I enjoyed this book, it was a good read and educational. I would love to see what happens to the couple, what happens with his law firm and what happens to the city.
The faith and determination shown in these characters inspires us to stand up for what we believe in - even if it means sacrificing EVERYTHING! #cillasbookmaniacs
ELECTION DAY – (Decades: A Journey of African-American Romance 1970’s) Keith Thomas Walker ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this addition to the Decades of Romance Series. Author Keith Thomas Walker did a phenomenal job in creating a moving story that picks up the Civil Rights Movement post 60’s. From the compelling storyline to the original poetry, Election Day will resonate with many, especially those who remember the Civil Rights struggle of the 60’s and 70’s. The setting is the author’s favorite town of Overbrook Meadows. It features Leo Sullivan and Carla Hunter as the protagonists. Their tender love story evolves as they work together to desegregate the high schools in Overbrook Meadows. I like how the author intertwined nonfiction with fiction to tell a very compelling story of grassroots involvement in the struggle. There are some tense and emotional scenes that enhance the story. I especially like how he uses poetry to introduce some of the chapters. Keith Thomas Walker’s poetry is dynamic! ELECTION DAY is a captivating story, and I highly recommend it.
I have been a fan of Keith Thomas Walker since I read the Finley Sisters. Mr Walker has yet to disappoint me. I am a student of AA History and I loved this book. Leo and Carla were made for each other. If I hadn’t read the people portrayed in this book with the exception of a few were fictitious I wouldn’t have believed it. The characters were wonderful and I can see them today. Having grownup during this time period in the south I can relate with what was going on. Thank You for a wonderful book.
Keith you’ve done it again and I hope you write more historicals.
There’s nothing better than a historical book , that makes you aware of the history of your community. Keith Thomas Walker did that with this book . Overbrook Meadows is a fictional town , which represents Fort Worth Texas, IM Terrell a real school that I had no idea what the history was behind this school. Well he taught me and I thank him , I enjoyed the the real life characters he introduced me to , and the fictional ones too. This was a good book , but I found myself needing more from this book , more of the romance, and more of the outcome from the schools being integrated. A Lawyer and a school teacher fell in love , I enjoyed their story but I wanted more .
Election Day (Decades A Journey of African American Romance Book 8)
In the small town of Overbrook Meadows, TX, lawyer Leo Sullivan has found his match in school teacher Carla Hunter. She is working as Keith's campaign manager when he decides to run for town mayor. Lots of historical info blended into the story works well with the topic of school integration.
I have read a few books by this author and each one is better than the last. Thanks to the talent of writer Keith Thomas Walker and his God given gift. 9/24/2020.

This book took me a couple hours to read. I loved ❤ how Mr. Walker gives us readers an in sight of what the 1970s was like. I loved ❤ this book's storyline. I loved ❤ the chemistry in this story. I loved ❤ Leo's character. I loved ❤ Carla's character. I loved ❤ the ending. KTW has done it again awesome job.
It took me a while to read because with so much going on in society the book was too real dealing with segregation so I had to regroup. As a native of Arkansas and cousin to one of the LR Nine it touches a few nerves. I love the fiction vs fact section. I love how the author ended with history. This was my first read by the author but he did an awesome job.
