The rules are simple. Don't talk to the men, don't communicate with the outside, stay loyal to the family. Gina tries to follow the rules, but every time she turns around there's a new rule! It's only a matter of time until she breaks one and becomes… Alejandro's Prey.

He's an enforcer, second-in-command to one of South America's leading crime lord's. Rules are his life. He gave her one year - one year to adjust to him and his rules. But his sweet little mouse broke the rules and now she's his.

Only someone else wants her, too…

I didn't like this one as much as the full-length book in this series. It was a little too short and underdeveloped for me to really connect with either of the characters.

There’s nothing sexier than an alpha caveman totally losing it over his woman! Alejandro is walking PERFECTION and his little mouse doesn’t stand a chance!

I love when a story begins with a BANG! No buildup, no mosey posey through chapter FIVE of the book! Just a shoot straight from the hip kinda thing is MY thing! Kudos to Slater for the darkness on page one! I absolutely love the interaction between Casey and Alejandro. HILARIOUS!

Although Alejandro had me panting with every action, my fave is Selena Morales! Ermagawd! If I could be a tenth of the female she is, I would be sooooooo incredibly dangerous. What a fabulous idea incorporating Selena in the story with those talents!

For you Reyes and Casey fans, they make several appearances in the story which I absolutely love! Gina has a bit to learn but for a newbie she kicked all kinds of hind parts……we’re just gonna allow her to be great, ok?

AP is a fabulous novella. I wish it were longer but then it would be a novel, right? If you’re looking for well-developed characters, well-written scenes, angst, drama, sexy intimacy, and humor, AP is for you!

Five stars!

"Alejandro's Prey" is the story of Gina and Alejandro.
Second hand man to the mafia lord, Alejandro has always claimed Gina as his. When she tries to escape by going on a date with other man, he decides enough time has been given for her to adjust to the new life, and decides to claim her as his!
I haven't read this series, nor the first book- but the blurb pulled me and I had to check this book out.
We have an insanely possessive hero, occasionally strong heroine, mafia double crossing with loads of bloodshed, hot claiming and a HEA. This started out as a 5 star read until the middle, where I kind of got lost in all the evil drama and the back-forth.
What I did like is the obsessive hero, and the unique epilogue/prologue.
Safe??

I enjoyed Scarred Queen a lot, so having secondary characters based off of it was a treat.

This is based on Reyes’s right hand man Alejandro. He is meticulous, focused, stoic, and aware. I wouldn’t have thought he was capable of such qualities, but I was wrong. Gina is his kryptonite. Casey’s cousin (& nanny) is definitely a heroine I found myself admiring. She was different. She was nerdy, she was shy, and she was everything Reyes promised Alejandro he could have.

“Because he marked your pretty little cousin for me the moment I declared my intentions.”

They are total polar opposite, as every Nikita Slater Alpha, he was hard and a domineering alpha you can drool over, but the delight surprises that showcased his ability to melt Gina with his softer side on very small occasions was everything…Gina will also surprise you with her character transformation throughout the book

He was domineering till no end. Just a few examples:

“You do not want to test my patience right now, Gina. It’s thin at best. Now be a good girl and shut up.”

“Do this the easy way, Gina, and I promise you’ll love being my wife.” His wife.

The next time,” he said in a deadly quiet voice, “I give you a fucking order, you listen. You don’t listen to me, cariña? You don’t sit down for a month, you don’t leave the house for a year. Understand?”

Both Gina and Alejandro are multifaceted characters that were developed beautifully. The plot has twists and turns that wasn’t predictable. This novella was a definite YES!

Alejandro's Prey was a sexy and suspenseful novella with a fast-paced plot and unforgettable characters. Alejandro and Gina's story was completely captivating and jam-packed with intense sexual chemistry.

I don't know how she does it, but Slater always manages to give her readers an anti-hero who perfectly balances the line between good and bad. I loved Alejandro's character in Scarred Queen and was so pleased to get inside his head in this story. He was violent, ruthless, possessive and loyal, and was an absolute beast when it came to Gina. His possessiveness was over the top in the best of ways. Watching him claim his woman was so entertaining. Gina was such a great character too, and though she was timid, Alejandro's claiming of her brought out new facets to her personality. These two were sizzling hot together, both inside and outside of the bedroom. The sex scenes were edgy and well-written. The build up of tension between them was great, and just as intense as their intimate scenes.

Though this was a novella, there was nothing missing from the storyline. It flowed nicely and had a great blend of romance and action. The writing was fantastic and the characters were well-developed. The villain reveal at the end was unexpected and really well done. I hope that Slater has more books planned around the El Rey Cartel because I would love to read more about these amazing characters.

After reading and really enjoying Scarred Queen I was so excited when Alejandro's Prey was released. Unfortunately it didn't work for me at all. First the story just starts and Alejandro is basically taking Gina to marry him without her thoughts on the matter or consent. I'm sorry but while I just love this type of possessive, dominate male Alejandro came across more as a bully to me. Then they're basically telling each other how much they love one another but you don't get to go along for the ride. All your told is that he claimed her the second he saw her, and that he gave her a year to get used to her new life before making her his wife. Gina was just to much of a pushover for me, although she tried to show Alejandro she had a backbone it fell flat to me. Overall IMO I didn't feel any connection between the couple and I was really bored and couldn't wait for the novella to be over.

Alphahole. I didn’t really love him, too many mistakes, not enough communication to make up for it.

"I just can’t abide the touch of another man’s eyes on your skin. It belongs to me, all of it, every single inch. Mine.”

I love a dark, dominant hero who doesn't hesitate to go after what he wants. I also love when the heroine is innocent and doesn't know what type of hero she's dealing with at first. This makes the story into an intense page-turner. Alejandro's Prey provided all that and more. The story was riveting from the start and when I was finished with the book, I was left wanting more.

Alejandro Morales is not a typical guy you see on the streets everyday. He is the type of man you only come into contact with if you have a connection with a criminal organization. He is bad to the bone. Nothing can stop him from claiming what is his. Of course, Gina is his from the moment he lays eyes on her.

Gina has not lived her entire life in the criminal world. She is only brought in when her cousin finds out that she is alive (which is a whole other story in Scarred Queen). That is when she meets Alejandro. He stalks her every move, watching and waiting, preparing himself to pounce. Then he ruthlessly incorporates her into his life. Gina is drawn to him from the start so she doesn't put up much of a fight.

This is not the type of story that ends up in a happily-ever-after. But it does leave you wondering what happens next. Overall, it was an amazing read. I can't wait to read more books from this series.

I really enjoyed this novella and found Alejandro and Gina to be a perfect couple. I liked Alejandro's alphaness, but I didn't understand why he waited a whole year to claim Gina. When he set his mind to it though, whew! Gina was sweet, and I liked her a lot, especially when she was trying to be fierce. Her reactions in dire situations were actually endearing and showed her strength of character. The supporting cast was also wonderful, especially Alejandro's mother and seeing Casey and Reyes again, too. Overall, this was an entertaining story that I highly recommend. Even though it is on the tamer side for Nikita Slater, it's a wonderful continuation of The Queens series, and I look forward to more.

I absolutely loved Alejandro’s prey!!! Somehow I missed Scared Queen but I do tend to read Nikita’s books out of order....
This is a story of Alejandro and Gina. Story of Al, the second in command to Reyes, Bolivian Mafia man and Gina, lonely survivor of her families massacre. Alejandro is a hard man who has been on a mission, you see he had his eyes set on Gina the second he picked her up from the airport and made sure no other man had any chances with Gina( or so he thought).... but that’s where the story gets going and what a rollercoaster of events it was!!!! Once again Nikita got me all wrapped up in her world so much I stayed up to the early hours of the morning, I couldn’t put the book down!!!! Cannot wait for more!

And now I’m off to read scarred queen!!!

Ok so I absolutely loved this second book to Scarred Queen. Amazing!!! I loved the flashbacks of Alejandro and Gina’s year long flirtation. Truly outstanding. It gave me a better reading experience instead of a play by play of their romance leading up to the two of them getting together. I just wish we could have read what Gina’s punishment for doing you know what😩. Thanks Nikita for the ARC copy.

This one was just ok with me. We didn't get to see the H pursue the h, the story begins with him already taking her as his wife. I also didn't get why the h was so quick to agree to the marriage when they rarely spent any time together before. The relationship seemed rushed because we didn't know how they got here. I liked the combination of the sweet h and the tough H. However, the h's actions towards the end were disappointing and I wish she would have stayed true to her character.

Alejandro’s Prey was engaging, sexy and had a taut line of tension and suspense throughout the book that made it a bona fide page turner. Alejandro is an alpha enforcer who is lethal, vicious and uncompromising except when it comes to Gina, the woman he claimed from the moment he laid eyes on but has yet to touch. The plot was indicative of the brutality of mafia life but definitely retained its erotic roots. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more to read as this novella ended before I was ready to say goodbye to these characters.

First time read by this author. I didn't read the other couples story (her cousin's) but it was okay because it didn't relate too much to them just little references here and there. I can't say I loved this book but it was a decent read. H was OTT alpha and protective. h was innocent but you could sense there was more to her that would make her a good match for him and his part in the 'family'.

Alejandro!! He's definitely being added to my harem. Hot alpha caveman!! Nikita does a fantastic job of writing some hot men and wonderful women. This book is amazing!! Read it! You should read Scarred Queen first since these characters stories started in Scarred Queen which is Book # 1 in The Queens series.

Wowza! Alejandro is HAWT & ruthless. After learning about the way he was raised, it was no surprise. His mother is a precious little bad ass.
I loved this one. I devoured it in just a couple of hours. I couldn’t get enough of Gina and Alejandro.
Well done, Nikita Slater!

This is the second book in the Queens Series by Nikita Slater. I didn’t read Scarred Queen but I probably will at some point because it definitely would’ve made it easier to figure out what was going on in this book. Alejandro Morales was lured away from his Venezuelan commando unit by Reyes, the Bolivian Mafia boss. Now he is Reyes’ right hand man and top executioner. For a year he’s wanted Gina, the cousin of Reyes’ wife Casey. He’s sat back and been patient, watching her and waiting for her to be ready for a relationship with him. When Gina goes on a date with Miguel, Casey’s doctor Alejandro knows it’s time to take what is his.

I really did not like Gina. She was way too mousy for me. The story was too short and underdeveloped and I didn't feel like we really got an ending to this book.

Absolute love.

I have a feeling I'm going to be hooked on this author for a while. I read book one in this series yesterday and was so sucked in. Today I finished this book, and all I can say is that I just wish it was longer. I definitely wouldn't have minded more Alejandro. Though this story wasn't quite as dark as Scarred Queen, and Gina was a much more subdued heroine, I still loved it completely.

Rules rules rules my does that man love to lay down rules! Alejandro is a sexy dangerous man who has marked the lovely Gina for his own. Gina is a sweet caring woman who seems a little timid at first but it is always the quiet ones you have to watch out for. Yes on the surface Alejandro seems to get his way but Gina in her own way pushes his boundaries when it matters to her. I got quit a kick out of Alejandro's mother. I want to be just like her lol. This novella includes steamy scenes, some violence, and a commanding male character who has determined he has waited long enough for his woman. Enjoy!

I truly enjoyed this book! I just finished reading Scarred Queen, so this book picks up right after it.
Alejandro is MUY CALIENTE!! He is very domineering and commanding, but he shows brief flashes of a softer side with Gina. I hate to say it, but his mama almost stole the show!! I REALLY hope we get to see a book or at least a novella about El Escorpion...and the chicken cordon bleu, aka apology chicken!! LOL!
I loved this book and read it in one sitting! My only complaint is that I wanted more! It felt like it ended rather abruptly, and suddenly skipped to a year ago, and I was left wanting to see what happened to Gina after the ending!!
