Eighteen-year-old Emma Harper misses her brother. Two years ago, the bad news--MIA--killed a piece of her heart. Her father ignoring her dreams of building spaceships and demanding she become an accountant killed another. Lost and rudderless, Emma drifts through a life she doesn't want with friends who pretend to care. When a bizarre event sends her sailing across the universe, she'll have to decide what matters most to her. Life or death, the universe doesn't care. But does Emma?
Incredibly Imaginative, Incredibly Emotional, and Incredibly Real coming of age story. This hit home for me in a few personal ways, but it was truly an inspiring tale of a young woman’s self-realization. The way this young women dealt with both self-esteem, and self-image issues is sadly all to normal for our children today. I felt like I was part of her experience, and growth. All of this set in a story that tests the limits of your imagination in the most positive way possible.
This is a great book to read WITH your children, and hope it leads to an honest and fun discussion about all the topics covered.
