered within the pages of this book a new author J. Chase- a very intense writer.

This book starts out as young love and friendship yet it is so much more. One of the most sensual scenes, which takes place in an alley is captivating. Friendship turned love is not always an easy path. While there is angst and amazing sex scenes, everything blends into a great read.

I loved each of the characters including 2 supporting characters that play a pivotal role in the story ( would love their back story). As an avid reader. I really was impressed with the gripping scenes in the fight scenes- just awesome. It was as if I were right there in all the ring ceremonies.

I look forward to reading the other two collaborative works from these authors. Wish I could rare this a 10 just for a lark.
