Ripple Effects: Discover the Miraculous Motivating Power of a Woman’s Influence

Rate this book
Discover the God-inspired difference only you can make in the world . . . using the key you never knew you had.

Tim Tebow credits his mom with being the key to his success--but Pam never expected that she would be known on a national stage. For most of her life, she was serving quietly and faithfully as a wife and a mom--choosing life for her child in the face of medical risks, answering the Lord's call to mission work in the Philippines, and homeschooling before anyone knew what the word meant. But all along the way, her experiences--and her consistent, everyday choices to follow the Lord and to serve wherever He placed her--were creating unexpected ripples of influence throughout her family, her community, and her world. And they would end up extending far beyond anything she ever imagined.

Pam believes that every one of us can be influential--and that deep within a woman's heart is the desire to use her influence for good. In Ripple Effects, Pam uncovers and explores the miraculous motivating power of influence we can have on this generation and the next, no matter where we are planted in life. Whether we are in the midst of endless diaper changes, climbing up the corporate ladder, or simply doing our best to live, love, and serve well each day, Pam will encourage us to maximize our God-given opportunities for influence--and watch how far the ripples will spread.

I’d probably give this three and a half stars. It’s worth reading, but I had a hard time deciding if it should stay on my shelf. It’s not the sort of book I’d be inclined to reread, but there are some key important points I hope I never forget.

I just didn’t click with Mrs. Tebow’s style. Part of that may have been due to the flow being kind of like one of Mrs. Tebow’s speaking events, but this is a book, not a speaking event. (It seems like attending an event may be a worthwhile enterprise.) Second, I feel like Mrs. Tebow must be a very nice person, but I had a hard time with the fact that she was using her own life as an example of how you can influence others. She does hold others up as examples of influence, but the vast majority of the “others” are her husband and children. Nothing wrong with that, but it made it harder for me to accept everything she said for some reason. Maybe it’s because I’ve faced some hard things, and I’m just jealous that I haven’t handled those things as well as Mrs. Tebow did :)

All that said, Mrs. Tebow had some great ideas for influencing her children, and she seems to have had the necessary passion and love for her children to implement those ideas, even during hard times. The three keys I hope I never forget:
- Teaching your children to memorize the Bible is one of the greatest gifts you can give them.
- Make it a point to smile at your children; as a result, one day they’ll find it natural to smile and wonder why.
- Love your children unconditionally. The greatest commandments in the Bible are to love God and love others: even if you don’t “get everything right” with your kids, they *will* know if you’ve loved them.

It took me awhile to read this, but I’m glad I did. It’s amazing/scary to think about our Ripple Effects, good and bad. I really got into the book and got excited/emotional thinking about how I could influence for Christ. The satan Krispy into my thoughts, and I got emotional at how few people I’ve influenced toward God. I also felt inadequate in my role as a mother to teach my children about Christ, bible verses, being a Christian example. That’s why it took so long to finish, because the more I read, the more inadequate I felt. But that was just satan talking, and not the purpose of the book. I wish I’d read this as a young mother, and realized how everything I did-good and bad-influenced my children. This book is not just about parental influence, but she does write about it. Read this, but don’t let satan creep in

Ann Voskamp's blog recommended this book-- and I had the library order the audio version. This book was an excellent book to listen to (or read). Pam Tebow's gift is encouragement and helping others find and use there gifts and talents to influence those in their sphere.

She writes like you are chatting with her. She may be the Mom of Tim Tebow, but she also has four other children, each of whom she shares experiences of helping them learn, grow, and develop their God given gifts and talents. She homeschooled her children before homeschooling was a thing. She and her husband served as evangelistic missionaries in the Phillipines, where Timmy was born, against medical advice. Her book is pro-life and shares the stories of how easy it is to encourage, get to know, and connect with people that you may only see once while traveling, to those you may speak to at an event. She's always chatting with someone and then listening to the Lord's lead, and she often finds ways to help them influence others.

She's humble, driven by the word of God. She loves to sing and make up a tune for the scriptures she finds important, even though her voice is not especially musical-- she gets that this helps the words sink into deep memory- and on the audio book it was so fun to hear her sing many scriptures. The book speaks of the truths from the Bible that guided her life, parenting, personal growth and ministry, and challenged her in areas she needed to be challenged. She has adult children and grandchildren and can speak of the ways her intentional choices have impacted the generations to come.

It's no wonder Tim credits his Mom for so much of who he is and how he shares his faith. He was raised by an ordinary woman of God committed to growing herself and raising children who love the Lord and are becoming like Him.

Her book is built on the concepts she came to know and choose to help her share with the women and her own children how to live a life with small ways or ripples to influence those around you.
She emphasises: the Master, the Manual, Prayer, Mindset, Mission and Passion as key areas to focus on.

She uses this concept repeatedly to help you remember how God helps us...
"My sincere prayer is that God will encourage you as only He can do, and that He
will use you to impact countless lives for eternity with your miraculous motivating power of influence."

It's a great book for women at any stage of life she shares examples from singles, moms, grandmoms, neighbors, new believers, a huge variety. I will listen to this again- as there is so much richness in the testimony of her "intentional miraculous

This book was so encouraging. Pam Tebow used so many stories of the Ripple Effects in her own life and those around her as well. She writes about the influence that we have on people around us. Her stories always go back to the fact that we don’t have any influence other than what the Lord does through us. She is very humble in all the instances where she effected people around her. I got goosebumps at some of the ways that the Lord showed up in ripple effects in her life. I found myself tearing up a few times too. Definitely would recommend to women and men too. It’s a story about a woman’s influence but applies to men as well. It’s mostly a story about how God uses everything that happens in our lives to bring glory to Himself.

Author Pam Tebow is the mother of Tim Tebow, a football and baseball star. Tim uses his talents and fame as a platform to share God’s love and to make a difference in the lives of those who can’t help themselves through the many outreaches of the Tim Tebow foundation.

In Ripple Effects we learn how Tim Tebow and all of his brothers and sisters were affected by the Christian witness and guidance of their mom and dad. More importantly, Pam Tebow shares how what we do has ripple effects on those around us. When you take the time to help a neighbor or smile at a stranger, your actions can affect you, them, and the people they interact with.

Pam focuses on our relationship with Jesus, finding our purpose, mission and influence, reading the Bible, prayer, our mindset, and living with passion. She shows how all of these can and should be integrated into our lives. The book is full of anecdotes and examples demonstrating how she and her husband Bob learned to yield to God’s will as they followed His prompting to begin missions in the Philippines as well as speak and lead all over the world.

Pam is very practical, explaining the importance of memorizing Bible verses. She made up tunes to go with the Scriptures to help herself and her children remember them. One example of the ripple effect is that her grandchildren can now sing these same Scriptures as they have been passed on to a new generation. Bob and Pam used teachable moments in their daily lives to share Biblical truths through life experiences. They taught humility and giving God the glory with consistency in their teaching and lives and by always drawing their children’s attention back to God, the source of their talents and gifts.

Although a lot of the book focuses on raising children from a pioneering homeschooling mother’s perspective, the lessons of ripple effects are for everyone. People are watching you; what will they take away about you and your God?

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Tyndale House Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book by Pam Tebow is encouraging and inspiring. She writes in a warm and personable style, and made me feel that I’d had an opportunity to visit with her. I enjoyed reading stories about their lives as missionaries to the Philippines and the many ways that God has guided them throughout their years of ministry. Although she does share some experiences about her son, Tim Tebow, he is not the focus of this book. She also shares how God has worked in the lives of her other children though the years. She has a strong pro-life testimony as she was encouraged by her doctor to have an abortion when she was pregnant with Tim.

Mrs. Tebow has an excellent grasp on the “ripple effects” our words and actions have on the lives of others. She references Scripture often in this book, and emphasizes hiding God’s Word in our hearts. She and her husband are true examples of faith and trust during difficult times that often seemed impossible. I’m very glad that she has shared their stories with us as an encouragement to turn to God in every circumstance.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

At first, I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this book, but there were valuable nuggets waiting for me. This book is part memoir, with stories of God's goodness and provision, sometimes moving me to tears. It's also part spiritual motivation, not just telling us to be an influence, but showing how to be an influence. I'll give away her secret: do it God's way, with obedience and faith. Pam Tebow does this in an encouraging way, as someone who has spent years learning and is still working on it, not as a paragon of saintly virtue.

I really loved the concept of the book. She is a wonderful Christian woman who is appears to be very kind and loving. She quoted and sang a lot of psalms from the Bible. In my opinion, a lot of people can quote the Bible and give it meaning and/or significance to it in the wrong context. A single verse to me does not constitute a true understanding of the message. I am not saying she doesn’t know the context again it’s just my past experience and opinion. Overall I just didn’t take with her approach. I am grateful for all the options we as Christians have out there to learn and grow.

Excellent devotional book that also serves as a biography of a mom who serves as an excellent example of raising her children to love God and serve others. “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” Mother Teresa. This quotes serves as the theme of Pam Tebow’s book. We can all serve where God has placed us to influence others, no matter how big or small.

This book was overall a very good read. I have been in a bit of an introspective reading mood lately and this book was a wonderful reminder that we all have ripples that start with us and continue on. We may never know where the ripples truly end. Many times we influence and never realize the effect we may have on others.

Great book. Pam Tebow has some great insights and you can feel her love and passion for Jesus, her family and the people in her life reading her book. The only think I’d like to have read more was details on where she claimed to “fall short”. More details on her struggles with sin and everyday life. It would have helped her readers relate more to her.

One of the best books I read in 2019. Our lives will leave a ripple. Will it be positive or negative. Pam Tebow's life has left ripples of faith and integrity among her friends and especially her family and especially with her children. It is a book that will make you want to rise up and be that same kind of Godly influence and example.

Excellent. If a mother’s prayers, wisdom, guidance, faith and love of Jesus can direct a child to commit their life to Jesus this book is the blueprint in how to do so. So grateful to have read and have Recomended to many friends. I always thought it was Tim, but wow his mom ( and dad) is a powerhouse believer.

The mom's group I'm a part of through my church selected this book for the year and I decided to make it my "self-help" selection for the Bloom Reading Challenge 2020.

Wow, how this book spoke to my heart. I tagged so many pages and highlighted so many things I know it is one I will be going back to again and again.

Mrs. Tebow definitely has the gift of encouragement; this whole book reflects it. The premise of the book was about influencing others for Jesus. It was written in her gentle, humble words of encouragement. She could have written a book that exalted herself as a mother of a famous football player, but no, she used her level of influence to encourage others to use their passion and gifts to bring others to Jesus. She truly glorified God throughout her writing. Whether she was fighting off infections and bugs in the Philippines or experiencing a flood in her home, she glorifies God through it all. She encourages us to do the same.

There are several things I want to remember from this book:
1. The title “Ripple Effects” explains the whole theme of the book; we never know how we are influencing people for God at any given moment.
2. We should pray about all things (think of Mrs. Tebow’s dress for her daughter’s upcoming wedding)
3. Never complain; No “whinin’!” One of my biggest takeaways!!!
4. Give thanks in all situations.
5. When God wills something to happen, nothing can stand in His way to accomplishing His will.
6. Knowing our spiritual gifting and passions helps us to influence others effectively for Jesus.
7. God made us for a specific purpose. We should ask Him what that is and embrace that assignment.
8. To memorize Scripture, make up a song for it!

This book is a good dose of medicine for the discouraged soul, one who needs to be reminded what we are on Earth to do and that eternity is waiting. How many people will we help bring to Jesus on our way? If there ever is a book that explains a Christian’s purpose clearly, it would be this one!

I listened to this book on Audible, where Pam Tebow narrates the story. I believe it was impactful hearing her share these life moments, or better described as God moments! Pam is gracious, kind, wise and loving. I truly enjoyed the nuggets of wisdom that she shared and the faith stories. Both encouraged and blessed me, all the while, giving me a greater desire to pursue a more steadfast abiding in Him, trusting Him and coming to Him in prayer with expectant faith!

There’s so much that could be said, but I will say, a lot of it is about intentionality and living with purpose. To live purposefully, having our our eyes fixed on the eternal and not what is temporary, giving glory to God and loving others well. Realizing that when we let His word abide in us and walk in accordance to His word, in the power of the Holy Spirit, going purposely through each day, a ripple effects takes place. This ripple effect will bless far beyond our immediate circle and for eternity.

EVEN THOUGH IT IS A BOOK WRITTEN SPECIFICALLY FOR WOMEN, IT SPEAKS TO ALL OF US ON HOW, THROUGH GOD'S LOVE AND HIS WORD, WE CAN FIND OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE IN LIFE TO BE AN INFLUENCE ON ALL THOSE AROUND US (HENCE THE RIPPLE EFFECT OF LIVING AUTHENTIC LIVES THRU CHRIST?. VERY PRACTICAL AND FILLED WITH PERSONAL STORIES OF HER JOURNEY, HER CHALLENGES AND THE SPECIAL MOMENTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT THAT SHE RECEIVED FROM GOD AND OTHERS. I ESPEICALLY RELATED TO THE CHAPTER ABOUT HOW WORDS AFFECT US AND THOSE THAT HEAR OUR WORDS. POINT THE FEMALES IN YOUR LIFE TO THIS BOOK AND THEY WILL BE IMPACTED.

So many practical and good reminders. The kind that comes from a Titus 2 woman teaching us how to better love and live for Jesus. Felt like mentor in a book with stuff you could apply to all areas and seasons of your life. I loved how much scripture she used which is why it pushed me to five stars. Using all the scripture helped show this wasn’t just great ideas she had but actually came from a life lived fully immersed in the word. One of the biggest take aways was my need to be in the scripture more and committing it to memory!

This book is written for women, but everybody should read it. If you want to influence your world for the kingdom of God, you will get many practical ways to do so when you read this book. Not only that, you will be entertained by the stories that Mrs. Tebow tells to illustrate her points. As a bonus, you will get a few stories (just a few) that feature her famous son, Tim. I would recommend the audiobook so you can hear Mrs. Tebow’s voice sing some of the simple tunes she used to teach her children Bible verses.

It took me a while to read this book. It was very encouraging in some ways but also made me feel inadequate and subpar. She is humble about her influence and always pointing to the Lord, and had some good ideas and suggestions, but there was just something lacking in making it seem achievable. I think part of it is that each woman’s influence is going to look different, but still, there was something missing in the motivation department.

Excellent Christ-centered motivational book for all women to read. We need more Christian women to mentor the females in our society today. What happened to modesty? Femininity? Humility? Pam Tebow writes a relatable book for women to base their lives on. The current culture cannot provide women with what God will provide.

This book is simple and uplifting. The way Ms Tebow speaks of herself is full of humility and grace. I appreciated the reminders to keep doing the little things, making up the songs for our kids, praying over them and discipling them day in and day out.
