I'm in absolute awe thinking about the creativity within the Cheadle family. Their culinary and literary talents are fantastic. In one of their newer books, Sir Chocolate and the Sugar Crystal Caves story and cookbook, Robbie Cheadle and her children take us on an extraordinary journey to the sugar crystal caves which are in danger of melting. Sir Chocolate and Lady Sweet save the day showing us how much they love the world they live in. I need to try one of these recipes in the fall... all the creations look delectable. The stories are adorable. It's the perfect way to bond with children on a lovely weekend where you stay in to have fun! Come check out all the fun with this book on the Children's Book Readathon on my blog this week. Thanks!

This is yet another amazing book in the series of Sir Choc! I do not know whether my kids or I like it more. It is a very easy read, fun, creative and both the kids and parents will enjoy it tremendously! The fondant figures are so uniquely done and fit in with the book so well. My kids and I especially love the recipes included in the book and the treats are so easy to make. What a great book if you want to bond with your kids and also just have fun!

Robbie, your Sir Choc books are just amazing! Love it!

This latest adventure of Sir Chocolate contains some of the most beautiful decorations in the series so far - the Chrystal Cave must have taken ages to construct and the other fondant figurines are lovely. The recipes are ideal for children as it shows them to make aeroplanes and wind mills with wafer biscuits. Sir Chocolate and Lade Sweet embark on another adventure to make sure that the sugar crystals won't melt and they would still be able to make cool drinks for the inhabitants.

Another lovely story from the world of Sir Choc! The rhythm of the rhymes makes this easy to read and with the fondant figures, fun to look at. Some easy to make edibles round out this book.

Fun to read out loud to the littlies but simple enough for new readers to enjoy.

This book is a delight! Robbie and Michael Cheadle have written a story and recipe book in one and I loved both parts.
The story, in rhyme, is about Chocolate Land, its inhabitants and the lonely Baked Alaska Dragon and the candy striped Roc. The book is beautifully illustrated with edible works of art, full of character and colour, and there’s a section at the end that shows you how to make edible cars, planes, a windmill and (best of all!) sugar crystals. All the suggestions are made with easily available items and achievable by children - and even the youngest will take pride in the results. As for those sugar crystals, they’re a cross between a work of art, a recipe and a science experiment. What you end up with are long, sparkling stalactites that look really impressive.
There are other books in the series and I’ll be buying more of them for my younger grandchildren.

This book is a culinary delight!

Sir Chocolate and Lady Sweet use water from the Sugar Crystal Caves to make delicious treats, but this trip they encounter something very worrisome- the crystals are melting!

In order to save their precious cave they must help a dragon in need of a friend.

This story was sweet (pun intended :)) and teaches us all the value of kindness. The pictures are a fantastic accompaniment to the creative prose, and there is a bonus of some family-friendly recipes at the end.

I give Sir Chocolate and the Sugar Caves Story and Cookbook 5 well-deserved kisses!

Certainly for all the hands-on Chocolate lovers, young and old.

Robbie Cheadle's book is not the usual contemporary children's fiction book as implied from the title. Sir Chocolate and the Sugar Crystal Caves Story and Cook book is embelished with a range of genre: prose, poetry and instructional recipes. Some may be more inclined to the story while others to the poetry but the fixation with chocolate and all the fun, is well defined. It may be interesting to know how intentional this approach is, as it uniquely cuts across book categories, highlighting the author's writing scope - possibly a teacher's dream?
This could be an all-in-one resource for school settings, home schoolers, hands on parents, holiday clubs and any outfit that engages children in developing their tactile skills.

Sir Chocolate and the Sugar Crystal Caves is a book any child would enjoy. It shares the adventures of Sir Chocolate must encounter. His adventures carried him to the crystal cave where he met a fiery dragon. Who appeared to be unfriendly at first, who heart soften when meeting Sir Chocolate. Characters in the story were a reflection of friendship and the importance of working together to solve a problem. Illustrations were perfect for the story; each illustration appeared to be a baked good. In the back of the book were recipes that children will like making and creating.

I love the idea behind these books, and I’d love for the author tell us a little more about how the idea came about and who creates the models that are used throughout. I think it would pull us into the series a little more and help us appreciate all the work that goes into them.

I like the story and that it rhymes, and the creative way that make-believe creatures are weaved into them.

I especially enjoy the recipes at the end, too. They’d be fun to make with the kids and/or grandkids!

Gave this to a neighbor with a small child. When I asked about the book I was rewarded by a long stream of enthusiastic toddler babble. Clearly loved the story. The reaction was adorable. Mom and tot are excited about the prospect of making the cookies together.

This is the newest of the Sir Chocolate books. The poetry is perfect for a read along or a bed time story (but maybe bed time isn't so good because it will make everyone hungry!) Again there's great projects to do together and the fondant illustrations look so yummy. Lady Sweet is adorable and I love her hair! I'm off now to make chocolate chip cookies. Highly recommended.
