Lily Pond Lane #3

The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane - Autumn Leaves: Part Three

Rate this book
Escape to the seaside village of Little Pondale with Part Three of this heart-warming and romantic, four-part serial.

Mia Ward was amazed to inherit her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale – especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt Matilda. She was equally astonished to discover she’d only inherit the place if she lives there for a year.

But it didn’t take long for Mia and her friends, Ella and Garrick to settle in. Now Mia’s mum, Lori has joined them, and they’re all enjoying village life. Mia’s keen to overcome her fear of water and with Garrick by her side, she’s confident about the future.

Until a fortune teller’s predictions give everyone cause for concern. Now Mia’s not so sure of anything, except that someone still wants her to leave. That makes her more determined to learn all she can about Matilda – and the codicil.

But as the mists roll in over the sea, are autumn winds making passions cool? And when more than one unexpected visitor gives Mia a shocking surprise, is everything about to change?

5 Enchanting Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It was so nice to be back in Lily Pondale at Sunbeam cottage with these fabulous characters! At the end of the last book Mia and friends visited a fortuneteller... what did the fortuneteller see in their future? And do these fortunes come true? This is the third book in this four part serial... I would strongly encourage you to read these books in order, otherwise you will truly be lost.... not to mention you will want to spend every minute possible with these delightful characters!

This was probably my favorite book in this serial so far... I love the addition of Lori, Mia’s mother she is quite the character... this book was also filled with many surprising plot twists all taking the story in the direction I wanted it to go... don’t you love when an author can read your mind? We also got to know a little bit more about mysterious Aunt Matilda and her intriguing past... it is quite amazing how much fabulousness is packed into this little book....

It’s hard for me to properly gush when I don’t want to give anything away... just know this is a delightful story set in a charming village filled with engaging characters... from first page to last you feel as though you are living in this village and friends with these characters...

The fourth book is sitting on my Kindle but I think I’m putting it off because I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters...

Absolutely recommend this enchanting serial... perfect for reading poolside in the summer or fireside in the autumn!

5☆ I never want to leave!

Autumn Leaves is the 3rd instalment in The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane Series.
You definitely need to read these parts in order as there is no recap so it will be confusing as it starts where the last left off.

I was thrilled to be back with Mia and her friends. It felt like I never left! I was so excited to get my hands on part 3 I devoured it in one night!

The book opens with Mia trying to work out what the fortune tellers predictions mean.
Ella, Mia's best friend also had her fortune told along with Mia's Mum Lori.

I can't give any more away as I could easily let a spoiler out by accident.

But what I will say is, the quirky characters are like friends I now know them so well.
I loved Mia's Mum, shes care free and has a younger man! No one is ever too old to find love and happiness!

There Is still plenty of twists to keep the reader enthralled, a good dash of Mystery and drama with a sprinkle of romance and love. The perfect combination for the perfect series.

Bring on part 4, I am itching to get reading it! Keep an eye out for the upcoming review!

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Book Reviewed by Stacey on www.whisperingstories.com

After their visit to the fortune teller at the end of the last book, ‘Summer Secrets‘, Mia, Ella, Garrick, and Lori are in very different head spaces.

Mia doesn’t want to talk about what the psychic told her. She loves Garrick but in her heart, she knows she also has feelings for Jet and the psychic has spotted this.

Ella is off planning her future life with boyfriend Justin after the information the psychic told her, but Justin has started avoiding her and he seems to be cooling towards her. She believes he is the man she will spend her life with – Surely he is the one the psychic was telling her about? She was also told she will soon become an Aunt and believes that Mia is pregnant and with Mia realising that she never got her contraceptive injection before heading to Little Pondale, could she be right?

Garrick is also being overly coy about what he was told and starts rushes into decisions about his future and Mia’s, but does Mia have the heart to tell him to slow down?

Lori it seems is the only one ecstatic about what she was told, she has gone for a very long time without love since her husband and Mia’s father died, now she is ready to open her heart to a younger, American man.

Once again we return to Little Pondale in this third book in The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane series and join in the lives of the newest residents as their lives become even more complicated than they already were. We also get to discover more about Mattie, Mia’s Great Aunt and some of the secrets she was hiding.

These last three books have been a real pleasure to read. The main characters have all been a joy to get to know, as well as the villagers. I now look forward to reading book four Trick or Treat and hope that Mia gets the answers both about Mattie and her future that she is looking for.

My Rating:

4.5

Favorite Quotes:

‘Now before you mention the age difference, darling, we’re both well aware of that. But does age really matter? What’s that saying? Age is only a number.’ Ella went from looking astonished to amused. ‘You’re only as old as the man you’re feeling. Which makes you about thirty-seven or something, doesn’t it?’

I would’ve been like one of those women in the Rom/Coms on TV. You know. Pleading with everyone at the airport to stop Franklin’s plane, then clambering over the barriers when they won’t, and racing along the tarmac. And for a sixty-year-old, that’s not a good look.

My surname’s Swann and his is Lake. Swann Lake, get it? We’re clearly going to get married and I’m going to have one of those arty-farty double-barrelled surnames. I’m going to be Mrs Ella Swann-Lake! I love it!

She came bouncing out of that tent like a bunny with too many batteries stuffed up her backside

He’s French by birth, he said, but he didn’t sound French. Sounded as if he’d spent too much time in Oxford and got a punting pole stuck up his bum. Very prim and proper.

My Review:

Love was in the air all about the little village and stunning changes and shocking revelations were par for the course. The fortune-teller’s startlingly accurate predictions were on everyone’s minds although not all were welcoming the insights. I adore this quirky cast of characters and continue to gleefully enjoy each new development, interaction, and discovery in attempting to solve the mystery of the stealthy ninety-nine-year-old Great Aunt Matilda, who appears to have had more than just a colorful past. The writing continues to amuse, entertain, and intrigue in equal measure. The series is not quite complete and this installment ended rather abruptly, although, surprisingly, I’m not huffing in pique since I already have the next volume loaded. And, oh happy day, my new addition to my Brit list is an idiom I’ve never noticed before “thrown the cat among the pigeons,” which Wikipedia informs me refers to the addition of an unwanted or undesirable person to a group. Like me with my in-laws…

Sweet, twisty and enchanting!

In this third novel in The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane series, Autumn Leaves, we're back in the charming village of Little Pondale where fortune-teller predictions, unanticipated guests, and unimagined secrets are causing a little unrest and have Mia and her friends suddenly questioning love and pondering their future.

The writing is smooth and emotive. The characters are unique, gregarious, and endearing. And the alluring plot is an enthralling blend of drama, mystique, surprises, village gossip, romance, and adventure.

Overall, Autumn Leaves is a smart, mysterious, beautifully written tale that is highly entertaining and another fabulous addition to The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane series.

Thank you to Emily Harvale and Rachel's Random Resources for providing me with a copy in an exchange for an honest review.

I have been counting the days down until I got my hands on part three of The Cottage On Lily Pond lane and it didn’t disappoint.

Everything seemed to be falling into place for Mia and her friends when we last saw them so I wondered what was going to be in store for them and us when we catch back up. The author certainly doesn’t disappoint as there was lots of unexpected plot twits that had me racing through the pages as I had to know what was going to happen next.

Its hard to say too much about the story as with it being split into parts, I don’t want to ruin it for people who haven’t yet read this one or the previous two parts before this. All I can say is that I have really enjoyed the story so far and I am now desperate for the last part to complete it all and to know how it is going to end for the characters.

The Cottage On Lily Pond Lane, part three, has been a fabulously entertaining read that as soon as I pick up, I lose myself into the pages. The characters are like good friends or family and I really have enjoyed seeing how things develop for them all. This is such a feel good read that totally captures the readers mind and heart.

My thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Ooh, this was a good un! So, as usual things are happening fast in Little Pondale, with everyone and their mother (literally) falling in love all over the place. I’ll be honest, I have never seen so many people decide they’re in love and ready for marriage and the happy ever after as opposed to simply liking someone or asking them on a date, but I digress. This is most definitely my favourite of the series so far as a fortune teller that seems to be bang on the mark causes absolute chaos by telling most of our characters something that has them thinking, most of them getting it quite wrong!

Mia is once again thrown off as we try to figure out who we can trust (at this stage I’m firmly in the X Files aka ‘Trust no one’ camp). There’s drama aplenty, including some that makes me want to bang people’s heads together (no spoilers here so I’m not telling you who) and also it makes me firmly believe that one person needs to be out of the running for Mia’s affections because they are getting on my last nerve!!

Loads of romance, mystery and I moved straight onto book 4. As always, very much recommended!

Raing: 4.5/5

It is lovely to return to the Cottage on Lily Pond Lane once more and I had no trouble picking up the threads of the story. By now, the characters feel familiar but there are also a few new additions to get to know, especially Mia's Mum who comes to stay. Relationships move on quite a bit in this novella but as ever, it is not always an easy ride.

The mystery around Mia's great-aunt Matilda persists and I am looking forward to finding out the whole story in Part Four. As before, it is an enjoyable and fairly quick read with some well drawn characters and the odd surprise, For a summer holiday escape, it fits the bill.

In short: A tangled romance, full of fun and friendship.

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.

This is part three of the Lily Pond Lane Series and I really do recommend that you read them all in order to get the most out of the story.

I am really enjoying this series as it progresses and we get to read more and more about the characters and their lives. The village has some brilliant characters and I am thoroughly enjoying the interaction. This was a delight to read and I am really looking forward to reading the fourth part now!

4.5 stars from me rounded up to 5 stars for Goodreads and Amazon – another enjoyable addition to the series!

So here we are back at Lily Pond Lane for part three of this series, Autumn Leaves. It’s always comforting picking up with characters we have come to know and refreshing to add a few more questions into the mix. The reason behind the bequest is still to be found, just why did Great Aunt Matilda think Mia is worthy of the cottage?

Yet again this is a nice short easy to read slice of the story, with one more to come we should be able to wind it all up and join the pieces together and solve the mystery. I suspect there may be a hint of Christmas somewhere along the lines as well. Some people prefer a full length book but I quite value the sections in small doses so long as I can remember who is who when I come back to Pondale!

If you want a sweet story, pick up the first book and work your way through. Instead of waiting a couple of weeks in between releases you could wait and buy them all so you can read it as one, entirely dependent on preferences. Either way there are ample people and situations to get your teeth into, a perfect little read while you enjoy a cup of tea or a cold drink near the pool.

My thanks to the author and Rachel from Random Resources for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I've been really looking forward to the next part of this series, and I wasn't disappointed!

The third instalment begins with Mia, Ella, Garrick, her mum - and indeed, the whole village - attending the local fete. Amidst the attractions, one of the most popular is the fortune teller who seems to have an uncanny knack with her predictions. Not everyone is good at sharing what they were told, but without a doubt everyone is affected.

Time has moved on to autumn in Little Pondale and Mia and Garrick are still a romantic item; Ella is cosying up and even Lori has a glow about her. Village life continues as usual .. all you have to do is breathe a thought and every resident knows about it. Mia continues with her quest to find out more about Mattie, the great-aunt she never knew about whose bequest is the reason why they are living in Sunbeam Cottage. It's lovely to re-acquaint ourselves with all the locals as well as the main characters and this book sees plenty happening with some discoveries and a new range of questions popping up, priming the reader for the final read in the series, which I'm so looking forward to.

This is a well thought-out read, split into bite size pieces - each well planned and beautifully written. The varied characters are wonderfully created and very entertaining. This author weaves a fine tale with plenty of fun, laughter and a good mystery - or two - thrown in!

My thanks to Rachel's Random Resources both for my copy and for inviting me to be a part of this Blog Tour. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

The weather may be cooling down in Little Pondale as the seasons change but events are hotting up! After their readings by the fortune teller at the summer fayre, everyone seems to be on edge and reluctant to reveal what she predicted for them, especially as a lot of the predictions start to come true – it has really stirred up a hornet’s nest in the little community. I love how spooked everyone is by the prophecies, it really fits in with the small community mentality. There is a lovely innocence and naivety in the scenario which is very appealing.

This series continues to be enchanting as Mia makes new friends and overcomes some of her fears as the year moves from summer to autumn. Her love life is not going as smoothly and at times I got quite frustrated with her as she struggles to admit her true feelings to herself, as well as those around her, but that is part of the fun of the book, watching the characters going wrong and wondering how they are going to put things right! There are lots of exciting revelations to keep the book moving forwards but still enough unanswered questions to make you impatient for the next instalment – my favourite kind of book that keeps you racing from page to page!

Emily continues to introduce new characters in to the story to keep things fresh, as well as developing the plots and challenges for the existing ones and I am just as invested as I was after book one. I am desperate to get to the denouement now and find out what Aunt Matilda’s big secret is – especially after the revelations in this latest instalment – and we still haven’t found out who is behind the unpleasant pranks that keep being played on Mia and I have to say I am none the wiser! There is also the big will they, won’t they on the romance front to be decided, so lots to look forward to in the final part.

This series continues to exceed my expectations and I am really enjoying it and as eager for the final book, if not more so, than I was in the beginning. Keep up the good work, Emily, I am desperate to find out how it all ends. Happily I hope!

By now you may have read my other reviews of the previous books in this series and it may not be a surprise to all of you that I'm still loving it.

With each book I got this feeling that was getting closer and closer to the characters, they feel like they are friends, family or just acquaintances. In this book I felt even more connected to the small town, like I was living there and part of the group.

Mia's relationships (friendship and romantic) keep getting better and better, and I honestly can't comment on the particular aspects of that because I want you guys to go read the series and go through the motions of her busy (and crazy) life, from book one until this third book, but I can guarantee that you will love every development as much as I did.

And if you are wondering about Aunt Matilda (Mattie)... Well, Emily doesn't forget about her in this book. We get more information about her and the mystery keeps going, and that's something I love about this series.

Emily has a way of making the story light and at the same time it keep us curious with the mystery and the amazingly engaging characters. And I applaud her for the fantastic work in this third part of the series.

It makes you feel as if you have return home every time you read a book in the series, and this book wasn't different.

*Spoiler Alert*

Wow, So I had to get on here right after I read this one. I love Emily Harvale's books. So much emotion packed into one little book. Heck so much happened in one or 2 maybe tiny weeks. anyways, so last book we saw Garrick and Mia get together and become a couple and Justin and Ella got together as well. But then we have Jet who is loitering on the fringes of Mia's relationship with Garrick and Mia. I mean it is obvious that Mia likes Jet and then Jet taunts her. He flirts but pulls back at just the right time. In this book, Jet basically tells Mia he is in love with her but also tells her there would never be a future for them. Jet is simply not interested in marriage or having a family or being a long term relationship. So why tell someone you are deeply in love with them and not do anything about it? I hope we find out in The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane Part 3.
Oh yes, some other things happen in the book. Like Mattie's laptop is returned to Mia and from the laptop they learn that Mattie spied on Mia all her life through spyware that was somehow downloaded onto Mia's computer. They think she was some kind of spy for the government. Also, and I won't spill the beans with this one, something comes into Ella, Mia, and Garrick's life that simply turns their entire lives upside down. Can't wait for part 4. Have to wait another month for that one!

When Part Two of this series finished, I grabbed Part Three so quick as it was left on such an amazing cliffhanger and I just couldn't wait to hear what happened next! This cover is probably my favourite so far, I love the orange sky lit up with fireworks. It's cosy and makes you think of warm nights snuggled up reading!

I think I enjoyed this novella the most out of the whole series so far! There was just so much drama from start to finish and I was so intrigued to find out what was going on in the little village. Who knew so much could happen in one tiny village?! I've been going through these novella's like there's no tomorrow and I've been loving every single page. I can't believe I hadn't read these before - I don't know what's taken me so long!

In this novella, we learn more about Mattie than we ever did before and there's so much happening for poor Mia, I don't know how she's still standing! I loved the mystery behind the fortune teller, and how everyone was shifty about what was said. It makes you want to read on so much more! I also loved the fact that it was autumn but it was described as still quite warm, so it was nice to read about the events still despite the time of year.

I still have part four to read, and I believe another two after that so watch this space! The speed I'm getting through these I'll have a review up once a week next week at this point! All I can say for now is that they're definitely worth the read. I'm loving this author so far and her style of writing is so easy to read and lighthearted so it makes it so much more enjoyable.

I know I must sound like a broken record, but I can’t help it. Emily Harvale has really grabbed my heart with this little series! There is so much packed into the pages of this book from Mia’s uncertainty about her love life to the continued mystery of Mattie.

The book opens pretty much right where Part 2 ended. Mia is still worried and thinking about what the fortune teller had to share with her. Will her predictions become truth? And, if so, where does that leave her? She will find out soon enough with a few twists thrown in. All of the regular characters are back, and I was so glad to be back in that charming village with them. I’m purposely not really delving deep into Mia’s relationship issues. I REALLY don’t want to ruin anything.

As with the earlier books, this one grabbed my attention from the very beginning...new clues emerge, and Harvale does an outstanding job of creating more questions as some appeared to be answered. Just like with all the other books, I’m so excited for the next one in the series. AND SURPRISE….Part 4 is already out!!!!

What a fun five-star read. I read parts three and four together, so am reviewing them as a pair, as I honestly don’t know where one ended and the other started, as they have such a great flow. My goodness Great Aunt Matilda, what a dark horse you are, what a character I would love to have dinner and drinks with, you just know the stories she would have would be amazing. Mia was a little annoying at times, but then I realised that she is very like me and goes off into her own head while explaining and only reveals half the details, a great way of keeping people on the hook. Honestly as this story goes and flows it just gets better and better, I adored all of the characters, they each play a different part of the village make-up, and they all have a really important part, no matter how small as in the case of Prince Gustaf. This is great story, and the author has a great way of weaving a tale, that makes you smile and makes you care about every single moment.

The story was an easy read, though I felt parts of it dragged with unnecessary details before getting to the heart of the plot. While I didn’t predict the breakup, it didn’t surprise me either—Garrick was just so boring that it was hard to care about him as a character.

What really left me conflicted was Fiona’s decision to take back a man who was engaged to someone else. It felt rushed and unrealistic—packing their bags and leaving to live happily ever after just didn’t add up for me. If that relationship is meant to succeed, it’s definitely not something I can relate to.

Despite these flaws, I found the story intriguing enough to keep me curious about what’s next. I kind of like Jed—he’s definitely more interesting (then Garrick) and has a touch of mystery about him. I’ll likely take a short break before picking up the next book, but I am looking forward to seeing how the series evolves.

Audible (part 3 and 4 in one)
Found the narrator annoying and when reading part 1 and 2 thought maybe If I’d read this myself I might have rated it higher, however the farcical events of part 3 and 4 make me think not!

Also coming to the conclusion that many of Christie Barlow’s book feature women who go from one man to another and back again and who frustrate me as a main character, And that sex seems to bulk out the book

Back to fabulous!

I adored part one, liked part two and part three is right up there with part one for me. I downloaded the whole series/serial on a whim and I've got to admit, it's certainly one of my better whims!!!!! Things are beginning to get a lot clearer with the characters and I'm off to read part four!

This story was a bit far fetched for me. These adults are all falling in insta-love and it’s just a bit more than I can handle. I do hope the mystery wraps up in the next book - who is Mattie and who wants Mia gone? I also hope the next book is a bit heavier on that plot line. Lori is my favorite character so far and the random women on the beach lol! On to the next one I guess!

My fave chapter yet! I was definitely right to be intrigued as to what came next. I guessed right, what a rollercoaster and Mia really went through the ringer.

I was very pleased for Mia overcoming her fears though and learning more about Matilda's potential past life.

I still have reservations on Tom though... But I am really glad Laurie is getting her second wind happiness.
