Bruce Springsteen has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, and has earned numerous awards for his work, including 20 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award, as well as being inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This book features over 250 accounts from fans that have witnessed a Bruce Springsteen live show. From late Sixties concerts in New Jersey right through to his marathon shows from recent times, fans from the USA, UK, Australia and Europe share fascinating anecdotes, stories, photographs and memorabilia that have never been published before and tell us about their experiences of seeing one of the world's greatest live acts.
I was going to give this 2 (maybe 2.5 initially), but it gets 3 because, well, it’s The Boss!
Poorly proofread, there’s more than a few glaring errors to be found, just seems as those the interviews that are contained within this book were copied and pasted verbatim rather than looked over and corrected where necessary.
I’m a big a Springsteen fan as anybody and whilst there are a handful of entertaining, meaningful, heartfelt and emotional tales and recollections in this book, a lot of the stories remain the same. Many of the accounts are just an excuse for the contributors to brag about the amount of Springsteen shows they’ve been to and how THEIR shows are the best ever. I rolled my eyes on more than one occasion.
An okay read, but essentially variations on the same few stories over and over. For a professionally produced book the proofing is atrocious, at least on the edition I read.
