The Four Elements
These four 13-year-old siblings are no ordinary humans. They are the grandchildren of a god—demigods!—and the divinity that runs in their blood grants each child extraordinary power over one of the four elements—earth, water, fire, and wind.
Rok has earth power. He is a gentle soul who loves to meditate. Pegi, always the athlete, can manipulate water. Rojan plays with fire without being burned, and enjoys experimenting in the kitchen. Lihala loves to weave both fabric and wind, shaping currents of air with her mind.
The four children live with their parents in a glass castle in the wilderness, deemed both royalty and gods by the villagers who settle around their home. The human villagers are drawn to the power of the castle’s greatest treasure—the ZUKOPAL, a mysterious opal ring that shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow. The children’s father, King Nyark, built the pyramid castle from the Zukopal and his light power.
However, the King’s twin brother Labec lurks in the shadows of Zuuland. Driven by grief over an unspeakable loss, he is determined to steal the Zukopal back from King Nyark. Labec is the yin to his brother’s yang, and he has suffered in darkness for far too long. With the help of his children, Coltin and Menga, the vengeful Labec will stop at nothing to steal the Zukopal and shine with light like before!
Labec's daughter Menga, the ice demigod, just wants her papa to stop fighting so she can play with her cousins. Can she change his heart and bring peace to her broken family? Or will her papa steal the Zukopal and break the family further apart?

Zukopal is a collection of four short stories each taken from the perspective of the four children of the family. Although each story is a complete adventure, and there is an overarching conflict with the children's uncle and cousins. The uncle is an interesting villain and has a fascinating take on the light dark trope. I also enjoyed the dynamic of the cousins and the emotional conflict. Overall the story is well written and full of excitement.
