Just when Mattie thinks she may have found another stab at happiness, Jeremy reenters her life, and with him, all the crushing memories. It's soon clear, though, that the trauma from her past may not be quite what it first seemed.

MK has always been a voracious reader. After hitting a dry spell of reading material, she decided to write the kind of book she'd like to read.

This resulted in the creation of her debut novel, Intentional. (Award for Best Sweet Romance - eFestival of Words- August 2014)

Unintentional, her second book, is based on the life of one of the characters in Intentional. Unintentional was written as a stand-alone book.

Breaking Braydon, Taking Tiffany, The Reader, The Jack, and Famous by Default have all been released on Amazon.

Ashes, the first book in a new series of modern-day fairy tale retellings, releases in May 2022. (Five more books in the series to follow)

When she's not writing novels, she likes to spend her free time traveling the world, splashing in mud puddles (She lives in Seattle, what can she say?), watching movies and reading (!)

She LOVES to hear from her readers!

I saw this was set in Sedona and had to read it. We lived in Sedona for fourteen L-O-N-G years and left in 2012 right before this was published. Sedona was made for the phrase, It’s a great place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. Gorgeous Red Rock scenery, but very weird town. I think the author has seen a picture of Sedona, because other than tossing in the names of a few establishments and mentioning the pretty scenery, the Sedona she writes about is purely fictional. She moves the location to Washington state pretty quickly thank goodness.

The plot is Single White Female meets Law Abiding Citizen. I have a hard time believing the heroine could be so clueless about her best friend, but she must have been distracted by all the men that fell in love with her.

Good book that could have been four stars but for some inconsistencies.
It’s not very original but I loved both characters.
The heroine is recovering from a bad relationship where her boyfriend cheated on her. She lives with her bff, a lawyer, who’s very protective of her.
The hero is the bff boss, a young and handsome guy who falls for the heroine at once.
Bff tells her he’s a womanizer and she advise her to let him go, because disappointment is sure thing.
Thank god she doesn’t listen so they becomes a couple, a happy one, and eventually he proposes.
One week before their marriage the heroine finds him in bed with her bff.
None of them tries to call her or to tell her anything for three months and this is where I draw a line. Ok, I had already understood that the evil master was her bff, but the hero, who was madly in love with the heroine, waited three months before calling her and why? Because he was ashamed of what he had done. At least I expected him to go after the heroine and sleep outside her house until she talked to him.
And the heroine never suspected of her bff?
After three months she leaves and go MIA, she builds a life for herself and meets a sexy and caring man.
He falls like a ton of bricks while the hero is trying to find her. He now understood that bff is a psycho and wants to have the heroine back, he was drugged and didn’t do anything with bff, so he feels he’s worthy of her.
The end has a bit of drama but they manage to be together again.
Both characters are good and the heroine wasn’t a doormat or a failure, she was a successful woman and she even moved on after some months which is very good. No woman should pine for years after a cheater.
What I didn’t like:
- the hero waited too much before going to her and trying to win her back. This is not consistent with his character, since he’s a control freak. But he had a tragic childhood so I can understand why he was low in self esteem. I wish he went for her sooner.
- the hero kept talking and being friend to psycho bff, even believing she was sober and they had sex together. He should have sent her miles away. No, I did not like this. He’s not smart for a lawyer.
- the heroine never tried to talk to the hero either. She only left thinking he was with her bff. Wtf?

What can I say.....?

First, thanks a lot to MK Harkins for giving me the opportunity to read such an amazing book. I absolutely enjoyed it. It was beautifully written, with a very uncommon writing style which makes it all the better. I loved it all. The characters, the places used as a setting, all the descriptions she did give us, which aren´t that detailed but give us the right amount of information to put our imaginations in use.

About the story...

This book is about two childhood friends that have known each other for quite a long time and have developed such a relationship that one can drop everything in place to follow the other. Best friends who have gone through their adolescence and into young adulthood to make a way on their own. Or so it seems...

A book about love and heartbreak that unfolds between Mattie, Jeremy, and Sarah. Surprising us with a story told from alternating perspectives (which was a total deal-maker), each chapter shines new light to details that can make or brake all those involved in this complex setup. Betrayal, forgiveness, heartbreak, and redemption. Many feelings evoked in the readers that´ll make you love and hate our heroes and villains.

A Must Read!!!

P.S.
I CAN´T WAIT TO READ UNINTENTIONAL!!! Cade is many a girl´s dream hottie. :D

First of all, thank you to MK Harkins for giving me an opportunity to read and review this book! The fact that much of it is set in my little corner of the world makes me giddy :)

Now, onto my review!

Intentional is a very well-written book. MK does a great job with weaving a story and including point of views from 4 very different characters. Writing as that many people takes talent! MK definitely has what it takes to be a great writer, you can tell she knows what she is doing. So many self-published books feel well, self-published. This book has polish and feels like a professionally published book.

I am not going to re-hash the synopsis...it's too hard to not give anything away! There is betrayal (which made me want to kick a certain person's ass). There is love. There is a rock star. There is heartbreak. Really...it has it all!

One thing I will say is that this is a plot-based book rather than a relationship exploration based book. Intentional is really about the story... rather than the people in it. That is not to say that you don't get to know the people, but you explore the story much more than you explore the characters. It's a good thing, though. The story is great! I really enjoyed following it.

There was a a part of me that wished that I could have gotten to know the characters a bit more. Who they were outside of their experiences in this story. I think that there were some really great characters that could be explored and expanded. (maybe next book, MK! Especially since the main character is swoon-worthy!)

Another thing to know, if it matters to you, is that this book is definitely PG. It's all very clean, which you don't always find in romance land!

Again, I am so proud of you MK. You did an amazing job with this book and I am excited to see what you come up with next!

Have you ever read a book and once you are finished you want to seek out the highest mountain to shout to the world "READ THIS BOOK?"

Well, if you have Intentional is one of those books for me. I had so much fun reading this book! I can't begin to tell you. I was all over the place in regards to my emotions. I read back on my comments throughout the reading and laugh. Every entry was an honest representation of what I was feeling or what I was yelling at my Kindle.

Okay, but seriously, this book was PHENOMINAL! I ABSOLUTELY loved the story and how it was told through the various POV's. You were able to really get in the heads of every character understanding what they were going through or the emotional devastation they were experiencing.

It is an honest to goodness, take-your-breath-away romance novel that is utterly addicting. It was 3 am when I finished this book. I honestly refused to go to bed until I was done reading it. There are not enough words to describe how much I LOVE THIS BOOK!

MK Harkins, you produced a WONDERFUL story that I am proud to add it to my “Loved so much, I bought the paperback too” category. I can’t wait to read Cade’s story, better yet, I am grateful that there is a Cade story in the first place. I loved his character and can’t wait to see how he develops. Thank you so much for such an AWESOME book!

Great Debut Novel!

I am a long time Amazon and Kindle user and I'm pretty much always buying and reading books as often as possible. However, I don't often review them. While I am a sucker for the romance genre, I find a lot of them have stories that unfold in a common manner or use the same themes over and over. That's why I was very pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across this book.

I don't want to give anything away, but this story does not follow the typical path of most romantic novels. The story of a girl finding her fiance with another woman has been done, BUT...it has not been done like this. It is a fascinating story and I loved how it was told from all three perspectives, showing how each character viewed the same event and how it shaped each of their lives. I literally could not put this book down and I did not want this book to end!

Another aspect I enjoyed about this book was the amount of detail. I felt there was just enough - it wasn't weighed down by lengthy descriptions. I felt like I was able to connect with the characters without the author over-describing everything (this can become tedious with some books I've read)

There really aren't enough good things I can say about this novel, except that I'd recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the genre and is looking for something new/fresh. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more from MK Harkins.

This book was absolutely thrilling to read! I thought it would be somewhat boring at first, but with in almost the third chapter, I realized that this book was going to have a very good twisted plot. The plot was a little easy to tell, but with the way the M.K. writes you never knew what was going to happen until the very ending page! I loved M.K's writing style, it was unique. An I must say that she reminds me of all three of my favorite authors put together but the best parts of some an the better parts of others. She has a romantic feel to her description very similar to Nicholas Sparks and passion as well. She has the law related lingo an part of her book like Nora Roberts novels, but the main character isn't in any law related career, but describes law related material very well an in a way that's easy to understand. An last but not least, she knows how to plot a twisted ending, an be descriptively vulgar (in a passionate female way) like Stephen King. Amazing book and I can't wait to read her next book!!

4 star review by Amy Bustard

That famous saying- Keep your Friends close and Enemies Closer comes to mind when reading this story.

Who can you trust when it comes to your heart after you have already been scorned before?

Mattie Parker is a graphic design artist who moved around a lot as a kid, not allowing her to form long term friendships. When her parents finally decide to settle in one state when she entered the 4th grade, Mattie is finally able to form a bond with Sarah Bailey.

Mattie and Sarah settle in Sedona, Arizona where Sarah accepts a position at a successful law firm, Harkins & Schweet while Mattie opens her own graphic design business. When Mattie visits Sarah at work for lunch she meets Jeremy Harkins- attorney and partner at Sarah’s job.

“He isn’t a player. He told me he hasn’t been on a date for months. It’s office gossip, Sarah. I can already tell he’s not like that.”

“I have good information. You’re just seeing what you want to believe. He’s no good for you, Mattie!

Wake up! I’ll admit he is handsome, but he comes with a price. He’s going to hurt you, and I don’t want to have to pick up the pieces.”

Jeremy Harkins is as handsome as a Abercrombie Model. He is stunned speechless upon meeting Mattie.
When things start to get serious between them, jealousy & deception arises causing Mattie to make a decision to leave Arizona with a broken heart. After being scorned twice Mattie has decided to swear off relationships and only form friendships. After a near drowning, Mattie is rescued by a incredibly good-looking tattooed Cade.

I’ve been consumed with work for years building up my practice, excluding almost everything else around me. All of my previous relationships have been short, in part because of my work ethic. I’ve never met anyone before who has made me rethink things. I know there is more to lie-and I’m looking at the reason: Mattie.

Cade Michaels- Architect by day, rocker by night. A near-dating friendship forms and Mattie tries to heal and overcome the loss of her relationship of Jeremy. As Mattie grows closer to Cade and is ready to move on with her life and open herself up to Cade, Jeremy shows up with some shocking information. Sarah shows up unstable and ready for a fight.

Mattie becomes conflicted and has to decide between love and deception, hurt and betrayal.

Mattie must decide if what Jeremy tells her is enough to make her come back to him or if she is going to give up her past to pursue a future with Cade.

This book was SWEET! An enjoyable read from beginning to end. It was a bit on the milder side as far as language and intimacy**insert the word content**Plenty of angst and curiosity kept me sucked in. Best of all NO CLIFFHANGERS!!

*4 Stars*

If you are looking for a book that will have you engaged and on the edge of your seat for the whole book this is it. This book was a great mix of a love story and suspense. I really enjoyed it. I knew pretty much from the beginning that one of the characters was going to be a big problem. And boy was I right!!!!! I enjoyed the multiple POV's. I did like that the changes in POV were labeled so that you never got confused with who was talking. I will say that there was a part in this book that I was extremely thankful for the separate POV's…it was great to see how everyone felt and reacted to what happened. I liked the storyline and all the suspense filled drama because it made me want to keep turning the page to see what happened. I actually finished this book in about 12 hours because I just had to know what was going to go down.

I really did like this story even though in a strange way it was a weird and twisted love triangle. I am not a huge fan of love triangles, but this one was so different that it really didn't bother me at all. I can't explain to much more because it would completely ruin the plot and twist in the book. You'll just have to trust me that the triangle isn't like others and read the book :) In this story we are introduced to four main characters…Mattie, Jeremy, Sarah, and Cade. I really liked all of the characters except one, but i am not going to say which one, you'll have to read the book to find out who I am talking about. Mattie and Jeremy had what most people consider insta love, but i felt that it worked in this story. Maybe because the author made this story span over a years time, but for some reason the instant connection and love felt genuine and believable. You could feel their connection. As for Cade…we meet him later in the book and let me tell you I fell for him just as much as I did for Jeremy. Both these main men were fantastic. I am really looking forward to the next book. Don't worry this book does NOT end with a cliffhanger….it is a completed story and the epilogue sets up for the next book.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful love story that will keep you turning the pages from beginning to end.

Who doesn’t like a romance? This is the story of Mattie, Sarah, Jeremy and Cade with Mattie being the main character. So you think you know what’s going to happen? Then you’re wrong.
Now a romance usually follows the usual plot pattern of girl meets boy, girl fall in love with boy, a conflict causes said girl and boy to split and then they all end up happily ever after. But this isn’t For one thing, it starts differently and it certainly ends differently with a few surprises along the way.
I loved the way the author told the story from different points of view, not just two but four points of view. Even though the reader is able to get into the heads of the four characters, I was still surprised by some of events that occurred. For me, that was a good thing, a very good thing. I want a book to keep me on my toes, to keep me thinking, to feel emotions and MK Harkins achieved all of these things.
As well as the story being told from different points of view, it also jumps backwards and forwards in time. Personally, I didn’t like that aspect and found it confusing. Maybe that was partly my fault because in my rush to find out what happened next, I often missed the dates at the beginning of the chapters and would have to go back so that everything made sense. So make sure you read the dates!
I gave Intentions 4 out of 5 stars and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series “Unintentional” in which there is a different main character. Although, you’ll have to read “Intentional” to find out who that is.

Loved this book!
Intentional is an incredible read. First, I felt like I was right there, but not like with most books. With others you are there with a main character and you go through the journey with them and feel with them etc. etc. With Intentional, the Author MK Harkins, takes you on a much deeper, more fulfilling ride. Each character has their moment, their chapter if you will. The reader get the inside story to each of the three main characters from those very characters! And it all flows together just perfectly.

This type of writing is very intense when you are reading what I would consider a thrilling romance. It gives you that curiosity of "hmmm is "this" going to happen?" Then you get that suspenseful "don't open that door" and you want to scream at the book because your suspicion is so strong, but you won't know for sure what's going to happen until you turn the next page.

This book has everything. It has romance, the cool kind without expectations, that melts your heart and gives you goosebumps. Special little things become special important things which mean more. You have thrill, even anger at the events unfolding and you literally have to turn that page to feed the rushing pulse of your heart. You have friendship, betrayal, beautiful places, deep dark places of sorrow.

Everything. This book has everything, and you can't put it down. I rate this book a total 5 star because it just satisfies everything you want in a romance.

Intentional SOURCE: Author in exchange for a honest review.

OMG! This was an absolutely amazing, thrilling and exciting read. Since the beginning of 2014 I have read a couple of real good books, but I think this is the best one so far. I am still trying to come to grips with what transpired within this story. I keep asking myself can one person be so evil and twisted? When I first took up this book I did not know what to expect as this author was completely new to me. After reading a few pages I knew this was going to be a riveting read. I found that I had a hard time putting this book down. Intentional took me on an emotional ride that I have not completely recovered from.I totally fell in love with Mattie and Jeremy. I loved how the author developed the romance between them. It was not rushed and it felt so realistic. I couldn't decide if I should hate Sarah (Mattie's best friend) or I should pity her. She is not a very like-able character.Intentional was told from four different POVs. Some persons may find that a bit confusing but personally for me it helped me to have a better understanding of the characters emotional state. This is a story of love, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness. I would definitely recommend this for readers who are looking for a new and refreshing romantic read.I can't wait to read more of this author's work.

To me, this is a great rainy day read. The story itself was one that had a lot of romance, passion, suspense and drama. There was just the right amount of balance between all the different elements that it ended up working out really well during the course of this book.

The characters that were part of this story were also amazingly well written for their personalities. Each of them had their own way to stand out and steal their part of the spotlight and I think that was such a great thing to have in this book. Mattie's character has a sense of innocence about her. Which is really good in a sense, but also it gives someone the ability to control her. Jeremy has the typical “play boy” personality that seems to work for him, yet at the same time makes him wonder about his future.

My one complaint with this book was I was able to figure out what was going to happen pretty quickly after starting the story. But, even though there was that, I did still enjoy reading the story. It was an interesting twist that came into play during the course of the book that was enough to keep me interested.

All in all, I would recommend this to friends of mine if they are looking for a book that has the right balance of romance and drama!

Woah... this was different, good different though. I'm not sure if I've ever disliked a character in a book quite as much as I did Sarah, but then, I didn't like her from the first time she was introduced to the story.

Mattie was a lovely character, too trusting yes, but a lovely soul and how she was treated was beyond cruel!

This book left me in a bit of a hunk dilemma as well, whilst it was obvious that Jeremy was Mattie's soulmate I was rooting for Cade, but I didn't want Jeremy to be hurt any more either.

I won't spoil the story and tell you what happens or who, if anyone, Mattie ends up with. I will say that this book was beautifully written, had characters that evoked strong emotions, and aside from the fact it kept jumping back to the past, handled the different POV's well.

Background stories were introduced and explained, the story was told from different character perspectives, and some situations were re-told from a different perspective in order to add clarity.

The book makes it clear that a showdown will occur, and as you turn each page and get closer to the end of the story you wonder how it will unfold and who will be involved. It was very well written when it happened.

Lovely read and I'll definitely be looking out for the next book.

FANTASTIC! I LOVED THIS BOOK! It deserves all caps because it was JUST that good. Fresh material, written from different POV and not only the main characters, excellent descriptions of what each was thinking throughout. To understand what each was thinking during was such a plus, because I don't have to anticipate another book (Thk GOodness) from his POV. Clear and concise and to the point all within a very reasonable period of time. I was kept on the edge of my seat the whole time because of the easy to identify character of Mattie, who was a strong, survivor making her way in the world and she was so positive, always looking for the good in any situation no matter the circumstance. Loved becoming drawn into the guys who played such important roles in the book and could not wait to find out who would win her heart. Seriously hot guys to tattoos, musicians and lawyers with drop dead looks of "tall, dark and handsome" kept my interest strong as well, the way they were described made you fall for each of them as well, very equally lovable. In lieu of giving away the end, I just want to say, absolutely can not wait for the next book!

by M.K. Harkins

This book is an amazing debut novel by MK Harkins. It is more for the YA but who says anybody can't read it? I really enjoyed reading every part of it.

I love romance with an edge! To be honest, when I started Intentional I had no idea what to expect

The story itself was one that had a lot of romance, passion, suspense and drama.
This book is super intriguing. I had this “something bad is going to happen” feeling the whole time! It was kind of fun! The ending is definitely perfect, just what I wanted! And it set up nicely for the next book! Can’t ask for anything better

Seriously hot guys to tattoos, musicians and lawyers with drop dead looks of "tall, dark and handsome" kept my interest strong as well, the way they were described made you fall for each of them as well, very equally lovable. "Only a true best friend can protect you from your immortal enemies"...This is the kind of book I didn't know if I was going to like it or not when I started to read it...But as I kept reading I started to like it and seeing myself getting involved with the characters...The thing I really enjoy about it, there was NO sex, just a story...I have read my share of books when about 90% is all about what between the sheets, then the story itself...This story is about love, friendship and betrayal, you don't have to have sex in a book to feel the characters sexual tension and most of all you get to read all characters point of view..This is the kinda book for those lazy Sunday to pick up and start reading..So yes, I recommend it and can't wait to read Cade story the sexy a tattooed engineer/singer, so pick up this book and enjoy...

I'm not a habitual reader, but when I find a good book that I connect with, its hard for me to put it down. And that is the case for Intentional. I read it in two days! It was quite easy to get attached to the book. I loved the twists and turns of the plot. It will keep you guessing the entire time. I also enjoyed the narration from each of the main characters. It was a style of writing I don't normally come across and it was done so well. She gave such a descriptive view and personality for each of the characters. I loved it!!! Great writing, story, and characters. Great book!!

I was given this book for an honest review. I'm going to give it 3.5 stars. I had a hard time figuring out what genre I would put this in. Intentional is a light romance with some suspense.

When I first read the blurb, I was excited. I think it is a great concept. As you can see through my "status updates" which I rarely use, I was contemplating if I wanted to finish. I understand that the idea was to create the story and then later go back around to answer some questions and reveal the moments we missed, but for me they almost came too late. I made several notes that said, "Wait, when did that happen or when did they do that?"

Intentional is told from four point of views, but mainly focuses on Jeremy and Mattie's. Sarah and Cade also have some pages from their povs so that we get more of a behind the scenes look. The books skips around in time and is mainly labeled by months until the end it becomes labeled by days. The writing at times is a bit choppy and switches tenses so I couldn't flow with the story as much.

Mattie is a 23 year old graphic designer and virgin who moves to Sedona with her best friend Sarah who is an attorney and well experienced with men. They had known each other since they were 10 and I felt the jealousy that bubbled from Sarah. From the beginning I hated Sarah and even the 10 year Sarah was awful. Sarah's family took Mattie in when her parents died. Jeremy is Sarah's boss and when he meets Mattie he instantly feels connected to her. He tracks her down and they begin dating. Things are peachy between the couple even with Sarah being a hater of their relationship. The first 'event' happens and Mattie falls into a funk before throwing a dart and ending up on Mercer Island.

I wish the dates were more detailed and that is what I want the author to bring out more in her next book. I want to not be told about what they did on the dates from the character's perspective but rather be there as it happens. It will help develop the connections to the characters. In the future - Let me live the dates. Let me live the concerts. Let me live the events that obviously happened in the in between the epilogue but after the climax. Also, there were some changes in povs that I didn't feel were necessary. I like to read alternating povs when they add to the story, but I don't want the same events repeated in a different pov if it isn't going to make much difference to the story.

In the beginning, I especially found myself questioning the connection between Jeremy and Mattie. I know love can happen fast... been there, done that... but I feel that often times the story was told to me and I couldn't feel it. I started lacking a connection to the character because Jeremy was just a guy who was too lovey dovey and couldn't convince me he had issues. I had no response to him. I needed them to talk and have conversations that weren't just in their heads. There are two major parts that a conversation or dialogue was desperately needed to draw me in and they didn't happen.

Cade... oh Cade... Now he is my favorite character. I think MK likes him best too because his character was more giving in the sense of dialogue. I could just perhaps be drawn to guys with tattoos and who sing and have brains. With Cade I think the author can take his story in a good direction. He was really sweet and I loved his wit. I can't wait to read more about him in Unintentional. I hope that lyrics are actually written out and sang. I hope that we learn the meanings behind his tattoos and that they are on him for good reasons. I also hope that Jeremy will get over his trust issues that he showed at the end because that annoyed me.

I know that trilogies are the new hot thing right now in reading. It seems like I'm constantly seeking stand alone books. Thankfully, it appears that MK has decided to create a series rather than a trilogy, but I would have loved this book to be longer so that I could have more details. The details are what make the book, which is why I really love authors who do series that have detailed and complete books such as Kristen Ashley. For future novels I encourage MK to give more details and let her books complete themselves. Her concept was there, so I hope to see this author write future novels.

Good read

This book was well written and a bit different than others that I've read. The plot was good. Sarah's personality disorder should have been more recognizable earlier. Also thunder and lightning storms are rare in Seattle.

If I had to pick one word to describe this book, it would be refreshing. I read more thrillers than anything else, but occasionally, I want a love story to cuddle up with. But, ever since Fifty Shades, so much of what’s out there, what popular and most visible, is—well—smut, to put it mildly.

Now, I enjoy a juicy romp as much as the next gal, but, as an adult with a vivid imagination, I really don’t require an author to tell me where or how one character puts some random body part into another character. While love scenes are important and titillating, I seriously don’t understand why readers need them spelled out so graphically all the time. Why not focus on the story and the relationship between those involved?

Well, that’s what you get with Intentional. It’s about the characters, first, foremost, and to the very end. It’s sweet and clean, yet real and deep and emotional, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have its dark side, because it does. The villain feels pulled straight from the headlines, like someone you’d hear about on Dateline, someone with emotional and mental instabilities, who feels slighted by those closest. But the villain is not in-your-face-evil, but rather representative of the spoiled, overly indulged youth we see so much of on reality TV, YouTube, and Vines. The villain wants what the villain wants; damn those who might be hurt.

This is in complete contrast to the main characters who make up the intense love-triangle, Mattie, Jeremy, and Cade. They are all three believable and well-developed. Jeremy and Cade are both gorgeous and swoon-worthy, and while Mattie might seem a bit naive to some, I see her instead as idealistic and wholesome.

She sees the world as she lives it. She’s not expecting the self-serving corruption she’s faced with, so she doesn’t understand it or know how to deal with it, because it’s just not in her genetic makeup. Instead of allowing herself to be drawn into the muck and mire of deception, she flees, and while settling into a new life, she meets someone who helps her heal. But all is not as it seems, and Mattie’s past comes roaring back to haunt her. She’s forced to face the impossible truth of her past and choose between the two men in her life.

The writing is clean and fresh. It’s not overdone or vain in anyway. The author writes to tell the story, period, and is in no way self-indulgent. It’s straight forward and elegant in its simplicity, which I really enjoyed. Intentional is written in first person, which I LOVE!! But it’s also in present tense, which, at first, kind of threw me since I haven’t read many books in present tense. But the writing is so clean, it was effortless to slip into. In fact, when I wasn’t reading Intentional and had to read something else, I was thrown off because it wasn’t present tense. It just feels more immediate somehow, really in the moment. And that was important to this story of first love and unexpected betrayal.

I loved Intentional, and recommend it to all who enjoy a sweet, real-life love story.

This was a very entertaining read from beginning to end. In the beginning we meet Mattie who is a very down to earth girl. She enjoys her job and life. She is rooming with her best friend Sarah as they are beginning their careers. Right from the beginning, there seems to be something a little off with Sarah. She doesn't seem very sincere with Mattie.

One day, Mattie goes to the law firm that Sarah is working at in order to meet her for lunch. She runs into Jeremy, one of the partners in the firm. They are immediately attracted to one another and begin dating. Sarah is completely against the two of them dating. This is when I began having suspicions of Sarah. Jeremy seems like a really good guy, although a little possessive. Sarah tries to convince Mattie that Jeremy is a player. Mattie even questions if Sarah was interested in Jeremy, but Sarah denies having interest in him.

Jeremy and Mattie continue to date and fall in love. Things are going really well for both of them. They are even planning on getting married, but then the unimaginable happens. Mattie and Jeremy are torn apart even though they still love one another.

While apart, Mattie meets Cade, who I absolutely adored. They form an amazing friendship which does develop into stronger feelings but never goes beyond that. Mattie just can't seem to let go of Jeremy.

I remained interested in this book the entire time. I was so curious about what was going to happen with Mattie and Jeremy and then Mattie and Cade. The hardest part about the book for me was I really couldn't choose which man I wanted Mattie to be with. Even in the end, I was happy for them, but felt really bad for the man she did not choose. I want to see him get his happily ever after too.

There were a few predictable parts. As I said, I could tell right away that something was off with Sarah. When she deceived Mattie, I was not shocked. She was just obviously not a good person. She did end up being a little more twisted than what I thought!

One negative I have is that when Mattie and Jeremy were torn apart there was no attempt made by Jeremy to talk to Mattie. I'm sure it would have changed the story if he had, but I felt like if he loved her enough to want to marry her, he should not have just let her walk away without a fight.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. As I said, I hope I get to see what happens to the man that Mattie did not choose!

I am giving Intentional a 4-STAR rating.

This short story is nicely told, sad, interesting, hurtful, filled with deceit and much more!

Mattie became friends with Sarah in 4th grade. She and Sarah have been BFF's ever since. Mattie and Sarah are now roommates. Mattie started her own business while Sarah started a job at a law firm. However, when Mattie is to meet Sarah at work for a lunch date, she meets the attractive Jeremy and is very interested in him! However, Sarah tells her some things about him and she doesn't want to get hurt again...

Jeremy is smitten with Mattie the moment he sees her! He thinks she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen! He only has work and had a few girl friends. When he meets Mattie he wants to get to know her. However, he is sad when Sarah tells him that Mattie doesn't want him to have her phone number. He wants to know why she doesn't want to get to know him.

I LOVED both characters! I fell in love with them and this wonderful chemistry they had.

I loved Mattie's love and devotion for Jeremy and the ways she's changed him. She was so good for him!

Jeremy... oh man, I loved him! He is so devoted to Mattie. She is his light. But he is also vulnerable and doesn't want her to break his heart.

I loved his quotes:

"We'll always be together. You know why?" "I'll do anything for you. I'll give up anything to be with you."

Yet despite their love, something happens and Mattie meets Cade. Can the wonderful, sweet, kind, caring man get into her heart or will it always belong to Jeremy?!

And for Cade... oh wow! I also loved him. He was wonderful, kind and had true devotion/feelings for Mattie!

Mattie is lucky to have 2 wonderful men in her life who care about her! You will fall in love with both men! :) :)

There is much love, sadness, friendship, redemption, trust, deception, betrayal and more that captivates you until the very end.

I am now looking forward to the next book!

Well done, M.K. Harkins! 4.5 stars from me!

I'm giving this book 3.75 stars. So close to 4 stars, but not quite there.

I really liked this book. I've been reading a lot of romantic books lately, and at some point the general plot becomes quite similar. However this was not as much one of those books. It had different elements to it and didn't quite follow the typical patterns of these books. So it was a great change to a often predictable genre.

It was a great and exciting story line albeit somewhat predictable at times. But the predictability of some parts of the story line suddenly didn't matter as much, when I realized that we are presented by four(!) different points of view. This gives insight into the motivations and thoughts behind all 4 main characters, and not just Mattie's. Also, I liked all the main characters - one of them not so much but I was happy to follow that person as well. But Cade was without a doubt my favorite. Don't know why, but was instantly drawn to him whereas Jeremy took a lot more pages.

One thing, which might not seem a big of a deal to some but that I was VERY happy about was the lack of grammatical errors and just bad editing. There were almost no mistakes, which made me a very happy reader! A lot of current independently published books really lack the final read-throughs, making some of them filled with annoying and glaring mistakes that just jump off the page. So good job (and thank you) MK Harkins for that :)

One of the main issues I have with this books is that it is written in present tense, and for some reason I always have a harder time getting into books that are written like that. I probably prefer them in the past tense. But this will probably just be a matter of preference from reader to reader.

Final words: I really enjoyed this book and it was very quickly finished. Looking forward to more books from Harkins!

Intentional or Unintentional? That is the question. After being overwhelmed with a million books on my TBR list, releasing my debut novel (No Turing Back- Full Circle #1,) writing reviews, and just dealing with life. I FINALLY was able to read Intentional this week. YAY!!!!!!!!! **Happy dancing!** Here are my thoughts!

This book is exactly what I needed! An easy ready with a great storyline, twists & turns, and characters that you will <3! Intentional is about having people in your life, and how their choices impact one another. Mattie is a girl who has lost her parents, lost someone she loves, and dang if it doesn't happen again! But her best friend, Sarah, has been their for her since they were little.

Overall, I loved the fact that this book was an easy read. The only problem I had was that sometimes I got confused with the dates going back and forth... but for me that is minor. It didn't effect my thoughts on the book and how much I enjoyed it.

Now, here's where this story made an impact on me...

Personally, from the beginning I <3 Mattie. Something about her personality, outlook on life, and how she deals with the cards she is dealt made me <3 her! Sarah, I just didn't like her BFF. I felt like she was very selfish, but who am I to judge? Jeremy... oh my so perfect is he! Cade stole my <3 100% because he is the bigger man in my opinion!

This book felt very real to me. The storyline could happen, and dealing with a specific population of people every day in my full time job... I see little aspects of it all the time! Here is where I'm going to be vague because for you to have a clue what I'm talking about you have to READ Intentional by MK Harkins! You will not be disappointed... well, I was a little but in the ending. But it's all good because there is a book #2, and I'm hoping for happily ever after for my favorite guy in the story ;)
