The Way We Burn

Rate this book
Irresistible attraction. Unimaginable danger.

I knew from the moment Noah Williamson walked into the diner that he was haunted—deeply haunted—but I couldn’t resist the lure of him. He was gorgeous and fascinating and mysterious, and like a delicate moth to a brilliant blue flame, I was drawn to him. Drawn to his fire.

But if I’d known about his job, about what happened to his wife, I’d have run the other way. Before I got caught up in the red-hot blaze of his life. Before everything in my world got burned to the ground.

It’s too late to run now. I hesitated and that was it. I fell. I fell for him before I knew there was danger in loving him.

Noah once told me that this is the way we burn—together or not at all. At the time, I didn’t know what that meant.

Now I do.

**The Way We Burn is a love story…with a kicker! Suspense, chemistry, and twists galore, I can’t wait for you to jump in! But don’t be afraid. This is a stand alone VERY romantic story with a VERY satisfying ending. I promise:) xoxo M**

KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

THE WAY WE BURN:  Is a Full length, romance novel by ‘M. Leighton’ Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ In this we meet Noah and Poppy.

God I don't even know how to write up this review, this book took me completely by surprise, a plot twist that changed the whole story, a twist even I did not see coming, like a flipped coin it changed everything I thought I knew about the story, brilliantly executed.

Thirty three year old Noah is a man cloaked in tragedy, sadness covers him like a second skin, eighteen months ago his life changed dramatically, he'd lost so much, but still he carried on, not only for himself but for someone he'd loved wholeheartedly.

NOW: He frequents a local diner daily at seven o'clock sharp without fail, where he’s inexplicably drawn to Poppy. Nothing deters him from this daily routine. but he's just a ghost of himself, ghosting through the days, just going through the motions.

Poppy doesn’t know much about Noah, only his name, he comes in daily at the diner she works at, and sits in her corner, orders the same food from the same menu without fail day in day out, and she notices how unhappy he looks. And it's like his soul is crying out to her soul, there's something about him that draws her to him, other than his good looks and the saddest of blue eyes she's ever seen.

I should stay away from her. It would be better for her. Men like me attract the attention of bad people. Dangerous people. But I can't.

Out of the blue he asks her out. A dinner, and for nine days he turns up at her work, walks her home, and leaves. Nine days of pent up frustration. Nine days of wanting more.

I have a feeling that if things progress between Noah and me, it'll happen like a hurricane. A deceptively calm, shockingly intense, all consuming hurricane. It'll creep up out of nowhere and hit me hard and fast. It will be relentless. And I will be wrecked.

Poppy is a deep complicated female with so many hidden layers, as we delve deeper into the story more of her is revealed. She has many complex sides to her, the shy side, the feisty side, the sexy side, the mysterious side.

Their's is a whirlwind romance, it's all consuming, a quick fast burn that takes you unawares, they both fall fast, a story that has you in it's grips and doesn't let go until that very last page. This book took me unawares, took me on such a unique journey.

4 EPIC MINDFUCK STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don't know where to start so I'll start with "what in the actual fuck just happened?"

It's so hard to review this book without giving too much away.

It begins as your usual man meets woman and suddenly they're in love the next chapter. However, nothing in this story is what it seems.

As seems to be the trend of late, the story is told in alternating chapters through the eyes of Poppy and Noah. I hated Poppy, she's weak and annoying and although she's in her 30's, the writing felt more like she was a teenager.

I almost gave up on this book as the first half is the typical alpha male/damsel in distress storyline and, in my opinion, this carries on for far too long. I understand why the author did this now that I'm finished with the book but it was still offputting. Then a huge curveball is thrown in that makes you completely forget any misgivings you had about the first half. A curveball of such epic proportions it'll have you questioning your entire life. And then yet another twist tossed in just for good measure. Totally did not see either one of them coming.

A fun read with a unique twist.

FYI - This is a Kindle Unlimited book.

★ 4 UNEXPECTED stars!!! ★

What the hell did I just read?

“When we jump, we risk falling. But we also risk flying.”

Eu nem sei como escrever essa resenha... terminei a leitura há horas e estou quebrando a cabeça pra conseguir expressar como foi essa experiência.

“I should stay away from her. It would be better for her. Men like me attract the attention of bad people. Dangerous people.”

Poppy foi uma personagem que eu não consegui gostar tanto. A sua personalidade não é a minha favorita em livros... sonhadora, ingênua, bobinha... acompanhar seus pensamentos internos foi de certo modo cansativo.

“...but something about him speaks to me. Profoundly. That pain… I can relate to it. But it could also be dangerous for my heart. He’s nursing some pretty serious wounds, I’d say, and they could spell trouble for me. But, strangely, they’re the very reason I’m willing to take the risk. My brokenness is drawn to his.”

“He will take me by storm, like a hurricane, and that’s that. So I give up. I give in. To it. To him. And I let go. It is my time to risk falling. And pray for the flying.”

This is a cleverly crafted novel of suspense about Noah Williamson, an FBI agent whose life is marked with pain, loss, grief and so much love for his daughter and wife.
The plot moves forward gradually.
The Way We Burn is a dark romantic suspense, a story that is a deep character study on how tragedy breaks down a person’s defenses causing doubt about one’s own sanity to set in.
M. Leighton delivers a well written book that will have you hooked from the beginning.
If you love a good thrilling ride with a side of romance then step on board and hang on.

"When you find someone to love, you throw your whole self into it and you don't give up. Ever. If they cry, you hold them. If they hurt, you fix them. And if they disappear, you find them. And when you do, you love them until they come back to you."

In short:

I had a couple of friends recommend this book to me, so I decided to go ahead today and give it a read. I liked it a lot. Sure, I figured out the twist(s) very early on, plus it got a bit far-fetched near the end, but it was one of the best books I have read in a while! Fantastic writing. Well paced. Great characters. Love. Heartbreak. Sexy times. All wrapped up with an uplifting ending.

description

Just a little side note, you really need to read this book right up until the end to be able to give an accurate review. Stopping before 50% is going to leave you with an incomplete picture, and I'd hate for someone to miss out on this fantastic read. So my advice, stick it out. It may still not be a great book for you (and that is fine), but at least you will be basing that on having gotten the WHOLE story and not a partial one.

Holy Wow! This book! Talk about a wild and twisted ride! I started this expecting one thing, became a bit discouraged early on because I did not like where this was headed, but within no time at all I was caught up in a story unlike any I’ve read before. And I loved every freaking moment of it!

I’m not going to go into the details of this story because it’s one of those that you should go into as blind as possible. I will say that it was written in a wonderfully fresh voice (at least for me) with characters that come alive on the page and pull you into their story until you’re on the very edge of your seat unable to look away in case you miss anything. Everything within these pages build you up to a point where you forget there is life outside of what’s happening in this book. There are so many “Holy crap!” moments that you almost become hysterical with it. There are twists and turns galore. Some you will see coming, some will blindside you between one blink of the eye and the next.

Warning: Do not, I repeat, do not start this book late in the evening because once you start you will be unable to stop.

If you’re looking for something a bit different with a tad of dark to it, this is certainly the book for you!

Hurricane and Fire

SPOILER FREE…I promise!!!

Eureka!!! I found treasure!!! Pure gold…I tell you… Excuse the outburst friends but I just discovered a wonderful author with which many of you are already familiar, Michelle Leighton. I know, I know what rock have I been hiding under? Ahhhh…but the joy of discovery and knowing that more treasure awaits in her catalogue of work!!! I feel so lucky.

I was entertained, enthralled and moved emotionally by this tour de force of a romantic suspense. It was a wonderfully complex story line with a “hurricane” twist… I cannot and will not in good conscience tell you much about the story. Your delight will be greatly enhanced if you go in blind. Do not read any reviews if you think that the dear sweet reviewer has even the slightest tendency to give the story away.

Here are the few things I can tell you. The story is told in alternating first person POVs. The hero, Noah is yummy. He is tall, handsome with beautiful blue eyes that show so much sorrow. He is haunted by the past. He is attracted to a sweet, quietly beautiful waitress at a diner and he comes to eat at the same time every evening and sits in her section. It’s obvious from the start he comes there for her.

Polly is a sweet simple woman who is attracted to this haunted man. She cannot believe that he is interested in a woman like her. He tells her the sweetest things that he notices about her. Their connection is undeniable.

They begin a relationship outside the diner slowly and tentatively…it’s agonizingly slow but so hot as the sexual tension builds. This author knows a thing or two about writing a steamy scene. As their relationship continues to grow…a mystery begins to materialize surrounding Polly’s roommate. Telling you anything beyond this point is entering spoiler territory.

The story is whole. For as complex as it is…I did not see anything glaringly “unexplainable”. It is not beyond the bounds of probability. The suspense is “killer” … I loved it!!! The love story was intense and beautiful…in all its manifestations.

I was completely enthralled with Noah at the end. As I know many of you will be enthralled with this hero. Take a chance on this hurricane ride. There’s a fire here that will not be put out!!!

“You are worth it. You’re worth anything. Everything. You’re my moon, my sun. My stars and my heaven. You’re my whole damn galaxy. Life is shit without you in it. You’re my ‘why’.”

This book is so fantastically written. In the beginning I wasn’t sure I was going to like it based on a trope that never works for me but it ended up being an epic love story that will stick with me for a long time. I could see myself rereading this one in the future.

Beware of Spoilers!

Star Ratings:
Heroine (Poppy): age unkown
Hero (Noah): 33yrs old
Plot: 1/5
Grovel: who cares at this point
Cheating: yes
HEA: I hope not
Triggers: too many

Average score: 1/5 – Dnf’d at chapter 18

Best Line: none

Worst Line: “Yeah, you sound just like my wife, and closing my eyes and listening to you helps me forget the sight of her bloody, naked body.”

Personal Review:
An FBI agent is on a mission to avenge his beloved wife’s death and ends up visiting a diner for several months just because the waitress sounds like his wife. The doormat waitress falls for him. He gets sexually assaulted and blackmailed by her BFF. He ‘falls in love’ with the waitress (which is really hard to believe since he is always thinking about his dead wife).

I know what the twist was but the execution was very poor.

A REALLY bad ‘romance’

Random Ramblings:
•Please please please…don’t let the h be the replacement for his dead wife

•So he visits the restaurant where she works only because she sounds like his wife…not looking good for the h and I am not impressed

•Well at least he told her from the start…but I was annoyed that she still stayed
•I don’t believe him and can’t believe that she did believe him

•This is what I would have said to him…

•Wow Simone (the h’s BFF) was a bitch…she started to give the H a blowjob whilst he was sleeping in the h’s bed (h had left for work). H stopped her when he realised who it was…of course he was dreaming that it was his dead wife (not the h!!)…and he didn’t tell the h what happened with her ‘BFF’

•So just found out that Simone had recorded it and now is blackmailing the H with it

•Cannot believe this…she tells him she loves him and now he believes he loves her??? When did they have a chance to ‘fall in love’???

•I am so done – waste of my time

Overall Feeling:

“Why the hell do I do this to myself?”

Why indeed

Enthralling. Captivating. Jaw-dropping suspense.

Full review below:

First off, I want to thank Michelle for reaching out and asking me to read this book before she even sent it out to bloggers to review. I am humbled that she would trust me and my opinion enough to ask this of me.

The Way We Burn is a book unlike any of Michelle's previous work and I know that she took a risk not only writing this but choosing to release it. I am beyond thrilled that she took this leap and wrote a truly amazing story that will leave you gasping.

This review will be extremely vague because this is another book that you need to go into it blind; no preconceived ideas, notions or expectations. Without the risk of sound too cheesy, this book will burn you from inside out (ok, so it was cheesy but it is so true!!)

"When we jump, we risk falling. But we also risk flying."

Noah is very desolate and sad man. His life changed many years ago in ways we can never imagine. Through it all, he chose to never give up in his pursuit of justice.

He's recently found himself far away from what he used to call his home. He frequents a diner daily at the exact same time without fail, all because of one woman, Poppy. He has no idea why, but he is drawn to her like a moth to flame. But he says nothing to her except his exact order each day.

Poppy and the rest of the patrons and workers at the diner don't know much about Noah, except his name. The know when to expect, what he orders and where he sits every day. But she too is inexplicably drawn to him. Aside from his handsome, rugged looks, she sees something more in him.

They never speak more to each other aside from his order each day, until one day he asks her out to dinner. And from there, the story of Noah and Poppy unfold in ways I never anticipated.

"This is the way we burn, baby. We burn together, or not at all. I'm in this forever."

Michelle delivers a gripping, intense and twisted story of true love that knows no end. It is told from both POV's and that is what makes this book even more riveting and intriguing. It's not your typical romance story. Your heart will beat with every word that is written. Michelle takes you a journey with an ending that you won't see coming.

This book and these characters will resound with me for years to come. Bravo, Michelle.

It's been a long time since I have read a book from M Leighton. I forgot what a great writer she is. So after reading the synopsis I was ready to go with this one.

I am not going to go into this book too much because you should go in blind. Don't read any reviews.

This is a roller coaster storyline but like me you might guess some of the plot (I did around 12%). The synopsis dangles only a part of what this is really about. This has a kicker of a plot, a love story and loadsa twists but it is also very well written.

Recommended read for all my book buddies. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

4.5 STARS!
WOW! I was certainly not expecting that... The Way We Burn is SO AMAZING! SO UNEXPECTED! Such a page-turner that I couldn't put it down for one single second.

Noah Williamson is haunted by his past... losing his child and his wife in the most tragic of ways... how does one ever overcome and survive such a loss.

Noah finds some peace in Poppy, a waitress at a diner he goes to, and his life seems to be taking a turn to the light... to the less heavy... to maybe finding some sort of happy.

But there are still so many unresolved things for this couple... so many questions... so many things happening that as the story started to unfold that I was left speechless. As you can see from my updates here... OMG left my mouth several times throughout my read. What an emotional, intense, all-consuming story! A love like this is what people dream about and wish for... a forever love that knows no bounds and wow... JUST WOW!

I know I am not saying much and I'm sorry for that but with something like this, there can be no spoilers because watching this story unfold the way it did with all of its twists and turns was something to experience in itself.

I love Michelle Leighton books... The Dandelion is a top fave this year and I have just added another Leighton book on my list... WOW! I can't say it enough!!!

The Way We Burn is a unique, mysterious, and insightful story about pain, about loss, and about love. It’s about two kindred souls whose eyes convey the sadness and anguish they both carry and endure, and as a reader, it’s easy to understand why Noah and Poppy are drawn to each other; like attracts like and these two desperately need rescuing and regardless of their respective torment, it seems as if Noah and Poppy can move forward together but only if the nightmares that have found their way into the characters’ reality are handled and conquered, which, when readers get an up close and personal look into Noah and Poppy’s darkness, they’ll be able to see the wounds and scars that have been left by an hellish set of circumstances that seem hellbent on destroying everything these characters love.

Throughout much of the text, the story line is unpredictable, which means that it’s difficult for readers to ascertain exactly how all of Noah and Poppy’s thoughts, spoken words, and actions align, and this is deliberate on M. Leighton’s part because she doesn’t want to reveal how all of the pieces fit together too quickly; she wants her readers to make their own assertions…come to their own conclusions before she unravels everything because that’s what keeps readers invested…it’s what has them being active readers - ones who look for clues and make inferences about content and then see how their assumptions pan out once all information is out in the open.

M. Leighton describes The Way We Burn as a ‘love story with a kicker,’ and let me tell you that ‘kick’ is as unsuspecting as it is exhilarating and it brings both Noah and Poppy full circle, but what that truly means is something that each reader will need to find out on her own because Noah and Poppy’s journey to the end of the book is beyond difficult, beyond traumatic, and beyond anything that readers could probably anticipate, which means that in order to get through the ordeal that drives the ending, readers need to dispense all outside thoughts and focus on what M. Leighton is exploring beyond the anguish in Noah’s eyes and beyond the brokenness that seems to drive both Noah and Poppy.

All I have left to say is hold on tight and enjoy the ride because it’s definitely a complex and layered one and it’s also one that doesn’t follow a clear and uninterrupted path because life’s complications always veer off course.

Jesus H. Christ, I don’t know where to start with the awesomeness of this book.

My mind is blown, I’m utterly speechless and I’m struggling to form a sentence that will enable to express just how amazing The Way We Burn was.

Over the years I’ve found that a lot of books are somewhat the same. I mean how many different stories can there possibly be? So I’ve kind of lost a little bit of my read mojo. After reading this I have it back full force. This story was unlike any other and is possibly one of the best I have ever read.

The Way We Burn deserves more than 5 stars if I could give it more I would. The concept was genius, the story was raw, gritty and hot. The ups and downs, twists and turns kept me at the end of my seat throughout.

I completely forgot about the outside world as soon as I picked up the book, I was hooked from the start and captivated until the end. I wanted to devour it but made myself slow down so that I could just absorb the utter brilliance of the story.

I cannot recommend this book enough, it is a must-read for sure and if you love a romantic suspense, you will love this as much as I did.

M.Leighton has outdone herself and I'm in awe of this book. A.MAZ.ING

When you find someone to love, you throw your whole self into it and you don't give up. Ever. If they cry, you hold them. If they hurt, you fix them. And if they disappear, you find them. And when you do, you love them until they come back to you.

Michelle Leighton's latest release provides readers with a wickedly entertaining dose of suspense and intrigue. And it has left me stunned and tongue-tied. It's a gut-kicker romantic suspense filled with a dizzying array of head-spins and mind-boggles. Leighton is crafty and shrewd in the plotting and execution of this truly unexpected and inventive treasure trove of chills, thrills and romance. What else could I say? A lot -- but I'm going to forego spilling the goods. The plotting will hold your attention from the jump and doesn't let go. You'll want to blindly make your way through this one for the maximum effect.

FBI Agent Noah Williamson is a broken man. And he's on the hunt for a killer, a body -- or maybe two. His search has led him from Maryland to the windy city of Chicago. And he's got his eye on the waitress at the local neighborhood diner.

Poppy Blackwell is the waitress that catches Noah's eye, and she enjoys the attention Noah gives her. At first glance, Poppy appears quiet, shy and lonely. But as her secrets are revealed, you'll be shocked senseless.

Poppy's aggressively sexual roommate, Simone, has her sights on Noah as well. And she's neither shy or reserved. Before long, Noah finds himself caught up in something he never saw coming. No, you won't find a romantic triangle . . . but you will be caught in a web of deceit.

The characters are in their early to mid-thirties bringing a more mature feel along with solid years of back history. Told in dual points of view from both Noah and Poppy, the story packs a punch like few I've experienced. A soul deep love story dealing with dark elements of psychological disorders. Expect plenty of twists and turns, surprises from one page to the next, all powerfully conveyed.

It’s rare to find a novel that’s so harrowing and both moving and sympathetic at the same time, but that is exactly what the author has done in this instance. Combining passion and peril, an imaginative and moving tale ensues of courage and true love, forgiveness and redemption. The clues dangle just out of reach and by the time the unexpected conclusion arrives, you're practically gasping for air.

It's a thrill a minute and swallowed me up from the get-go. The writing is masterful -- what I've come to expect from Michelle Leighton. A jaw-dropping reading experience and one I can't recommend highly enough.

Oh Wow! This was so much more than I expected when I started this book!

It was an emotional, mysterious, suspenseful, passionate, and surprising love story. I was just reading along enjoying what seemed like the usual "damaged people finding a connection" story, then all of a sudden...TWIST! Whoa! I never saw it coming! I started rethinking, remembering, and analyzing. The story took a whole different path than I thought. Secrets are gradually revealed. There are several more twists and surprises. There is tragedy heartbreak, pain, and grief, but there is also a strong bond, love, passion, and tenderness.

Poppy is a waitress in a diner. She is sweet, caring, and not very adventurous. Every day a man named Noah comes and sits in her station. He is quiet, haunted, observant, and respectful...and very attractive.

Noah's life has been plagued by pain and nightmares. He is tortured, grieving, angry, and mysterious. He has not been able to move on from the past. The time spent around Poppy brings a bit of light to his days. They are both guarded, but her broken parts are drawn to his. Both of them could use something good in their lives. Both need hope and healing. And both are afraid and unsure.

A tentative, slow, and sometimes awkward relationship begins to form. With sweet dates and more time spent together, their previously numb feelings begin to awaken and passion starts to become unleashed. They are two damaged and broken people finding a connection for sure. But there is so much more to their story

At the core of this for me was Noah. His tragic past. His determination. His care and protectiveness. He is a broken man, but does know what he needs. But he has to be careful on how he proceeds so as not to hurt her. I got more and more attached to him as the story went on. Poppy is kind and timid, a dreamer and a thinker. But she also has her own secrets and issues. They burn hot and bring warmth back to each other's lives. But as the truth starts slowly coming out, things get messy and unpredictable. There are so many variables and pieces to the puzzle. It pushes the limits on the things people will do for love.

The characters are complex and have many layers to them. This book is swirling with intense emotions. It is unique, unpredictable, and compelling. The prologue successfully sucked me right in and the unraveling of this multidimensional story held my attention. It makes you think, but also really feel. It is different than this author's other books, but she has been known to throw a twist or two at her readers in the past. But I think she one-upped herself on this one. I am still reeling over it because I am usually really good at picking up details and figuring out twists early, but this one never even crossed my mind. And I love it when an author can shock me.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Tragedy can catapult your life in ways that you never could have predicted. When that tragedy results in the loss of a child, no one can imagine the pain and despair that results from that event. Noah Williamson knows the pain of loss. In fact – he has experienced more than his fair share. How he carries on will the deciding factor on how his future will be impacted from the past.

Loss has led Noah to the diner that he finds himself visiting every morning. Each morning like clockwork, Noah walks into the diner and heads straight to the section of the diner where he knows that Poppy will be working. With a pull towards the waitress, Noah cannot help but try to make conversation with Poppy with each passing day. A slow moving task, but one that leaves them both wondering more about the other.

Poppy doesn’t know a lot about the man that frequents her section of the diner. She can tell you what his food and beverage preferences are, but cannot really tell you anything more intimate about the man that pulls her face into a smile. What Poppy does notice is the fractured soul of a man that is in that diner day in and day out. Noah’s blue eyes have a story to tell, and Poppy isn’t opposed to being the one to delve into his heart.

When Noah asks Poppy to meet him outside of the diner, confusion and curiosity wreck her brain. An anticipation to learn more about the elusiveness that Noah exhibits. Knowing nothing about his man should send up warning flags to Poppy…..only it doesn’t. What she didn’t expect was the slow pace to which Noah led their venture upon. If only Poppy would have know what secrets were lurking beyond their meeting. Would she have taken Noah up on his request? Time has its own way of revealing the past, and Noah and Poppy are about to shatter that barrier in the most unexpected of ways.

Wow……just wow!! First let me start by saying that Michelle Leighton took the style of writing that she has done in the past and turned it upside down. The Way We Burn was nothing like I expected, and everything that I didn’t realize I ‘needed’. A story that is engaging with a twist so profound, the revelation left me reeling!
This is definitely that ‘one novel’ that has a story that’s just waiting to escape with written words. Get ready to be glued to your readers because everything you THINK you know going into this story will be turned on its head. A fantastic journey that Michelle Leighton has penned with such ease it should really be a sin!! Trust me….add this one to your MUST READ list today!!

The Way We Burn is a deliciously enticing romance that took me by surprise and had my mouth gaping at one point in shock.

Holy hannah, this book. It's one of those books that will immediately grab your attention. But the kicker with this one is that when you least expect it, when you think that all the twists and turns and WTF's that continously happen in this story are done. BAM you are hit with the motherload of revelations that changes absolutely everything you thought you knew and it makes this story even better.

Not only that it will make you replay, rewind everything you read up until that certain point just to see what you might have missed. As far as romantic thrillers goes this is one of the best.

M. Leighton writes some strong characters in this one and lays it all out there for you to absorb.

From almost the get go when Noah walks into the diner you can feel the chemistry but at the same time you are immediately intrigued with where this story will go.

"She has no idea what the sound of my name on her lips does to me, and I have no intention of telling her."

Noah has a tortured past, it's filled with tragedy and you feel his losses even though you might now know the entire story. You just know he's hurting.

Poppy is drawn to him and even though your not sure the why or the how you can feel that these two have something between them and I was just dying to find out where things would go.

"...I realize that there will be no planning with this man. No planning for him. Thre will be no preparations I can make, no precautions I can take. No rehearsed lines or reactions or maneuvers.
He will take me by storm, like a hurricane, and that's that.
So I give up, I give in.
To it, to him
And I let go.
It is my time to risk falling. And pray for the flying."

This book is exciting, it's thrilling, it's curious and it's shocking. And I absolutely loved this. It was a completely different read for me then what I've been reading these last few days and it was just what I needed as I've been in a bit of a reading funk.

This is the way we burn, baby. We burn together, or not at all."

With multi layered characters, twists, turns and one hell of a plot twist The Way We Burn is an amazing and a definite must read if you love romantic suspense.

OMG!!! This book was fantastic! Hands down one of the best romantic suspense books I’ve read this year!

I couldn’t put it down and those twists!! I was not expecting that at all. I definitely won’t be forgetting about Noah and Poppy anytime soon.

Great Job Michelle! I’m not easily shocked and you did just that!

If you love suspense, twists and turns with just enough heat to make you hot then you need to read The Way We Burn!

Michelle Leighton takes her writing to a whole new level. This book was riveting. And will leave you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the very end. I couldn't put it down. It's nothing like she's written thus far. Nothing is what you expect. So make sure you pay close attention. Left me wanting more.
