A captured princess just wants a good night’s sleep! Shhh…
Kidnapped by the Demon King and imprisoned in his castle, Princess Syalis is…bored.
Princess Syalis comes to the surprising conclusion that being good will earn her a good night’s sleep! But none of the demons trust her sudden transformation. The princess’s latest dilemmas include a growing urge to use the bathroom when it’s out of order, her pet Eggplant Seal outgrowing her quarters, and growing into a giant instead of up. And then it’s time for the castle’s Hostage Reeducation Week… Plus, a visit to demon preschool!
This series is super cute, and this volume was too. The princess finally seems to be better at actually getting a good night's sleep, and we are now following more trouble she is causing when awake, as well as her quest to get back what is taken from her. I like the character/location profiles at the end of each "chapter" and the costume changes the artist does on the princess at the beginning of each chapter. I am looking forward to continuing the series.
Why is the giant eggplant seal so cute? Its even cuter in its big form. Beyond that its more of the same ridiculousness of the princess. The attempts at hostage reeducation were amusing if extremely unsuccessful. How old is this sleepy princess anyway? The fact that the Cursed Musician is also the Cursed Dentist is kind of alarming. A fun edition to the series.
The art continues to be as adorable as ever. I felt like the humor was hit or miss in this one though. I found that the little stories weren't as funny to me as the previous volumes, but it was still a cute read.
Funny and cute as usual. I'm glad to have read this, and will read the next one. As this is pretty fluffy, I think I'll wait a while before I continue the series. Syalis is an entertaining main character, and the art is decent.
Give me all the teddy demons and eggplant seals (giant or not) 😍. This volume was hilarious and I enjoyed every minute of it! I can’t wait to start on the next one.
I really do adore this series with all of my heart. It is just the cutest and funniest thing I am reading right now. I am loving how we are getting hints at the princess's life before the demon castle, it just makes her so much more dynamic as a character. I also love the poor daemons' attempts to make her act the part of a real hostage, it is just too funny.
Reread Sept 2023: -A glimpse into the princess's past
- And here we learn that the princess is engaged, to the hero no less
- The demon council are surprisingly incompetent at times, this is one of those times
- I love that the cursed musician is a jack of all trades, right now he is a dentist
- Posidon and the princess are like bickering siblings
- Giant Eggplant Seal!
- You can see Twilight has a soft spot for the princess at times, kindred spirits those two
- The princess has entered: Work Mode. In this mode, she can actually display her competence as a member of the royal family and a productive member of society. She even put on day clothes
-That is a great question princess, how old are you exactly? I think I figured it out once with information from later volumes but you are very cagey about that number.
-Ah, the first signs of human and demon diplomacy. I have a feeling that a unification of the two is something the series is working towards, and this is just the first appearance of the idea.
The previous volume’s chapters felt very repetitive and a little dull near the end because of that, but in contrast each of those volume’s chapters felt like they either had a new theme, or continued an ongoing story well, without dragging on for too long. I also feel like the artist really enjoys what they’re drawing, and it comes through in their illustrations. It was a fun and silly volume that I ended up enjoying a lot.
The fifth volume of this series. It is more of the same from previous volumes, cute and low-key stories of Princess Syalis and her hapless nominal captors. Many of the stories show them actively trying to get ahead of her schemes and derail her troublemaking. Of course, this leads to more comedic shenanigans.
One chapter is about them trying to hide various valuable magic tools so that the princess doesn't steal them, like she has before. This leads to the tools being unavailable for their intended use.
Another chapter is about the princess attending demonic kindergarten, with the adults worried about her preying upon the little tykes like she does them. It turns out to be an unintentional Paranoia Gambit.
Then there is Hostage Re-education Week, which is a multi-chapter event of the demons attempting to make Syalis act more like a proper hostage. None of these plans involve actually hurting Syalis, of course. This is still a silly, harmless, comedy, after all.
The art continues to be cute and endearing. This is a fun and relaxing read. The chapters are short but there are many of them.
Trickster Eric Novels gives "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle volume 5" an A+
Oh dear... giant eggplant seal and hostage re-education. Another fun volume. Still love the teddy demons. The demons are helpless against the princess. Her reaction when they wanted her to act like a real hostage! How old is the princess?
I swear it just keeps getting funnier. the dynamic is amazing. the demons are just too cute and I'm kind of glad the question of why they're enemies finally came up. I really would like some background on that. it's cute and fun but some real info would also be nice.
I absolutely loved the anime ‘Sleepy princess in the demon castle’ so when i found out my library had the manga i HAD to read them. And they did not disappoint.
If the anime is funny, these books are 10 times better. The humour is perfect and I cannot stop laughing aloud whenever I read these. The art is beautiful, and I cannot get over how funny but interesting the concept of this series is.
1000000/10 recommend you read this, it's funny and such a good read!
Well, that was a fun read! Two of the things I like about this series is that it's lighthearted and episodic (little to no continuation and/or cliffhangers).
I rarely see manga being geared for comedy, but this is refreshing! If this goes on, I can just read them time after time before I sleep. It makes me happy whenever I finish a volume 😁📖
