F*CK BUDDY

Rate this book
Luke and I had been best friends since kindergarten. He was the type of man women dreamed of - kind, caring, handsome and very protective of those he loved. After countless failed relationships, I grew tired of being single and made my proposition to him. Friends with benefits.

It wasn't easy, but I convinced him to give the new 'relationship' a try.

He had two stipulations. One - we had to remain friends no matter what. And, two - sexually speaking, we had to play by his 'rules'...

I knew Luke was unlike any other man, but being in a relationship with him opened my eyes and made me realize many things about myself. My name is Liv. This is the story of how I fell in love for the first time in my life and the man who caught me when I did.

Fuck Buddy is a stand-alone from best friends to lovers contemporary romance. It is NOT a smut fest or senseless book filled with senseless sex. It does, however, have sex scenes that are smoldering hot. No cliff hanger. HEA. No sex outside the relationship, no cheating, no assholes, and no abuse to women. Due to the graphic nature of this book, please be over the age of 18 to enjoy it.

~My 5 STAR REVIEW~

"We're friends. It has to stay that way. No matter what."

description

Fuck Buddy is a unique read full of passion, intense pleasure, raw desire, and abiding love. The combination of the sexy title and my appreciation for the naturalistic writing style of this author made reading this book a no-brainer! Once you begin this journey, the story holds you down and compresses every ounce of emotion and desire until the very last second of release.

description

Luke is a surfer who loves the beach and his best friend, Liv. Liv is a young graphic designer who also loves the beach and her best friend, Luke. When she finds herself stranded emotionally due to her lack of "dick," she proposes the unthinkable.

"I swear, we should just date each other."

Although he has made every effort to suppress his desire to be with her, the stars align, and Luke decides to cast off his worries and agrees to succumb to their mutual physical desires. What happens when best friends become "fuck buddies"?

"I felt my pussy clench against his throbbing shaft, providing its own thank you for being here."

description

The sexual desires of both Luke and Liv are certainly beyond the norm, and yet, together they find balance sexually, emotionally, and mentally. As the plot in Fuck Buddy continues to evolve, you will easily recognize that this read is so much more than just "another sexy book." The complex characters paired with the well-crafted plot kept me engaged the entire read. The delicate balance of friends to lovers is certainly a subject matter in books that I tend to avoid. I am always afraid that the read will evolve into an angsty labyrinth of pain. (That may sound dramatic, and yet, it is truly how I feel.) Rest assured, Fuck Buddy is anything but angsty. Instead, it is a love story of two best friends that finally find their way home. There is truly nothing better!

"And remember, things always have their own way of working out."

description

Overall, I highly recommend Fuck Buddy to anyone who enjoys smoking hot sex scenes and real romance. Luke and Liv's journey was heartfelt and remarkable. Once again, I am amazed by the versatility of Mr. Hildreth. Every single read is unique, well developed, and unforgettable. Get your Kindles charged and run to Amazon now. This is one sexy love story you will not want to miss!

P.S. This book should be read in a secure location. You will thoroughly enjoy the way Luke likes to "love" on Liv. (wink-wink)

Jesus am I really the only one that didn't like this ish and it's bitch of a heroine?

First I was really excited about this book. Fuck buddies? Friends to lurrrrrvers? Fuck yeah. I have a few men in my life I'd really like to what they look like naked, ya know?

Before wanting to RAGE KICK my e-reader across the room multiple times....I found it rather boring. In between conversations the author drones on with descriptives, making the conversations drag. I found myself skipping most of it because it couldn't keep my interest. The sex was weird and felt stunted because of it. In fact in one of the sex scenes the MC's even got bored with themselves. Not promising.

Now to the reason for the rage (sorry it's rather long and convoluted)....

Luke and Liv have been bff's since the 4th grade. At 25, after a slew of Tinder fails Liv decides her and Luke should just fuck for lack of better. Though of course, they both secretly want the other. Okayyyy. But Luke isn't completely on board as he's a sexual deviant and doesn't want it to ruin their friendship as it did his one and only relationship. He's also been celibate since that relationship ended years ago but apparently he's so zen he doesn't need sex. Okayyyyy. His sexual kink is mental confusion? Errrr....he likes to fuck while trying to get Liv to stay focused. While trying to live up to Luke's desires and doing some research on the internets Liv discovers she's a submissive and likes to be choked. So during one extremely weird bout of awkward fucking Luke chokes her and then starts slapping her yelling "For fucks sake Luke, focus" and then ding, ding, ding!!! But of course....cue overused plot device. Like I didn't see that shit coming. Luke was sexually abused by his Mother in an attempt to get him to stay focused on school and homework she would do things to him until he was able to get it done no matter what she did. She abused him all thru school and didn't stop until Luke caught her doing the same to his little brother and beat the shit out of her. Yay! Dad finds out and they divorce but nothing else is mentioned as to what the father did about it. Apparently she moved away and goes about her life. Okayyyy. So long story short after an accident occurs to a sibling the Mom shows up and Luke loses his shit. The siblings and Dad don't seem to have a problem with her being there and his sisters act as though Luke is being dramatic and seem to still have a relationship with her. Okayyyyy. They've been besties for 15 years and she never fucking wondered what happened to his Mother? Why he hardly goes around his family? Why he never goes to his families home? It wasn't hard to pick up on especially if you pair all of that with the things he said while hurting her? Hmmmmkay. So Luke makes the bad decision to open up to Liv who then does what? Freaks the fuck out, dumps Luke because he's now gross and his sexual desires are wrong. THAT SPINELESS FUCKING BITCH makes a horrible intensely personal traumatic experience all about her. She has one friend other than Luke who pretty much bitch slaps her for doing it which I LOVED! But when she goes to talk to Luke and she tells him how what happened to him made HER feel he kisses HER ASS. She doesn't even apologize for her appalling behavior. I wanted to rip every fucking hair out of her head piece by piece. The selfish fucking twat. Her friend told her that she should have Luke finally confront the Mom so they could move on. They do but Liv completely takes it over and you guess it makes it all about her AGAIN. The kicker? She automatically stops thinking Luke is gross and Luke's sexual deviancy is miraculously healed. Uh huh.

In case you haven't guessed it....I fucking hated Liv. She's a selfish, insecure little twatknuckle. When someone you love tells you something like that, that is not how you support and be there for someone you love. I'm disgusted and fucking appalled that not only has the author chosen to basically allude to the fact that if you like rough sex it stems from sexual abuse...this is simply not true. Though a small amount of abuse survivors use BDSM as a means to heal and to take back power and control that they feel they lost....how it was played out here was horribly done. The way he wrote Liv's response and Luke's reaction to her was just shameful imho. If I told my partner what happened to me and they treated me that way...they would be gone. No one gets to make me feel as though something is wrong with me because of what was done to ME. That's another kind of abuse in my opinion. Do you have any idea how many people are fucking terrified of telling people because of being afraid of that same reaction? That could've been handled with more compassion as it is a highly sensitive subject for many. Very disappointed with this book and its author.

★★★★½! Fuck-buddy (stand-alone). It seems like a good idea but neither one is prepared for the aftermath of mind-blowing sex, deeper feelings nor secrets!

“He stood before me, stroking his cock as he waited for an answer. Luke. My best friend. My best friend with added benefits.”

Fuck Buddy (stand-alone) is a fast paced, scorching hot tale about two friends with an itch to scratch who decide to become fuck-buddies while trying to maintain their friendship. Operative word: trying.

Best friends since childhood Luke and Liv have observed each other’s different approach to dating, neither successful. Him, the free spirit with secrets and kinky proclivities. Her, the habitual dater with a horrendous luck with men.

Until one day they decide to just become fuck-buddies. They cover their bases with rules and Luke even discloses ha has a kinky and devious side.

The story goes on to follow them as they fuck their way into tomorrow. In fact, they fuck like there is no tomorrow… Both set on protecting a life-long friendship until secrets and pasts come back to haunt them…

Seven words to describe Luke: Charming, noble, commanding, secretive, unassuming, free-spirit and sweet.

Seven words to describe Liv: Flexible, curious, strong, wishy-washy, naïve, easy-going and indecisive.

Fuck Buddy, told from dual POVs, is a sizzling tale with a good portion of romance and pinch of angst as Liv gets to enjoy all that is sex with Luke. It ends on a high after a bit of a roller-coaster.

Sexy! Hot! Kinky! Sexy! Hot! Kinky! Did I mention sexy and hot?

“As I waddled to the bathroom, I was further reminded of just how big Luke’s cock really was.”

Definitely a 5 "wouldn't want him any other way" stars

this will go directly onto my favorite books shelf...

Scott Hildreth is an author that always gives a hidden message inside his stories – sometimes I don't quite fully relate to the story presented so the message stays hidden
BUT fortunately more often I do relate to the story and thank fuck I find MY message in it, it might not be the ultimate one BUT it's the one I find that works for me and that is the point.

Regarding the Fuck buddy here, if you 'd simply stay on one straight road of hanging onto the title, you 'd probably think, there's sex and smut everywhere and probably wouldn't expect anyting more as it is. And than you'd read the blurb to confirm the notion you primarely got from the title.
BUT you'd be wrong in both cases.

So, here's what I got from it, concerning that, I am totally subjective and this review is actually for ME *shrugs* or as my friend Lizzie would say #sorryNOTsorry.

The story of two best friends Luke (a surfer, who owns a surfboard shop on the beach and makes them by custom order.
My life, one board at a time, was on display for all to see. But, no differently than when a person watched me surf, the observer had no idea what was beyond the surface of what they were seeing.

He's a cool dude that stays in an „old-fashioned“mode of following his own rules to live fully – ocean, surfing and Liv)
He wasn't willing to accept or even discuss subtle changes regarding his clothes, food, beliefs in technology or music. He liked what he liked and he believed what he believed. It was just who Luke was.

and Olivia/Liv (a young woman who „loved“ and „longed“ for her best friend like 4ever) that finally decide to step up into their relationship, both being somewhat disappointed with their past ones and at one point felt safe to extend the label of friendship.

By saying this you'd still get nothing...on the notion what that's like, what it holds and what you could expect from the story.

BUT if I present it through my next few thoughts then I hope you' d get a hint of what I found soothing, refreshing, revealing and gratifying and what you might find as well
To have your best friend and your lover happen to be the same person is magical...There's nothing on this earth that can compare

I'd say those are the lucky ones that had the chance and stars above them aligned up for them at the right moment, for both to have the chemistry towards each other and for that chemistry to work for both of them in the same satisfying way. So that truly is magic and a blessing.
There's always that lingering feeling between two friends becoming lovers that all the „knowing“ would change and alter them from the starting point.
“We can't date, Liv. It's out of the question.“
„Because?“
„Because I can't risk losing you.“

So, the possible alternation is frightning, for sure, adding the sexual segment into smth that felt like a huge safe zone in interaction is truly a moment when you could start questioning yourself, especially if the feelings start to become sex-related, sex-interlinked or sex-changed and enhanced.
“Sex is sex. I mean, really. Nothing against you, but I don't see how it's going to be much different.“

Right?!
Well, no...cause the level of sexual interaction between Luke and Liv brings in a certain dose of spice, kink with a thurst of a little BDSM action mode that actually transmits another layer of self-discovery, with Liv, it's a total deliverance notion of what she's open to sexually, of what she feels safe in doing with Luke based on the true feelings that she holds for him making it possible cause of the trust.
Not only was I in love with Luke, I was in love with what he provided me. Reassurance that who I was and what I was doing was exactly what he wanted and needed out of life.

BUT with Luke, it's a reflex operation mode, possibly NOT probably, triggered by the events in his past that he suppressed for a long time. And when that notion comes into the light, doubts, guilt and overthinking that Liv pulls actually threatens to destroy not only the sex realtionship but their friendship as well, being exactly the reason Luke was afraid of happening in the first place.
“What are you not willing to give up? You said you could lose surfing and the ocean and live through it. But what would crush you?
„What would crush me if i lost it? That's an easy one.“

 photo 970a44e3-e557-4aa2-8087-7ccec9984ca3_zpsxixcqokt.jpg

Things are escalading for both of them...
Because of you.

Both, Luke and Liv are growing in their own self-discoveries and in each other, casting aside the old insecurities, fears..

Luke wasn't only my best friend, sexual partner, and lover. He also protected me from myself without making me feel like an idiot. And for that reason alone, I loved him even more. – LIV

In looking back on what I allowed myself to feel – and to express – I realized ot only was I protecting Liv, i was attempting to protect myself. – LUKE

The acceptance and freedom in doing do was liberating for both of them...

He accepted me for who I was, and in doing so, he made me feel that it was okay to simply be me. – LIV

Together, Liv and I shared a love for the ocean, each other, family, and great sex. We may have lacked contrast, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Being in love with a woman who shared my interests, loves and desires was priceless. – LUKE

 photo 974cf20d-dee2-4580-9dbc-50b4d025123e_zps8cwc8pic.jpg

And I wouldn't want him any other way - LIV

This story shows us the real deal, the good and the bad, it pictures out the possible frames of characterisation that could play out in real life.

And to borrow the words from an ispirational singer JACK JOHNSON (who actually reminds me of Luke in the ways of expression and living the surf lifestyle)

 photo 023287bd-2a57-4b8e-be68-dc22342b7bc0_zpsapgf0o2y.png

Jack Johnson -"You and your heart"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeFJl...

This was a beautiful story for me personally, I didn't think it would make such an impact on me in the first place. I hoped I would find smth that means to me on some higher level and it turned out to be a full blast surprise.

I loved it. Truly.

So, in honor of freedom, the liberation of being able to love and cherish, the freedom of love itself, the incomparable notion of belonging and being your true self while doing it,
I will SURF AWAY, in style!

And Scott, THANK. YOU.

Why have I not read this author before?!? Something is clearly wrong with me because this book kicked ass!

Well this is yet another review that I've forgotten what I wanted to say in it so this will be short. But I can say how much I loved this reading experience. Scott Hildreth knows how to write some very sexy books, and this may have been my first from him but it certainly won't be my last. I loved getting to know these characters and seeing how wild they could get. There was so much passion between Luke and Liv that it made it impossible to put this book down.

From time to time, we encounter a book that sticks with us. Regardless of what we do after we read it, it's stuck in our mind like it actually 'happened'. We may even (I did, really) wake up in the middle of the night and try and figure out what the fuck happened.

Personally, I even looked around, confused, thinking Liv and Luke were in my room. It was eerie.

So, to the book.

Liv and Luke are best friends, and have been such since forever. Since childhood (second grade according to Liv, fourth according to Luke).

And, after one failed relationship on Luke's part, and a hundred on Liv's part, they decide to become fuck buddies. One concern of Luke's is that he may harm Liv.

You see, Luke is a sexual deviant.

It seems his first relationship failed because he 'liked weird shit'.

Liv, on the other hand, loves the challenge, and sees it as an opportunity to be with the man she has loved since she was a little kid. Her dream come true so to speak.

Well.

She had no idea what she signed on for.

The sex?

Yeah, she wasn't ready.

The reason behind the sex?

Yeah, she didn't see that coming either.

But they survive. And they grow. And they laugh. And they live.

Luke, a surfer, a free spirit, and a man with a great fucking heart, simply lives life at the beach, and trying to stay the hell out of everyone's way. he merely wants left alone.

Liv? She's funny, sharp, and a little (just a little) of a dimwit. Just enough to make you love her.

And Chloe, her dumb slut friend?

She steals the show.

This book made me think. It made me consider a few sexual scenarios that I would have otherwise not considered, and it made me stand up and scream for the little (big) guy.

A book that needs read, re-read, and re-re-read only because its that hot (scorching) that good (great) and that, well, unique.

Fuck yes.

I love it when a book makes me jump from my sleep like I'm being shot at.

FIVE fucking stars.

Sooo I'm always curious about male authors that write romance...wondering if they will do it justice. Don't ask me why I picked this one...there was just something about it.

Luke and Liv have grown up together and are best friends. Both have had relationships and dated but never each other. Liv realizes that they both happen to be single and suggests being f*ck buddies. Luke just can't say no.

But...there's a catch. Luke's sex life is not exactly vanilla. And the author is a bit fuzzy about things but basically Luke likes to torment his partners while having sex...not really sexually but emotionally. He claims he's a sadist but it's a bit more than that and explanations come later unfortunately.

So...this is where things are a little weird and I can see why some people have DNF'd (I even thought about it). Luke and Liv start having sex and he starts having her do different things so her mind is not really in the game. Then she wants to be choked while they're doing it and hey, why not throw a little back door loving in there. (*note* this is where I felt I could really tell the author was male. There is no softness and not even a "making love" scene thrown in.)

description

This was in the blurb:

"It is NOT a smut fest or senseless book filled with senseless sex. "

Ummm, yea...there is a whole lotta sex and yes, while some of it seems senseless ~ especially in the beginning ~ things do get better. Once we get to know Luke and Liv and find out what's behind Luke's special needs. This is when things became interesting....

And that leads to a bit of drama and I loved who Luke turned to for advice. Luke and Liv come together and make things worked and it ends really sweetly.

*another note* Don't be turned off by the page count on Goodreads...there is another book included. F*ck Buddy is only 275 pages.

No. I couldn't continue with this book, why? Well, I couldn't connect with the character, hell I couldn't even do that with the story. It jumped so fast into the relationship, that I couldn't keep up. I mean, the story jumped straight into the friends with benefits, you didn't get to see how they were as friends, just straight to the benefits. I really couldn't understand why they were friends at all, or why it has lasted so long. It also went really quickly to friends to more, with them just having what they meant was weird sex. I just gave up. Sorry, folks.
Luke. My best friend. My best friend with added benefits.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (NA) Contemporary Romance
Series: - Standalone
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - No one?
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Probably not...
Would I recommend this book/series? - No.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - No rate as I did not finish.

Let me tell you one thing, this book isn't what you expect after seeing the title and reading the blurb. And this fact is on one side positive but on the other side also negative.

The positive fact is that the author managed to surprise me with the story. I really thought this would be a typical story about friends who would become fuck buddies till one of them wanted more, but the other wasn't ready and after all the drama they would get their HEA. But this wasn't the case. The story is much deeper and encourages one to think about life in general. I think the most important conclusion for me is, to never assume things about others better talk about everything.

“What are you not willing to give up? You said you could lose surfing and the ocean and live through it. But what would crush you?”
“What would crush me if I lost it? That’s an easy one,” he responded. He tilted his head toward me. “You. I can’t imagine not having you. Cant, and wont.”

On the other hand the negative fact is, that I expected it to be HOT, full of great sex and emotions but unfortunately this wasn't the case. While I really liked the way how they discovered their sexual desires and the fact that they weren't ashamed about them, I couldn't feel the emotions true the words. The voice in my mind was always monotonous and I never got really excited while reading it.

Luke wasn’t only my best friend, sexual partner, and lover. He also protected me from myself without making me feel like an idiot. And, for that reason alone, I loved him even more.

Couldn't connect with the characters. The writing felt choppy. Liv's friendship with that other woman was a joke and the dialogues were unnatural.

Okay, I am finally writing a review, I promised one a week ago, but my feelings are obviously pretty apparent with this one. I'll leave this fun little comment here though: I liked this book so much that I kept trying to read it even though we were in a bar with friends. They all knew too, because I make faces when I read apparently and come on, it's smut, who's not turned on reading it?

Fuck Buddy is more than meets the eye, it isn't just a book with a hot guy on a cover, or just a controversial title that Amazon refused to back down on, it's also a heck of a lot more than smut, this book has depth, not that Scott's books never have depth, but this one is a mental challenge. There's always something about Scott's books that make me think, sometimes I connect and sometimes I don't, and in this case it was like knowing the characters in real life. I reach for books with friends to lovers story lines all the time, they're personal favorites, but this one is different. It brings to question how sex changes what was a safe place for two people and the feelings that come from that connection. For being friends for so long, there are still things between the two main characters, Liv and Luke, that are secrets. They're young, they're naive in relationships and sexually, and they're testing a friendship that means more to them than either will admit. They're the kind of characters that seem to work like clockwork, I don't question how they came to be or how they work, they just do. There's chemistry between them that can be felt by a reader, even when they're avoiding it. There's no doubt their sexual desires are not what other's consider normal, there's an element of BDSM between them that is new to Liv and still needs exploring by Luke, but they work out a balance between them and they find more than satisfaction with one another. The problem is the why's and the how's; they come together under pretense of fuck buddies and come apart at the seams when feelings evolve and personal secrets unfold. It was refreshing, let's just be honest. The relationship wasn't easy, the secrets are heavy, there's intense self discovery, and reading this wasn't convenient, but it sucked me in 100% and I couldn't put it down, not even for the bar I was in.

Fuck Buddy is real, I probably know a Luke and Liv in my life, and while it's heavy with emotions, it's the good kind. Mixed in with the occasional misplaced word and grammatical errors is more than just erotica, there's a unique story of love, sensuality, self discovery, and acceptance. I am never one for letting spelling and grammar slide, but even they couldn't take the enjoyment away from me with this one. It will speak to you on many levels, you may look at your own life and have questions when you finish, but you will be better for it.

P.S. Can I have a friend like Chloe in my life? Girl is a firecracker and her appearances brought some serious laughter and even more serious insight.

1 I can feel the rant review coming,I reeeeally can Stars

NO I DIDN'T ! What was this? I expected a love story about friends that found a reason to turn into something more.I mean,I knew this book would have hell load of sexy times,BUT I also expected some angst,drama...and just,I don't know,MORE STORY.

I really wanted to DNF this one.In fact,I was so close to doing just that. The only reason I went ahead and finished this book was because of all the 5 star reviews and me hanging on to the hope that the plot was going to get better at some point.

The sexy scenes were super steamy,a bit to wild for my tastes But I'm not letting that affect my rating. My issue was SOLELY with the plot. The scenes felt disjointed to each other, the characters 1-Dimensional.One minute they were JUST friends, next minute they were Friends With benefits and Suddenly their just magically in a Relationship. All that with,NOTHING happening in the plot.
All in all, this book just fell flat for me.Its just so very forgettable.

If I keep writing,I'll probably just rant about the same thing over and over again because I'm just THAT FRUSTRATED.All I'm going to say is,that This plot had so much potential. :/

6 STARS!!!

I don't think I need to state the obvious and say that this book has a LOT of steamy sex in it.... Uhm cuz the title pretty much gives that away. Just Sayin'.......

Also you're gonna need a check list

1. Tissues
2. Pee pad
3. Batteries

Having said that it is thought inducing and brings up a serious issue. I don't like to give away anything about a good story (Which this IS!!!) I'm not one to give a detail by detail revue. So.............. in short I LOVED this book and Mr. Hildreth has knocked it out of the park again!!!!

Great story

Luke and Liv have been best friends since they were in fourth grade. After going through many dating sites and having no success Liv gives up on dating altogether, but that means also giving up sex. Something Liv does not want to do. So she turns to her best friend to see if he can help her. He agrees with one rule, that if it doesn't work out that they always remain friends.

Liv is finding that her feelings for Luke are changing as they continue their hot, steamy sexual affair, they're growing deeper.

Luke as always loved Liv but kept quiet afraid of losing her as a friend. But when she slips and tells him she loves him he takes the opportunity to tell her the same.

Now I'm a loving relationship, Luke couldn't be any happier, but when a secret from his past reveals itself, it breaks Liv and him up. Will Liv find it in her heart to get past the news?

This is my second Scott Hildreth book and I really liked it! I loved the friendship between Luke and Liv and how they were best friends since they were in 4th grade. The prologue was really cute with her asking him if he would be her boyfriend and him saying not yet.

I loved how they loved each other as friends and then became more when they decided to be f**k buddies. I loved Luke and how aware of himself he was and that he didn't want more than he needed to live his life. He had a surf shop and made custom board and loved to surf. He constantly got offers from people to go pro and they would give him millions in endorsements, but he always turned them down because he was being true to himself (see the talk between Luke and Juan!). Liv, now she was a bit flaky - lovable and cute and an awesome friend, but sometimes she could get caught up in the materialistic where she had to buy shoes she didn't need, but I think having Luke as a friend and eventually lover was a really good foil for her. Once they were together in a relationship I think that need for her to buy stuff eventually went away.

I felt fulfilled after reading this book. Everything that was an issue in the book I felt had closure with one exception. I thought the issue with Juan and the local gang was going to come back and be revisited, but that didn't happen. I really kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it never did. I'm still trying to figure out if I feel unsatisfied that it didn't or what was said by Luke was enough for me to feel like that issue was closed. I'm still not sure, but what I'm sure about is that I really like Scott Hildreth's writing.

I'd like to break down my review into two parts based on the title. F*ck and Buddy.

The first word was very fitting because holy crap, this book was off-the-charts hot!! I had no doubt Scott could write the best sex scenes, be it downright dirty, funny ( Mike Ripton , people!), passionate, intense, different... He always delivers. Always.

The second word on the title: Buddy.
I swooned, I melted and just fell in love with Luke and Olivia. Their friendship was the kind that people could only hope to find. The kind that knew each other better than anyone, saw each other the way no one else did, the first to list down the best qualities of each other not because they felt obligated to sing praises of their best friend but because they truly believed it. They also knew each other's flaws and weaknesses and embraced them.

Luke viewed and lived his life free of complications, and refused to be dictated by the norms. In a world where people are drawn to seeking approval and acceptance, trying to do what's normal and acceptable based on what society dictates, he was like a breath of fresh air. While reading this book, I wondered how peaceful and satisfying life would be if there are more people like him. It was difficult not to love this guy with his simplicity and straight-forward attitude. Of course, it didn't hurt that he was hot as hell :-)

Liv was just adorable. She wasn't perfect but her imperfections were the kind that made her easy to love. It might sound weird, but that's how I see her. She was relatable and so normal with her quirkiness and her amusing thought-process.

But if you think this book was simply about best friends finally taking a leap of faith to pursue more in their relationship, you'd be wrong. There was so much more, some twists and turns but it's best to just let you find that out for yourself. All I can say is that with everything that transpired and divulged in the story, the flow of the story made perfect sense. Scott Hildreth delved deep into the psyche of both characters with regards to what they were going through and he was able to make his readers believe, empathize and cheer for his characters.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Scott Hildreth is more than an author, he's like a life coach or at least a human being who never fails to share his invaluable insights about life, about people. He's a great storyteller, but even if you forget his stories years from now, you will always take the lessons with you. And that, in my opinion, is the true sign of success.

Fuck Buddy was a read really special. It was something that let me travel with my mind in a world on its own.
The author build a story in a bubble. The characters live isolated.
I could almost hear the sound of the see, the Wind. The warm of the sun and the sand.
I appreciated the unusual setting.

The characters were peculiar, too. He is antisocial, hot and unfriendly with anyone but his best friend. He has his routine, hates technology and doesn't use clocks. He decides when it's the right moment to do things. He lives just for two things: surf and his best friend.

She is a cutie. Even a bit child-like. A bit naive. She would do anything for him. I found her curiosity really cute. Her way of asking question and to go looking for answer. I found her really funny.

The story was great. Even the part of the abuse wasn't forced. A lot of times in other books I find the story of the abuse a little but forced and unnecessary. But this one was very well narrated. A bit psychological.
In all the story they try to understand the reason why they are like they are. Why, even if apparently they are fine, before they started their romance they didn't feel completed.

My only complain was the shortness. I would have enjoyed a couple of more chapters.
And also the name of the novel. I would have called it NO CONTRAST. more classy and less trivial. Plus, the "effe buddy" lasted not very much time. It wasn't the very centre of the story. It was more a story of two people, two soul that in time complete each other, and they help each other to discover themselves.
A beautiful story.

4.5 no contrast stars!

4.5 Cocktails

This book is so much more than the title. Yes, the author used the "f" word **gasps**, but that one word does shape this book.

Liv and Luke have been best friends since they were young kids. They agree they couldn't get through life without the other in it. And when Liv finds herself bombing out in the dating world, her teasing comment about she and Luke becoming f-buddies suddenly holds a lot of interest for the both of them. And once they start down a certain path, they aren't sure why they never did it before.

Liv and Luke have deep feelings for one another, that was very clear. They worried that adding sex to their existing relationship was going to change things. But for them, it enhanced the bond they already had. They weren't afraid the other person was going to ridicule or belittle them as their explored whether Luke's sexual penashe was something Liv would like. That closeness make them admit some things about their feelings for each other that they may not have had the guts to do. Made them look at their relationship and realize what they had was either what they had been searching for or swore they didn't want.

I loved this book hard. Scott Hildreth has become a new favorite author of mine. He has an interesting voice and brings that little something to characters that always has me hooked. If you're looking for a read that's a little different, very hot, while at the same time very charming then pick up FUCK BUDDY. You won't be disappointed.

Fuck Buddy is a story of love, healing and havong to connect with a person who you never thought you would love.

I love Scott Hildreth. I read about three books from him and I just love the way he writes his books. Trust me, I needed to convince myself that reading something different was ok and it was not only ok but it is awesome. After chatting to him on Shh, I had to really read his books. I was excited because I was reading an author who wrotes something real. He writes a story tgat captivates you but also has you really thinking deeply about his stories. There is just something magical in his writing. Just like Fuck Buddy. It is simply magical to me.

So this story features Luke a sexual deviant ( yes a sexual deviant) who is best friends with Liv. Liv is sick of being meeting married men online so she decides to convince Luke to be fuck buddies with no relationship involved. But does being a Fuck Buddy results in a relationship? You have to read to find out. I was blown away by how real and gritty this story was. I mean there was some hot sex but peel off the hot sex and you will find a syory that moves you. It moved me. There was certain parts that simply touched me and I almost burst into tears because not only it was gritty but it was truky an emotional story.

Luke and Liv as characters were so compatible to each other. It had me believing this is real. Yeah i had a touch of reality. Strange but totally awesome because I was smiling from ear to ear. Both characters had so much true chemistry that I believed it. I really loved them both. Their thoughts were truly addictive. I could not get enough.

Fuck Buddy is truly unique story that gets you excited and you just cant help but be sucked in into the story. I also ptaise Scott for sticking to this story and fighting so hard to get this story read. It shiws true dedication to his work and I loved that about him. I loved that the underline story matters.

I really enjoyed Fuck Buddies and I was pleasantly surprised by its story and characters. The story was  easy to read and once I started I couldn't stop. Luke and Liv were two deeply intriguing characters and their friendship was the heart of the story.

It was interesting to see how Luke and Liv took their friendship to the next level. To being fuck buddies and just that, because that's all Luke's interested in. Let me tell you all, that Luke has certain needs when it come to sex. It turned out to be sexy as hell but also life altering. Not only for Liv but definitely for Luke too and that could turn out to be the end of their friendship.
Their love for one another was truly extraordinary. There were so many strong and beautiful moments between the two of them.

This ended just as promised. Without a cliffhanger and it was a happy ending. Couldn't have imagined it any better. Just a perfect feel good story.

No surprise that this was AMAZING!!

First off, the cover and title combined told me it was going to be wonderful. Then I saw who the author was and I almost died with glee because I knew I was going to absolutely LOVE this one.

I started reading this one and I had the same mind set of my Shhsister Ebru, I thought it was going to be a light and hot read, but then when I went and started reading the book I was thinking, "this is a SCOTT HILDRETH BOOK! OF COURSE ITS GOING TO HAVE EROTIC YET SERIOUS SITUATIONS IN IT!" This is why I love Scott's book, they are hot, erotic, yet amazingly written with an actual story. Amazing

Amazing characters. LOVED Luke. LOVED Liv. DESPISE the mother. (When you read it you will find out why.)

While the characters were written so well, the plot was great to. I liked the twists Scott put in there. Loved it!

10 out 5 stars for this one!

Four stars or five stars, four stars or five stars, four stars or five stars…. This is the thought that has been running through my head since yesterday when I finished this book. I am just a reader, not a blogger; I say this to state that I RARELY read books that I know I will not like… So that is why most of my reviews are 5 stars. For me to give something 4 stars it usually because they’re where parts of the book I could not relate to or that the story lost my interest in parts.
I have given Fuck Buddy 5 stars because Mr. Hildreth has challenged me as a reader yet again…
BUT
I can’t wait to discuss/argue about this story, Let’s start with the title… *rubbing hands together*
I will honestly admit that I rolled my eyes while laughing when I learned of the title of this book, but I have prematurely judged Hildreth books in the past, either the title or cover and have had to apologize. For this novel, guess what, I was RIGHT… *dancing in my chair*.
At least, right, in my own mind, the below definition helps explain.
In my understanding of the book Luke and Liv were never truly fuck buddy’s, for these characters had a relationship, they were attached to each other through their friendship, so in my little OCD head they were not technically Fuck Buddy’s. Ok, now that I got that off my chest we can move to the characters….

Luke, I loved him, I loved his laid back attitude on most things, he was willing to let life happen around him with very little grumbling.
“You have the capacity to change it, and you choose not to take the risk. Complaining only brings disappointment into you life. Why be disappointed if you don’t have to be?” ~Luke
This quote was such held irony, in my opinion for this story. Because Luke believed the above quote as a way to live life, but as with most of us, our beliefs are hard to continually put them into action. And that is where Liv comes in because as the author stated “You two are too much alike. There’s no contrast.” This couple grew up together, they could finish each other’s sentences, and they trust each other like few do. This bond forced the couple to communicate and not guess the intention of the other. I loved Liv and Luke because I spent a huge part of this story fussing at them in my head that they were overthinking the whole sex thing, I wanted to bring Jackson Shephard from Ex-Con into this story to sit them down and have a talk with them, explaining that what they do behind close doors is NO ONE’S FLIPPIN’ BUSINESS!!!
LOL
But as with most things in life other people’s journeys are not mine to dictate, even if my motives are good…. I loved the journey that this couple went on to find their peace, and it involved them not complaining about what happened but taking the risk, so that change could take place.
This story was also filled with supporting characters that added insight and humor…. Although I did channel Mrs. Ripton with the whole chicken throwing thing, the mom in me was like; Stop spaz, or you are cleaning that up. Heehee
Overall this story was another Hildreth success, these characters reminded me that we are usually our biggest problem, the expectations we place on situations are what cause our unhappiness. Only thing that I have changed with this novel, (in this house only) is the title, I was reading with Alyssa the other day and she asked mom, what book are you reading, &--poof, "The Surfer's Story" was born. WELL DONE, Mr. Man.
That is it, that is all I got….

F#ck Buddy

5/5 stars

Luke and Liv have known each other and have been best friends since they were in elementary school. Their friendship has spanned roughly 15-20 years and they have never crossed any boundaries from which they couldn’t turn back...yet.

Luke and Liv have both had deeper feelings for the other throughout their entire friendship, but have never crossed any lines because they couldn’t live with the loss of their friendship if something did go wrong. I totally understand that, because who wants to risk losing that one person, who is your person. Luke has sworn off relationships after his last one ended about 5 years prior. Liv has tried the online dating and has had many dates, but no successful relationships and many creeps.

With a little liquid courage, Liv changes the game and suggests becoming friends with benefits. At first, Luke is not down with that plan, mainly because of his sexual desires. He doesn’t feel bad about his sexual desires; he just knows that they aren’t considered the norm and that when things get a little sideways, they can also get a little weird. He’s not sure if Liv can handle his sexual desires and expectations, but she is willing to try.

I really like Chloe! Everyone needs a friend like her! And if you don’t have a friend like her, then be Chloe for your own friends and perhaps one of them will be her in return.

As a bonus, Scott Hildreth also included a copy of his full-length book, Blurred Lines, which I also loved, and is available on Amazon & Kindle Unlimited!

I found the first 10% of this book to be good then had a really hard time getting into the rest. The weird sex kink that Luke is suppose to have was written very poorly just could not get into it. I think the author was trying too hard to make this story interesting. The only thing I liked about this book is the relationship between the Luke and Liv. Love the cover and blurb as that's how I usually pick my books. I wanted to support this author bc his title was not accepted by Amazon. If this was called anything else I doubt I would have given this a first glance. This was just truly awful!!!

DNF.....
I really wanted to like this book as I love friends to lovers books. But half way through I realized things weren't getting any better and I had to stop. I know the author was aiming for hot and brooding for Luke but his character and the way he approached sex was awkward and very uncomfortable; he was in no way a sexual deviant even though the author stressed this point any chance he got.
I don't know if the book improved from where I stopped, but from what I read in the first half, there was no way I was staying to find out.
Disappointed after all the 5 star reviews I read.

When Scott Hildreth said that reading this book will make you want what the title suggest, well, I have to know, didn’t I?

Well, this is by far the greatest book by Scott Hildreth that I’ve read (taking into the account the date because once I read another book by this Author, the current one just eclipse the other.) He delivered what he had said, and yes, I want my Luke.

The writing was flawless, there was no drama, everything as straightforward just how I like it. It’s like this Author just thought “Alright, I’ll pick a fantasy right out from your head and write it the way how you want it to play out.” And then voila! Enough said.

P.S. It took me long to write my review because I was supposed to make a teaser, and I have just the font I wanted but amzn had to play with me and something happened with my kindle, and just checked, all my highlights were nada. Zilch. Gone! Have to update if I ever recover them though. I hope.

Holy crapppp!!!! Ok I have to admit this is my first book by Scott Hildreth (I know I know I am kicking myself for missing out on his awesomeness!!) I wasn't prepared for how great this book was going to be. I loved Liv and Luke's story. Best friends who decide to take it to a "friends with benefits" sort of thing....this story ends up being so dynamic and much much more~ and the epilogue?!! I was in tears!! This book was so well written I never wanted it to end, thank you Mr. Hildreth for being so amazing! This is one HOT and sexy book! Don't miss out!

Imagine my relieve when I realized that the book is only 200-and-so pages instead of >500 pages. To be honest, I cannot handle Luke being a sexual deviant. At first I wondered if Live ever worked, cause all she seemed to be doing is hang out & fuck with Luke. After Luke's brother got into an accident, all of a sudden she had work to go to. I guess this book just ain't my cuppa coffee.
